About the role
The Media, PR & Digital Manager leads and supports the delivery of flexible, cost-effective and class-leading media, marketing, and digital communications. This role ensures MSSC achieves its objectives across campaigns, fundraising and policy through targeted and effective profile building in the media and across multiple online platforms.
The post holder will manage media communications activities, delivered in-house or outsourced as appropriate, to meet the needs of MSSC while maintaining the charity’s image, values and stakeholder engagement.
Responsibilities
Media & Public Relations
- Proactively explore national and regional opportunities for media coverage, establishing effective media links to raise the profile of the organisation.
- Lead and coordinate integrated media campaigns alongside digital marketing efforts for maximum impact and coverage.
- Support communication with MSSC’s internal and external stakeholders on sensitive media matters.
Marketing & Digital Communications
- Manage and coordinate the use of digital channels, including intranets, websites and social media.
- Lead the development and support of the DAMS (Marketing Hub) to facilitate effective brand and campaign management.
- Contribute to the production of high-quality, on-brand marketing materials, ensuring they meet deadlines and engage target audiences.
- Assist with website development and paid digital marketing campaigns.
- Develop and maintain MSSC’s social media channels and other digital communication platforms.
Requirements
- Degree graduate or equivalent and experience in a communications environment.

Role Summary
Southwark Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for over 1400 years. The Executive Assistant (EA) will provide support to the Chief Operation Officer (COO) to assist them in the effective functioning of all governance, human resources and operational arrangements at the Cathedral.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Support for the COO
- Lead the coordination, preparation, planning and follow up for the COO’s briefing for and attendance at meetings associated with the governance of the Cathedral, including Chapter, Finance Committee, Audit & Risk Committee, Nominations Committee, Fabric Advisory Committee and Board of Enterprises.
- Undertake research and assisting in the drafting and review of papers for such meetings. Minute taking will not usually be required (but may be requested from time to time in liaison with members of staff usually responsible for the minutes);
- Support the COO in all their working relationships including building and maintaining excellent relationships with Chapter Members and Committee Members, the Bishop’s staff and with the wider Diocese, as well as with neighbours, contractors, commercial partners and professional advisers;
- Draft briefs and management reports;
- Assist in the research, writing and preparation of the Cathedral’s Annual Report;
- Assist with the drafting and submission of Cathedral-wide documents, such as the Cathedrals Survey, Peer Review etc.

HR
Recruitment
Support the COO with co-ordination of recruitment for new Cathedral and Southwark Cathedral Enterprises Limited staff, in line with Safer Recruitment best practice;
- Co-ordinate the creation of job descriptions with direction from the COO & Director of HR, in liaison with the relevant Head of Department and line manager for the role being recruited;
- Manage the Cathedral’s recruitment processes – identifying platforms for advertisement, arranging short-listing and interview panels, featuring on shortlisting panels where required;
- Lead with preparations for interview – book rooms, invite candidates to interview, arrange testing and advise on test materials where needed, prepare and advise on interview questions;
- Where required, take part in interview panels;
- Manage the appointment process for new starters – communicate process outcomes to applicants (appointment and rejection communications), pursue references, complete pre-employment checks, liaise with colleagues on DBS check requirements;

Human Resources Administration for Staff
- Manage the Cathedral’s digital HR system (Mentor) – be responsible for creating and updating staff profiles, setting up each new leave year, monitoring annual leave & sick leave (reporting on these for KPI and audit purposes where necessary) and being the point of contact for staff who have queries on how to use the system;
- Communicate staff annual leave entitlement and respond to staff queries on leave;
- Support the Finance team with provision of HR information pertaining to the annual audit and insurance cover, e.g. staff numbers, requested contracts, annual leave summaries;
- Assist the COO with drafting of HR documentation/correspondence;
- Work with the Finance team on the provision of Annual Pay Review letters for all staff;
- Keep the Cathedral’s hard copy and digital HR filing systems up to date, in accordance with GDPR best practice;

Terms and Conditions
Working Hours
The working hours shall be 35 per hours a week, exclusive of meal breaks. Some out of hours working will be required to support meetings and events and this will be notified in advance. Time off in lieu will be awarded in line with Southwark Cathedral’s policy.
Annual Leave
25 days paid leave per annum including statutory bank holidays and an extra day at Christmas.
Probation
The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.
Season ticket loan
Once the probationary period has been completed satisfactorily, the person appointed will be eligible to take out a season ticket loan.
Pension
The person appointed will be eligible to join a defined contributions pension scheme managed by the Church Workers Pension Fund. The Cathedral will contribute half of the annual premium of 10% of salary.

