Deputy Chief Executive 

Salary: £49,045 to £60,274 
Location: Hybrid with an assumption of work from Dunelm House, DH13AN as necessary 
Contract: Permanent 35 hours a week full time

About the role: 

The Deputy Chief Executive role is a brand new role created through some of the recent changes to their leadership team. The role holder will work across the Union to advance the students’ union’s mission to be the champion of students at the University, leading student-facing services including independent advice, support for student-led sports clubs, societies and interest groups, and democratic services.

Their new Deputy Chief Executive will be responsible for the performance, development and sustainability of the professional staff team and volunteers. They will lead effective and efficient services, and both model and inspire behaviours consistent to their values. This role will also provide advice and make recommendations to student leaders, the Chief Executive and the Trustee Board on policy development within their area of responsibility, support the Chief Executive with policy and strategy development, and create and maintain productive relationships with their Students’ Union partners across the University, the North East of England, and the voluntary and students’ union sectors.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre seeks a highly skilled and motivated Development Officer with a strong background in grant writing. The ideal candidate will have exceptional English language communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proven track record in supporting teams to secure funding for mission-driven organisations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in helping our organisation grow by crafting compelling donor communication (including reports and applications), identifying new funding opportunities from across the European private funding community, and building relationships internally and externally.

Reports to: Deputy Director/Director of Development   

Salary:  GBP 34,000 – 37,000, commensurate with experience and adjusted according to location (the range is aligned to London cost of living; if based in another location, the range will be adjusted accordingly)

About the position   

This position is ideal for an experienced grant writer who is interested in being a member of our growing and dynamic Development Team (4.5 FTE) that raises about £5 million annually to support the Resource Centre’s work with partners and allies across the world. You will work closely with an experienced team of fundraising and MEAL specialists, based on five continents, to ensure the highest quality products for our private and public funder audiences (foundations, multilateral and government agencies, and individuals in all regions.) The successful candidate will also work with Global Team members to support efforts to grow our funding base from private foundations across Europe. 
   

Key Responsibilities   

WRITING

• Build strong working relationships with teams across the organisation to gather information and collaboratively shape donor materials, including but not limited to: Executive Director’s updates, letters of inquiry, case for support, formal applications, funding reports, individual appeals, and Annual Impact Report.
• Develop, edit, and submit high-quality written and digital applications that clearly articulate BHRRC's mission, vision and impact (and/or that of BHRRC’s specific priority programmes) to foundations, and relevant government agencies, building a compelling case for funders to support BHRRC. 
• Demonstrate appetite for learning BHRRC’s core advocacy objectives and approaches, and their evolution, in order to be able to contribute substantively to proposal development.
• Lead the generation of funding reports, in partnership with Development Team members and international and regional programme teams, to ensure funder requirements are met.
• Use our CRM database (Salesforce) to manage calendar for grant submissions, renewals, and reporting to ensure Development Team is on track and deadlines are met.
• Track and report on the success of funding applications, providing regular updates to the Senior Management Team. 

RESEARCH & FUNDRAISING 

• Research, identify, and evaluate new funding opportunities throughout the EU  and analyse funding requirements, eligibility, and fit with BHRRC’s mission and strategic goals. Present recommendations for approaching strong prospects to the Senior Management Team. 
• Maintain a comprehensive database of European funding prospects/opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Deputy Director/Director of Development and the Europe Development Manager to design and implement a strategic fundraising plan for the EU, focused on expanding institutional support for BHRRC.
• Build and maintain relationships with select EU funders, ensuring proper stewardship and communication.
• Monitor trends in European philanthropy that may influence BHRRC’s approach to institutional fundraising, and keep informed of emerging opportunities. 

ORGANISATIONAL

• Work with Development and Communications Teams to ensure all organisational documents used for fundraising are updated. Suggest and create new materials.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a shared system of information management for programmes and organisational data used in funding reports.
• Participate in the development of BHRRC’s fundraising strategies, and organisational policies and guidelines related to fundraising.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through a collaborative goal-setting process, which provides opportunities for both reflection and forward planning. 

Essential skills and experience   

• 3+ years of foundation/government fundraising experience, with an emphasis on grant writing.
• Exceptional writing skills and demonstrated ability to develop original proposals, reports, and other donor correspondence. Strong ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.
• Able to work efficiently and methodically to support achievement of deliverables; strong prioritization skills; self-motivated and organised; and comfortable working independently within agreed framework while maintaining communication with a global team in different time zones and geographies.
• Experience collaborating with culturally diverse teams with the ability to effectively lead and manage projects as well as harness team creativity.
• Strong research skills, with the ability to identify appropriate grant sources.
• Highly-developed project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks as needed based on deadlines and workflow.
• The ability to grasp, analyse, summarise, and present complex information coherently to external audiences is required.
• Experience thinking critically about impact is required. 
• Strong commitment to human rights, and to the mission and values of the Resource Centre. An understanding of business and human rights issues in a global context is a plus.
• Proficiency using Office 365 (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint).  Familiarity with fundraising software or CRM tools.
• Bachelor’s Degree

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Purpose

The Head of Philanthropy, reporting to the Director of Fundraising, is responsible for leading and growing CAP's major donor income, cultivating and stewarding high-value relationships, and building and mentoring a high-performing Philanthropy Team. This includes overseeing the work of the team (including Trusts and Foundations) and playing a crucial role in achieving ambitious fundraising targets and ensuring CAP's long-term financial sustainability.

