The Anglican Communion Office (ACO) is pleased to be exclusively partnering with Robertson Bell in their search for a Director of Finance to join their team on a permanent basis. Founded in 1968, the ACO is the permanent Secretariat for the Instruments of Communion and supports the Anglican Communion in over 165 countries around the world.

The Director of Finance role presents an exciting opportunity to manage and create a finance team that will support the Anglican Communion, whilst also being a key member of the senior management team. You will lead and direct the Anglican Communion’s financial strategy and management, ensure commercial planning, delivery and evaluation in all areas of ACO activity, whilst also providing financial management and administration for two related charities: the Anglican Alliance and the Anglican Centre in Rome.

The Anglican Communion Office (ACO) serves as a hub for communication, coordination, and collaboration among its 42 member churches. The ACO facilitates the work of the Archbishop of Canterbury and supports global ministries, including mission, advocacy, ecumenical relationships, and social justice efforts. It provides resources, organises international conferences, and promotes unity and understanding within the Anglican community. The ACO plays a vital role in connecting Anglicans around the world, fostering shared values and addressing global challenges together.

The role:

• Lead on the development and execution of financial strategy, financial planning, budgeting and cost control for the ACO and related charities.
• Key advisor to the Secretary General, management team and trustees on the overall financial landscape for the ACO and its on-going performance and position.
• Manage and continuously improve the efficient running of financial operations including the preparation of management accounts, cash flow forecasts, payroll, tax returns, and management of creditors and debtors.
• Ensure that an adequate control framework exists.
• Manage and continuously improve financial reporting ensuring accurate, timely and appropriate information for colleagues.
• Manage budgeting and planning processes, providing all appropriate financial data, and supporting budget-holding staff in all areas.
• Support funding applications and subsequent donor reporting to grant making bodies with project and programme budgeting.
• Manage the preparation of statutory accounts and be the main contact with external auditors.
• Be vigilant to financial and operational risks and to report and mitigate such risks.

The successful candidate will have:

• Ideally, understanding and knowledge of the UK charity finance environment.
• Experience in budgeting and cost control, including provision of reports and analysis to an audience with different levels of financial literacy.
• Strong financial leadership skills capable of directing financial strategy and delivering highest quality financial management.
• Experience in working with diverse stakeholders both within and outside an organisation
• Experience in managing and motivating teams.
• Experience of upgrading control processes and implementing change.
• A full finance qualification, or the ability to prove they are qualitied by experience.
• The willingness to travel throughout the Anglican Communion.

‘I AM Brent’ consortium

Step Up Hub leads a consortium, known as I AM Brent, that consists of six well-respected local charities who are working together to address the root causes and effects of violence affecting young people in the London Borough of Brent.

Programme Description

The programme is part of the Mayor of London’s flagship violence reduction programme, known as MyEnds. It is a place-based violence reduction initiative that adopts a public health approach. The consortium is providing an array of positive opportunities for young people and support for families, including through tailored interventions. The programme also aims to improve statutory and voluntary organisation networks and access to referral, and to ensure the voices of young people and community members are built into provision. The work is focused on the Church Road Estate, Stonebridge Estate, St Raphael’s Estate, Chalkhill Estate and Harlesden Town Centre areas.

The Role of the Programme Manager

The Programme Manager will act as the glue between consortium members and provide a key link with statutory bodies, voluntary organisations, and the community. The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting consortium members with project deliverables where necessary, optimising the integration of provision, overseeing referrals, and brokering community partnerships. The Programme Manager will also schedule meetings and shared activities, provide secretarial support, and represent Step Up Hub and the consortium at relevant meetings.

In addition, the Programme Manager will:

· be responsible for line management of two other Step Up Hub staff members working on I AM Brent programme deliverables, a Network and Communication Lead and a Community Engagement Lead,

· manage, report on, monitor and evaluate the progress of interventions,

· report to VRU, attend VRU meetings, and cascade relevant information from the VRU to consortium members,

· be responsible for engaging stakeholders and community partners, identifying and leveraging their skills, expertise and assets, and leading on youth and community forums

· help engender an environment of trust and collaboration to support stakeholders and community partners engage positively with Step Up Hub and the consortium,

· manage a grant pot and support the delivery of small projects that are funded from it,

· work to actively promote the consortium and Step Up Hub’s activities, as per the organisational guidelines, through producing publicity materials and written reports for regular newsletters and by keeping the website updated,

· coordinate and monitor project budgets, working alongside the finance officer as required,

· ensure that safeguarding is central to the service delivery and is systemically built into case management processes,

· ensure equality of opportunity is embedded in all service delivery by Step Up Hub and consortium partners,

· provide secretarial services for the project steering group, progress meetings and small grants awarding panel.

