About the role
We’re seeking a solicitor to lead the development of a new legal advice service for kinship carers. Joining an established advice team in a growing national charity, this is a new role focussed on delivering specialist legal advice to individuals and changing policy and practice through strategic casework.
Importantly, the postholder will have the opportunity to shape the role to best meet the needs of Kinship and kinship carers.
You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team who keep kinship carers at the heart of their service.
Our Advice Team supports kinship carers in complex and challenging situations. It can be a tough role at times, so we prioritise adviser wellbeing and are developing a trauma informed approach to our advice work that we’ll be embedding across the service.
The type of person we’re looking for
You will be a 3 year PQE solicitor with strong knowledge of child law, family court processes and related safeguarding legislation. You will have the ability to become a leading expert in kinship care law. You will bring a compassionate and practical approach to supporting kinship carers to navigate legal challenges, access support, and achieve the best outcomes for the children in their care.
You will understand the broader systemic challenges faced by kinship carers, be a strategic thinker and have an interest in service development and policy influencing.
You will need to be resilient and be able to remain calm in difficult situations. You will be firm, sensitive and professional in your approach and will be clear and assertive as you identify key issues and support kinship carers to get their needs met quickly and effectively.
You will understand how important it is that kinship carers feel confident in making their own decisions with the right information and advice so that they can build their own knowledge and confidence rather than dependency.
Key responsibilities include:
· Provide high quality, people centred, specialist legal advice and assistance to kinship carers in England and Wales on kinship care law-related matters.
· Undertake casework and strategic casework.
· Lead the development of Kinship’s legal offer to kinship carers.
· Provide support, resources and training to colleagues in the advice team to support the quality of legal advice.
· Ensure our legal service is compliant with all relevant regulatory requirements.
· Work with our Policy and Campaigns team to identify opportunities for influencing policy and practice through strategic casework, litigation, policy work or campaigning.
· Support colleagues in our Training and Website teams to develop legally accurate content and resources.
Essential knowledge, abilities, skills and experience include:
· A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in child law, family law, or closely related fields.
· Experience in both private and public law child-related cases.
· Strong knowledge of child law, family court processes, and related safeguarding legislation.
· Ability to provide clear, accurate, and practical legal advice tailored to the individual circumstances of vulnerable people.
· Excellent written skills and research skills.
· Strong organisational skills to prioritise tasks effectively, meet deadlines, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
· Confident in using digital tools, and an ability to learn new tools.
•Strong ethical standards and a passion for supporting vulnerable individuals to obtain access to justice.

Our Gambling Outreach And Living Support service GOALS is our community-based support service that provides bespoke and holistic 1:1 and group support to individuals and affected other impacted by gambling harms.
Our aim is to deliver an impactful GOALS service across London which builds effective networks of support for people before, during and after treatment.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to engage with communities across London, delivering the GOALS service and raising awareness of gambling-related harm through in-person community engagement. The role involves building strong, effective networks of support for individuals before, during, and after treatment, with a particular focus on those with lived experience of gambling harm and its effects on others.
As a key member of the team, the GOALS Community Supporter will work directly with individuals impacted by gambling harm, providing one-on-one support in a safe and confidential environment. The role also involves proactive outreach within the community, collaborating with local authorities, public sector bodies, businesses, and charitable organisations to raise awareness of gambling harm and promote available services.
Collaboration with key stakeholders in local authorities, public health sectors, and charitable organisations is essential to expanding the reach of the service, advocating for gambling harm awareness, and developing sustainable support networks. The post holder will also work closely with the GOALS Service Manager to ensure the integration of the service within the broader framework of local and national gambling treatment systems. This includes attending relevant events, networking with key stakeholders, and promoting other Betknowmore services to enhance the overall impact of the work.
Qualifications or Relevant Experience

A leadership role in a flagship criminal justice service
As one of two Senior Coordinators who lead the IRS Wellbeing team you will be an essential part of delivering and developing a flagship criminal justice service, demonstrating how person-centred support can help people with a history of offending to make progress in their lives.
You will line manage two Team Leaders, and a wider team of six Project Workers. This is a leadership role with responsibility for guiding the team and developing the offer in keeping with the contract and Back on Track’s way of working. You will specifically lead on monitoring the achievement of key performance indicators, ensuring contract compliance and maintaining quality across the service. You will need to have a strong handle on the data and monitoring aspects of the contract, making sure that processes are understood with the team fulfilling the requirements for recording data. You will take responsibility for analysis of this data for the purpose of helping the service and the whole partnership to learn and improve.
We are looking for someone who is proactive and flexible, with good organisational skills and familiarity with using databases, dashboards and spreadsheets for reporting purposes. We are recruiting for a Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.
The post holder will provide line management and high-quality support to the direct reports in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.
Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting. In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors. You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.
As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota. Please note that this is an on-site role.

