Specialist Support Workers within Look Ahead are required to have either an extra dimension of experience or a higher qualification level as determined relevant for the particular post. Specialist Support Workers provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community. Support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

Consists of working 5 days a week across all days, 8 hours shifts starting at either 8am or 2pm.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
Carrying out holistic assessments of new customers which incorporate relevant statutory referral information
Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Create support plans for providing appropriate services based on on-going assessment and reflecting the services and resources available to enable customer to progress in their recovery
Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking
Provide support and access to relevant services to enable customers to continue their recovery and empower customers to self-manage their medication regimes through individual re-enablement programmes and informed decision making
Undertake support work in partnership with external stakeholders to compliment their interventions
Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes
Demonstrate strong commitment to the functioning of the staff team and to support colleagues in providing a high level of service and safety to customers
Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues

IBIS House MH Step Down & Crisis

Working in partnership with the London Borough of Newham and East London Foundation Trust, IBIS House supports people who are medically fit for discharge from mental health inpatient stays but have other barriers to discharge. These may include housing, living skills, accessing benefits or the community, or other interventions and will be on a person-centred basis. The main aim of the service is to provide short-term support to customers to link with longer-term services to reduce escalations in need, and reduce inpatient readmission and reduce pressure on inpatient beds.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will be expected to undertake some duties as part of the management team which may include supporting the team with their responsibilities whilst working flexibly to respond to the needs of your own customer case load. This role will require either an extra dimension of experience or have/be working towards a higher qualification level in order to meet the role specific competencies for this position.

Shifts will be on a rota pattern and include morning shifts (08:00-16:00) and afternoon shifts (14:00-22:00).

Includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What you'll do:

Work proactively with the team to handle the service caseload and support an effective team approach to meeting each customer's identified needs in a recovery-focussed way
Assessing referrals received by the service, within the 4-hour target, and providing a rapid response to these - supporting the team to identify and promote positive risk management.
Contribute to a positive service environment, ensuring the service is supportive and a place of safety and stability for customers. This includes working flexibly and being proactively in delivering, reviewing and arranging effective support for emerging needs and risks in order to prevent escalating concerns
Inducting new customers, and helping orient them to the community and local area
Completing/supporting housing referrals as required, supporting customers with budgeting tools and providing support to customers in accessing any benefits or addressing any issues such as benefits.
Building a relationship with the local borough and any key agencies. For example: no recourse to public funds teams, homelessness teams, community mental health teams etc.
Support planning, including ward management liaison, medication profiles and medication reviews as required, identifying the goals and steps to support customers to manage their own support and risk and ensuring these are correctly documented within Look Ahead's paperwork.
Involve customers in the design, development and delivery of the service through co-production.
Report and react to any observations relating to customers welfare
Proactive development of links with local statutory and voluntary organizations to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community
Shift lead, ensuring effective coordination of staff time so that all planned service and customer activities are attended to during the course of the shift
Maintain a good standard of records as required at the project under the direction of the Managers.
Proactively engaging in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times, to ensure the safety of the customers and premises including responding to maintenance, fire and health and safety issues
Competent use of relevant systems, company policies and frameworks
Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements

About the role

You will work closely with the Housing First team, colleagues and accommodation providers, to place clients directly into homes in places they want to be. Then you will work with them to develop outcome-focused support plans that reflect their personal strengths and goals, to make sure that they can sustain their accommodation and thrive in their community.

Also you will coordinate support around your client and act as a key worker to help them sustain their accommodation and move forward with their lives. This will mean coordinating interventions provided by other agencies so that the right support is provided at the right time, to enable the service user to progress on their journey to recovery.  Giving full advice on different issues such as homelessness and housing options, tenancy issues e.g. dampness and disrepair, welfare and housing benefits, debt and employment is also a key aspect of the role. You will need to visit clients in their homes or community locations which could be anywhere in Dorset.

About you

You will need a relevant background that includes experience of housing, homelessness and welfare benefits law and experience supporting people who are vulnerable and/or have multiple disadvantage. Through this you will have a good working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including Microsoft Office applications is important too. If you have experience of using case managements systems this is an advantage, but not essential. The role will need you to visit clients in their homes so you will need a valid driving licence and be willing to use your vehicle for work purposes - for which an essential car user allowance will be paid.

About the position….

