Job Purpose:
To design, manage, and deliver research programmes that further the understanding of small business productivity.
We have recently signed a new contract that involves executing a variety of exciting research pilots to deepen our understanding of small business productivity, focusing on technology adoption. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering these pilots with the support of the wider team.
Key Responsibilities:
Project management
- Lead tendering processes and contract negotiations with suppliers.
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project plans.
- Manage project budgets to ensure financial efficiency and accountability.
Research design
- Build upon existing research and frameworks in the field.
- Use the theory of change to design comprehensive research projects.
- Accurately identify and allocate necessary resources for project delivery.
Programme management
- Execute research projects, including the recruitment of participants.
- Commission necessary resources and oversee pilot delivery.
- Ensure rigorous data collection processes are in place.
Stakeholder management
- Provide regular updates to funders regarding project progress.
- Manage expectations and project scope while maintaining stakeholder engagement and enthusiasm.
Evaluation
- Collaborate with internal teams or external evaluation partners to assess the impact of the research pilots.
Amplification
- Work with the Be the Business team to disseminate findings both internally and externally.
- Contribute to the broader small business knowledge base.
SMB Engagement
- Organise and deliver in-person and online clinics and workshops for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).

Ideal candidate
- This role is ideal for a research manager with extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and strong program or project management skills.
- Experience in UX design, marketing, or behaviour change research is advantageous.
- The ideal candidate enjoys managing projects from start to finish and is adept at handling complex stakeholder relationships.
The Research Manager will be part of a small but highly respected team, including the Head of Research and Insight and the Senior Insight and Evaluation Manager. Given the team's geographical spread, a preference for remote work is beneficial.

What you’ll be working on:
You'll be maintaining excellent stewardship to nurture and grow our supporters across a range of income streams

The role
We are looking for an experienced advisor to join our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee as Chair of our external EDI Committee. The advisor will help to shape our recruitment practices and processes to make them more inclusive. Together, we will explore the issues to reach a shared understanding of them and develop improved processes to trial.
There will be a minimum of four two-hour sessions each year. Advisors have a term of 3 years, with the option to complete a maximum of 2 terms. The Advisor will be paid £120 for each two-hour session. All sessions will be either in person in our London Bridge office (travel expenses up to approximately £25 per session will be reimbursed) or via Teams.

- Coordinate and work with KCLSU teams to support representatives and members in delivering their campaigns and communicate the impact of campaigning at KCLSU, building interest and recruiting new activists as a result.
- Deliver a range of approaches to student voice engagement, developing diverse methods of participation and innovative practices for facilitating student decision-making, co-creation, and capturing insight.
- Work with external organisations to lead on KCLSU involvement in local, national and NUS campaigns.

- Ensure participation in representation is accessible and inclusive, identifying and removing barriers to engagement particularly for low participation groups.
Leadership Development
- Create and deliver training, guidance and ongoing support for Student Officers, Student Representatives and Academic Associations, equipping students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to thrive in their role and feel empowered to grow as community leaders.
- Build strong and nurturing relationships with student representatives and Academic Association leaders, coordinating effective engagement and regular contact with our members.
- Empower students – particularly those from low participation groups - to become student leaders and participate in KCLSU Elections.

Qualifications
- A good standard of education, ideally to graduate level or equivalent. (Desirable)

The Development Manager (Individual Giving) will focus on increasing donations from individual supporters.
