The Magistrates’ Association’s aim is to help our members be the best magistrates they can be for the good of society. One of the key ways we do this is by helping them develop their skills and competences. About the role
We The Curious is about to enter an exciting new phase in its mission to connect and empower everyone through shared creative science learning experiences. It is nearly a year since we reopened and as we enter our 25th Anniversary Year there is lots to celebrate and talk about with our new multi-year strategy, Plan 2030 which encompasses numerous major projects for which we must develop and cultivate support.
The Development Team is responsible for fundraising across the whole organisation and the stewardship and development of our donors and supporters. The other members of the team are the Development Manager, the Gifts and Partnerships Manager and Development Account Manager. We are looking for a Trusts and Foundations Manager who is collaborative, organised and an excellent communicator to join the team to help us maximise and unlock some very exciting fundraising opportunities.
As Trusts and Foundations Manager you will use your skills in research and persuasion to identify grants funding opportunities, establish new relationships and write and submit proposals to trusts, foundations, Lottery funders, the local authority, universities and research councils. Working closely with the rest of the team and project managers from other departments you will raise between six and seven figure sums for our programme of creative science learning and inclusion projects.
What will you do in this role?
Role specific responsibilities
_Identify new grants funding sources, including trusts and foundations, research councils and statutory/government funders.
_Prepare and submit high quality funding proposals, expressions of interest and budgets in accordance with strict deadlines and application criteria, to a diverse range of funders, for up to seven-figure sums.
_Work closely with internal departmental teams to develop We The Curious projects so that they are ready for fundraising and write detailed and compelling cases for support that include timelines, budgets and evaluation and reporting plans.
_Support the funding applications of other partner organisations by collaboratively drafting budgets, attending project development meetings and writing letters of support.
_Support the Development Account Manager to cultivate potential funders, including attending on-site visits and events, phone calls and delivering presentations to secure support.
_Support the Development Account Manager to manage a portfolio of funders including overseas relationships, fulfilling reporting and public recognition requirements, thank you letters, regular communications and other correspondence.
_Liaise with the finance team to record new income and report on expenditure in accordance with funder deadlines.
_Support the Gifts and Partnerships Manager and Development Manager in identifying new strategic opportunities and exploring new types of income stream. This may include presenting to the leadership team. Contribute to the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including proposing financial targets for grants, lottery and research income.
_Work closely with the Open City Research (OCR) Manager to identify and pursue new funding opportunities for our ambitious OCR programme and work with the finance team to establish a new funding model for this activity. Support the Gifts and Partnerships Manager and Sustainability and Science Director in cultivating high-value stakeholders in STEM and research sectors.
_Assist in the implementation of the Development Team’s migration onto a new CRM database working closely with the Development Account Manager to customise the database for the Development team’s needs.
_Work with the finance team to understand our financial position and as requested by the Finance Director, contributing to key organisational financial documentation, such as the annual business plan.
_Manage Fundraising Volunteers supporting the administrative workload of the team and attend Volunteer Key Contacts meetings.
_Attend and occasionally present at We The Curious staff meetings, exhibition launches, project meetings, project development presentations and meetings as required.
General responsibilities
_Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of We The Curious’ planned activities for communities and schools to present our work persuasively to funders and partners.

What we’re looking for from you
_You’ll have at least three years of fundraising experience, with success at delivering against financial targets and strict deadlines. You’ll have the ability to network, build and manage funding relationships with a wide range of funders and other stakeholders.
_You’ll be confident explaining and pitching ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
_You’ll have experience of working very closely with project delivery teams to develop projects, ensure they know what they need to deliver for funders and monitor their expenditure.
_You’ll have excellent budget management skills, the ability to work independently and effectively and will be confident reporting on six or seven figure budgets.
_You will have good understanding of the financial and regulatory environment charities operate within.
_You’ll have some technical knowledge and experience at using and developing fundraising databases.
_You’ll have experience and confidence in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
_You’ll have the ability to understand We The Curious’ broad-ranging project content and tailor it to appropriate style and content for target funders.
_You’ll have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
_You’ll ideally have an understanding or experience of working in education, culture and/or science charities.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant Masters level qualification or similar academic achievement, and ideally with an academic focus on international development and/or a related certificate in
- Previous experience working in a Country Director or Regional Director role or other senior level leadership/management position in an INGO environment.
- Experience of working with organisations in developing countries, ideally in South and Southeast Asia.
- Experience of multiple donor grant management and reporting to major donors.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with people at various levels.

The Floating Support Worker will specialise in working with women for whom housing and risk of tenancy breakdown is a priority. You will provide specialist housing and domestic abuse support to women aged 18 and over. The accommodation needs of the women you support will require you to advocate and support for each woman efficiently and empathically, whilst liaising with providers and stakeholders to ensure her accommodation needs are met. The role is dynamic and requires the post holder to respond to women with effective crisis intervention, advocacy and support. They will be required to coordinate the provision of multi-agency support which focuses on working with clients to maintain their tenancies and prevent homelessness. The post holder will establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with housing services and partner agencies.
About You:
To be successful as the Housing Floating Support Worker, you will need the below experience and skills:
Solid experience of supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse in all its forms, come from a sector with transferrable skills or possess a feminist/VAWG degree and be keen to learn and to train on the job
A good understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic abuse (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families, and communities
Skills and experience in conducting comprehensive assessments of needs and risk for survivors experiencing domestic abuse, including carrying out short risk management and safety planning
Experience in assessing the needs and safety of any children that women using the service may have
An understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation with regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children
A good knowledge of safeguarding practice, procedures, and legislation
Other skills and experience:
Good data collection, monitoring and IT skills
A relevant qualification or training, for example in domestic abuse, criminal justice, law, social work, substance misuse or related area
Flexibility to work as part of Advance’s duty team on a rota basis which will involve completing intake assessments and providing crisis intervention support

