World Cancer Research Fund explores how diet, weight and physical activity affect your risk of developing cancer. As an international network of charities, we’ve been funding life-saving research, influencing global healthcare policy, and educating the public on how to make informed choices since 1982. While society continues to search for a cure, our prevention and survival work is helping people to live longer, happier, and healthier lives – free from the devastating effects of cancer.

We now have an exciting opening for a Head of Media, PR & Editorial. The postholder will be responsible for developing and supporting key campaigns and strategies that help to promote and explain the work, impact, health messaging and funding needs to diverse audiences. You will achieve these through PR and media relations, awareness-raising campaign development, supporter stories, celebrity/ambassador management, and the management of a small team, including staff and specialist consultant support.

We are seeking an experienced communications professional with demonstrable expertise and a track-record of success in managing communications for a charity, health or science-related organisation, including developing successful media strategies, with positive press coverage, and writing clear, engaging copy for different audiences across digital and social media channels. The successful candidate will also have proven experience planning and managing multiple cross-departmental projects.

Purpose of the role 

The purpose of this role is to lead our finance and operations functions and support the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to implement management systems to efficiently run the business and achieve strategic objectives agreed by Global Black Thrive Board of Directors.  This includes governance, finance, human resources, IT, legal, health and safety, and facilities management. 

This role is strategic as well as multi-faceted and hands-on and will work collaboratively as part of Global Black Thrive’s Senior Leadership Team to

• Develop robust approaches to finance and operations and provide practical support for Black Thrive teams to manage their programmes and projects; and 

• Support staff to take on delegated responsibility for finance, HR and operations and to develop their skills and knowledge base. 

• Develop a Fundraising Strategy through creating comprehensive fundraising plans tailored to the organisation's needs and goals. 

Duties and responsibilities 

1. Support the CEO to manage the organisation and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including finance, HR, health and safety, data protection, and deadlines for annual returns to Companies House, the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies, and HMRC.
2. Put in place governance and management systems to support the efficient operation of the business, and the achievement of strategic objectives and milestones agreed by the Global Black Thrive Board of Directors. 
3. Support in the development of Black Thrive’s internal Learning and development infrastructure, particularly with the Learning Week.
4. Lead on strategic reviews of organisational policies and procedures and work with the CEO and colleagues to review, update and operationalise policies and procedures.
5. Line manage Finance Officer and lead finance functions, including working with managers to prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring that there are appropriate financial controls and operational arrangements in place (including for outgoing and incoming invoices and grants), liaising with external accounting and payroll providers and training staff as required.
6. Line mange the HR and Admin Manager and support with updating policies, rolling out strategic changes and communicating these companywide.
7. Provide timely and accurate strategic financial management information to enable the Board of Directors, CEO and managers to have effective oversight and make strategic short-term and long-term decisions.
8. Work with others in the organisation and support the Fundraising Strategy. This will also include strategies for creating our own independent funds that are not linked to an external funder.
9. Support the CEO to fulfil their role as Designated Lead Officer for safeguarding, including updating the safeguarding policy, ensuring that it is given effect and maintaining a robust system of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and training for staff, associates, consultants and volunteers.
10. Ensure the provision of effective day-to-day administration of HR functions, including induction, training, learning week organisation and appraisal systems
11. Ensure effective management of premises, facilities, and equipment, including maintenance of an asset register.
12. Stay up to date with trends and best practices in governance, finance and operations relevant to Global Black Thrive’s mission.
13. Work with Global Black Thrive Directors to resolve disputes or disagreements that negatively impact on the achievement of objectives.

Working closely with colleagues across the Philanthropy team you will support the team in the Patrons, Legacy and High-net-worth individual (HNWI) income streams and manage your own portfolio of Legators and HNWIs. You will focus on the administration and stewardship of the Patrons Circle and Legacy programme, account management for your portfolio of donors, data management and supporting the wider team on identifying and approaching new potential donors.

You will work closely with colleagues in the Philanthropy team and wider Development Group across varied income streams whilst also building successful working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the Museum. You will maintain a high level of organisation and excellent communication to build meaningful relationships with donors to the greatest value for the whole Museum.

The role will be line-managed by the Patrons Manager with guidance from the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) and Senior Philanthropy Manager.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Patrons Circle

· Support the Patrons Manager with the administration of the Patrons Circle, including delivery of the events programme, drafting newsletters, event invitations, renewal reminders, thank you letters and welcome packs.

• Support the Patrons Manager to monitor the Patrons inbox for queries and event RSVPs, resolving any requests from Patrons, logging RSVPs or escalating them to the Patrons Manager as appropriate.

· Laise with Membership and Marketing teams to integrate Patron, Member and Visitor communications and benefit delivery.

Legacy and HNWI administration and pipe-line development

• Support the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) with the delivery of Legacy events programme and day to day administration of the Legacy programme, including administering new bequests via Smee and Ford notifications.Steward and cultivate a warm portfolio of 50 Legacy pledgers and lower-level donors by drafting day-to-day communications, marketing emails, writing stewardship reports and sending event invitations.