Our philanthropic fundraising is moving into a new era in Christians Against Poverty.  We have recently launched our new strategy and within it state the need to have a more diverse fundraising strategy that draws income from a range of types of sources. A particular area that is highlighted is the need to develop our work in the area of major donors "transitioning to a dedicated team of managing our donor relationships on a day-to-day basis." We have recently been developing our CRM (salesforce), upskilling staff and developing our case for support in order to have a robust foundation on which to build our philanthropy strategy. We are looking for an experienced and charismatic practitioner-leader who will not only lead the team but will role model best practice in philanthropy acquisition and relationship management.

Role

Accountabilities:

Strategic Planning & Fundraising

• Lead the development and implementation of a strategic plan to significantly increase major donor income, with a target of 17.5% of overall revenue within 3 years.

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for major donor income, aligned with CAP's overall strategic priorities.

• Ensure the execution of market research and competitor analysis to identify new funding opportunities and best practice in Philanthropic fundraising.

• Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including the CEO, senior leadership, and other departments.

• Represent CAP at high-level events and conferences to build relationships with potential donors and partners.

Major Donor Development

• Develop and manage a designated caseload of high-net-worth individuals, cultivating deep and meaningful relationships.

• Conduct face-to-face meetings, personalised communications, and bespoke stewardship plans to cultivate and steward major donors.

• Develop compelling restricted funding projects to attract major donor investment.

• Develop and implement a donor recognition program to acknowledge and celebrate major donor support.

Philanthropy Team Leadership

• A member of the Senior Leadership Team of our Mission Directorate.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Philanthropy Team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

• Work with the Director of Fundraising to set ambitious targets and KPIs for the team, ensuring they are aligned with overall fundraising goals.

• Oversee our Trusts and Foundations work, ensuring timely submission of funding applications and effective stewardship of grant relationships.

• Develop and implement robust systems and processes for donor relationship management, data analysis, and performance tracking.

Impact & Reporting

• Develop compelling narratives and impact reports that effectively communicate the impact of major donor support.

• Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of fundraising efforts and identify areas for improvement.

• Provide regular updates on fundraising progress and proposals to strengthen our approach to the Director of Fundraising, Chief Mission Officer and senior leadership.

Innovation & Best Practices

• Stay abreast of current trends and best practices in major donor fundraising.

• Explore and implement innovative fundraising strategies, such as engaging new philanthropists, digital engagement, corporate engagement and high-impact events.

• Evaluate philanthropy campaigns with the Fundraising Insight & Innovation team to develop a deeper understanding of supporters and identify new prospects, making data-informed decisions.

• Champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Philanthropy Team.

• Create opportunities for supporters to engage at a senior level and deepen their relationship with CAP, working with the CEO and other senior staff.

Communications & Campaign Management:

• Ensure that philanthropy initiatives are well-planned, producing excellent bids, proposals, events, and reports, delivered on time and within budget.

• Coordinate with the Brand and Digital Engagement teams to align messaging and campaigns.

• Ensure philanthropy plans align with brand guidelines and fundraising regulations.

Youth Futures Foundation is the national What Works Centre for youth employment, with a specific focus on marginalised young people.   

We find and generate high-quality evidence to better understand England’s’ youth unemployment and inactivity challenge, and most importantly to learn what solutions work to address this. We do this through bringing together the best evidence already in existence and build on this by conducting original research and testing and evaluating promising interventions to produce much needed new evidence where there are gaps.  

We are looking for a dynamic Research Officer to support the creation and collation of research and evidence that has a transformative effect on the youth employment ecosystem.

You will work with the Research Managers and other members of the Impact and Evidence team to:

• support the design, delivery and management of commissioned and in-house research projects striving to understand the complex, systemic issues faced by marginalised young people in their employment journey, as well as potential solutions.
• This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people on research projects. A part of the role will also be working with other teams, such as policy and communications, to translate complex research and evaluation findings into accessible, user-centred outputs and briefings for internal and external use.

The Role

The Diocese of Oxford is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Children and Youth Ministry to lead and oversee the implementation of our children and youth programme across the diocese. We are seeking an exceptional leader in research and evaluation to drive ImpactEd Group’s research strategy. Reporting to the Group Directors and Board, the Research Director will lead, design and represent high-quality research and evaluation outputs across ImpactEd Group, in support of our practices.

The Research Director will be responsible for overseeing research quality, outputs and methods across the Group. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong track record in research leadership, evaluation, and research partnerships. Working across our practices, the Research Director will design methodologies for Targeted Research and Action Projects, support complex research partnerships and quality assurance.   What the job involves
Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a programme of owned products, activities and events, in addition to third-party challenges. Alongside our two owned events, March for Men and the Grand Depart Classic, we also recruit teams in events such as the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

In this role, you’ll project manage a number of third-party events which take place across the UK, including our teams at the Brighton Marathon, Edinburgh Marathon Festival and Great North Run. You’ll also be tasked with identifying new opportunities across the UK in the charity events market.

This role will cover all aspects from setting budgets, creating a marketing plan, building the supporter communications, organising event logistics, delivering event weekend support, followed by remittance and thanking to ensure we maximise the funds raised from these events. Alongside this, you’ll work with other teams within Prostate Cancer UK to support the full calendar of events and take the lead with supporting our volunteers at our events.

Working with our Communications teams, you’ll ensure that we make the most of every opportunity, from promoting the events to warm and new audiences, identifying and building relationships with the strongest case studies, to ensuring a high proportion of event participants continue to support us after completing their event.

About the Role
