Job Description and Person Specification 

Reporting to: Head of Philanthropy in the Fundraising Team 

Location of Work: Home based. The post holder will be expected to travel to meet donors, travel to away days and team meetings in London. The role may involve some irregular travel throughout England and Scotland. Expenses will be paid in line with our Travel and Expenses policy. 

Contract Type: Ideally full-time, 35 hours per week, although part time / flexible hours may be considered. The role may require occasional evening and weekend work  

Contract Length: Permanent

Salary: £37,500 

BACKGROUND 

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity that exists to make sure no child or young person is too hungry to learn. We provide nutritious breakfasts and expert support to primary, secondary, ASN/SEND schools and pupil referral units in disadvantaged areas of England and Scotland. Providing a daily school breakfast ensures that every child and young person feels included, equal and set up for success. Magic Breakfast works to be part of the solution to end child morning hunger for good through our campaigning, research and advocacy work with politicians and decision-makers.

JOB PURPOSE 

Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good the Philanthropy team’s role is to develop and deliver the charity's high net worth individual giving programme in line with Magic Breakfast’s strategic priorities to enable our organisational growth against our mission. 

We are seeking to grow income through further cultivation and stewardship of our potential and existing donors. Our High Value Giving teams are forecast to collectively raise £5.1m in 2021/22, up from £4.6m two years ago in 2019/20. The team includes partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations, corporate organisations, and high-net-worth individuals. 

Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy, this role will have a particular focus on ensuring that Magic Breakfast is offering the highest quality of donor care from start to finish, and building and developing our prospect pipeline.

We’re looking for a proactive person with excellent relationship building, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship skills as we seek to build our prospect pool, enhance or supporter journey and achieve our ambitious fundraising targets.

The Philanthropy Manager will have the opportunity to be innovative and creative, to create and test impactful donor journeys and engagement opportunities so Magic Breakfast’s supporters feel valued and can understand the transformational difference they are making to hungry children and their learning in the UK. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Income generation and donor stewardship and prospect development 

• Manage your own portfolio of donors, providing excellent stewardship and strategies to uplift and secure multi year donations 

• Work with Corporate, Trusts and Individual Giving teams to identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Magic Breakfast’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships; 

• Work with the Head of Philanthropy and Prospect Researcher to build a Philanthropy prospect pipeline 

• Write accurate, inspiring and compelling fundraising propositions and reports for potential and existing major donors 

• Review and make recommendations for improvement of our existing donor journey, building a calendar of engaging content and touchpoints throughout the year. 

• Lead on devising, developing and organising bespoke events for donors and prospects 

• Complete timely event reviews to improve and inform future decision making and planning.

• Work in partnership with the wider fundraising teams to provide excellent supporter care to all event attendees and stakeholders. 

• Support the Head of Philanthropy to build relationships with senior volunteers to garner their support with hosting and supporting events to connect us to, and unlock, their networks. 

• Use our CRM database (Salesforce) to log KPIs, project and reconcile finances and manage supporter relationships 

• Use KPIs to adapt strategies and drive activity 

• Be responsible for ensuring an up-to-date bank of engaging content and materials for existing partners, including but not limited to, commissioning video content, compiling reports and building case studies. 

• Scan the external environment for trends, insights, ideas and best practice that could benefit the High Value Giving teams and Magic Breakfast’s work, making recommendations for improvements and leading on opportunities as they arise.

Internal 

• Work with wider Fundraising team to help create and deliver cross departmental  events, and identify referral opportunities (to Trusts and Corporates) 

• Develop strong relationships with Service Delivery and Policy and Engagement colleagues, involving them in meetings with donors where appropriate to strengthen those relationships and engage them further 

• Work with Service Delivery to identify, plan and co-ordinate school visits for donors and prospects 

Financial processes, reporting and due diligence: 

• Ensure all donations are thanked and recorded in a timely way, and logged accurately on salesforce 

• Support Head of Philanthropy in accurately forecasting philanthropy income for each financial year, and ensure forecast income is updated monthly.

•  to the philanthropy budget and goal with wider awareness of org and F&D goals 

• Work with Prospect Researcher to ensure all due diligence checks on donors are completed, and that they meet our criteria in our ethical fundraising policy, flagging any risks upwards for resolution.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Knowledge and Experience 

• Experience planning and managing meaningful donor cultivation and stewardship events to achieve strategic objectives 

• Experience delivering Gala or large special events with proven financial results 

• Experience of managing income and expenditure budgets 

• Experience of working with external event operations crews and contractors

• Experience of management of event and volunteer staff 

• Experience of upward management and working with senior volunteers / Trustees

Human Practice Foundation (HPF) is searching for a UK Country Manager to join the team and further establish the organisation in this market. The charity’s mission is to work sustainably and holistically to build schools and bring 1,000,000 children into a safe and empowering educational environment, with a focus in Nepal and Kenya. 