INTRODUCTION
St George’s Hospital Charity manages a portfolio of over 200 Special Purpose Funds (SPFs), with a total over £3.6m. These funds, comprising donor-gifted and community-fundraised income, are designated to support specific wards, departments, research areas, or staff and patient groups. Each SPF is overseen by designated Fund Advisors, comprising staff from St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) and City, St George’s University of London, who hold delegated authority for expenditure approvals and funding applications. With over 350 Fund Advisors, effective stewardship is crucial.
We have developed a new organisational strategy focused on enhancing our impact through grant-making, and we are now in an exciting phase of implementation. The Grants Funds Manager will play a central role in delivering this strategy, specifically by implementing a more streamlined and impactful approach to working with Fund Advisors and managing our SPF portfolio. This role will be pivotal in facilitating the transition to a more efficient and effective model of SPF giving. The Grants Funds Manager will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the SPF portfolio, stakeholder engagement, communications, marketing, and administration, requiring collaboration across the Charity, the Trust, and the University at all levels.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Purpose of the role
To support senior management, the board of trustees and the wider charity leadership team with the strategy implementation, the management and administration of the Charity’s SPFs. As a priority, in the next 12 months, this role is tasked to implement the SPF strategy which has been agreed by the Charity’s Board of Trustees. The strategy is to re-organise and restructure the shape of the SPF portfolio of funds to minimise administrative burden, maximise the charity’s flexibility in spending decisions and reflect the best possible structure of services in the hospital so that we can deliver our charitable purposes of advancing healthcare to maximum effect.
This is why we are looking for someone who has expertise in change management, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication who is able to understand Charity Commission guidance and apply it. These are the skills necessary to implement the SPF strategy.
The next stage of the strategy will require a very strong grasp of detail, strong and confident communication and organisational skills to ensure stakeholders understand planned changes, in order to secure their support for them.
Background to the role
This role was originally created to provide dedicated resource to optimise the efficiency of our SPF portfolio, and champion these SPFs both internally among the Charity’s staff and externally within the Trust and University.
This is a role which must operate at a micro and macro level, paying attention to the detail of management, administration and systems but also with the ability to think strategically and make recommendations to senior management and trustees. The successful candidate will be highly organised and outgoing and will be an excellent project manager, with lots of initiative and the ability to reach out to people to build strong relationships.

The Community and Corporate Fundraiser is responsible for developing and implementing fundraising initiatives to secure financial support from corporate partners and community groups. This role involves building strong relationships with businesses, local organisations, and supporters to maximize income and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Fundraising:
- Develop and manage relationships with corporate partners
- Identify and approach new corporate funding opportunities through sponsorships, grants, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.
- Develop compelling funding proposals and partnership packages.
- Present engaging Lunch & Learns and regular progress reports to corporate partners.
- Work with businesses to create employee engagement opportunities, such as payroll giving, taking part in sporting challenges, sponsoring events and corporate volunteering.
- Monitor and evaluate corporate fundraising activities to ensure targets are met.
Community Fundraising:
- Engage with local communities, schools, faith groups, and clubs to encourage fundraising initiatives.
- Support individuals and groups with their fundraising efforts, providing guidance and materials.
- Develop innovative fundraising ideas to increase engagement and income.
General Fundraising & Administration:
- Maintain accurate records of donors, sponsors, and fundraising activities using CRM systems.
- Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and best practices.
- Work collaboratively with marketing and communications teams to promote fundraising efforts.
- Prepare reports on fundraising performance and impact.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- 2 years minimum, experience in fundraising (Corporate and Community)
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organised with good project management skills.
- Knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practices.
