About The Role
The Help for Heroes Community Development team are looking to recruit a team of Community Development Managers to assist in their reshaped participation and connection strategy. Using Asset Based Community Development, we seek to support the charity’s objective to enhance reach and positive impact for members of the Armed Forces Community facing challenges within their local communities.
As a Community Development Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of Community Builders, fostering collaboration, innovation and commitment to community impact working in an ABCD informed way. The aim is to connect and re-engage members of the AFC with the services at Help for Heroes and within the wider community.
This is an exciting and varied role for dynamic and confident individuals, in which the right candidate will work directly within communities across the UK; bringing the Armed Forces Community together to improve wellbeing and make the community a better place to live. The main purpose of the role is to contribute to the leadership of an integrated, community development and hybrid volumizing offer which improves reach and sustained positive impact for members of the Armed Forces community.
About You
You will be responsible for the effective line management of a dispersed community-based team and have experience managing co-designed/co-delivered community development initiatives. You will recognise the potential for growth and expansion within these communities and empower local people to exact changes focused on what’s important to them.
You will have a genuine professional commitment to ABCD informed delivery, possess the capacity to work collaboratively with others and pilot projects for new community development initiatives by identifying and creating viable plans for growth and expansion to increase reach, impact and accessibility across the AFC.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate locality-based Community Development related services

Provide line management for a regionally specific team of Community Builders, positively participating in line management meetings, annual appraisals, monthly and quarterly team meetings as required facilitating 1:1 and group line management supervision including volunteers

Act as safeguarding and health and safety lead for your regional team ensuring safe practice

Set clear objectives and performance expectations for Community Development colleagues/volunteers and programme activity

PLEASE NOTE: There is a requirement for frequent travel extensively within the regions allocated for this role. We are looking for someone with the following:

Educated to degree level in a relevant field (Social Science, Community Development, Health and Social Care), related field, or hold an equivalent professional Community Development qualification.

Demonstrable experience of senior management/leadership of a Community Development team or integrated multi-disciplinary service informed by Community Development principles

Proficiency in managing projects from conception to completion

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively
About The Team
You will work as part of the Community Development team; this newly formed team will approach working in defined localities using an asset based community development approach. Together the Community Development Managers and the Community Builders will strengthen local communities using resources and networks that are readily available. You will do this to proliferate opportunities for sustainable participation and engagement alongside a multi-disciplinary team in order to support the Armed Forces Community to live well after service.

The South East Rivers Trust (SERT) has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to gain more experience in river and catchment enhancement work - making a positive, lasting difference to the aquatic environment in the south east of England.
The Role
The Water and Land Stewardship Team (W&LS) lead the identification and delivery of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to improve rivers and catchments across the South East. Through evidence, stakeholder engagement and on-the-ground experience, this new senior role will lead and develop NbS project opportunities. You will aim for impact, scale and collaboration.
You will be responsible for delivering projects to scale up NbS across the SERT area, and lead the ‘South East demos’ for the Ofwat Innovation Mainstreaming Nature-based Solutions project, a flagship five-year innovation project with water industry partners across the UK. Working with colleagues at SERT to deliver NbS measures on the ground will give you the opportunity to make a real difference, using this to help regulators and policy makers address barriers and build enablers for NbS at scale.
You will lead walkovers, report on project opportunities identified, and develop projects on the ground, including natural flood management, riparian corridor enhancement and land management to increase catchment resilience. You will work closely with land managers to co-design feasible NbS options delivering multiple benefits. Your recommendations will be informed by data and evidence, and part of your role will be contributing to the effective collation of this across the Trust and the region. This will include identifying and reviewing nature market opportunities including through Biodiversity Net Gain, water resource, natural flood management and water quality, and you will look to capitalise on these opportunities and find ways to combine them with public funding (e.g. developing agri-environment schemes) to develop blended funding approaches. Working with our regional water companies, you will use your understanding of their drivers and processes to find ways of delivering more nature-based solutions with them in our catchments, building on existing relationships and projects within the Trust and the wider Rivers Trust movement.
Crucially, you will take a collaborative partnership approach, building close relationships with our regional water companies, farmer clusters and other NGOs as well as regulators and local authorities, and provide a vision for these stakeholder groups to drive improvement of our rivers and catchments.
This role is varied and allows for an individual to take ownership for their own projects, seeking and developing resolutions whilst working collaboratively with several organisations and individuals, as well as learn new skills and grow within a supported environment. You will be personable and inquisitive, enjoy working with evidence, be able to explain technical concepts in simple terms, engage positively with partners, and be passionate about rivers and the environment.
While the role covers the entire SERT area, we expect to develop a geographic focus towards either the East (Sussex, Kent) or West (Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey).