The UK Country Manager will prioritise continuing the growth of the charity’s funds and will work with an existing network of trusts & foundations and philanthropic individuals, as well as continuing to spread HPF’s message.

Role purpose and dimensions:

• Design and implement a UK Fundraising Strategy, particularly aimed at foundations, institutions, corporates and High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWI) in the UK, capable of delivering significant income growth over the next 3-5 years.
• Independently manage a portfolio of prospects and funders, as well as high level volunteers, with the capacity and propensity to give significant funds in support of HPF’s work. This will involve managing and meeting all application deadlines.
• Identify, research, qualify and manage a pipeline of funding prospects.
• Develop a range of funding proposals, pitches and appeals, to successfully solicit funds.
• Design and implement a donor cultivation and stewardship programme, including a combination of events, proposals, reporting, communications and visits.
• Network on behalf of the foundation, representing HPF at the highest levels and at a wide range of events, working with existing and developing new contacts to secure vital introductions.
• Oversee the governance of the UK operation, including all statutory reporting requirements.
• Regular narrative, financial and KPI reporting to the UK Board and to Copenhagen, including provision of board papers ahead of/ presentations at Board meetings.
• Contribute towards key global initiatives and projects, and lead on Foundations fundraising across HPF.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

• Senior fundraising professional with proven leadership skills and at least three-years’ experience in a not-for-profit organisation
• Strong track record of securing significant donations and grants from foundations and/or institutions (six-figures +). References will be required.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of delivering successful funding applications, proposals and pitches
• Self-starter, able to operate independently, whilst also able to engage meaningfully in virtual team working with other senior colleagues.
• A proactive networker, able to act as a spokesperson and ambassador for HPF at the highest levels.
• Experienced relationship manager, able to build and maintain relationships with funders, as well as experience working with senior staff, board members and volunteers to cultivate donors.
• Demonstrable experience of setting and achieving ambitious fundraising strategies and plans.
• Able to work at both a strategic and operational level.
• Experience of working closely with and reporting to Boards of Trustees.

After witnessing the devastating fates of girls being trafficked from Nepal to India for sexual exploitation, Pernille decided to commit her life to providing education and opportunities for those who need it the most.

The context for this role: 

This new position, created to lead HPF’s mission in the UK, and lead Trust and Foundation fundraising efforts globally, is a fantastic opportunity for a self-starter to build on HPF’s success and grow its income from UK and international foundations, institutions and corporations, as well as UK-based high net worth individuals.

Summary of position​​

Art Explora is looking for an experienced Community Programme Manager with a passion for arts engagement and cultural outreach to manage and build our innovative Community Programme for Art Explora in the UK. ​​

The Community Programme Manager will lead on and develop Art Explora’s key community programme streams – Arts at Home, Theatre at Home, Music at Home, Mini Art Explorers and Art Explorers at..., and manage Art Explora UK’s growing volunteer community. The Community Programme Manager will explore ways to expand the content for this programme though new partnerships with museums, galleries and other cultural institutions, as well as expand the programme into more care homes and other care settings, such as hospitals, across the UK.  ​

The Community Programme Manager will manage Art Explora’s growing pool of 140+ volunteers. They will ensure that Art Explora has a comprehensive and supportive volunteer offer. About the role​

The Community Programme Manager will bring their own experience and knowledge of outstanding community programming to build on and expand the current programme. The Community Programme Manager will manage partnerships with key stakeholders and develop new relationships with a variety of partners, from cultural institutions to new care settings. ​​​

The Community Programme Manager is a pivotal position within the small, dedicated and growing Art Explora team in the UK. The Community Programme Manager will be supported by a Community Programme Assistant and the volunteer community. We are looking for a candidate with management experience.  ​​

To achieve this, the chosen candidate will not only have a passion for arts outreach and engagement, but will also have a proven track record in project management, managing volunteers, excellent organisation and communications skills, and be experienced in building relationships at all levels – with community organisations such as care homes, volunteers, local authorities, content and delivery partners, senior stakeholders, collaborators and supporters. ​

Person Specification​​

Essential skills and experience ​

• At least 5 years’ experience delivering arts and cultural outreach programmes, for example within an education and engagement team for an arts organisation, or working directly with community organisations or within the care sector​

