An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our Education Team. This role will require the successful candidate to support an integrated and holistic approach to education, health and care, work under the direct supervision of an allocated teacher / senior  specialist teaching assistant, support access to learning and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils in learning opportunities and to assist the teacher in providing relevant support for pupils with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex therapeutic, medical and health needs.

You will be a natural and enthusiastic leader able to provide challenge and support to a high performing team.

Role Requirements

STL1 – Provide support for Learning Activities set by Classteacher & Senior Specialist Teaching Assistant

• To support learning activities for individual, groups or whole classes of pupils, leading activities under the direction of the teacher or Senior Teaching Assistant supporting the teacher in their delivery of lessons.
• To demonstrate our School Ethos and Pupil Charter throughout the School day.
• Holistically integrate education, health and care needs.
• Evaluate and record procedures for learning activities.
• To know individual learning targets for each pupil in the group(s) and take specific action to enable individual pupil goals be achieved.
• To attend to the general care, maintenance and storage of classroom equipment.

STL 2 – Support Children’s Development

• Observe pupils, sharing observational findings, contribute to the implementation of activities to support development.
• Actively contribute towards record-keeping particularly in respect of pupil learning, therapeutic interventions, behaviour management, child protection and any other specific programme set up for individual pupils by the teacher / Senior Specialist Teaching Assistant / Therapist.

STL 3 – Help to keep Children Safe

• Undertake annual safeguarding training.
• Adhere to the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection procedures and policies. Recording incidents pertaining to pupil safety, including for illness, accidents and incidents, accepting that Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and that ‘it could happen here’.
• Read relevant documentation / mandatory reads in relation to Keeping Children Safe In Education.
• Report any signs and indicators of possible abuse, being sensitive to the child/young person and circumstances, Identifying, report and record changes in behaviour and physical signs.
• Be aware of and follow plans, risk assessments and record keeping pertaining to individual pupils, including care plans, health care plans, feeding plans, moving and handling and behaviour management plans, actively engaging in relevant training and competencies offered to ensure that you are able to support in keeping all pupils in the class safe.
• Ensure safe transport for all pupils in the class for off site visits.

STL 4 – Contribute to Positive Relationships

• Interact with and respond positively and professionally, to pupils and adults, including colleagues, other professionals and parents/ carers at all times.
• Work collaboratively as part of a class and wider School and organisational team.
• Actively support change where it is required to improve the teaching, learning and meeting of our pupils needs.

STL 5 – Provide Effective Support for your Colleagues

• Work effectively as a team member, being aware of and providing support to colleagues when needed.
• Embrace training and competencies to ensure that all staff in a class team are able to support each other.
• Complete all ‘Universal level training’.

STL 6 / STL 39 – Support Literacy and Numeracy Activities, Communication and Interaction Needs

• Support the delivery of appropriate communication, language and literacy as well as the learning targets related to cognition to individuals, small groups and whole classes of pupils, providing accurate support and feedback to the teacher and pupils.

STL 7 / STL 8 – Support and use Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Teaching and Learning

• Prepare commonly used ICT for use in lessons and be aware of and be able to use hardware and software commonly used in the school.
• Be aware of individual pupil’s specific needs as assessed by teachers and therapists and apply relevant recommendations.
• Support the delivery of lessons including ICT to individuals, small groups and whole classes of pupils.

STL 9 – Observe and Report of Pupil Performance

• Against intended learning targets be able to observe and complete assessments with teaching support.
• Support the classteacher in providing evidence (observational notes, photographs, videos) presenting in the appropriate format to assist the evaluation of evidence relating to the pupils’ stage of development.
• Be able to clearly explain and answer questions / justify your evidence of pupil performance to the teacher.
• Observe school policies and procedures for confidentiality of information about pupils.

STL 10 – Support Children’s Play and Learning

• To promote and support age-appropriate play for pupils.
• To supervise and actively encourage play and leisure activities during playtimes taking an active role in the organisation of play, leisure and recreational activities.

STL 11 – Contribute to supporting Bilingual / Multilingual Pupils

• When applicable be aware of the first language of pupils and their parents.

STL 12 / STL 38 – Support a Child with Disabilities or Special Educational Needs and Their Families

• Be confident in each of the pupils needs in the classroom and the relevant strategies that are required to support them.
• See the pupil as a ‘whole’ and integrate their education, health and care needs throughout their day.
• Support pupils with communication and interaction, cognition and learning, behaviour, emotional and social development needs and pupils sensory and/or physical needs.

