JOB TITLE: Service Manager

Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the work of Support Workers and Wardens, ensuring that the team are working efficiently and effectively, providing continuity of service for clients.
- Ensure organisational standards are being met in the accommodation service across all Hope properties.

Resolve Poverty is seeking a Network Development Coordinator to establish a cross-sectoral community of Liverpool City Region based stakeholder organisations. Working with this community, the Network Development Coordinator will identify opportunities to strengthen anti-poverty activities across the city region that align with Resolve Poverty’s strategic priorities to:
o Maximise the financial resources available to households
o Implement effective strategic responses to poverty
o Equip stakeholders with the knowledge they need to tackle poverty.
This exciting new role will enable you to harness the work of Resolve Poverty so that we can have impact across Liverpool City Region. You will join a dedicated and growing team working to maximise the impact of local responses to poverty in order to resolve poverty nationally.

The post holder will lead on the Foundation’s research communications activities, working closely with the Comms and Digital Lead to execute a research communications strategy. This will ensure that our supporters are kept informed on the latest research developments and enable us to demonstrate the impact of our research.
The post-holder will also support the delivery of our annual grant schemes, as well as helping to manage our portfolio of funded projects. This will involve close working with our Research Programme Managers and include administering, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of awards, ensuring the outputs are of the highest quality and supporting the charities activities.
The post-holder will have an important role to play in our busy and small-knit research team. They will be exposed to all aspects of grant management and use their communication skills to effectively share more information about the research we fund with our key stakeholders.

Research Communications

Work closely with the Communications and Digital Manager to oversee our research communications strategy and programme of activity;

Lead on the development of all external research communications activities to communicate the impact of our research and ensure our supporters are kept up to date with the latest developments. This includes developing news stories, blogs, newsletter content, infographics, research webinar series and our annual research impact report;

The role
The role is a member of the Senior Leadership Team with responsibility for programme management, overseeing all aspects of the governance and operational management of the Young Lives programme, including delivery of the multimillion portfolio of grants including the £9.4m FCDO funded ‘Young Lives at Work’ project in addition to a growing portfolio of complementary research grants. To ensure successful delivery of this complex and high-profile research programme, the post-holder will demonstrate excellent leadership skills and expertise in all aspects of programmatic and operational management, working with significant independent responsibility. They will work closely with the Young Lives Director, Senior Leadership Team and Country Directors (in four study countries) to provide strategic and operational leadership of the programme and will provide support and expert advice on external representation and fundraising, including representing Young Lives to external audiences and funders (notably FCDO).
The post-holder will ensure a cutting-edge approach to monitoring, evaluation and learning across the programme; grip financial management and operational delivery; facilitate the country leads in delivery of their programmes and plans; identify issues and risks and constructively and rapidly problem solve to overcome or mitigate them; and develop and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships with funders and partners.
The post-holder will lead the Programme Management team of staff and multiple consultants, with direct line management responsibility for at least three staff members. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, they will also share responsibility for overseeing the culture and impact of the team and wider partnership, helping to get the best individually and collectively from a variety of partners with diverse personal and professional backgrounds.