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity that exists to make sure no child or young person is too hungry to learn. We provide nutritious breakfasts and expert support to primary, secondary, ASN/SEND schools and pupil referral units in disadvantaged areas of England and Scotland. JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good the Philanthropy team’s role is to develop and deliver the charity's high net worth individual giving programme in line with Magic Breakfast’s strategic priorities to enable our organisational growth against our mission.
We are seeking to grow income through further cultivation and stewardship of our potential and existing donors. Our High Value Giving teams are forecast to collectively raise £5.1m in 2021/22, up from £4.6m two years ago in 2019/20. The team includes partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations, corporate organisations, and high-net-worth individuals.
Reporting into the Head of Philanthropy, this role will have a particular focus on ensuring that Magic Breakfast is offering the highest quality of donor care from start to finish, and building and developing our prospect pipeline.
We’re looking for a proactive person with excellent relationship building, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship skills as we seek to build our prospect pool, enhance or supporter journey and achieve our ambitious fundraising targets.
The Philanthropy Manager will have the opportunity to be innovative and creative, to create and test impactful donor journeys and engagement opportunities so Magic Breakfast’s supporters feel valued and can understand the transformational difference they are making to hungry children and their learning in the UK.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Income generation and donor stewardship and prospect development

Manage your own portfolio of donors, providing excellent stewardship and strategies to uplift and secure multi year donations

Work with Corporate, Trusts and Individual Giving teams to identify potential major donors and high value regular givers within Magic Breakfast’s donor portfolio and implement plans to develop these relationships;

Write accurate, inspiring and compelling fundraising propositions and reports for potential and existing major donors

Complete timely event reviews to improve and inform future decision making and planning.