STL 13 – Contribute to Moving and Handling Individuals

• Follow agreed Moving and Handling plans as prescribed by therapists undertaking relevant training and competencies prior to do any of the below:
• Carry out moves and changes of position taking account of the individual’s needs, preferences and their advice on the most appropriate methods and equipment.
• Use moving and handling methods appropriate to the individual’s condition, your personal handling limits and the equipment available.
• Move and change individual’s positions in ways which minimise pain, discomfort and friction and maximise the individual’s independence, self-respect and dignity.
• Observe, record and immediately report any significant changes in the individual’s condition when you are moving them.
• Record details of methods of moving and handling which the individual finds acceptable according to legal and organisational requirements.
• Undertake therapeutic programmes that have been developed by physio and occupational therapists.

STL 14 – Support Individuals during Therapy Sessions

• Receive relevant training from therapists and then implement training and competencies throughout the pupils’ day.
• Be able to articulate the purpose of programmes and ensure their delivery in an integrated way.
• Work with individuals to identify the effectiveness of the therapy sessions on their health and social well-being.
• Check observations with appropriate people and against agreed outcomes.
• Identify any issues or problems in relation to the therapy sessions and work with individuals, key people and others to identify and agree changes to the therapy sessions.
• Record and report on therapy sessions within confidentiality agreements and according to legal and organisational requirements.

STL 16 – Provide Displays

• To produce and maintain displays in accordance with the school’s Display Policy.
• To ensure that Information Governance and Confidentiality is applied to any information that you are privy to.

STL 19 / STL 37 / STL 41 – Promote Positive Behaviour

• Highlight and praise positive aspects of pupils’ behaviour appropriate to the individual.
• Recognise patterns and triggers which may lead to inappropriate behavioural responses and take appropriate action to pre-empt problems.
• Encourage the team to support pupils consistently and regularly review their own behaviours to model intended outcomes.
• Provide feedback to relevant people on progress made by any pupils with a behaviour support plan in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy.
• Implement individual pupil behaviour management programmes if required.

STL 31 – Prepare and Maintain the Learning Environment

• Prepare the learning environment to meet the needs of individual pupils.
• Support the teacher in the preparation of resources needed for lessons by gathering and appropriately positioning them for access.
• To ensure that pupils are in the right place at the right time in the right clothing with the appropriate equipment in the correct position.

STL 40 – Support Pupils with Cognition and Learning Needs

• Implement agreed strategies to support pupils with cognition and learning difficulties to learn.
• Sequence and structure learning environment and experiences ensuring adequate time.
• Consistently apply visual, auditory, object and tactile cues.
• Provide an appropriate level of assistance to enable the pupil to experience a sense of achievement, maintain self-esteem and self-confidence and encourage self-help skills.
• Listen carefully to the pupil and positively encourage him/her to communicate his/her needs and ideas.

STL 42 – Support Pupils with Sensory and/or Physical Needs

• Obtain accurate and up-to-date information about: a the nature and level of the pupil’s sensory and/or physical needs and apply to the pupil’s learning needs, planned learning tasks and activities.
• With support adapt the layout of the learning environment and the equipment used to enable the pupil with sensory and/or physical needs to access and maximise learning opportunities.
• Encourage the pupil to actively participate in learning tasks and activities consistent with his/her developmental level, physical abilities and any medical conditions.
• Ensure that any specialist equipment is used appropriately to maintain the pupil’s comfort and maximise his/her participation in learning tasks and activities.
• Give appropriate assistance to enable the pupil to experience a sense of achievement and encourage independence.
• Positively reinforce the pupil’s efforts to participate in learning tasks and activities.

STL 43 – Assist in the Administration of Medication

• Apply standard precautions for infection control and other relevant health and safety measures.
• Report any discrepancies or omissions you might find to the person in control of the administration and to relevant staff as appropriate.
• Be aware of School procedures.
• Contribute to administering and record keeping of medication to individuals in the appropriate manner, using the correct techniques according to the care plan if signed off as competent in doing so.
• Ensure the security of medications throughout the process and ensure all medication is stored in the correct safe place when administration is complete.