British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) is a membership organisation that brings together expertise from across the rheumatology profession, harnessing a wide variety of experience and skills to ensure we’re supporting our members to the very best of our combined ability. Our mission is to support members to deliver the best care at all stages of the rheumatology care pathway, focusing on communication, transparency and collaboration.
Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) is a fully Open Access journal that publishes quantitative and qualitative research on all areas of rheumatology and musculoskeletal practice. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy.
Job Purpose
The Editor-in-Chief will be appointed by BSR and the term of appointment will be for a five-year period. The Editor-in-Chief plays a key role in providing leadership, vision and strategy of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief for Rheumatology Advances in Practice (RAP) will work with BSR to develop and produce a high-quality journal as well as establish its strategic direction. They will be involved in keeping the BSR Board of Trustees and RAP Editorial Board as well as leading the social media presence of the journal.
The Editor-in-Chief will have a general responsibility to the broader rheumatology, paediatric, primary care and allied health community in communicating clinical and scientific advances and standards, to promote their needs and aspirations by commissioning content and planning Special Issues that will enhance the field of research, care and support for these communities.
The Editor-in-Chief will work with the Society and Publisher to ensure that it continues to meet its objectives and set strategic goals for the journal.
The general strategic aims and objectives of the journal are:
- Ensure robust ethical standards and high-quality peer review
- Grow quality and number of submissions and publications yearly
- Ensure international recognition and reach of this journal by publishing high quality scientific and clinical research from across the world, and maintaining an engaged international Editorial Board
The journal is an open access, go to resource for the rheumatology community, with a scope that encompasses the wide range of disciplines involved in the field. We recently received an impressive first impact factor of 3.1 and we are excited to continue to grow the presence of the journal internationally. As the journal is fully online and open access, we have exciting opportunities to provide a multitude of publishing services for our authors, in line with the industry standards and experimenting with new ways of publishing. We listen to the voice of the authors, readers, reviewers and board members to understand their publishing needs and are excited to trial new projects. For example, we recently launched a new article type called an ‘Atlas Review’ with a unique offer of unlimited figures, allowing authors to illustrate their important discussions and not limiting the capabilities via text exclusively.
Quality and ethical standards
The Editor-in-Chief will ensure an appropriate balance of good quality articles, so the journal addresses the needs of the multidisciplinary rheumatology community. The Editor-in-Chief will see that the journal maintains the highest ethical and moral standards. The journal must be seen to be fair and unbiased towards individuals and provides a comprehensive and balanced view of the specialty. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and committed to the highest ethical standards in journal publishing.
Conference attendance
The BSR, EULAR and ACR conferences provide an excellent opportunity to network with current and prospective authors, reviewers and Editorial Board members, as well as to commission new content for the journal and to provide social media updates. Conferences can also be used to arrange podcast and video interviews with authors, Board Members and colleagues. Delegate tickets to EULAR, the BSR Annual Conference and ACR will be covered by the British Society for Rheumatology and travel and hotel expenses will be covered as outlined in the budget.
Editorial support to the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief will receive day-to-day support for processing papers and managing peer review from the BSR in-house Editorial Office team, as well as support from contacts at Oxford University Press. Co-Editors, Associate Editors and wider Editorial Board also provide support and guidance to the Editor-in-Chief.
The relationship with the British Society for Rheumatology
The day-to-day contact with the BSR will be through the Editorial Office; however, the Editor-in-Chief will have several relationships as follows:
- BSR Journal Committee
The BSR Journal Committee will review and supply any feedback about overall advice given by the Editorial Board on the content, quality, standards, promotion, and performance of the journal to the Editor-in-Chief. The Journal committee is responsible for overseeing and approving the finances, scope and policies of Rheumatology Advances in Practice. The committee ensure actions decided upon further the work of the Journal and its development within the Journal’s aims and scope.
- BSR Board of Trustees, CEO and Senior Management Team
Advised by the BSR Senior Management Team, the BSR Board of Trustees approve the finances and strategy of the journal. Members of the BSR Senior Management Team attend the Journal Committee meetings. The Editor-in-Chief is asked to attend the BSR Board of Trustees on an ad hoc basis to provide an update on strategy and delivery.
- Rheumatology Editor-in-Chief
There is a transfer of papers model in place, so the Editor-in-Chief will have opportunity to collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief of Rheumatology to ensure the right papers are directed to the right journals by understanding the scope nd criteria of each journal. The journals share a X and instagram pages and marketing and promotional campaigns can be co-ordinated.
- Oxford University Press
OUP publish the journal on behalf of the BSR. OUP provides a full publishing experience with expert teams who advise and support on matters related to production, marketing and law, publishing ethics and strategy. The publisher, BSR and the EiC work closely to ensure the journal strategy is bespoke in order for Rheumatology Advances in Practice to maintain the current community, build the readership and authorship, and align with the visions and values of BSR. The Editor-in-Chief will meet OUP contacts at the Journal Committee Meeting and strategy planning meetings, as the publisher highly values the knowledge and experience of the Editor-in-Chief. Day to day communication will be via the Editorial Office to ensure smooth running of journal procedures.
Main responsibilities
- Work towards and guide the 5-year strategy for the journal
- Set strategic goals with BSR and the publisher to apply for further indexing, and maintain or grow the Impact Factor
- Work with BSR, the publisher and Editorial Board to target and commission reviews, original articles and special issues, and curate a sponsored supplement timeline
- Ensure that the journal’s scope is international and is reflected in its content

Support of The Friends contributes significantly to the Club’s financial recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
The Director of Fundraising will be expected to deliver in 3 key areas:
DEVELOPMENT OF THE MEMBERSHIP GIVING JOURNEY
- Enhance the Friends Scheme through life giving and particularly ending with the Legacy commitment:

