What you will be doing
1. Lead the strategy and development of the messaging programme, which sits within the Comms Hub.
2. Monitor the wider political discourse and develop an analysis of the framing challenges and opportunities for progressive campaigners and communicators. This will include proactively identifying media moments (e.g. political and economic events, extreme weather moments) to amplify key messages and mobilise spokespeople.
3. Write regular rapid response messaging guides on breaking news stories and topics, (which include framing principles, key stats, common questions and responses and a round-up of public opinion); present messaging guidance and do active outreach to ensure the guides get widely used.
4. Collaborate with spokespeople to turn messaging guides into key media lines that can be used in a variety of broadcast and media in reactive and proactive settings, this will include providing 121 coaching and support.
5. Manage the messaging training offer within the hub, including delivering messaging training to the Spokesperson Network, designing and holding messaging sessions, working with messaging trainers and delivering regular messaging training. This will include our Messaging 101 course, drawing on the Race Class Narrative and global messaging training, which we run in collaboration with international messaging experts.
6. Lead NEON’s approach to narrative research, this will include commissioning research, such as public opinion polling and focus groups, and carrying out and synthetising research in-house.
7. Support and coach relevant organisations in our networks on their messaging, comms strategy and how to most effectively communicate their campaigns.
8. Play an active role in the wider Comms Hub, working with our press officer network and spokesperson network, attending and feeding into key delivery across the organisation and supporting the Director with overall strategy to make the Comms Hub a cohesive overall team
9. Oversight and control over Messaging Programmes finances and fundraising strategy
10.Play an active part in the whole NEON team, contributing to organisation-wide plans

About the role:

As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will:
- Implement effective ways of working with victims and those supporting them to increase safety and reduce harm.
- Provide a high-quality, front-line service to victims of domestic abuse, delivering a premium service prioritised according to risk, primarily focusing on victim/survivors aged 16+
- Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse.
You will need:
- Have a knowledge of help-seeking barriers and support needs of victims of domestic abuse (in heterosexual or same-sex relationships).
- Have a good understanding of domestic abuse including the impact of domestic abuse on victims and their children.
- Understand the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Understand safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
- Direct service delivery to victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
- Have excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals. Understand and be committed to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
- Have a strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

About the role:

The role
This role will play a key part in the success of fundraising at The King’s Trust International, both through managing a small portfolio of both philanthropy and corporate donors and more broadly through supporting the fundraising of the wider team. This exciting and varied role will provide key stewardship, reporting and event support as needed to cultivate and progress our funding pipeline. The postholder will work collaboratively across both philanthropy and corporate teams, supporting existing activity as well as helping to establish new areas such as networks and corporate engagement products.
The King’s Trust International’s celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 and this role will be central to the activity surrounding our celebrations including providing event support, creating engaging communications, and supporting campaign asks and prospecting across the team and senior leadership.

About you

Our charity provides vital support to the Usher community. In recent years, demand has grown for our services so this year we are very excited to be growing our staff team. The new Family Liaison Officer will work alongside our CEO and Events and Communications Officer, playing a vital role in providing both emotional wellbeing and practical support to our young people and their families.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Family Support Lead
As Family Liaison Officer, a big part of your role will be providing tailored support, information and advice to families from diagnosis onwards. This will include:
o Responding to enquiries from families
o Assessing support needs and signposting to external services as appropriate
o Providing follow-up remote support where required
o Providing face-to-face support at occasional clinics (normally based in London)
o Designing and maintaining support processes and systems
o Monitoring engagement and using insight gained to make recommendations for service improvement
Emotional Wellbeing Lead
As our lead emotional wellbeing practitioner, you will assist in the design and delivery of several of our projects and events. These will include:
o Providing support and facilitating daily group sessions with young people aged 11-25 at our annual USHthis! summer camp (in 2025, the camp will take place from Friday 25th July - Friday 1st August and you will need to be available for these dates)
o Help to deliver our one-day events in the spring and autumn
o Co-create the Empowerment Programme for 17-25 year olds with Usher syndrome. This is a pilot programme that aims to support our young adults in developing self-advocacy and identity alongside mentoring through the key milestones in young adult life
o Facilitate 1:1 and group sessions on the Empowerment Programme
o Facilitate monthly virtual USHchats for parents and carers (these take place one evening a month)
Across all aspects of the role, you will need to ensure the safeguarding of and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk who are engaging with Usher Kids UK.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Experience and Knowledge:
o Over 2 years’ experience of providing emotional wellbeing support to:
- children and adolescents
- parents/carers and family members
o Experience of supporting families with additional needs
o Experience of supporting families with sensory or dual sensory needs (desirable)
o Experience of family support case management
o Experience of facilitating 1:1 and group sessions
o Minimum of Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. youth work, health, social care, education)
o Computer literate and confident using MS Office software and video conferencing tools
o Good standard of written English and Maths (GCSE grade 5 or above)
o Good knowledge of safeguarding processes and systems
o Ability to deliver out-of-hours work to accommodate Usher Kids UK events and meetings

GPiMHS (General Practice Integrated Mental Health Service) is an emotional and wellbeing service that supports adults aged over 18 in primary care who are experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. Patients are offered extended consultation times, quick and easy access to practical advice and tailored support for their mental health needs from a multidisciplinary team.
Through sharing wisdom from their own experiences, you will inspire hope and belief that recovery is possible in others. As an integral and highly valued member of the team, you will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to people using the service in order for them to regain control over their lives and their own unique recovery journey. In particular, you will support the smooth transition of people using the service to other Mental Health services, by helping them to complete recovery and crisis plans for example. Within a relationship of mutuality and information sharing, they will promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles and connection to local communities.
The person who is successful in this role must also be willing to work towards co-facilitating a weekly peer support group. They must have good interpersonal and communication skills and keen to provide the highest quality experience for people using GPiMHS. Scope of role
The Head of Legal Advice oversees the delivery of comprehensive legal advice services, manages key relationships with existing funders and pro-bono partners, and actively seeks new partnerships to expand and enhance our services.
