About the role
We're excited to offer a new volunteer role that will be crucial in helping us reach and support more people across Leeds.
As a MindWell Promotional Champion, you’ll be part of the MindWell team and play a vital part in helping to raise awareness of the information, guidance and support MindWell offers.
- You’ll help us to identify and contact key locations around the city to display MindWell materials such as posters, leaflets and bookmarks.
- You’ll help to distribute promotional materials and help others to order materials.
- You'll engage with people, and help us to build relationships with community organisations and key contacts.
- Encouraging people to sign up to the MindWell newsletter and gathering feedback whilst you’re out and about would also be a great help.
Who we’re looking for
We welcome volunteers living in Leeds from all walks of life especially those with personal experience of mental health challenges, and those from LGBT+, disabled, and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities. You don’t need any specific skills - what matters most is your willingness to help and your enthusiasm to learn. We’re looking for people who are:

Sussex MS Centre - Summary and Purpose of charity
We are a small, inclusive, self-help and independently funded Centre supporting people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). We offer drug free therapies such as Oxygen, Acupuncture, Massage, Shiatsu and group exercise classes including Keep Fit, Pilates and Yoga. The Centre provides support groups and an excellent space for socialising which helps to prevent feelings of isolation. Our aims are to maintain flexibility, mobility and provide pain relief promoting well-being and a positive attitude for those with MS.

Job description
Introduction to the role:
The Chair of Trustees will provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees and centre staff ensuring that the governance and strategic direction of the charity is being fulfilled. The Chair will support and sometimes challenge the team and ensure the Board functions as a unit and works closely with the wider team to achieve our aim to continue to be an exceptionally well run and sustainable organisation so that we can make the greatest practical impact for people managing their lives with MS.
Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Governance

Provide leadership to the charity and team ensuring the charity has the maximum impact for members and users and follows the vision/missions stated in the Strategic Plan.

Ensure the Board and Staff fulfil their obligations, duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

Ensue the Board operates within the charities objectives as stipulated within the Articles of Association.

Lead the Board and ensure it operates as a team, engaging all Trustees and fostering a culture of open discussion and debate.

Ensure the operation of the centre is realised and systems are in place to manage and mitigate risks

Chair bi-monthly Board Meetings and other meetings such as Finance and Health and Safety where appropriate.

Act as the support mechanism and critical friend for the Centre Manager and team for operational and strategic queries.

Work with Trustees and the Centre Manager to recruit and appoint new Trustees and staff and ensure they receive induction, training and support.

Additional Information:

We are looking for fun, reliable, and enthusiastic Indpendent Visitor volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people.
Our Staffordshire and Stoke Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Stoke.

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.

- Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.
- Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals.
- Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

Overview of the role
We are an exciting team that aim to design and develop fantastic programme for all members of our organisation. We have several ongoing pieces of work and upcoming projects that enable volunteers to get stuck right in and have real impact. DCF are a family-founded charity focusing on supporting children and young people's wellbeing. We provide youth groups, workshops and 121 support in schools and in the community.
This is an exciting, key opportunity to develop our income generation, therefore supporting us to reach more young people.
We are looking for a Trustee to lead on financial oversight of the charity, set up financial controls and processes and oversee our treasurer.
Our board currently has six Trustees however, the two who oversee financial controls and treasurer responsibilities are stepping down in May. We currently have a lack of financial oversight which impacts on grant applications and planning. We have a need for trustees with specific skillsets so that each board member can take ownership of their areas related to the charity. We are seeking someone to bring their knowledge and experience in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding to BTO and our Board of Trustees and to Chair our Governance, Safeguarding and Inclusion committee which meets 4 times a year. BTO is undertaking significant work in the area of EDI, and safeguarding is a critical part of the way we work. Alongside the responsibilities of a trustee, this is an important role that requires working closely and collaboratively with staff, the committee and BTO Board to apply your knowledge and experience within a BTO context. The role of a Trustee

Time Commitment

As an overview, annual meetings and engagements include 5 Board meetings, 1 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and sub committee meetings if you are interested in serving on a subcommittee. There will also be an induction period which takes approximately 10 hours in total but some parts are done independently at times that suit you (like the reading and eLearning).
Expenses
This is a voluntary, unpaid position. Travel and accommodation associated with attending meetings can either be arranged in advance by BTO (so there is no expenditure on the part of the Trustee), or expenses can be reimbursed afterwards.