Through our mentoring programme we connect 14-19 year old girls with a mentor and a wider network of role models who are women and deliver opportunities which help them to build life skills and nurture their ambitions. Based on the idea that 'you can't be what you can't see', our mentors often help girls to broaden their horizons and create a more positive vision of their futures. After the programme, the mentees can join a free, lifelong network of support - our Ambassador Community, which offers further opportunities to reach their goals, build their confidence and to share their voices and experiences.
Our programmes help girls and young women to develop the knowledge, skills, self-belief and opportunities to thrive, and to be supported as part of a network that champions them and ensures their voices are heard.
THE ROLE
Purpose: To manage the effective implementation of programme delivery and development of Merseyside, Tyne and Wear, and Tees Valley Regions. This role will work with staff, schools and corporate partners to ensure that we deliver impact for the girls and young women we serve.
Manage The Girls’ Network mentoring (and other) programmes in your region:
Partnership development:
- Develop effective partnerships with new schools, recruiting them into The Girls’ Network’s programme to enable your team to meet regional targets. Maintaining relationships for successful renewals.
- Collaborate with fundraising colleagues during the engagement process of new corporate partners, to ensure regional targets and needs are met e.g. income, mentor numbers, programme content.
- Oversee delivery of mentor opportunities for the region’s corporate partnerships, ensuring Memorandum of Understanding are met, referring any issues of concern to the Fundraising team for support and guidance.
- Provide relevant information to fundraising and Monitoring Evaluation Research and Learning colleagues on any Tier 1 partners in the region, to enable production of evaluation reports
- Lead on delivery of the region’s awareness events, acting as the key contact person.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising & Communications team on key campaigns, e.g. International Womens’ Day, to reach key audiences and help build awareness and support income generation.
Mentor Community Development:
- Work with programme colleagues and the fundraising team to identify regional mentoring needs and coordinate the implementation of a mentor recruitment and engagement plan in your region, ensuring your region has an appropriate amount of mentors to run programmes.
- Lead on the implementation and delivery of the region’s events, acting as the key contact person.
Safeguarding support and leadership:
- Provide day-to-day safeguarding support for the Programme team in the North of the country – escalating issues to the Safeguarding lead where appropriate.
- Provide feedback on key safeguarding risks or issues, and needs for development or training to the Safeguarding Lead
Monitoring and evaluation:
- Oversee the collection of regional data and ensure that your staff keep Salesforce up to date with mentee, mentor, schools and partners relationships to effectively track the progress, and impact of mentoring relationships.
- Periodically evaluate and report on the progress and impact of The Girls’ Network initiatives in the region.
- Hold overall responsibility for regional targets, reporting to Senior Leadership Team.
- Manage and allocate the budget for the mentoring programme in the region, to cover workshops, celebration events, travel etc
Line Management of region’s Network Managers:
- Manage Network Managers in the region, through regular 1:1s and accountability of reporting.
- Support the wellbeing and professional development of your regional team.
- Cover or support with programme delivery when needed.
Grow our network in your region:
- Identify opportunities for growth in North region and work with Senior Leadership Team to develop regional strategy
- Advocate and promote The Girls’ Network at every opportunity to raise awareness of the charity and encourage community members to become mentors
Programme Leadership within The Girls’ Network Team:
Learning & Development
- Provide shadowing opportunities to Network Managers in other regions.
- As agreed with the Co-Executive Director - Programmes (Interim), travel to other regions to provide targeted training to other Network Managers.
- Coordinate Network Managers’ induction and recruitment.
- Contribute to The Girls’ Network culture of shared learning
Responsibility for an additional workstream:
- Each senior network manager is responsible for progressing aspects of programme workstream to timelines agreed with the accountable member of Senior Leadership Team. These may vary with need over time. Workstream to be agreed with Line Manager, but may include worksteams such as:
- Programme Process and Resource Development
- Safeguarding
- Sales Development etc
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Essential skills, knowledge and attributes:
- You are deeply passionate and driven to achieve equal opportunities for all and will keep the girls we work with at the heart of everything
- You have excellent project management skills, are target oriented and will work towards achieving the Obejctives and Key Results of the role
- You care about the details and have excellent organisational skills, as well as being able to understand and drive towards the bigger picture
- You are excellent at managing a variety of stakeholders both face to face and at distance/online. You have the ability to create and maintain strong relationships with a variety of people from senior leaders in schools, local authorities, corporate organisations, line reports and volunteers
- You have line management experience
- You are flexible in your approach to working with a small organisation and understand the time and resources it takes to deliver
Desirable skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Have experience using a Customer Relationship Management system / Salesforce for tracking communications and income, and to create reports
- You have a high standard of computer literacy (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and are able to adapt quickly to new systems as required.
- You are proactive, solution focused and quick to learn
- You are able to plan and prioritise your own workload, supporting others to do the same
- You have experience of safeguarding young people.

As a Regional Outreach Officer, you will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, supporting and working alongside beneficiaries across the South East (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire) providing advice, guidance and advocacy support to achieve outcomes that will have a positive impact on their lives.
Led by the Regional Lead Outreach, you will form part of the Outreach team, working in collaboration with wider Outreach Service team members across the UK as required.
The role is homebased, with the requirement to travel for beneficiary face to face appointments and other organisational meetings and training across South East.
