The Foundation relies on a combination of operational and voluntary income to fund its work, and we are looking to grow the contribution of Corporate and institutional funders to the current income mix, alongside a strong philanthropic base.

We are therefore seeking an experienced and dynamic Bid Manager (Corporate, Trusts and Foundations) to join our Development team and play a pivotal role in securing funding through successful corporate, trust, and foundation applications. The Bid Manager (Corporate, Trusts and Foundations) will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting high-quality, compelling funding proposals that bring to life the critical role the Foundation plays in ensuring that all young people have access to the Award, wherever they are or whatever their circumstances.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Family Support Service sits within AFRUCA as one of our most impactful programmes targeting families from a range of ethnic backgrounds across England and Wales. The service works closely with local authorities children’s services in cases involving families on child protection plans or in court proceedings. We provide direct one to one training and support for parents to aid their ability to provide appropriate parenting and ensure a safer, happier home environment for their children.

The AFRUCA Child Protection Service currently has a team of five qualified social workers and supports over 50 families each year. We also provide a therapeutic service where children are being reunified with their parents. We are establishing a child protection legal drop in service for families in contact with children’s services and an advocacy service for parents in the child protection system.

Most of our families are referred by local authorities children’s services as a result of cultural and religious practices which are deemed harmful to children’s well-being. We offer qualified social workers who do not wish to work in the statutory sector with an alternative approach to practising social work where empathy, kindness and support is key to our work with families. Our ultimate aim is a reduction of children in Black and Ethnic communities going into or remaining in foster care. We are recruiting a Policy and Campaigns Manager to take forward our work on household debt. This role plays a key part in our campaign to end the UK’s household debt crisis.

Over ten million people in the UK are now ‘overindebted’, meaning they are behind on bills or are finding their debt repayments a heavy financial burden. The crisis has been growing over the last decade but has increased dramatically because of the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis. More and more people are now borrowing to cover bills and essentials.

Our campaign combines community organising with national level campaigning and advocacy work to bring the voices of those most affected by the debt crisis to the fore in debates on policy solutions. You will use your policy and campaigning expertise to help ensure the people most impacted by problem household debt have a say in influencing the policies that affect them. You will work on issues such as the growth in council tax debt and bailiff use, the huge build up in energy debt as a result of the cost of living crisis and making insolvency policy and practice fairer and more accessible so more people can get out of debt.

You will be a key member of our household debt project team, working alongside the Head of Campaigns, Head of Policy and Advocacy, Digital Campaigner and Lead  Organiser.

We are looking for someone with great policy analysis and advocacy skills, a strong campaigning mindset, and a passion for social justice. We are not expecting you to already be an expert in all aspects of the role or in household debt policy but are looking for someone with the potential to develop quickly. Crucially, you will also need to appreciate why taking a community organising approach and building the power of people affected by debt is important, though you do not need to have experience in community organising.

The Role

As the Senior Fundraising Manager, Grants & Tenders, you will play a vital role in driving the growth of voluntary income, with a target of reaching £5,000,000, and expanding the reach of the Family Hub services across the UK. This role is not just about numbers—it's about transforming lives.

About the Business Development Officer Role:

In this key position as Business Development Officer, you will manage and maintain relationships with partners and external providers, whilst supporting the design and delivery of a long-term programme of bespoke educational activities and opportunities. Significantly raising the profile of the charity, you will assist in shaping the educational offering to keep it relevant and exciting, implement visionary marketing and social media plans, as well as generate and utilise market research to support decision-making. You will actively identify opportunities for business growth and network extensively to build new contacts.

About you:

As an experienced and adept relationship builder, you will need an exceptional level of commercial acumen. You will be skilled in capturing interest and cementing loyalty. You should be well versed in project planning, understanding engagement data, monitoring and delivery; confident in contributing to successful marketing strategies; and you will bring a strong interest in our activities and mission, to Inspire Women.

A background within a charity or public sector organisation would be beneficial, as would experience of marketing and budgetary management, but your motivation, drive and tenacity, as well as having excellent organisational and communication skills, will be key to your success in this role.
