Finance and Resources Manager (Full Time)

Advocacy After Fatal Domestic Abuse (AAFDA) was founded by Frank Mullane in memory of his sister Julia Pemberton and her son Will who were both killed by her ex-partner in 2003.  

Each year, around 150 families lose a loved one to domestic homicide. The actual number of suicides as a result of domestic abuse remains unknown. AAFDA’s prime function is to provide families in England and Wales with specialist peer support and expert and specialist advocacy for the range of statutory reviews that will take place after domestic homicide.

As a growing charity, AAFDA is looking for an exceptional candidate to join our supportive team and lead our finance and resource management functions. The role will provide and manage the HR, administration and finance activities of the charity and sit within the Senior Leadership Team.

Emmaus Bristol is a local homelessness charity and part of the international movement of Emmaus communities.

We are looking for a Head of Buildings to lead on the maintenance and improvement of our existing premises as well as playing a role in acquiring new buildings – whether renting a shop or building homes.

Communications and Advocacy Manager  - Resilient Water Accelerator

Contract: 2-year Fixed-term contract, with the potential to extend, Full-time.

Location: The role can be based in the UK or USA
For the UK Location: Hybrid working, WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base. About the Team:
The Resilient Water Accelerator (RWA), hosted by WaterAid, is global initiative that aims to:

• Address the climate impacts on water to strengthen resilience in vulnerable communities;
• Secure greater investment from public and private sources in water infrastructure and services;
• Ensure this work can be replicated and scaled to increase long term water security.

To achieve this we will work with policy makers, experts, investors and communities to identify critical climate risks to water and shape a business case for priority projects. We will work to ensure these projects act as positive examples of a new approach to programme development in the water and climate sectors. This role will play an essential part in delivering our international programme of work.

As Communication and Advocacy Manager you will play a key role in delivering our global thought leadership objectives

About the Role:
As Communication and Advocacy Manager you will  help to draw links between our work in country and the much needed action on international finance for climate resilience. You will be ready to engage strategically with influential governments and organisations to influence their policies and practices as they relate to water.

As a leader on communications you will be a critical part of the RWA’s global team — helping to link the different parts of the RWA together and co-ordinate with our partners around the world. You will ensure the team has a line of sight to the relevant policies and initiatives affecting the RWA’s work, and that there is clear, consistent and compelling messaging of the Accelerator through different communications channels. They will bring a fresh and inventive approach lead the communication of that thought leadership with key stakeholders. You will lead internal communications with WaterAid and the Steering Committee and work with colleagues across WaterAid’s network to build awareness of the Accelerator’s work. This will be vital to amplifying our messaging around global water security and climate adaptation. As this work is in its early stages, a flexible approach to the team’s work will be helpful, adjusting to changing priorities and progress on the ground.

The position will be hosted by WaterAid, which has been acting as the Accelerator’s interim host until an agreement with a long-term host has been finalized.

The successful candidate will:

• Take the lead on development and delivery of the Accelerator’s communications and advocacy strategy as a key measureable output
  • Initiate the creation of an advocacy “campaign” to ensure awareness of the RWA its objectives – drawing on our work.
  • Lead in publication materials and branding
  • Managing internal comms, online and social media engagement
• Enable impactful advocacy
  • Co-lead on strategic engagement with key institutions including national governments, multilateral banks, and UN bodies
  • Co-ordinate relevant events, communications and policy developments with partner organisations in water and climate finance
• Support Partnerships
  • Liaise regularly with key partners including Arup, Sustainable Markets Initiative, FCDO water team, CDP and others.
  • Co-ordinate external communications efforts with partners

About you:

• Ability to act on your own initiative to ensure momentum of our work is maintained
• Experience with developing internal or external communications strategies
• Experience of develop an impactful advocacy strategy
• Experience in assessing policy documents and evidence, summarising this and pulling out relevant information in an accessible way.
• Ability to produce high quality written work in English with a strong eye for detail
• Experience of organising events
• Experience of working in a public policy or campaigning organisation
• Passionate about climate adaptation and water security, and driven to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities

• An understanding of how to deal with people who have experienced trauma.

About the role

Richmond AID have 3 main advice teams: Information Navigation, Benefits Advice and Money Advice. We also administer a number of grants on behalf of local grant giving charities and the local authority. Our teams are busier than ever and this role will play a vital part in supporting the team with administration tasks including; taking client enquiries from the phone, website and email and uploading them to our database, scanning and photocopying.

You will spend your time working directly with clients with a range of physical, sensory and mental health impairments to help them to fill in grant allocation forms and other forms and helping people to know their rights. You will also support our advice teams administratively; arranging appointments, sending emails and letters and uploading information to our database

You will receive training in a range of advice areas (housing, health and social care, benefits, transport and travel) as well as other relevant topics such as various mental health conditions, managing challenging behaviour, professional boundaries, and case management. You will be supported by a friendly team of experienced advisers who will have the opportunity to shadow and you will also have access to a range of external training and development opportunities.

You will need to have clear written and oral communication skills as you will need to make phone calls and write emails and letters to clients as well as providing progress updates to the team.

You will work closely with our experienced advice team and we can offer opportunities for training and development in a range of areas including social care, housing and benefits to support you on your journey to becoming and advisor.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have solid administration and organisational skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. You will have strong communication skills across all levels and will be a real team player with a genuine interest in supporting disabled people.

