About us

Who we are

# JOIN THE CHANGE

Caudwell Children exists to make life fair for disabled and autistic children. We are not all born equal. We don’t all have the same chance to succeed. Disabled and autistic children face greater challenges than most. Our vision is to change the world so that disabled and autistic children have the choice, opportunity, dignity and understanding they deserve.

In order to achieve our vision we must:

Change lives:  Giving children and young people the support they need now, helping to remove barriers which prevent them from reaching their full potential.

Change charity:  Caudwell Children prides itself on efficiency and transparency.  For every £1 donated, the Charity delivers up to £2.14 worth of services.  Additionally, the Charity firmly believes in collaboration with delivery partners across the voluntary, public and private sectors.

Change society:  Shaping public perception and attitudes, informing government policy and increasing awareness and understanding.  Everyone, regardless of abilities or background should have the same opportunities.

Caudwell Children has always been shaped by listening to the people we support; the children and families who face incredible challenges just to get the same opportunities as everyone else.

Founded in 2000 in Stoke-on-Trent, we have gradually developed our range of services to meet the needs of our beneficiaries and increased our reach to help as many children as possible.

From supporting a few families in Staffordshire in 2000, we have grown into an international charity, helping over 78,500 children and counting from our home at the award-winning Caudwell International Children’s Centre at Keele University.

With 90 team members and a global network of amazing volunteers and donors supporting our work, we strive to give disabled and autistic children the confidence and ability to reach their full potential.

Our culture and values

Collaboration & Teamwork:  Together we are stronger, with you we can do more

Inclusion & Empathy:  Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace

Resourcefulness & Efficiency:  Ensuring effective use of our resources

“The strength of a team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.”   Phil Jackson.

At Caudwell Children we recognise that our work is emotive and our ambitions are great. We want to change the world, and the only way we will achieve our goal is to work as a team and to work as a team we must look after each other as a family. Our Purple Family.

Chloe:  “I started volunteering for Caudwell Children before my role and really enjoyed my time helping different departments as well as gaining invaluable experience working alongside the children. So, when a job came up for Assistant Psychology, it was a no-brainer to apply! “

Dominic:  “I was really impressed by the ethos of the charity and wanted to be a part of their mission. The office building is incredible and is a great environment to work in. Now that I’ve been here a while I can also say that the people are great too! ”

Jordan:  “I have always wanted to work in the field of Autism to help families and Caudwell Children was the perfect place to do it. There is neurodivergence within my family and I know how important accessing support can be.”

Caudwell Children offers state of the art facilities tailor made for employees, visitors, families and children in beautiful surroundings within the grounds of Keele University, including spacious work areas, free on-site parking, sensory gardens, a fully equipped kitchen, in-door and out-door breakout areas, chill-out areas, lockers and showers.