· Support the wider team by planning and cultivating prospective Legators and lower-level donors under the supervision of the Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) and Patrons Manager.

General

· Ensure that Raisers Edge is updated regularly and in line with the requirements for each event or activity and work closely with key database managers to ensure records are kept up to date.

· Support the Senior Philanthropy Manager and wider Philanthropy team with meeting, visit and event organisation, including, supporting the delivery of events and writing briefings ahead of donor meetings.

· Support the wider Philanthropy team with Raiser’s Edge data- inputting and gift administration, including gift processing, acceptance and due diligence forms.

· Deputise for Patrons Manager and Philanthropy Manager (Legacies & HNWI) on designated accounts in order to handle day-to-day requests and flow of information, arrangements for meetings and thanking.

Role Requirements

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Plumber will use their vast experience, skill, and knowledge from previous roles to deliver exceptional plumbing services to the estate, ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all electrical systems and associated items in compliance with current standards and regulations.

Ensuring requirements of Children, young people, parents, staff and visitors are met at all times the role will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance tasks in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule and also for installation, investigation, diagnosis and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, including, but not limited to heating and hot water systems, hot and cold-water services, air conditioning, air handling and ventilation equipment, drainage and rainwater system and control systems. To add variety to your day, you'll also be assigned other duties through the help desk. These tasks will diversify your workload and ensure your role remains dynamic and engaging.

Provide and receive routine and complex information to inform colleagues and other personnel. Be knowledgeable and conversant with technical issues and communicate and explain those to colleagues.

The role holder will assist in the supervision and monitoring of maintenance work carried out by contracts ensuring at all times their own work and that is contractors is within the statutory guidelines the role will ensure a quality customer service and delivery of outcomes within expected SLAs.

The Senior Multiple Needs Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will work within a dynamic, crisis intervention, advocacy and support service based at the CGL Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The IDVA will provide support in the local community and at the Ealing Women’s Wellness Zone.  The successful candidate will be co-located up to 5 days a week at the Women’s Wellness Zone.

The IDVA will be closely working alongside CGL colleagues/team to deliver support to women with a range of complex support needs including substance misuse, mental health, domestic abuse, sex working, trafficking, and offending behaviour. The IDVA will work in collaboration with their team members to holistically support women in the borough of Ealing to achieve sustained recovery, improved health and wellbeing, helping women to manage/mitigate risks, and empowering them to reach their fullest potential in society as well as ensuring the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process.

The Senior Multiple Needs IDVA will assess the needs and risks of survivors, carry out short and longer-term risk management, safety planning and support. As well as identify and refer to services appropriate to their needs. They will also proactively advocate and advice women of their rights and options for seeking help and support from other agencies, encouraging them to engage with other agencies, and help co-ordinate the provision of multi-agency support where necessary.

About You:

To be successful as the Senior Multiple Needs IDVA you will need to have:

Excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children, of best practice in supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and of the MARAC. As well as understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field.

Bringing your experience of risk and needs assessment, safety and support planning, and crisis planning and successfully managing high numbers of referrals and experience of working in a co-located setting with another agency and providing consultations/briefings to professionals to support in upskilling them around Domestic Abuse. What you’ll be doing (Key Responsibilities):

1. Fundraising Strategy Implementation:

• Support the Director of Strategic Development to develop and refine fundraising and partnership goals and objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Trust Fundraising Manager with proven experience, to maximise income for Whizz Kidz services from Trusts and Foundations through researching new funding opportunities, creating high quality applications with Service staff and stewarding existing warm funders effectively. 

The Role

As Trust Fundraising Manager you will secure new funding opportunities and work on a pool of warm and cold charitable Trusts with a focus on the £10,000 to £40,000 range.  The role involves researching and qualifying prospects, submitting high quality funding applications and stewarding existing donors effectively. It will also involve managing reporting deadlines and matching potential donors to projects needing to be fundraised for, collaborating with our Service Teams. 

You will prepare applications and reports to trusts and foundations, in line with funder deadlines, keeping in touch with donors and prospects via phone, virtually and face to face. You will match potential donors with projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach.

The person

You will have experience of: Securing funding from Trusts with excellent writing and presentation skills; Solid prospect research skills to identify new funding opportunities and maintain a forward pipeline of applications; Of working collaboratively with Service Teams to package and cost project areas; Stewardship of warm funders including preparing donor reports, reviewing financial reports and gathering case studies. You will also have strong time management skills with ability to manage and prioritise your workload and ideally experience of using a CRM for Trust Fundraising.

Duchenne UK is an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this.

• Aligned to the organisational strategy, designing and delivering Duchenne UK’s income generation strategy, establishing a delivery plan to hit targets across a diverse range of income streams, including community fundraising, events, trusts and foundations, major donors, research and development grants and commercial income.
• Oversee the process and systems of managing funders and new business opportunities, including overseeing the charity’s CRM system (Salesforce) to support a high end and holistic approach to the account management of funders and stakeholders.