STL 4 – Meet their Personal Support Needs

• Attend to pupils’ personal care needs as and when necessary ensuring care and dignity at all times.
• Assist with the organisation of refreshments and mealtimes, feeding individual pupils where necessary including feeding by gastric tube after receiving the necessary training.
• Support pupils in the water and assist with swimming and or hydrotherapy programmes.

PDR – Take part in School Staff Development Procedures

• Take part in a performance management programme and work towards specific pupil progress and professional development targets.
• Take part in a staff induction programme, and pursue other training opportunities as agreed with the line manager.
• Take part in staff development days, class team meetings, departmental meetings, whole staff meetings and other occasional meetings held in usual working hours.
• To support students and volunteers who work within the classroom from time to time.

Job Purpose

As the Head of Fundraising, your primary responsibility is to lead the strategic direction and execution of Village Water’s fundraising efforts, with a focus on diversifying income streams and maximising revenue generation. You will oversee all fundraising activities, particularly in Trusts and Foundations (both UK and International), corporate partnerships, High Value Donors, and statutory bodies. Your role involves crafting compelling funding applications and reports, creating an ambitious fundraising strategy, applying for and securing large multi-year grants from new and existing donors, ensuring exemplary donor stewardship, and fostering collaboration across teams to achieve fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a specific emphasis on Trusts and Foundations & corporate fundraising, to ensure a steady pipeline of funding opportunities. Coordinate with team members to meet fundraising targets effectively and manage donation pipelines working with CEO and Finance manager to ensure the pipeline matches the cashflow.

• Directly oversee and support your team members, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching to ensure both individual and team objectives are achieved. (currently the team is 3)

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors, including Trusts, Foundations, Corporates and Statutory bodies, through proactive engagement and personalized stewardship.

• Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop persuasive proposals and impactful reports that effectively communicate Village Water’s mission and achievements.

• Plan and implement annual fundraising campaigns.

• Work closely with monitoring and finance teams to accurately assess impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to donors.

• Maintain accurate donor records and ensure compliance with data protection regulations within Village Water’s database.

General

• Foster a collaborative work environment by engaging with staff, volunteers, suppliers, and local partners.

• Actively participate in networking events to expand Village Water’s connections and fundraising opportunities.

• Provide regular updates at team meetings and Trustee meetings as required.

• Strong donor stewardship skills, with the ability to cultivate and maintain successful relationships.

• Excellent communication skills, capable of crafting compelling cases for support and presenting Village Water’s work effectively.

• Proficiency in financial management and budget analysis.

• Familiarity with relevant software and databases, including Microsoft Office 365 and Salesforce or similar.

This brand new role will be responsible for both Events and Corporate Partnership fundraising, with the initial, primary focus being on developing and delivering an events programme. Corporate fundraising responsibilities will include managing a portfolio of existing partnerships and where there are opportunities, developing new corporate relationships. This is an incredibly exciting role for the right candidate as you will be able to help shape the direction of the role for the charity.

Events is a relatively new area for the charity and we anticipate the events programme will, in the main, support our corporate partners and provide a varied package of engagement opportunities for our growing base of employee volunteers. These, and other events, will help raise vital funds as well as networking and new business development opportunities.

We’re looking for someone who has experience of a similar role/s. You will have great people skills and experience of building and maintaining strong relationships. You will be enthusiastic, driven and creative with a can-do attitude and have exceptional planning and organisational skills. This role will have periods of high intensity.

As we all work remotely, you will also need to be a self-starter and be able to work independently. We would expect a thorough understanding and commitment to LTSB’s vision, mission, and work.

Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

Job Description

This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community.  A core part of this will be building relationships with key supporters, including our incredible Family and Friends Funds, corporate supporters and community of fundraisers.

You will be central to the development and delivery of key events and campaigns throughout the year to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. You will have budget management responsibilities and provide insight into activities to drive improvements and further success in future years.

The role will contribute to overall fundraising growth; ensuring the guiding engagement and fundraising principles are delivered, and that all fundraising delivers an exceptional and remarkable donor experience to which Duchenne UK prides itself.

  • Key relationship manager for Duchenne UK Family and Friends Funds, engaging them through fundraising, supporting third party events and providing regular project and charity updates

Richmond AID has successfully delivered the BuddyUp project in Richmond and Kingston for more than 10 years. We have established referral routes into the project and good links for attracting volunteers. This role is to work supporting young people in the borough of Kingston and you will work closely with our Richmond BuddyUp Coordinator.

