About you:
As a Social Worker, you’ll bring a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in childcare social work and an understanding of child development and the impact on behaviour of interrupted development.
As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll bring a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in childcare social work, and previous experience of completing adoption assessments (or similar), or family finding/supporting children in their adoptive families.

YOUTH SUPPORT WORKER

About the role
The young people’s semi-independent services are a dedicated team committed to providing supporting and empowering environments for young people aged 16 – 18 years who are under the care of the Local Authority. Our approach is rooted in the principles of psychologically informed environments (PIE), ensuring that our services are tailored to meet the psychological and emotional needs of those we support. We believe in creating safe, welcoming spaces that foster growth, resilience and positive change, whilst adhering to Ofsted regulations.
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic support worker to join our team. In this role you will provide flexible and responsive support to the young people, adapting to their individual needs and circumstances. Your work will be guided by the principles of PIE, ensuring that all interactions are trauma-informed and empathetic.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide one to one and group support to young people, helping them achieve their personal goals and improve their well-being.
- Build trusting and respectful relationships with young people, understanding their unique backgrounds and challenges.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external agencies to deliver a coordinated and holistic support plan.
- Where required support young people to attend appointments both in house & externally.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualised support plans in partnership with young people.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and PIE across all service settings.
- Ability to work on a 4 week rolling rota, covering a mixture of 7am-3pm & 2pm-10pm shifts, including weekends.

- Participate in regular training and supervision to enhance skills and knowledge related to PIE.
- Ensure that all practices and services meet Ofsted regulations and standards, maintaining the highest levels of safeguarding and quality support.
Qualifications and experience:
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People/equivalent or willing to work towards achieving the qualifications within the work place.
- Experience working with young people, particularly those facing complex challenges such as family breakdown, challenging behaviour, complex mental health issues or substance misuse.
- Understanding and commitments to the principles of psychologically informed environments (PIE).
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt communication to the individual needs of the young person with the ability to engage and motivate.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different locations within the community and respond to varying needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
- Applicant must be car driver with use of car. Please note that business car insurance is mandatory.
- Knowledge of or willingness to understand Ofsted regulations and standards, with experience in ensuring compliance in a youth support setting.

About the role
With your own caseload of families, you will act as their key worker and support them to either resettle or prevent homelessness. Accordingly, you will provide intensive, tailored support as part of a whole family approach in a 1-2-1 setting and through group work. About you

About the opportunity
This is a rewarding role, to cover Maternity Leave for a minimum of 6 months, within a small, dedicated, and experienced team. Working within the Outreach & Training team to provide information, advice, signposting, training and support to parents and carers of children and young people on the West Sussex Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) who have been referred into the service.
Person Specification (essential):
Knowledge
• Extensive knowledge and/or experience of the challenges faced by parent-carers and children and young people on the neurodevelopmental pathway
• Extensive knowledge and/or experience of ADHD, Autism and other neurodivergent conditions
• Working knowledge of the local SEND community
Experience
•Experience of either advice giving preferably gained in the voluntary or statutory sector or experience of casework support preferably gained working with families of neurodivergent children

About the role:
This role is based at our Gloucester office and will require regular travel within the Gloucestershire area, hence a driving license is essential.
As a Children & Young People Caseworker you will:
- Effectively manage a caseload of self-referrals or referred service users, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.
- Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions
- Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the client in line with VS operating procedures. To follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.
- Provide information and advocacy to enable service users to navigate and understand the criminal justice process and ensure their rights are upheld in accordance with the Victims Code of Practice this could include criminal, legal and if relevant, civil remedies to service users.
You will need:
- Understanding of the issues for children and young people who experience disadvantage or crime
- Understanding of confidentiality and safe working practices, in accordance with safeguarding and data protection legislation
- Proven track record of working with children or young people OR proven track record of working with people experiencing domestic abuse
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt style and approach to meet the needs of a specific audience
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise work and deal with competing or conflicting demands/ needs and interests in an organised and methodical manner
