Job description

ART AGAINST KNIVES is looking for a passionate Senior Youth Worker & Project Producer to join our amazing team, making it possible for young people to create their own hopeful futures, free from violence, abuse and harm.

This post has a dual focus; you will be responsible for co-producing high quality music projects for young people aged 11-25 and directly supporting them to thrive. You will be exceptional at building trusted relationships with young people and in working alongside them to create high quality provision - ‘making ideas happen’ should be your superpower. You must be tuned into the needs and interests of socially excluded young people and committed to anti-oppressive behaviours and practice as part of your active solidarity with marginalised, minoritised and racialised people.

ABOUT ART AGAINST KNIVES

For the past 15 years, ART AGAINST KNIVES has been working to address the root cause of violence in partnership with young people and their communities.

Together we’ve designed safe, creative spaces that make it possible for them to build their own hopeful futures. In these spaces our team of creative, highly skilled professionals bring creative skills training, mentoring and specialist support to them, at a pace and in a space that works for them.

We focus on supporting socially excluded young people who are most at risk of violence, abuse and exploitation, ensuring we’re responding to their unique needs and putting them in the lead. In tandem with our direct support, we make it possible for them to imagine the change they want to see, ensuring their voices are heard within the systems around them and pushing for change.

We’ve established ourselves as one of London’s pioneering youth organisations, making it possible for thousands of young people to design their own hopeful futures, re-design local services and influence national systems change.

ABOUT THE ROLE

HOURS: Full-time (35 hrs per week, Mon-Fri) is available. Other more flexible arrangements would be considered.

SALARY: £32,654-£36,124pa + £500 training budget

START DATE: This post is available from May 2025

CONTRACT TYPE: 24 months fixed term with a view to extending, however this is funding dependent.

You will be based from our flagship space in East Finchley but may also be required to travel across the borough of Barnet. Whilst we try to keep things consistent, we require everyone to work flexibly as required to ensure adequate staff ratios across our provision.

Due to our existing commitments to young people, at a minimum this post-holder must be available to work in-person Mon-Thursday and until 7pm on a Wednesday and Thursday.

FULL DETAILS AND HOW TO APPLY

You can read the full Recruitment Pack, which outlines the key responsibilities of the role, person specification and instructions on how to apply by following the link to our website. There is an online application form for this role.

We support young people and their communities who are most at risk of violence, abuse and exploitation, which disproportionately impacts upon racialised people and those whose identities are marginalised. Therefore we specifically welcome applicants who share these experiences, hold a deep understanding of and stand in solidarity with marginalised, minoritised and racialised people.

We can only consider candidates who have the right to work in the UK and you must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.

Deadline for applications is 12pm midday, on Mon 21 Apr 2025. We look forward to receiving your application.