We may also have Trainee Floating Support Worker roles, working to support a caseload of people who are at greater risk of homelessness with a focus on addressing housing-related issues, improving quality of life and promoting independence. Your support will include help with benefits issues, mental and physical ill health, hoarding and antisocial behaviours within a recovery framework and structured key working assessment. This work will involve regular travel in London, visiting clients in their own homes or other locations. 

As a Trainee, you will be working in a varied and rewarding role amongst a committed and supportive team. The training programme will teach you how to provide this support to clients, enabling them to achieve the objectives they have collaboratively created in their support and action plans. You will also assist clients with routine tasks and their goals relating to training, education, or employment.

As a Trainee, you will receive increments to your salary at six months and at nine months (subject to successful completion of the Trainee Programme).

They are looking to recruit a Housing Support Worker to join them on a temporary basis initially, with the potential to become permanent for the right person. Properties are situation close to Manchester City Centre and Salford Shopping City.

As a Housing Support Worker, you will assist in the day to day running of the properties, carrying out housing support duties, whilst offering advice and maintaining contact with tenants to ensure effective management of the properties.

The role - Housing Support Worker

• Let properties in line with the organisations letting policy and procedure.
• Assess and process possible admissions to the accommodation and determine acceptance. In cases where information is present to indicate that persons should not be admitted, record the details accurately.
• Assess a prospective new tenant and advise them on the Assured Short-hold Tenancy agreement, tenant's handbook and other relevant Policies and Procedures.
• Record and undertake pre-admission inspections of properties and voids when and where appropriate.
• Ensure that all applicants receive appropriate help and advice to enable them to sustain a tenancy.
• Use the company's in-house IT system to maintain accurate records and to maintain corresponding written records accurately and in enough detail.
• Monitor check and inspect tenant's flats and own rooms to ensure the tenant is maintaining a clean room and its contents remain undamaged, carry out room inspections on a regular basis.
• Maintain daily written records and reports concerning tenants including accurate files. Make a full verbal and when necessary written report to the staff taking over the duty.
• Ensure that harmonious relations are maintained in all dealings with tenant's, their visitors, and other tenants within the property.
• Encourage and promote safety and security of their own dwellings.
• Monitor work practices to maintain their health, safety and welfare of colleagues, tenants, and visitors.
• Record any admissions, voids, incidents, or accidents which have occurred.
• Ensure that tenants receive personal mail.
• Ensure the tenants pay their weekly service charge accurately and in advance.
• Issue supplies of bedding, linen, hardware, crockery and cleaning materials to tenant's and record issues to the required inventory.
• Liaise with other Housing Support Workers, Benefits Agency, Housing Benefit and outside agencies on behalf of tenant's, e.g., Social Services, Health Visitors, G.P
• Report repairs required, faulty equipment, breakages or damage - ensure access to the Properties for maintenance and contractors.
• Take on, investigate, develop and resolve complaints casework including disputes, breaches of Assured Short-hold Tenancy agreement conditions and harassment using a broad range of interventions in line with the company's behaviour policies and procedures.

• Experience of ascertaining and assessing the needs of individuals.

We are seeking a Senior Community Support Worker to join our Newbridge day service in Stockport, which supports adults with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Complex Needs. The Senior Community Support Worker will also work flexibly across two other services based at Newbridge – an evening Youth Club and a Saturday Club for children with complex health needs.

The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality, person-centred support that meets the individuals needs with physical, health, emotional and social needs.  You will assist in the development and maintenance of their support plans as required, along with developing positive and engaging interactions.

You will provide line management to a small staff support team, developing their capability through demonstrating the right values and behaviours, mentoring staff and supporting their ongoing development.

Safeguarding vulnerable adults is a priority for all employees within the Trust.

Working Pattern – 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly over five days. Weekend working will be required.

Starting Salary – £27,590.00 per year (£14.15 per hour) with biennial increments.

Additional Enhancement - weekends paid at 25% premium on the hourly rate.

Location – Newbridge Centre, Cromer Street, off Newbridge Lane, Stockport SK1.

About the Role

The role will involve assessing needs and offering one to one support to service users to enable them to begin the process of improving their mental health and wellbeing and to providing clarity on services and pathways available in the area. The role will be part of a larger Crisis Café team made up of Crisis Recovery Workers, Crisis Peer Support Workers, Team Leaders and volunteers.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in Milton Keynes, in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
• Carry out Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.