The role will manage the Donor Acquisition Fundraiser and In-Memory Fundraiser and be responsible for the overall delivery of our individual giving strategy.
As the Individual Giving Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of our individual giving programme of fundraising and activities, aimed at individuals. Job Purpose:
The Energy Programme Manager will provide strategic and technical leadership in the delivery and development of the SHA Energy programme in Malawi. They will be expected to oversee the implementation of SHA’s existing portfolio of Energy projects in Malawi, provide technical input to the team and sector in Malawi, continue to develop programme approaches based on evolving best practice and the changing landscape, and mobilise resources for continued growth of the programme.
The position will report to the Malawi Deputy Country Director- Programmes and there will be regular meetings between the Energy Programme Manager, other Programme Managers and Management Team in Malawi and technical advisors from SHA’s Global Office. The role will also involve capacity building of national staff in Malawi to take increased ownership of the programme and enable its continued growth. The Energy Programme Manager will leverage their technical and contextualised knowledge to provide expert advice and advocacy to Malawi’s energy sector (particularly in the areas of cleaner cooking, carbon finance and off-grid electrification) and maintain the programme’s close and productive relationships with its donors and stakeholders to expand the reach, sustainability and impact of our work.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Programme Management and Oversight
1.1 Quality Assurance
- Ensure the programme portfolio is delivered in line with good practice and quality benchmarks in line with sector-based standard operating standards and GESI tools etc
- Ensure an adaptive management approach is taken
- Work with the Monitoring Evaluation Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Working Group through National MEAL Manager to ensure that we are documenting learning and integrating it into programme design and delivery.
- Ensure MEAL data collected is in line with national MEAL framework through participatory M&E approaches and integrating feedback from staff, partners and project participants.
- Liaise with relevant organisation technical advisors and incorporate learning and global expertise in the programme cycle
- Ensure value for money and efficiency across the programme cycle
- Conduct field visits to monitor project progress.
1.2 Compliance & Risk
- Oversee the development and timely submission of high-quality donor technical and financial reports, in collaboration with projects and operations colleagues
- Ensure that processes are in place to allow for systematic and inclusive feedback to communities and stakeholders on all programme reports and evaluations undertaken
- Working with Project Managers to ensure all projects develop annual, quarterly and monthly plans and that these are actioned and reported against
- Deliver a consolidated risk assessment for the programme portfolio every month and ensure mitigation measures are actioned and followed
- Ensure that internal audit is adequately budgeted across the portfolio
- Ensure that internal audit findings and recommendations are followed up on and actioned as per agreed timelines
- Ensure that every project in the portfolio has a grant opening and closing meeting and that these are filed
- Ensure that every project has monthly review process
- Ensure adequate oversight on all financial transactions and project activities to reduce the risk of non-compliance with policies and risk of fraud
- Ensure annual procurement planning and that all project procurement is cost effective in line with donor and organisational policy
- Ensure that project implementation is complying to donor driven policy and direction, such as the DSA policy, and engaging in communication and advocacy through the MT where donor direction is not in line with the Malawi 2063 or the organisation’s vision and mission.
1.3 Finance
- Oversee internal monthly financial reports and project budgets and cashflow forecasts
- Ensure full project spend without disallowance
- Authorise all project related expenditure in line with SHAs Delegation of Authority framework
- Support and oversee project related procurements.
1.4 Safeguarding
- Ensure that all projects have an active trained safeguarding focal point who can effectively disseminate the reporting channels and policy
- Ensure that all project have a safeguarding plan and report against this during monthly meetings
- Ensure that reporting channels are promoted and visible across all projects in the portfolio
- Ensure that all colleagues within your portfolio have undergone safeguarding training and signed the global code of conduct
- Ensure all staff, partners and stakeholders sign, comply and promote the SHA Safeguarding policy and code of conduct.
1.5 People Management
- Manage teams of staff across all projects in your portfolio and provide line management to Project Managers
- Incubate and enhance skills development of staff across the programme, encouraging learning and development, identifying opportunities for professional development and upward mobility within the organisation
- Ensure all staff members in your portfolio have completed an induction, have passed probation and that annual PDRs are conducted
- Ensure the portfolio has the right team in place in line with the strategy and the values of the organisation
- Ensure that the portfolio can retain and attract skilled and experienced gender balanced teams
- Ensure that you are promoting wellbeing across your team and that staff are encouraged to take their leave entitlements and access training and wellbeing opportunities provided by the organisation

2.Strategy and Programme Development
- Ensure we are working in line with the locally-led development approach
- Provide technical support to programme implementation for Malawi Energy programme staff to deliver consistently high quality, innovative programmes in both the energy and carbon finance sectors.
- Working within the Malawi Country strategy, and working with other Programme Managers, towards the delivery of our Strategic Objectives and ensuring integration across our work
- Feed into the development of new Country Programme policies and position papers
- Keep up to date with global good practice, technology, approaches and emerging trends, as well as innovative ideas, translating them to the Malawi context
- Capture learning and adapt programming accordingly to maximise impact for communities
- Feed into and promote our Community-Led programming policy work. Maintain long term local and international donor relations to ensure continuation and growth of existing funding
- Keep abreast of new funding opportunities and oversee the development of high-quality proposals for existing and new funders based on organisational learning. Diversify funding sources and secure funding for existing and new areas of focus in line with the CP strategy including carbon finance and impact investment.
- Foster establishment and growth in SHA’s sustainable energy social enterprise
- Where requested by other Country Programs, to provide remote technical advice to assist in the delivery of their projects.
3. Partnership, Representation and Advocacy
- Act as a thought leader in the energy sector in Malawi providing technical support and strategic direction to a wide range of stakeholders across private and public sectors, and civil society.
- Support the National Cookstove Steering Committee (NCSC) as a key member of the coordination group for which SHA is the secretariat. This includes leading the organisation of the annual Cleaner Cooking Conference and quarterly coordination group meetings.
- Maintain, strengthen and build networks and alliances at national level with government, academia, donors and local organisations
- Maintain, strengthen and build partnerships with companies and entrepreneurs to augment the programme’s reach and sustainability of impacts through market-based approaches.
- Ensure active engagement of the programme at district level with all relevant government structures
- Act as the primary focal point for all donors that fund the programme portfolio
- Liaise with Government of Malawi counterparts (national and district) and ensure we are visible and working in line with Government needs and priorities
- Represent SHA at workshops and conferences, ensuring our organisation and work is visible
- Maintain and expand our partnerships across Government, academia, private sector, NGOs and wider civil society, working in coordination with our Partnerships Manager
- Proactively engage in relevant fora and working groups to achieve systemic change within the sector
- Ensure all programme learning is shared internally and externally.
Knowledge, Experience and Other Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree level qualification in energy, development, environment or other relevant discipline (post-graduate preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position in sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on green energy access