• Proven experience of volunteer management including recruitment, training, logistics and personnel management​

• A good knowledge of arts engagement practice in the UK and leading organisations in this field ​

• A proven track record of budget management and event coordination​

• Some experience of fundraising from public sector, trusts and foundations​

• A confident communicator (oral and writing), with an enthusiasm for building creative partnerships and capable of working with a wide range of senior stakeholders and partners ​

• A good knowledge of cultural policies and current cultural engagement landscape​

• Experience of implementing EDI policies and good practice, with passion for driving EDI related change in the arts and cultural sector

As Trusts and Statutory Executive, you will work alongside a supportive team including the Fundraising Manager and Senior Fundraising Manager, and you will be overseen by the Head of Trusts and Statutory. You will support the team with key stakeholders such as Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Garfield Weston, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Comic Relief, and Arts Council England.

This is an excellent role where you’ll manage your own portfolio of trusts and statutory supporters at 4-5 figure level and given exposure to manage 6 figure accounts. You’ll be a key member in the team in cultivating high-value relationships to generate income for various programmes to support the National Literacy Trust.

As Trusts and Statutory Executive, you will:

• Manage a portfolio of trust and statutory funders at 4-5 figure level supporting a team target of £6m
• Research, identify and cultivate new charitable trust grant funders to build the funding pipeline
• Manage and grow an existing pipeline of charitable trusts, with a focus on increasing grant giving
• Lead on small and medium-value funding applications and reapplications across NLT’s programmes

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Fundraising experience in trusts, corporate, community development, education or health charity
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, and the relationship between prospecting, cultivation, application and stewardship to secure regular and multi-annual grants
• Excellent written and spoken communications, including attention to detail and ability to write a compelling case’s for support
• Experience of building strong relationships and working collaboratively

The City and Guilds of London  Art School is a small, independent Higher Education Institute. It traces its history back to the 1850s and has strong links to a number of City Livery Companies as well as certain Trusts and Foundations and individual donors. You will manage our Big Change Strive Network: a group of high-value donors who share our values and back our core work. To do this successfully you will be confident in building on strong existing foundations by working with those who have taken part in our Strive challenges and been a part of our ‘catalyst circle’, and you will play a crucial role in deepening and expanding the network and its visibility. There is space for a creative approach in this role because we want to take our incredible supporter network to a new level. Not only will you be leading a large part of Big Change’s fundraising efforts, but you will also be making and introducing new connections that will help to enrich and evolve the Strive network. 

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Development, this role is essential in building and maintaining relationships that drive philanthropic support and advance Big Change’s mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in major donor engagement, building network identities, network development, managing communities and project management. An interest in systems change is a bonus.

What you’ll be doing (Key Responsibilities):

1. Fundraising Strategy Implementation:

• Support the Director of Strategic Development to develop and refine fundraising and partnership goals and objectives.

• Execute the organisation’s fundraising strategy, working as part of the Development Team towards a shared target, with a focus on major gifts.

• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, populating the organisation’s pipeline, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and project needs 

• Work with team members in each area of the organisation to develop a strong model for donor collaboration linked to impact.

• Monitor market insights and adapt to fundraising trends and donor behaviours.

2. Strive Network Management and Development/ Donor Community Development:

• Lead the management and growth of a mission-aligned network, engaging high-net-worth individuals, including those who participate in Strive Challenges.

• Develop and implement strategies to deepen relationships within the Strive Network, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

• Work with our comms and marketing team to develop the donor network’s shared purpose, vision statement, brand identity and visibility.

• Oversee the careful research, qualification and stewarding of new partnerships that will help to enrich and evolve the Strive network towards inclusivity and participatory approaches.

• Co-develop value propositions with existing members of the Network to encourage others to join the group.

• Create opportunities for the Strive Network to connect with and add value to our community of changemakers on the ground (eg. mentoring, connections, follow on funding).

3. Major Donor Engagement:

• Lead on relationship management with existing major donors, designing tailored stewardship and ensuring ongoing engagement.

• Review, evaluate and further develop key touchpoints with major donors, collaborating with team members across the organisation and other funders where appropriate.

• Accountable for the identification, cultivation, and welcoming of new major donor prospects, with a focus on diversifying and expanding the Strive Network beyond its current reach.

• Oversee the production of personalised proposals, presentations and reports, sparking ongoing engagement with the network and linking their contributions to Big Change’s community and impact.

