What we are looking for: We are looking for a person to make the role their own. The successful applicant will have excellent written skills with the ability to produce concise and creative bids. They will also have proficient IT skills, specifically Microsoft Office software and excellent communication and presentation skills required to build relationships with potential funders. They will have demonstrative ability to plan and prioritise their own workload with minimum supervision and be able to plan ahead and work within agreed timeframes.

What you will need: The successful candidate will need to have at least two years’ experience in an income generation environment as well as a proven record of successful applications for funding from Trusts and Grants. They will have a demonstrative ability to research and develop relationships with partners, Trusts, and other Grant-making bodies.

We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Finance for our small and energetic Accounts team. The School of Philosophy and Economic Science is a registered educational charity offering courses to adults, both in person and online. 

This position gives you an opportunity to get involved in all aspects of charity finance, from managing a team to reporting to the Trustee board, coordinating budgets and overseeing our annual audit. It's a busy and varied role.

The Head of Finance reports directly to the charity's General Manager and Treasurer.

You will have a track record of pitching, securing, managing, and growing six and seven figure partnerships in the third (or equivalent) sector, coupled with excellent relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders. You are self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative, but you also enjoy collaborating with colleagues.

We are looking for a personable and intuitive candidate with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to achieve maximum impact upon relevant situations and audience.

• 3+ years of experience within a treasury, cash management, or financial analysis roles is essential. Preferably within a global organisation or within the not-for-profit sector.

About the role:

We are seeking a new Head of Business and Operations to play a crucial role in supporting the Head to review and drive continuous improvement.

The key responsibilities in the role will include:

1. Finances: You will oversee and manage all finances and a multi million pound budget for the school.
2. Human Resources: This will include leading on people strategy, workforce planning and performance management including evaluating the schools operational model.
3. Systems and Processes: One of the immediate priorities for this role will be to evaluate systems and processes (for monitoring areas outlined in the job description) and seek ways to streamline these with innovative solutions.

This role does involve line management of two assistant operations managers as well as other office and facilities staff within the school.

You will join a fast-growing organisation that started in 2019 with four volunteers and has grown to a staff team of twenty (with more recruitment in the pipeline for 2024), over 1,000 volunteers and ownership of nearly 600 acres of land that will grow woodlands of over 160,000 trees. 

We are looking for an individual who can come in to review our current offering, help develop and shape a sector leading proposition for companies, develop new relationships and lead on exceptional account management. 

Corporates are one of the key areas of focus for our new fundraising strategy, released in September 2024 where we are aiming to build up a specialism in a smaller number of fundraising channels where we feel we have natural strengths and see opportunity. There is also the opportunity to get involved with other forms of fundraising, in particular the coordination of our major donor programme.

While Avon Needs Tress is a charity, the role would also suit someone from the commercial sector with relevant skill sets of account management and new business acquisition who is looking to move into the social and environmental impact space.

We are partnering with an organisation that supports members of the armed forces community, including veterans and adult family members with health conditions and other complex challenges, on their journey into employment after leaving service.

They help individuals overcome barriers to employment and transform their lives. With a long and proud history, the organisation continually adapts its services to ensure they remain relevant to modern-day veterans and their families.

This key role involves delivering a grants portfolio to support the strategic aims of Veterans and Family Services. Working alongside the Senior Trusts Manager, you will be responsible for generating income from trusts, foundations, and corporate partnerships at the 5- and 6-figure level. The core grant fundraising programme is well-established, with regular funds from military charities and other trusts and foundations. The corporate partnership programme has recently been updated to focus on higher-value grants and broader partnerships.

The charity has ambitious plans to expand its services and is seeking a capable and confident individual who can work autonomously and creatively across a diverse portfolio, while also engaging with the wider team. This is a remote role, open to those based in the UK, with travel required to London once a month. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis, so please get in touch ASAP. 

As Trust and Corporate Fundraising Manager, you will: 

• Support the development and delivery of the fundraising plan, proactively researching and pursuing new income opportunities, with targets for fundraising applications to trusts & foundations and corporate foundations. (Account Management 60%, New Business 40%)
• Develop strategic and collaborative relationships with funders to maximise income and ensure excellent supporter care with a team target of £770k
• Write and submit compelling, evidence-based funding applications, targeted to the priorities and criteria of the funder
• Provide excellent stewardship of all funders, building on the existing stewardship framework

Ideal skills and experience: 

If you’re someone who enjoys a varied portfolio with a focus on trusts, foundations and corporate partners, particularly those with corporate foundations, and you’re ready to play a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding services, we would love to hear from you.

• Experience in grant fundraising, charitable foundations, corporate foundations, lottery or statutory sources