The Role
As our Deputy Shop Manager you will be responsible for setting up our brand-new shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.
You will manage the day-to-day operation of the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager, including managing a team of volunteers, ensuring accurate accounting and handling of assets, delivering high standards of customer service, and adhering to all charity policies and procedures. You will lead by example and ensure that volunteers, supporters, donors, and customers understand how their contributions are making a difference to the lives of people in Yorkshire and beyond.
Specifically, you will:

Play an active part in running our shop in Hull, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity.

Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation.

Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment.

Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received).

Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes.

Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:

To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential.

To have Experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable.

To be highly organised with good time management skills.

To be able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

To be able to use own initiative.

To be resilient and adaptable to change.

To have good planning, guiding and motivation skills to successfully achieved targeted income is desirable.

Our Business Development Team is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for a motivated, driven and proactive individual to join us as a Business Development Manager . You will be responsible for driving our new business strategy, aiming to secure new partnerships across education and raising our profile within Senior Leadership, as well as delivery teams. You will also play a significant role within the Business Development Team to provide both internal and external support, which will be both colleague and customer focussed. The successful candidate will understand the importance of developing an implementing new business strategies. They will be looking for an opportunity to demonstrate their sales and growth mindset within a strong team environment. They will be committed to working within our organisation values, whilst affecting external decision-making through a customer engagement approach.
The main purpose will be:
1. Deliver sales targets in line with business development strategies.
2. Lead the creation and implementation of ‘new business’ engagement strategies within the business development division.
3. Strategically expand the network of centres delivering Leadership Skills Foundation programmes.
4. Develop sales and registrations strategies to grow new business opportunities and maximise our relationships with centres.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Create and implement the new business strategy for increasing the number of centres committed to delivering Leadership Skills Foundation programmes.
2. Identify and develop profitable growth opportunities with customers, partner networks and key stakeholders.
3. Collaborate with the Market Development Manager to include emerging programmes in maximising growth and expansion opportunities with centres.
4. Collaborate with marketing and communications colleagues to create new business campaigns and activities.
5. Co-ordinate tactical activities to engage with new audiences i.e. webinars and conferences.
6. Responsibility for ensuring all management information and relationship management insight relating to prospective/new centres is captured.
7. Monitor performance of commercial activities utilising insight systems to prepare reports and forecasts for the Head of Business Development and wider Leadership Team.
8. Conduct regular research and analysis on commercial opportunities to reach new audiences and expand/grow delivery.
9. Work alongside Innovation, Marcomms and Quality Assurance team colleagues to attract, engage and delight customers under the Customer Experience strategy.
10.Alongside the Head of Business Development and Director of Engagement, review, explore and consider future pricing models aimed at increasing the average spend of centres, supporting ‘a whole education leadership offer’.
11.To carry out any other duties as requested to support the work of the Leadership Skills Foundation commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of the post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.