The programme manager will be supported by the Step Up Hub senior leadership team and consortium partners on all aspects of programme delivery.

This is a pivotal time to join our dynamic Fundraising team as we work towards our strategy. As our Senior Trusts & Foundations Fundraising Manager, you will manage existing and develop new funder and partner relationships across trusts and foundations, and other donors, to ensure we can meet the needs of the increasing number of women we support across London and build on our systems influencing work nationally.

We support 900 women and children annually, with an income of £1.04m and 41 staff in 2023/24. Key responsibilities:

• Interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills in order to allow clients to explain their problem(s) and empower them to set their own priorities.
• Use the Citizens Advice Information System to find, interpret and communicate the relevant information.
• Research and explore options and implications so that clients can make informed decisions.

• Liaise and negotiate with other statutory and voluntary organisations to progress the client’s case and ensure they receive all assistance available.

• Experience of advice work in debt and benefits. Ideally also experience in a wider range of areas - for example, housing, employment, consumer and immigration.
• Ability to work sensitively with a diverse range of clients
• An understanding of the issues involved in interviewing clients, particularly those who may be experiencing stress and anxiety.
• An ordered approach to your work and an ability to follow set procedures concerning casework and file management etc
• Ability to use IT in the provision of advice and the preparation of reports and submissions. 
• Good oral communication skills with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills on the telephone. 
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing with particular emphasis on negotiation and representation skills and on preparing grant applications, reviews, reports and correspondence.
• Numeracy skills required to understand statistics and check calculations. 
• Ability to monitor and maintain own work to comply with set standards 
• An understanding of and commitment to the Aims and Principles of the Citizens Advice service including the services Equal Opportunities policies.

About this job

The Youth Endowment Fund  

Head of Evaluation (Targeted Projects)

Reports to: Assistant Director of Impact, Programmes and Partnerships

Salary: £64,500

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.  

Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. Your role will focus on creating and making the best of those opportunities. You will: 

• Serve as a senior member of the team. YEF is buzzing with activity and in order to prevent any bottlenecks, we need to expand our senior capacity. 

• Run and manage closed calls for complex evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. For each of the programmes we work with, we find and appoint independent evaluators. 

• Expertly manage relationships with key stakeholders. Aside from evaluators, we work closely with other grantees and partners. 

• Represent YEF at governance meetings and other external engagements. We’re passionate about our mission, proud of the work we’re doing to get there, and we’re keen to share this with stakeholders.  

• Provide support and counsel to our team of Senior Evaluation Managers and Evaluation Managers. This team closely manages over 35 efficacy trials, over 20 pilot studies and even more in the earlier stages of evaluation. 

• Tightly manage and quality assure evaluations commissioned under Targeted Projects. YEF has set processes to maintain high standards and rigour. This role will ensure all evaluations adhere to these.

Finance and Resources Manager (Full Time)

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.  

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

The Race Equality Foundation is expanding during an exciting phase of growth. We are building our team to advance our mission of tackling racism and transforming the lives of Black, Asian, and ethnically minoritised communities.

We are seeking an established fundraiser with experience of raising funds from trusts and foundations and is looking to take the next step in their career. Working in a supportive and well-established charity, you will have the autonomy and agency to lead in developing innovative new funding asks working closely with senior colleagues. You will manage, maintain and enhance relationships with existing partners and identify, approach and win the support of new supporters to expand our work. Through working collaboratively across the charity and producing high quality reports to our funders, you will see the tangible impact of your work on the lives of the Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities supported by the projects you have secured funding for.

It’s a great time to join our team as we grow and diversify our income so that we can continue to expand the crucial work of the Foundation. You will work closely with the SMT to identify and research prospects, develop compelling applications, and manage funding streams. You will play a key role in building an effective Trust and Foundation Fundraising function, establishing effective ways of working across the charity and building positive, engaging, long-term relationships with funders.

The ideal candidate will be committed to tackling racism and reducing inequalities, you will be driven and ambitious, with experience across a range of fundraising methods but must have significant experience in developing Trust and Foundation relationships and evidence of securing 5 and 6 figure partnerships or grants.