An interest in developing advice skills in essential and experience or a background in advice and information will be an advantage.

You will have excellent communication and IT skills, administrative skills and be fully competent on Microsoft applications. You will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about social justice and the empowerment of disabled people and excited to learn valuable skills on the job.

International Programmes Manager: Local First

Salary: £43,000 p.a.

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: You can be based at Peace Direct’s office in London or The Hague. We also offer hybrid working.

Peace Direct is an international charity that works with local peacebuilders and their allies to shift power and resources for sustainable peace. The International Programme Manager is responsible for the effective management, coordination and delivery of an ambitious new multi-year programme, Local First: Transforming the Peacebuilding System. This programme will support and strengthen the ecosystem of local actors working for sustainable peace in Afghanistan, Mali, Sudan and eastern DRC, and advocate for increased resourcing and acknowledgement of locally-led peacebuilding.

About the role:

Working across the People team the People and Talent Coordinator is an essential for the organisation, contributing to the long- term development and performance of the People directorate. The postholder will have excellent communications skills, a keen eye for detail and an ability to work on their own initiative in a fast-paced environment. The role provides technical expertise and support on Talent, People and L&D related matters, including actively supporting the end- to- end recruitment for all posts, using ATS/HRIS systems, strong contribution towards inductions and DBS checks. The role also provides the key point of contact for staff on day-to-day routine HR questions and queries, and hands-on interaction and delivery of L&D initiatives.

About You:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills and attributes set out in the persons specification. We are seeking a self- starter who can seamlessly coordinate tasks with competing priorities. HR knowledge is a bonus, however demonstration of a proven track record of working in a busy environment, delivering to deadlines and cross sectional working puts you in a good position.

You will bring operational working knowledge of the Microsoft suite, and Mailchimp. Ideally you come from or have a HR background and have worked in the voluntary sector and if not, you are able to demonstrate your transferable skill set showcasing your excellent ability to undertake this role.

You will be joining a skilled six persons People team dedicated to supporting the organisation across all People matters.

As Service Manager, you will continuously enhance the quality and best practices of our services, supporting individuals who have experienced homelessness and face a wide range of social and health challenges.

In this role, you will work closely with our new CEO and as a key part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) to develop and implement Threshold’s strategic and business plans. You will report directly to the CEO, providing insights and updates on our progress. This position has a particular focus on supported housing and community-based services. Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a Christian mission organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope and healing in over 25 countries. For more than 75 years, MAF aircraft have been overcoming inaccessible terrain transporting mission and development agency staff, delivering urgent aid and medical supplies to transform the lives of remote and isolated communities. 

We are now seeking an experienced, creative and enthusiastic Philanthropy and Partnership Team Leader to join our team to support the development of relationships with high-net-worth individuals, a wide variety of trusts/foundations and corporate supporters. In this role you will be responsible for managing a high performing and highly motivated team, to engage and enhance relationships with individuals, grant making trusts, corporate and institutional donors delivering against ambitious income targets. 

Responsibilities Include

Strategic Planning

• To work with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to develop and deliver a Major Gifts strategy with a focus on increasing income to meet ambitious funding targets, and to deliver the strategy through annual strategic planning, setting clear targets and KPIs focussing on year on year growth
• To lead on a departmental strategy for generating a pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and major gifts prospects
• Develop the annual budget for the team and take responsibility for the monitoring of income against budget.

 Portfolio Management

• To work closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, the CEO, Trustees and other stakeholders on prospect identification, cultivation and asks
• To personally manage a small portfolio of high-level donors, including institutional funders to secure five and six figure gifts and ensure their long-term commitment to the charity.

 Team Management

• To oversee the operation of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team and to have direct line management responsibility for a team of four Relationship Managers, to ensure they are engaged, delivering agreed strategies, and meeting agreed financial targets
• To oversee all relevant fundraising activities, including research and analysis of current and potential prospects, ensuring that activity is data protection compliant
• To ensure the team maintains accurate records of relationships with major donors on our database, and to ensure that due diligence is carried out where required
• To over see the management of a range of events for supporters and prospects
• To support the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships with planning and strategy as required
• Represent the Philanthropy and Partnerships team at quarterly review meetings and other forums as appropriate
• Manage the department budget effectively to maximise the impact of MAF operations overseas.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Educated to degree level
• Success and significant experience of fundraising from generous individuals and trusts. Candidates with significant experience in a relationship management role may also be considered
• Demonstrable experience in building effective long term relationships and influencing with Major Donors
• Significant management experience leading a successful team to meet agreed targets and working at a strategic level
• Demonstrable understanding of the provisions of GDPR legislation and the implications for fundraising
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including presentation and training skills.
• Highly effective influencer and communicator at all staff and external donor levels. Able to build effective, collaborative, and long-term relationships internally and externally
• Positive and persuasive individual who can handle complexity, conflicting priorities, and difficult conversations.

Terms and Conditions:

• Location: This role is base at the MAF UK Offices in Folkestone, Kent.  We welcome hybrid working in line with our flexible working policy, the needs of the business, the requirements of the role and your location. This will be discussed at interview.
• Working Hours: At least 36 hours per week, with 1 hour for lunch daily unpaid. Hours should be agreed with line manager.