The Programme Officer (PO) will be part of a five-person team, working under the direction of the Senior Programme Manager to advance the Foundation’s advocacy and creative work across and around our three thematic areas. The Programme Officer will play a leading role in integrating creativity into the Foundation’s advocacy work while making an important contribution to our flagship creative programmes. This role will design and deliver events, such as the Commonwealth People’s Forum and the Critical Conversations series, and support other advocacy initiatives.
The Programme Officer will also support our intergovernmental liaison and external outreach, maintaining effective relationships with the Commonwealth Secretariat and other key partners. About the role:
This part-time role is an enhancement to the existing One-Stop-Shop (OSS) with a specific focus on families, which brings together a range of organisations to work together in one location to offer advice and services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse. Currently the service operates 1 -2 day per week, offering specialist multi-agency support and with this enhancement of provision, this will enable an increase in the days the OSS is open and available, including the OSS Co-ordinator also being based in a greater variety of locations such as family hubs.
The One Stop Shop Coordinator will coordinate a range of organisations e.g. solicitors, housing, by-and-for organisations, DWP to work together in one location to offer advice and support service to victim survivors of domestic abuse. Their interaction with families will include being the first point of contact for families when they are entering the OSS, advising mothers of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies and direct them to the most appropriate service and, proactively assessing the needs and safety of children and women to ensure that any risks/needs identified are addressed.

About You:
To be successful as the One Stop Shop Co-ordinator you will need the below experience and skills:
A thorough understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence (physical, emotional and sexual violence, so-called ‘honour-based violence’, forced marriage, stalking and harassment) and its impact on women, children, families and communities.
Knowledge and understanding of the needs of women and children who are or have experienced domestic abuse and the practical and emotional support needs specific to this group including, education, confidence and relationship building.
Experience of partnership working and of maintaining excellent working relationships with a
range of stakeholders as well as experience of working within in multi-agency environment.
The ability to build and maintain a welcoming and safe environment where women, young people and community representatives can access support and make new connections.
Ability to develop and implement efficient administration processes for the smooth running of the OSS.

About the role
As one of two Regional Programmes Manager, you’ll inspire and lead a team of Senior Programmes Officers and Kinship Family Workers to effectively deliver high quality support services for kinship families across Greater London, the South of England and the Midlands.
You’ll do this by working in close collaboration with local authority teams who have commissioned our services and other funders where appropriate.

- Experience of leading and managing continuous improvement in changing contexts.
- Experience of governance and managing risk on high profile service delivery.

We The Curious is about to enter an exciting new phase in its mission to connect and empower everyone through shared creative science learning experiences. It is now a year since we reopened and there is plenty to celebrate in our 25th Anniversary Year. We have exciting projects which range from community and educational outreach through to preparing for some major capital projects for which we must develop and cultivate support.
The Development Team is responsible for fundraising across the whole organisation and the stewardship and development of our donors and supporters. The other members of the team are the Development Team Manager, Development Manager, Trusts and Foundations Manager and the Development Team Account Manager. We are looking for a Fundraiser to join the team, to help us maximise and unlock some very exciting opportunities.

About the role:
Birmingham Hippodrome has been entertaining audiences for over 125 years. The Finance Team is crucial to stewarding financial resources, meeting regulatory requirements, providing transactional services and delivering a range of reporting to enable the organisation in deliver its strategic aims.
The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance Team to provide compliant and effective finance services including transactional processing, financial accounting, financial planning and control, initiatives to improve financial performance and delivery of management information which supports strategic and tactical decision making. The post holder will work particularly closely with the Financial Controller and Chief Operating Officer to plan and deliver co-ordinated activity which provides excellent support for the organisation.
The organisation has an ambitious strategy which means that it has grown its workforce and the range of activities it undertakes and has more to achieve. It is taking on more activity with different accounting implications than in the past, such as loans, commercial property management and producing its own work for the stage. Capital projects are underway or having feasibility tested and we are at a point of change in how we work with some partner organisations. This means that we plan to increase capacity for financial planning, balancing capital and revenue expenditure, planning for organisation-wide impacts of activity and supporting partnership working.
As the Head of Finance, you will be pivotal in leading and developing the department and its relationship with both internal and external stakeholders. You will lead on the provision of accounting and financial management services for three companies in the Hippodrome group and some partner organisations, supporting a growing range of activity which brings new technical and support requirements. You will be joining a team of skilled professionals working hard to ensure that Birmingham Hippodrome’s strategic plans are underpinned by effective financial services.
About you:
Ideally you'll have most of the following:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA) - this is a must-have
- Technical knowledge of taxation and ability to research and implement new requirements.
- Knowledge and experience of accounting and tax technical considerations in a not for profit setting.
- Experience of reporting requirements of Charity Commission and Companies House.
- Practical experience of producing VAT returns.
- Experience of assessing employment or self-employment status.
- Proficient in implementation and use of accounting software.
- Able to assess and engineer systems of financial control to ensure an appropriate control environment.
- Ability to explain complex financial concepts to a range of stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt your management style to support team members with a wide range of experience levels.
- Ability to build constructive working relationships and look for positive and flexible solutions to challenges, while achieving necessary compliance.
- Experience of managing and developing a team.
- Experience of producing information for senior leadership and presenting it in appropriate format for their needs.
- Experience of producing statutory financial statements for a charity group.