BuddyUp Coordinator is a fun and exciting role at Richmond AID which requires someone who is motivated, creative and can work from their own initiative. The Buddy Up Coordinator will match disabled young people aged 14 to 17 to a volunteer buddy who will support them to access services and leisure opportunities. This post will be based in our offices in Teddington and will predominantly cover the borough of Richmond though at times you may also provide support in the borough of Kingston.

Your role is to recruit and train the volunteers, and then match them with a young person, providing ongoing support to young people and volunteers. You will work closely with our Kingston Buddy Coordinator running joint monthly group activities. So far trips have included bowling, cinema, crazy golf, shopping, days out in London, laser tag, boat trips, etc.

About you

You will be organised, and ideally have experience of running a project and experience of working with disabled people and/or young people. Training can be provided. You will have excellent communication and IT skills, administrative skills and be fully competent on Microsoft applications. The Social Media Manager is an integral role within the Marketing team at CoppaFeel! and will play an essential part in supporting our 3-year organisational growth strategy. The Social Media Manager needs to be social obsessed with a keen eye for new and emerging trends that will ensure CoppaFeel!’s social channels organically reach our 18 - 24 year old target audience.

Purpose of the Post/Responsibilities

This is a full-time position reporting directly into the CEO/CFO with an expectation of being on site in the award-winning Caudwell International Children’s Centre in Staffordshire a minimum of 3 days a week, depending on meetings and events.  We are seeking an inspirational leader with the ability to identify opportunities and grow diverse income lines to support the Charity’s expanding service delivery.

Responsible for the strategic management and development of the Charity’s income generation, this role will play a pivotal part in taking the Charity to the next level and helping to change the lives of disabled children across the UK and beyond.

The successful candidate will oversee the main public-facing fundraising activity for the Charity, providing strategic leadership and tactical supervision to a growing team of Fundraisers.

You will be expected to develop a robust and diverse fundraising portfolio across several designated income strands to generate increasing levels of fundraising income year-on-year.

It has been recognised that the Charity currently has minimal market share in most standard charity income lines and this role will be fundamental in developing the required infrastructure, resource and ‘products’ to begin growing market share over the medium to long term.

A primary responsibility of the role will be to assess, develop and implement a new donor management system; ensuring new and existing supporters have a clear communication and cultivation journey with assigned fundraisers adopting relationship responsibilities throughout.

The required standard levels of customer service and donor management for all supporter relations across the Charity will be established and promoted to ensure the required levels of consistency.

This growth will occur while maintaining and strengthening the established income lines which already exist, such as Events and Challenges.

Events are a part of Caudwell Children’s DNA and the single largest income generator in the Charity’s Fundraising Department, therefore there will be a specific focus on maintaining and developing this important department.

The role will initially be responsible for developing two designated teams of fundraising colleagues:

• Individual Giving (Team size: 3)

As Philanthropy Manager, you will be a key player in securing philanthropic gifts for paediatric medical research as the charity makes it largest ever investment into child health research, as well as other areas of GOSH Charity’s work, including our largest appeal to date for the new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH. 

The salary for this position is £37,387 per annum. 

About You  
 
We’re looking for an experienced and creative relationship manager with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail. You are a proactive individual, with experience in shaping fundraising initiatives or similar projects effectively in partnership with key stakeholders. You are a positive team player with a professional, solution focused approach. 

You’ll have:

- Proven experience of philanthropy fundraising or an equivalent field with a track record of initiating new high-value relationships and managing long-term donor/client relationships.  
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written skills with great attention to detail, and an ability to digest complex programmes of research, flexing your style according to the audience. 
- Experience and/or understanding of philanthropy within the healthcare and/or a medical research setting.  
- Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise multiple tasks, work under pressure and within tight deadlines. 

About the Team  
 
The Philanthropy Manager sits within the Philanthropy team – part of the Relationship Fundraising division within the wider Fundraising Directorate. The team focuses on securing gifts from high net-worth individuals and charitable foundations and manages a substantial high value programme. The Philanthropy Manager will sit within a sub-team of three fundraisers – a Philanthropy Executive, a Philanthropy Manager, with both being managed by a Senior Philanthropy Manager.

