The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking an Events Manager (Public Engagement) to join the Communications and Marketing department to devise and deliver the year-round public engagement programme.

The role

The role will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of programmes designed to support researchers to develop their skills and experience in public engagement as a route to impact. This includes the annual flagship Summer Showcase festival, the nationwide public engagement funding scheme SHAPE, Involve and Engage, and key partnerships and collaborations with other organisations in the sector.

You will work closely with the Head of Events and Public Engagement on the strategic development of these programmes and will be responsible for supporting and guiding researchers to develop high-quality, innovative projects which provide meaningful opportunities for two-way dialogue with the public about their research and the humanities and social sciences more broadly.

About you

You will be someone who has passion and experience of delivering high-quality public engagement activities and who thrives in the ‘live’ environment of events and other public-facing activities. You will be equally as comfortable with planning, including developing frameworks for monitoring and evaluation.

You will also have experience in managing and developing people, whether directly managing staff or leading on a task with a dotted-line basis. A core part of this role is working in partnership with both internal teams and external organisations, and so we are looking for someone who is collegiate and flexible and who understands how to build positive working relationships across a diverse range of skillsets and experiences.

The Stained Glass Museum is a vibrant and unique independent accredited museum and registered charity (no. 1169842). The museum operates a permanent public exhibition in a gallery on an upper level of Ely Cathedral which is visited by around 25,000 people per year. The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining The Stained Glass Museum’s financial accounts. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong management skills and a solid understanding of financial administration, especially within the charity sector. Prospectus are delighted to be supporting a client to bring in some CRM database support to help with the implementation of Salesforce. This will be a fresh implementation with no data migration.

The client will be collecting grant applications through their WordPress website and collecting the information into the Salesforce database. The CRM Implementation Consultant will come in, set things up and ensure the data collection is accurate.

Suitable candidates will be invited to an initial call with the client to discuss the project before being asked to submit a short proposal covering timeframes and costings for the project.

It is expected that the contract should be able to be completed within a month.

Spectra CIC delivers peer to peer counselling services across London. The post holder will coordinate Spectra’s LGBTQ+ Youth Counselling Service. This will include the delivery of counselling sessions, client allocations, service development and waiting list management. In addition to liaison with members of the counselling team.

You will have good understanding of the health and well-being needs of young LGBTQ+ people, and an understanding of access barriers in underserved groups within communities.

You will have a good working knowledge of Office programmes including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

The Henry Smith Charity is an independent grant making trust that was established in 1628 by Henry Smith.

The charity's mission is to utilise its resources to assist individuals and communities in times of need, aiming to bring about positive change by funding organisations that work to reduce social and economic disadvantage.

The role is initially on a 12 month fixed term contract working 21 hours per week over 3 days.

They offer an excellent hybrid working policy, which will see you split your time between their office in Kings Cross and working remotely. The expectations are to work 1 day per week in the office but there will need to be some flexibility on occasions.

About the role: 

The People and Culture Manager will provide comprehensive and professional HR support across the charity and will collaborate with the Senior People and Culture Manager and People and Culture Assistant to ensure the people and culture strategy is effectively delivered. 

Main responsibilities of the role include:

Employee Relations

• Provide HR advice and support to managers and staff.
• Guide managers on employee relations issues including performance, grievances, disciplinary
• Capture lessons from cases to inform continuous improvement.
   

Recruitment & Induction

• Lead end to end recruitment, onboarding, and probation processes in line with charity values and DEI.
• Oversee induction administration, right-to-work checks and contract preparation.
   

Policy & Practice

• Help review and update HR policies to reflect best practice.
• Embed organisational values and DEI across all HR processes.
• Assist with HR reporting and support staff engagement, wellbeing, and development.
   

Strategic Projects

• Support delivery of People and Culture strategy, including HR systems and reward review.
• Help develop and manage professional development and performance frameworks.
• Plan and coordinate training to equip managers in supporting team development.