This role will play a key role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to develop and advocate for the policy changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK. It will focus on developing Trussell policy positions in either employment support (especially for people with barriers to work) or disability and sickness benefits. The role will also lead the development and implementation of influencing plans in that policy area.

Role responsibilities

·Lead the development of policy solutions and positions

Leading the development of credible policy positions and implementable recommendations in the specified policy area - either in relation to employment support and conditionality, particularly for groups facing significant barriers to work including disabled people and single parents; or in relation to the disability benefit system, particularly Personal Independence Payments and the Work Capability Assessment.

Working with the Policy and Public Affairs, Network Operations and Participation teams to ensure our policy influencing has a robust evidence base.

Where appropriate, developing policy in collaboration with food banks in Trussell’s network and lived experience partners. Building on success of existing participatory work to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty. This includes ensuring an ethical approach to policy development in line with our values.

Working effectively with other expert partners to strengthen policy development and build alliances to support influencing, including project management and oversight of joint policy development and positions.

·Planning and delivering impactful policy activity

Leading the development of an influencing strategy for the policy area aligned to a theory of change. Ensuring policy outputs are timely, high-quality and support engagement with key audiences, including national and local governments across the UK. Co-ordinating responses to reactive work in areas, including policy consultations, activity in Parliament, in the media or in response to network requests.

·Developing policy narratives and key messages

Co-ordinating the development of the narrative and key messaging in the areas, maintaining a key message bank, with tailored lines for target audiences as needed.

·Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy positions to external stakeholders

Working proactively with Research, Public Engagement and Network Operations teams to identify opportunities to promote the organisation’s policy positions and recommendations to key audiences. This could include presenting at policy and campaign events, workshops with food banks and media interviews.

·Building and managing strong relationships with key external stakeholders

Developing relationships, partnerships and networks to help raise the profile, credibility and influence of the Trussell Trust and our policy positions in the specified policy area, including with relevant policy makers, politicians, civil servants, sector partners and church-related organisations working in key policy areas.

Person Specification

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Track record of successfully developing policy solutions, including credible and implementable proposals in either the area of either employment support or disability and sickness benefits.

· Track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government.

· Track record of delivering strategic policy influencing activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.

· Demonstrates a detailed understanding of policies in relation to either employment support or disability benefits and the impact on UK poverty and hunger. Can explain policy motivations of main political parties and can advise on how to influence them most effectively on either area.

· Demonstrates an understanding of effective policy development and influencing, including knowledge of the machinery and structure of government (UK, devolved, local) and experience of informing campaigns activity to mobilise support for policy change.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in demonstrating enthusiasm and experience when communicating complex topics to non-specialist audiences.

Head of Health Information

Salary: £75,000-£85,000pa depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Health Information to join us to provide strategic oversight and management of Cancer Research UK's (CRUK) health information to the public, covering cancer prevention, screening and diagnosis. The team is one of a number at CRUK that reviews and synthesises evidence, differing in terms of their audience focus and/or topic focus. The successful candidate will need to work closely with their peers to ensure that CRUK has the maximum impact across all their audiences to improve cancer outcomes.

About the team

The Health Information team work to inform and engage the public with information on cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening. We do this using evidence and look for opportunities to reach those who need it most. We use our knowledge and communications expertise to guide and shape activity across the charity including policy, partnerships and fundraising.

What will I be doing?

• Oversee the provision of high quality, accessible and evidence-based health information including maintaining a good understanding of best practice

• Provide strategic direction for CRUK's health information priority topics to maximise impact across public facing channels including but not limited to health marketing, communications and partnerships

• Act as a senior subject matter expert on health information and use of evidence, advising senior internal and external stakeholders (Executive Board, other charities, researchers)

• Act as a senior media spokesperson and provide expert sign-off for health information content used in a range of external channels (including press and policy influencing)

• Provide functional leadership to the health information team, ensuring that their time is prioritised effectively to focus on the areas of greatest impact - including balancing proactive workload and support for other teams.

• Responsible for managing the team budgets to ensure activity and services are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

• Build effective relationships with other evidence teams and policy to minimise duplication of effort, ensure consistency of messaging, and maximise our impact on a range of topics in support of CRUK and PIC's wider influencing and engagement strategy

What skills are we looking for?

• Excellent judgement of sound research methods, ability to critically appraise qualitative and quantitative evidence and research

• Experience in translation of evidence into targeted, relevant and accessible public information

• A good understanding of either cancer prevention or early detection with the ability to develop expertise in both of these areas

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team, and prioritise workload in a complex matrix environment

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to sign off health information positions and represent this internally and externally

• Experience of setting strategies and overall team direction that align with department and organisation objectives

• Ability to balance risks and opportunities and advise peers and senior stakeholders appropriately in decision making.

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build consensus and instil confidence and credibility of advice and decision making with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to constructively challenge and push back, whilst maintaining good working relationships

• Proven understanding of digital technologies used in content and marketing and the ability to keep abreast of the digital landscape, innovation and application of new initiatives, tools and techniques

• Experience of setting and managing budgets.