We are a small organization with a culture of ‘can do’ and everyone mucking in. We currently do not have a fundraising team but anticipate the Head of Fundraising will build such a team on the back of increased income generation. 

Your role:  In this role, the fundraiser will use expert communication skills and a keen sense of initiative to identify fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns. By coordinating events, writing proposals, and recruiting and leading volunteers, the fundraiser will hone speaking, writing, and leadership abilities while moving the Commonwork Trust closer to its financial goals.

The ideal candidate will be motivated, professional, and organised with a strong track record of successful fundraising. We’re looking for someone who believes in the mission of the Commonwork Trust and has exceptional drive for furthering our fundraising efforts as well as strategising and delivering on new ones. 

We would love to hear from you if you have: 

• Fundraising experience – you will have at least three years of experience at developing a fundraising strategy and understanding how different income streams operate with a strong track record in securing income 

• Demonstrable experience in securing funding – you will have experience in identifying key voluntary income streams and securing funding support from trusts and foundations, and be comfortable with ‘making the ask’ of wealthy individuals 

• Grant funding – you will have a strong track record of identifying, securing and monitoring grant funding. 

• Communication skills – you will have excellent communication and relationship-building skills 

• Leadership skills – you will have experience in leading and motivating colleagues and volunteers 

• Charity experience – you will have worked in the charitable sector, preferably with a focus on environmental issues and have an understanding of how a mission-based organisation operates and the wider sector considerations that a charity operates within 

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)

• Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising would be a bonus

Main Purpose of Job

 The Head of Finance is responsible for leading the Finance Department of a rapidly growing Charity with exciting innovative expansion plans to drive income in excess of the current £4m and social impact value above £70m, whilst managing expenditure in line with budget and maintaining reserves to agreed Board target.

Reporting into the CEO you will collaborate and provide input into the financial strategy to support the organisation’s mission. You will direct the finance team in the operational functions of the department and provide continuous improvement in processes to align with the ambitious growth of the organisation.

About You

You will be a qualified accountant be and experienced in leading a Finance team. You will have excellent business acumen and commercial awareness gained in similar size organisations or larger. 

You will be an Excellent team player with ability to quickly build trust and confidence both internally and externally. You will have strong analytical skills with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant Financial, Budgeting, Forecasting experience

Key responsibilities:

• Lead, Mentor and Develop the Finance Team.
• Deliver the following reporting in a timely and efficient manner:
  • Accurate monthly Financial Management accounts including, succinct, informative and action led commentary.
  • Overall management of Trust expenditure in line with tight Budgets and Forecasts, providing variance analysis and commentary based on regular review meetings with Budget Owners.
  • Production of Annual Budget (plus half yearly reforecast) including a Summary Income and Expenditure statement supported by detailed assumptions highlighting surplus/deficit on a project by project basis.
  • Alongside budget, production of Cashflow forecast, Capital Expenditure budget and forecast reserves cover.
  • Provide easy to understand, engaging and succinct Quarterly Financial reports and present to the Quarterly Finance Subcommittee and Board meetings focusing on KPI’s including, commentary on key metrics trends and variances.
•  Ensure the Finance Team engage with other departments and together with the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the Trust’s objectives to increase financial awareness across the organisation by
  • Working with Budget Holders to understand and manage expenditure on a monthly basis and assist them with strategy and pricing decisions to feed into the budgeting and reforecasting process.
  • Evaluate and review new projects and new funding applications of funding in a timely manner, providing financial analysis as required.
  • Provide Financial Analysis to support regular monitoring reporting required by funders.
  • Drive KPI’s to evaluate projects and provide post-project analysis to evaluate and monitor the project’s progress against the KPI’s
• Work with Management and Trustees to develop a recently formed trading subsidiary which will become responsible for some existing and new revenue streams. This will require working with legal and tax advisors as necessary.

Essential Criteria 

• Qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA with a minimum 5 years of financial/commercial and team management experience.
• Excellent business acumen and commercial awareness gained in similar size organisations or larger.
• Strong analytical skills with a minimum 3+ years relevant Financial, Budgeting, Forecasting experience.
• Excellent attention to detail and ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to put yourself in the shoes of the receiver.
• Excellent Leadership Skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Enthusiastic with an appetite to continually learn and drive personal development.