• Work closely with the Director of Strategic Development in managing high-profile donor relationships and securing multi-year commitments.

3. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members.

• Work closely with other teams at Big Change to ensure alignment between fundraising activities and organisational needs.

• Develop, inspire, motivate others to fulfil their potential and foster collaboration across Big Change and its community

4. Data Management and Reporting:

• Working closely with the senior leadership team, track and report fundraising progress, ensuring transparency and accountability in all pipeline development activities.

• Oversee the management of donor databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of all fundraising activities.

• Track and analyse engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.

• Responsible for compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards in fundraising activities.

Experience:

• Highly experienced in fundraising, major gifts, network development, or related roles.

• Proven experience of building a community with shared identity, values and purpose.

• Facilitation of co-design processes, or related experience of such approaches.

• Strong experience of designing engaging events, experiences and creative communications.

• Experience with working across UK and US markets isn’t necessary but would be desirable

War Child believes that children’s lives should not be torn apart by war. It is the only specialist charity for children affected by conflict, with four main areas of work: protecting children, educating children, supporting communities and campaigning.

It’s an exciting time to join War Child as they have recently launched their new Alliance initiative. The War Child Alliance brings together the five War Child fundraising members (in the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Sweden, plus Children in Conflict in the US), with 14 programme members, based in and around conflict-affected areas across the world and coordinated by a new international body: the War Child Alliance Foundation. As part of the Trusts and Institutional funding team of four you’ll work alongside the Head of Trusts and Institutional, Trusts Manager, Trusts Executive and be line managed by the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Lead. Your key objective is to provide operational, administrative, and analytical support to the team to grow income and enable War Child to deliver quality programmes, by ensuring compliance with quality and donor requirements, contributing to effective risk management, providing support for the different donor accounts and ensuring processes and systems are in place, implemented and efficient. As Trusts and Institutional Funding Executive, you will: 

• Develop donor profiles by conducting research on potential donors, including their funding focus, giving history, and connections to War Child
• Plan and prepare meetings with donors by collaborating with senior colleagues and stakeholders to determine strategic objectives and key messages
• Monitor and share potential funding opportunities with the relevant Donor Account Managers within the Trusts and Institutional Funding team

The Fundraising team is a small but mighty national team. Income is generated through High Net-Worth Individuals, Corporate Partnerships and Trusts & Foundations. Our Corporate Partnerships function is led by a Senior Manager along with a Volunteering & Partnerships Manager and Fundraising Officer. Many of our Corporate partners are multi-year and strategic. 2023/24 will see MyBnk continue to grow, raising £4m and beyond as we build our national team and deliver more expert-led financial education through our award-winning programmes.

The Corporate Partnerships Manager will lead several existing corporate partnerships to ensure that they deliver significant impact, engage staff, and raise awareness of the importance of quality financial education across the UK. Staff engagement and senior stakeholder management will be key deliverables in addition to fundraising product innovation and maintains MyBnk’s high partnership retention rate. 

Our Business Development Team is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for a motivated, driven and proactive individual to join us as a Business Development Manager . You will be responsible for driving our new business strategy, aiming to secure new partnerships across education and raising our profile within Senior Leadership, as well as delivery teams. You will also play a significant role within the Business Development Team to provide both internal and external support, which will be both colleague and customer focussed. The successful candidate will understand the importance of developing an implementing new business strategies. They will be looking for an opportunity to demonstrate their sales and growth mindset within a strong team environment. The main purpose will be:

1. Deliver sales targets in line with business development strategies.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

2. Identify and develop profitable growth opportunities with customers, partner networks and key stakeholders.

3. Collaborate with the Market Development Manager to include emerging programmes in maximising growth and expansion opportunities with centres.

4. Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to create new business campaigns and activities.

5. Co-ordinate tactical activities to engage with new audiences i.e. webinars and conferences.

6. Responsibility for ensuring all management information and relationship management insight relating to prospective/new centres is captured.

7. Monitor performance of commercial activities utilising insight systems to prepare reports and forecasts for the Head of Business Development and wider Leadership Team.

8. Conduct regular research and analysis on commercial opportunities to reach new audiences and expand/grow delivery.

9. Work alongside Innovation, Marcomms and Quality Assurance team colleagues to attract, engage and delight customers under the Customer Experience strategy.

10.Alongside the Head of Business Development and Director of Engagement, review, explore and consider future pricing models aimed at increasing the average spend of centres, supporting ‘a whole education leadership offer’.

11.To carry out any other duties as requested to support the work of the Leadership Skills Foundation commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of the post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