About the Project
Herts Mind Network (HMN) has formed a partnership with Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust (HPFT) to deliver support in the Mental Health Urgent Care Centre (MHUCC) at Lister Hospital.
The MHUCC provides a dedicated space and service for rapid mental health assessment, intervention, and referral, thereby enhancing the quality of care and optimising use of systemwide resources. It provides 24-hour access to specialist mental health assessment aimed at supporting service users to access the least restrictive care and treatment options. It creates a systemwide response to acute mental health crisis that enables people’s needs to be met with the right care at the right time.
About the Role:
The Support, Time and Recovery (STAR) Worker will be based at the Mental Health Urgent Care Centre at Lister Hospital, promoting joint working and creating a seamless pathway into community support for clients recovering from mental ill health.
The STAR workers will work closely with individuals in a mental health crisis currently in the MHUCC, by using a person-centred approach to ensure that everyone is supported with dignity and respect.
You will have a key role with safe and supportive observations and attending to the service users on the unit. You will provide support for carers and liaise with the wider services to support smooth and timely discharge of service users back to the community.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a consistent presence in the MHUCC for individuals with mental health needs to access for support.
- To advocate for service users, explaining organisations and pathways.
- To provide immediate information and advice about managing wellbeing, reducing risk and onward signposting and referral into wider HMN services and VCFSE organisations.
- To facilitate a clear and easily accessible pathway into the wider Nightlight Crisis Alternative services for individuals, to support timely MHUCC discharge, as an alternative to statutory crisis intervention, or as a supplement to wider care and treatment plans.
- To gather feedback and evaluation on patient experience in the MHUCC
- To develop sound and extensive knowledge of local resources to support in enabling appropriate referrals where necessary.
- To link in with wider Herts Mind Network services and facilitate referrals
- To ensure that a collaborative approach is used, with effective communication links developed with external professional NHS services and to work as an effective member of any multi-disciplinary team. This will require stringent relationships.
- To support individuals to develop sustainable local social networks, both through our HMN Wellbeing Centres and other community services and resources.

The purpose of this role is to provide step-down support to service users who have received support from the Angelou service, the domestic abuse service operating in Hammersmith, Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea
This role will provide a bridge between IDVA support and case closure, offering a service to women who require additional ongoing support, such as support with ongoing safety, wellbeing, or achieving independence. Have a thorough understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on women, children, families and communities. Experienced of supporting women who have experienced domestic violence, forced marriage or ‘honour’-based violence. Experience of crisis management and successfully managing a busy and complex caseload and experience of risk and needs assessment and safety and support planning, particularly with clients with complex/multiple needs.

About the Head of Advocacy & Support role
We are looking for maternity cover for the Head of Advocacy & Support to lead Galop’s specialist advocacy services, providing support to LGBT+ victims and survivors of abuse and violence in the UK. You will work alongside our other Heads of Services to deliver advice, support, and advocacy to thousands of LGBT+ victims and survivors of interpersonal abuse and violence each year.
You will lead a large, dispersed team of specialist advocates, including IDVAs, ISVAs, CHISVAs, CHIDVAs, specialist hate crime advocates, and multi-disciplinary caseworkers and support workers. Managing a team of advocacy managers and senior advocates, you will ensure that survivors have access to needs-led, timely support that is right for them, maintaining high quality, consistent support across its advocacy and one-to-one support, whether that is in-person or remote. You will ensure that advocacy and casework services are delivered effectively, and that clients receive a consistent and high-quality service across the team.
You will have expertise in leading complex, needs-led specialist support services. You will need to be solutions-focussed and enjoy working collaboratively across a diverse and committed team. The IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process. Have a relevant qualification or training, for example in domestic abuse, criminal justice, law, social work or other related area. Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector. Bring an excellent understanding of the criminal justice system and relevant legislation, with particular regard to legal and civil options, housing, benefits, matrimonial and children with experienced as a domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs.
You are skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. - Do you have at least 1 years supervisory and shift leader experience in a residential care or similar setting?
- Do you have the ability to demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures?
- Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills?
- Do you have direct experience of managing a team and knowledge and skills around supporting children and young people with a learning disability and /or Autism?
- Do you hold a Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare OR are you willing to complete this in the required timeframe?
- Most importantly, do you enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with Children and Young People?