Victim Support is the leading charity in England and Wales that supports people affected by crime and traumatic incidents. We provide personalised support to help people manage after crime and feel safer through a combination of dedicated specialist services as well as on-line support. We also ensure victims know their rights and we campaign to make them stronger.

In order to achieve our vision we need a highly capable Director of Finance to build and improve on our high-performing finance function and to drive forward operational excellence.

Reporting directly into the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our financial strategy, long-term financial planning, and developing commercial strategies to maximise income and operating contribution. You will also have responsibility of cash management, risk management and governance. You will be the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) for the organisation and will lead on Property and Procurement.

This is a varied and exciting role which will provide you with the opportunity of leading a well-established team of professionals, reporting on the financial performance of the organisation together with providing analysis, advice and support to facilitate decision making to deliver sound financial management.

This year, and every year, as many as 600 families in the UK will learn that their child has only half a working heart. These children have one of the most complex of all heart conditions, and there is no cure. Families in this situation need care and support to understand the information, make important treatment decisions, and meet the everyday challenges of living with half a heart can bring.

That is why Little Hearts Matter exists. We wrap a blanket of understanding and care around families at every stage of their half a heart journey. We are always here when they need us.

Without donations, Little Hearts Matter would not be able to offer our services, free of charge, to support individuals and families across the UK. We do not receive any government funding for our work. Our fundraising team is essential to raising these vital funds—over £440,000 annually. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you, our Fundraising Manager, within our three-person fundraising team.

In your first three months, you will get to know the charity well and figure out who our current supporters are. You will devise a plan for how you will use your experience to raise money, with a focus on building our challenge and events portfolio. You will also start building good relationships with key people inside and outside

Little Hearts Matter, including networking within the Birmingham and West Midlands business community.

By the end of your first year, you will have put your plan into action, continually improving it as you go. You will have built up our events and challenges portfolio, connected with donors, found new supporters, and tried out different ways to bring in funds and hit your target. You will have monitored your progress, using goals to measure success, and adjusting the plan when needed. Alongside this, you will have worked with the team to boost the Little Hearts Matter’s profile and impact so that fundraising efforts can keep going strong in the future.

About Little Hearts Matter

Little Hearts Matter (LHM) is a national charity with over 7000 members. We are the only charity in the UK that offers support and information to, and represents the needs of, children and families following a diagnosis of single ventricle heart disease (half a working heart). These congenital cardiac conditions can never be cured, even following repeated surgery, so the children must learn to live within the restrictions that their disability and fears for their future create.

Little Hearts Matter is there from the time parents learn of their child’s condition, through risk-filled treatment into a challenged-filled life at home. LHM is there to support the children, and their families, through their hopes and aspirations and the gradual realisation that they will never have the same life as their peers. Our aims are to:

Alleviate isolation by offering support, friendship and understanding from the time a diagnosis is made, through treatment decisions, hospital care and into life at home, eventually introducing parents and patients to other families who have similar experiences and shared concerns helping them to build a network of support.

Reduce fear by offering patients, parents, siblings, and the extended family a greater opportunity to understand the diagnosis and treatment paths available.

Reduce confusion and a lack of understanding by producing and supplying for free, user focused information that supports and aids understanding from the time of diagnosis, through treatments and into life at home.

Raise a greater awareness within Medical, Educational, Social and Governmental circles of the needs of children, and their families, as they travel through every stage of their lives.

Specific areas of responsibility

Working as part of the fundraising team, the Fundraising Manager will:  

• Be responsible for their own portfolio of supporters, maintaining and growing income, regularly forecasting income and expenditure against agreed targets (circa. £200,000+ annually)
• Proactively manage and grow relationships with diverse corporate and community supporters, delivering tailored propositions where appropriate, providing excellent relationship management to maximise their impact and long-term engagement.
• Build excellent working relationships with regional partners, supporters, and volunteers, to maximise the impact of their own fundraising and identify new opportunities through their networks.
• Develop and lead on exciting and engaging events, challenges and appeals to support the Fundraising team meeting its financial objectives.
• Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive, Head of Service and Grants Manager to ensure synergy in planning and delivery of income generation targets.
• Maintain accurate records of supporter interactions on the CRM system to deliver exceptional supporter experience and harness the value of data.
• Attend events, including out of hours working where necessary (compensated by Time in Lieu)
• Be a passionate ambassador for Little Hearts Matter, always maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