Prison-based volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work (FCW). Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.
Prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as providing groups information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills will vary from prison to prison.
Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work requires ideally a good level of needlework skill (or a willingness to learn), some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively. As a prison volunteer you will:
- Developing skills and confidence
- Teach prisoners to stitch FCW products within the framework of our training programme
- Encouraging and supporting prisoners to volunteer as class coordinators and peer mentors

Volunteers work in prisons around the UK dependant on where groups are based, therefore it is requred that volunteers will be able to travel to the relevant prisons. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the charity.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Excellent Communication: Good written English, Confident in liaising with volunteers, staff, and management to ensure smooth operations, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the aptitude and ability to learn in the role
- Leadership Abilities: Experience in supervising or managing teams, with a supportive and motivational approach
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring that all tasks and schedules are completed accurately and to a high standard
- Previous Experience: Experience in volunteer coordination, administration, management or a similar role is preferred, but not essential

We are looking for volunteers who have a keen eye for detail, an interest in fashion and a passion for supporting sustainability to join our retail team across 3rd and 4th October at Liverpool Hope University.
Tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up/replenishment – setting up rails, tidy and replenish stock.
- Marketing support – hand out flyers, create social posts and other support spreading the word about the event and Newlife.
- Fitting room advisor – welcome customers in to the fitting rooms, check them in and advise on outfits, obtain other sizes for customers.
- Cash desk – helping pack and sign customers up to Newlife Style Card.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer discount of 20% that can be used on any item of stock during the two days that the pop up store is running – which is a bonus on top of our already discounted prices!
You will be provided with the relevant training appropriate for your role and will be supported by our experienced retail team.
The pop up will be open from 10am – 5pm on day one (set up from 8am) and from 10am – 4pm on day two. For this role, we require a minimum of one shift.

We are looking for fun, reliable, and enthusiastic Independent Visitor volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people.
Our Staffordshire Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Stafford.
- Are you passionate about wanting to help young people?
- Do you have 2 to 4 hours to spare, once a month?
- Are you ready to make a long-term, regular, commitment?
If the answer is yes and you would like to support a child or young person currently in the care of their local authority, then we would love to hear from you.
You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with.
You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided.
Here’s a few of the young people we have waiting for a volunteer:
- Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her.
- Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people.
- Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake.
- Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals.
- Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

The Application
- Volunteering mainly happens at weekends and after school hours as the young people are usually in school during the daytime
- The role requires commitment of at least 24 months with one visit per month; this ensures stability for the Child or Young Person

Marie Curie Companion is a professional service provided by trained volunteers who offer one-to-one companionship and support to people with a terminal illness and their families. The service would not be able to reach those most in need if it was not for the commitment and hard work of the volunteers delivering the service.
Companion Volunteers provide companionship and emotional support, practical support, short breaks for carers and help with signposting for information and support. Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:

Carry out weekly visits with the person(s) you’re supporting, as agreed with the Volunteer Co-ordinator. This could be in a variety of settings, eg family home, a care home or in the community.

Provide one-to-one companionship and support.
For example: offering a listening ear and spending time engaging in every-day conversation, activities or hobbies with the person you are supporting. Driving clients to pre-arranged health or social care (e.g. to medical appointments) or taking short trips out. Helping with small, daily tasks, e.g. making tea or accessing the internet. Allowing carers to have a short break. You may be supporting your client’s family or carers before or during bereavement. This may involve offering emotional support, signposting to relevant local support services or finding out information as requested (This is only an outline as support will vary according to individual needs. Companion volunteers do not provide nursing or personal care, or offer counselling or advice)

Keep your manager informed of any changes to the situation, or any significant happenings in connection to the person you’re supporting and/or their family, either in person or by phone

Submit regular visit reports to your manager and update relevant computer systems as required

Be reliable and committed to regularly spending time with someone and offering support

Attend individual sessions with your Volunteer Co-ordinator, training and group events as required

Represent the Marie Curie Companion service positively to those using the service
