About the role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank of casual workers as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.

Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.

As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you may be asked to use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you

To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.

You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.

There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive, have access to your own car and be flexible to spend nights away from home occasionally within the UK at short notice.

You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic social researcher to join our fantastic Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) team.

Based with Good Company, a local anti-poverty charity, the Community Researcher role would design and conduct research on wider determinants of health (e.g., poverty, food insecurity) and their impacts on health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research. The wider determinants of health are a diverse range of social, economic and environmental factors which influence people’s mental and physical health. Systematic variation in these factors constitutes social inequality, an important driver of the health inequalities.

In addition, this role would seek to increase the capacity of local voluntary sector organisations to carry out their own participatory research, as well as supporting the HDRC programme team in promoting participatory research methods across Surrey and building the local evidence base on the wider determinants of health.

There will be a second Community Researcher post based with Reigate & Banstead Council which will focus on building the participatory research capacity within the local authority.

About Surrey Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC):

This role would form part of the new and innovative Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) programme funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). The Surrey HDRC programme is delivered by Surrey County Council,  University of Surrey (UoS), alongside local partners Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Good Company and Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF).

Surrey HDRC is designed to boost the capacity of Surrey County Council to do research, together with our communities, with the aim of improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Surrey communities. Surrey HDRC will develop a sustainable research culture, build research capacity and capability, and increase our local evidence-base on wider determinants of health.

The post holder will be based at Good Company and will work as part of the Surrey HDRC programme team, leading on participatory research and co-production. The role includes:

· Developing a programme of research on wider determinants of health inequalities, with a particular focus on co-production and other forms of participatory research.

Purpose of the Job
The Dad Matters coordinators deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the First 1001 Days. They support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to service. They also work with professionals and perinatal services to ensure dads and male carers are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways.

The post holder will:

• Build on the Home-Start Haringey, Hackney and Waltham Forest foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one to one and group situations.
• Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads.
• Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period
• Raise awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues 
• Develop the Dad Matters volunteer role
• Develop close links with other health and voluntary agencies
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers through outreach and focus groups

Main Responsibilities

Support to Dads

The post holder will provide individual and group support to dads during the perinatal period.  This will involve the following: 

• Meeting dads at ante-natal clinics
• Facilitating or co-facilitating ante-natal Dad Chats in person and online
• Supporting the developments of support offered to dads with children on NICU and those with partners in receipt of care from Perinatal Mental Health teams, Adult Mental Health, IAPT and Parent Infant Mental Health teams
• Signposting and supporting access to other services as appropriate
• Undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare
• Ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of work
• Facilitate regular consultation with fathers in order to ensure that all resources are targeted appropriately

Our Community Connector’s serve as the first point of contact for those visiting our sites, providing support for people to engage with services and activities.

The role aims to build relationships, identify peoples’ interests and goals and find appropriate opportunities for support. This role will be largely based in our main location, in Bromley by Bow, and Welcome Hub in East India Dock Rd, which we are developing in partnership with Poplar HARCA, an award-winning housing association in East London.

The role may also be deployed to other sites to support with gaps in capacity e.g. due to annual leave, sickness or other absences of staff. Wherever based, our Community Connectors work to ensure that members of the community are aware of support available to them locally.

The role will also involve co-designing, developing, delivering, and reviewing a programme of activities and resident-led initiatives. The role is very much integrated with other services provided in our locations, mainly our advice services (e.g. social welfare, energy and financial capability) and our open access services.
We expect all our staff to be able to work with some flexibility across Centre’s and offer support to the community. This role will support teams if a sudden need arises due to lack of capacity.

Support Coordinator

This is an exciting opportunity to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following stroke. We are looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service.

Position: S11216 Stroke Association Support Coordinator

Location: Home-based Surrey however, extensive travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work-related meetings)

Hours: Part-time, 21 hours per week (flexible working available)

Salary: Circa £16,043 per annum (inner London weighting £2,370 per annum or outer London weighting £1,260 per annum may be applied in accordance to where you live) (FTE circa £26,700 per annum)

Contract: Our services are contracted, we currently have funding for this contract until 31 August 2025.

The Role

The service aims to identify and address the needs of stroke survivors and carers across the stroke pathway, by providing a range of innovative support solutions, supporting them to meet their desired outcomes. A key part of the role will be to support service users and the delivery of the service.

Reporting to the Stroke Association Service Delivery Coach, the Stroke Association Support Coordinator will:

· Support new stroke survivors and their carers from hospital discharge into the community.

· Provide personalised information, advice and support.

· Support clients to make informed lifestyle changes which will help them to prevent further strokes

· Be accountable for volunteers, so experience of recruiting, training and managing volunteers would be an advantage.

· You will have excellent IT skills and demonstrate a flexible approach to your role.

About You

The post holder will have experience/background in:

· A caring profession ideally with experience of supporting people with disabilities.

· Setting up and running virtual groups.

This role requires extensive travel across a large geographical locality to visit people at home and in community settings. Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can meet this requirement of the role.

Health Trainer: Substance Misuse - Harrow

A Health Trainer, specialising in Substance Misuse is required to work on a rolling contract for one of the UKs leading Drug and Alcohol Charities.

This role is 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

· Identify and engage with individuals from agreed target groups providing information to individuals about the relationship between behaviours and health, and promoting improvement in their health and wellbeing.

· Support and motivate individuals, to identify their health needs and assess the barriers that prevent them from making healthy choices, assisting individuals to learn in learning how to make better health choices and support them in initiating and sustaining appropriate behavioural changes.

· Deliver outstanding client care, demonstrating empathy, understanding, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering a quality service.

· Keep abreast of the holistic range of services available in the community by developing links with service providers and keeping up-to-date with service changes and developments, in order to appropriately signpost individuals to the service then need when they need them

· Get involved with running events at the service for the different initiatives they provide, this can include speaking to clients at these events, as well as being involved in promoting them through creating posters, leaflets etc.

Experience Required:

· Experience of working with clients with substance misuse, eg. homelessness, drug and alcohol, housing

· Working with and engaging individuals and groups of adults

· Experience of actively engaging with local communities

· Experience of using Microsoft programmes (Word and Excel)

· Experience of team working

· Experience of managing a personal workload or caseload
