Unpaid carers are the unsung heroes of our society. We are Greenwich Carers Centre - a well-established, highly regarded and much-loved charity dedicated to their support.
Becoming an unpaid carer is rarely a choice. Through accident, illness or injury, giving ourselves to the care and support of a loved one is something that one in every two of us will do at some point in our lives.
For many of us, caring becomes a 24-hour, year-on-year commitment - an expression of love that requires the gifting of our careers, our plans, and our lives.
For others, providing essential care whilst holding down a financially necessary job means balancing the needs of the workplace with needs of the care relationship. The competing pressures of work and caring are detrimental to wellbeing. Feelings of anxiety, stress and guilt are common to working carers and a risk to their emotional, physical and mental health. Life can become an endless struggle to hold everything together and not let anyone down. Working and caring can be downward spiral to not working at all. Many carers exit employment and continue to provide care in financial hardship and poverty.

Purpose of the role
This post will deliver a two-year funded project focused upon improving the lives of working carers by supporting their employers to provide more carer friendly workplaces. Working solely within the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the project will establish a network of Carer Friendly employers. It will raise awareness of the issues faced by working carers by engaging with private, voluntary and statutory sector employers across the borough. The project will support employers to provide more flexible working practices for carers within their employment.
To improve flexibility in the workplace to ease conflicting pressures on working carers
To support carers in sustaining employment
To support employers in becoming a GCC recognised Carer Friendly Employer
To agree working environment improvement action plans with employers
To support employers with implementing action plans
To sign off completion of action plans and issue status notice
To improve the visibility of carers in the workplace
To work with employers and their teams to improve understanding of carers
Key responsibilities
To plan project delivery and contribute to the development of annual project delivery plans, including identifying key project milestones and profiling project process and outcome targets
To lead on developing marketing tools, information materials and so on
To work towards the achievement of monthly and quarterly project delivery targets
To establish and work with a network of employers across the Royal Borough of Greenwich
To raise awareness of carers by delivering information workshops and/or training to private, public and voluntary sector employers, managers and staff teams
To work with individual employers to identify and action plan steps to reducing pressures on working carers by supporting employers to provide greater workplace flexibility.
To provide tailored action plans for employers and support and monitor progress towards completion.
To award recognition certificates thereby establishing a network of carer friendly employers
Develop and maintain relationships with community groups and voluntary, statutory and private sector partners with the express aim of raising awareness of caring and identifying hidden working Carers.
To set-up and chair a project steering group that includes carers and stakeholders. The group will meet regularly to support and progress the project.
Represent Greenwich Carers Centre by attending relevant local voluntary and statutory events and working groups as requested by line manager and participating with community events, including those held by Greenwich Carers Centre
Complete service monitoring requirements as requested by line manager. This includes excel-based KPI reporting and the development of sample case-studies
Work to individual work-performance targets as required by line management
Contribute to local authority quarterly monitoring reports as requested by line management
Attend team meetings, service reviews etc as required

Voluntary Services Officer

What is the role?
Reporting to the Head of Volunteering, Learning and Inclusion, and working in support of our community engagement strategy, the Voluntary Services Officer will maximise the benefits for the organisation of having a volunteer workforce that is embedded in the community we serve.
The postholder will induct and train volunteers, and support them with on-brand messaging and communication. They will also ensure our operations are fully resourced, and support the development of excellent volunteer management practices among our team of managers.

Key Tasks

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. In some services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. JOB TITLE: Community Mental Health Key Worker
INTRODUCTION
An exciting opportunity to work with the Islington Core community mental health multidisciplinary/multiagency team, which integrates services across Health, Social Care and the Voluntary & Community Sector.
The North London NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health and social care services, across five Boroughs. The Keyworker role will be based within the Islington Core Teams. The service provides five keyworkers to work across the localities in Islington. Three keyworkers are employed by Age UK Islington and two keyworkers by MIND Islington.

Highway House is a charity that has been providing all year round shelter and support services to the homeless for the past 15 years. Our work with the homeless has evolved an adapted from 2009 to date to offer the support most needed at any given time. Highway House received the Faith Recognition Award for providing specialist services by Her Majesty’s Lieutenant at the Royal College of Medicine in November 2017. We have received the best shelter of the year award 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 by the London Prestige Awards.
Summary of role
This post is responsible for ensuring that guests who attend Highway House are in the first instance made welcome. The primary role will be to engage those guests that attend the day centre and guests that are resident in the shelter’s accommodation in developing a pathway of support for them and help them move to the maximum independence they are capable of. Providing baseline and continuing monitoring of their progress will be required, as will working closely with the project manager.
Job Description
· Be responsible for receiving guests 2 days a week at the day centre
· Initial recording of guests details in database system
· Work with guests to identify their needs

As a Children and Young Person Caseworker you will be:
- Effectively manage a caseload of Young People aged 13+ affected by crime and traumatic incidents, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.

This role enables vulnerable people with mental health needs to maximise independent living skills and opportunities for social inclusion as wells as manage their tenancies. The purpose of this role is to support customers developing the skills needed to move on to other appropriate accommodation with lower levels of support and greater levels of independence.

This role is based in Dyfed Powys and is Hybrid.
As a Children and Young Person Caseworker, you will:
Effectively manage a caseload of Young People aged 13+ affected by crime and traumatic incidents, delivering excellent services which support the commissioners and their service goals to victims.
Ensure each victim receives an individually appropriate tailored support and information service that fully meets their needs, keeping complex needs central to all processes and decisions
Undertake risk and needs assessments to address the specific needs of the client in line with VS operating procedures. To follow relevant safeguarding policies and procedures, working with safeguarding leads and other agencies to ensure an integrated approach to address any safeguarding concerns.

Vine Court is a supported accommodation service providing on-site support Monday-Saturday 9am-7pm for up to 7 vulnerable and complex individuals with low to medium needs, who have experienced homelessness.
This role is Monday to Thursday, 10 hour shifts- 9am-7pm.
You will provide information, social inclusion and vocational opportunities to support people to recover and stay well; exercise choice and control in their care and lives; and participate on an equal footing in the community.
Look Ahead promotes PIE and trauma informed approaches to ways of working. This is an approach which was developed to support people out of homelessness, in particular those who have experienced complex trauma or are diagnosed with a personality disorder.
