Social Media Jobs in Manchester
An opportunity to really make a difference.
Peaches Womb Cancer Trust was founded in 2020 by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated researchers, doctors and nurses working alongside Professor Emma Crosbie. Since then, the original founders have been joined by invaluable volunteers and 2 staff members to ensure we can raise awareness, support patients, fund and promote womb cancer research.
Womb cancer, also known as endometrial and uterine cancer, is the most common gynaecological cancer in the UK. Affecting approximately 9,700 people annually, most are diagnosed over 50 years of age and have gone through the menopause, but womb cancer can affect younger women too. When diagnosed at an early stage, womb cancer is often treatable: when diagnosed at early stages, 1 and 2, the survival rate is 92%. However, when the disease is diagnosed at later stages, 3 and 4, the survival rate reduces to 15%. Currently 1 in 5 women, or people with a womb, are diagnosed at advanced stages. Latest figures show that the equivalent of 27 people every day are receiving a new womb cancer diagnosis and 7 people are dying from this disease every day in the UK. More about HAMRAH
The HAMRAH Initiative is designed to address the significant challenges faced by Afghan civil society organisations (CSOs) forced into exile, particularly women-led organisations, as they continue to provide protection for vulnerable groups within Afghanistan. The initiative focuses on fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy to safeguard the rights of vulnerable populations, including women and girls.
Through sustained technical support and resources, HAMRAH aims to build a stronger Afghan civil society equipped with essential organisational infrastructure, leadership skills, and collaborative networks to preserve hard-won gains and advance rights and protections for vulnerable groups.
Currently, we are supporting 10 Afghan CSOs in exile, located around the world, that continue working partially or fully inside Afghanistan to protect vulnerable populations, including women and girls, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with disabilities.
More about Global Dialogue
We currently host seven large networks and collaborations, serving more than one hundred independent funders, including Ariadne, the network of European funders for social change and human rights; the Funders Initiative for Civil Society (FICS); the International Education Funders Group (IEFG); Migration Exchange; Philanthropy for Social Justice and Peace (PSJP) and HAMRAH, an initiative to strengthen the resilience and increase the impact of a cohort of Afghan civil society organisations in exile. We’re proud to have incubated several influential, award-winning charities, including Each Other (formerly RightsInfo), IMIX and The Five Foundation.
Global Dialogue has just completed year one of an ambitious three-year strategy which includes aspirations to be a trusted partner in philanthropy support, with an organisational approach that is consistent with our mission – endeavouring to practice rights, equity and diversity in our operations as well as pursuing it through our programmes. We want to be more visibly active in pursuing our mission, elevating the work of the programmes we host, and taking and making opportunities to promote rights, equity and diversity in philanthropy more broadly.
Overview
The Senior Programme Officer - Development & Advocacy will play a vital role in advancing the HAMRAH initiative and strengthening the resilience of cohort organisations through fundraising, research, joint policy advocacy, communication, and capacity development. This position requires a dynamic and caring professional with experience working with Global South CSOs, as well as the passion and empathy to drive strategic initiatives, build partnerships, and amplify programmatic impact. In this role, you will collaborate closely with HAMRAH's partner cohort organisations (10 CSOs in exile), mentors, the advisory board, and other key stakeholders. The right post holder will be comfortable responding to the needs of a cohort of organisations whose priorities may change, which can lead to working in ways that require flexibility. Based in: London office. (We are willing to consider remote working within the UK, with monthly in-person meetings in London, for the right candidate.)
Application deadline: 13th January 2025 (9AM)
Why this role is important – and why you’ll make a difference doing it:
HOPE not hate is the UK’s leading anti-fascist organisation. Our mission is simple – to monitor and challenge the far right, to engage in the communities that are susceptible to them and to address the issues and policies which give rise to them.
Our team includes researchers, educators, community activists and policy experts, as well as specialists with inside access to far right groups.
As a Content Officer, you’ll play a critical role in driving our digital engagement. By creating compelling content for our social media, website and email programmes, you’ll help us attract, inspire, and mobilise more people to stand against hate.
Your role will include:
-
Content Creation: Write, design, and produce engaging content, including social media posts, emails, website copy and more. Use tools like Canva, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and CapCut to create graphics and videos from new and existing footage.
-
Digital Campaigns: Work with the Digital Lead to plan and execute creative campaigns that inspire action and raise funds.
-
Audience Engagement: Build and manage our presence on Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, X, and BlueSky, and engage with supporters through other platforms. Act as the first point of contact for supporters, responding to messages and comments and managing replies.
-
Performance Monitoring: Run tests on content across platforms, analyse results, and use insights to refine and improve our engagement strategies.
What we think you’ll need to be able to do the job:
Essential
-
1+ year of experience in digital work for a campaign, charity, or political organisation.
-
Creativity and strong ideas for engaging content.
-
Experience in copywriting, graphic design, and video production and tools like Canva, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and CapCut.
-
Strong organisational skills, and ability to prioritise effectively.
Desirable:
-
Knowledge and experience in the areas we work on would be an advantage – tackling the far right; building community resilience against hate, division and oppression; and campaigning against policies that fuel hate.
-
Experience using tools like Engaging Networks or WordPress.
We are looking for someone with the emotional resilience to work in a field that involves challenging content, good political judgement and awareness and the ability to work under pressure and reduced timescales.
We believe that our work will be at its best if it is created by people with a range of backgrounds and experiences. We are keen to interview people who will add diversity to our team. We are an antifascist organisation, which strives to be an effective ally in the wider fight against racism and inequity.
