We’re looking for a passionate, proactive and experienced Senior Press Officer to join the media team. You’ll use your excellent comms skills to design and deliver media strategies that achieve cut-through in crowded media spaces, raise our profile and brand awareness, and support campaigns that deliver wins critical to building a fair, zero-carbon future.

As part of this role, you will bring to life our work as an environmental justice organisation and ensure that the voices of those most at risk and already hardest hit by the climate and nature crises, both in the UK and overseas, are at the centre of our media and comms stories.

Key Skills: 

• Extensive experience pitching and placing impactful stories across mainstream UK broadcast, online and print media.
• Proven relationships with journalists, editors, producers and broadcasters at national, regional and specialist climate and environmental outlets.
• Ability to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and respond quickly to reactive opportunities.
• In-depth knowledge of the UK media landscape and emerging comms trends.
• Extensive experience delivering successful news and PR strategies.
• Excellent writing skills with demonstrable ability to write for different audiences.
• Experience managing crisis comms and reputational risk.

The successful candidate will have;

• Ability to work as part of cross-organisational teams to deliver impactful campaigns and integrated multi-channel comms moments.
• Proven ability to own and lead on key strands of press work and take decisions on the most suitable media approaches for delivering maximum impact.

To raise voluntary income from a range of Grantmakers including Trusts, Foundations and local Government grant funders contributing to an overall team target of £1-million. Working effectively within the team unit and across the organisation you will meet individual targets through building excellent relationships with funders, leading to more young people reached by Eikon’s services.

Responsibilities:

Income generation

· Raise voluntary unrestricted and restricted income through submission of high-quality proposals (60% of time)

· Lead on developing the portfolio of funders, joining external networks, seeking out leads from internal staff/ trustees and developing intelligence on potential funders.

· Provide support as requested for significant strategic opportunities to support the Grants & Partnerships Lead.

· Develop an effective approach for raising unrestricting income.

· Work to agreed metrices including an annual target of £120,000-£150,000/year (exact target will be dependent on working hours agreed and level of experience), a set number of bids and reports submitted monthly, number of multi-year commitments and lifetime value of grants (to be agreed).

Target Audience:

Portfolio to include Surrey and Regional based funders including trusts, foundations and local government grant funders. Some of these will be existing, and some to be identified.

Account Management:

· Provide excellent account management to grant funders.

· Optimise funding potential and retention of funders through quality and timely reports, regular communication including meetings, and through building excellent relationships.

· Thinking creatively, working with colleagues organise own events/opportunities to increase engagement of funders e.g. project visit, garden open day

· Identify other funding opportunities through relationships, for example for Major Donors, Corporate partnerships and Individual Givers.

· Lead on administration for all designated grants including thank you letters, updating Donorfy and sharing info/updates across the team (comprising approximately 15% of the time).

Internal Reporting:

· Manage accurate and up to date pipeline information on Donorfy, being able to pull reports for information and analysis including:

o Provision of data and narrative for monthly team meetings

o Contribution to Board reporting with narrative and pipeline information

o Analysis for annual planning sessions

Quality and standards:

· Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and deliver within Eikon’s safeguarding policies and practices when taking part in fundraising activities.

· Ensure all activities follow the relevant Fundraising Codes of Practice and Eikon’s Ethical Fundraising Policy.

· Prepare relevant Grant Agreements and contractual information.

· Carry out risk assessments for all activities for which you are responsible.

· Carry out required basic due diligence on new funders.

Finance and resources:

· Operate within organisational approved budgets, policies and procedures.

Communications and relationships:

· Support and liaise with the Marketing Communications Coordinator to deliver relevant and effective content and materials.

· Proactively increase social media activity through provision of content and encouragement of funders to engage.

Strategy/transformation work:

· Contribute to Engagement and Services Team’s annual plans and budgets and the Grants high level strategy.

· Provide coordination and organisation of internal team planning meetings and workshop, including timings, agenda items and preparation of meeting/workshop materials.

Organisational requirements:

37.5 hours per week / permanent / working across Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, office based in Eastbourne, delivering Transitional Services in the community across Eastbourne, Bexhill, St Leonards and Hastings.

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

East Sussex Transitional Housing is a low-support service, providing safe, secure, supported accommodation for 102 young people between the ages of 18-25 who have been, or are, at risk of homelessness. We have a small, supportive, and established team which manages 19 housing properties across, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings. We adopt a trauma informed and psychologically informed approach to supporting our residents to help them build essential life skills, identify their goals and work towards aspirations so that they can move on to enjoy fully independent futures.

We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our East Sussex Transitional team. You will be based at the YMCA office in Eastbourne but will be visiting our seven properties around Eastbourne each week, meeting with residents in their homes and at the office - main areas of responsibilities are:

Housing

• You will hold a caseload of young people who are housed across our sites with the support of the team.Support provided is light touch, and a good knowledge of partner agencies is essential for relevant signposting
• Interview young people to assess their suitability for our housing
• Support young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules in preparation for independent living.Helping young people navigate shared living skills is key to this role and includes facilitating house meetings, rotas and cleaning sessions
• Support young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent and liaise with housing benefit
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing and welfare benefits for young people
• Complete Occupancy Sign up and induction with incoming residents
• Deal effectively with non-compliance issues, such as non-payment of rent, ASB or breaches of Health and Safety, using restorative practices
• Contribute to maintaining properties to a high standard including conducting health and safety checks

Support and Engagement

• Light touch support to residents, signposting to partner agencies as appropriate
• Support each resident to develop their own person-centred Support Plan with short- and long-term goals to work towards independent living skills and their next accommodation steps
• Arrange Review Meetings with young people at least once every 3 months to update and review risk assessments and support plans
• Check in with each resident at least once a week
• Encourage a culture of education, employment and engagement
• Ensure consistent standards of safeguarding and Trauma Informed Practice when supporting young people, observing our safeguarding procedures, and keeping yourself and residents safe by respecting professional boundaries
• Maintain client records on In-Form (client database) detailing the young person’s journey in relation to their strengths and needs, any risks, and any outcomes (to monitor service performance)

YMCA Hastings provides medium-low supported accommodation for a total of 47 young people at risk of homelessness, aged 16 to 25, and care experienced young people under the age of 18. We have a dedicated team of Support Workers, Night Workers and additional Bank Workers who provide support, guidance, and signposting around areas such as housing, budgeting, living skills, jobs and relationship building. Situated just of the seafront, the project has strong links with and contributes to the local community.

We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Hastings Foyer team. Main areas of responsibilities are:

Housing

• Coach young people to manage their occupancy agreement and adhere to house rules, in preparation for independent living. 
• Promote a credit culture, encouraging young people to keep up to date with all payments for rent.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing and welfare benefits for young people and be well-informed on significant changes to housing law.

Coaching and Engagement

• Coach young people so they can articulate their aspirations and ambitions and take the lead in acquiring the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives.
• Ensure young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their own personal development, to engage with the services on offer and build strong networks and connections within the local community. 
• Ensure consistent standards of safeguarding and Trauma Informed Practice when supporting young people, observing our safeguarding procedures, and keeping yourself and residents safe by respecting professional boundaries.
• Maintain client records on In-Form (client database) detailing the young person’s journey in relation to their strengths and needs, any risks, and any outcomes (to monitor service performance). 

General 

• Work as part of a team, on a rota shift pattern, ensuring young people at the service have non-judgemental, objective, and supportive staff during the day/evening, along with taking responsibility for personal safety during periods of lone working
• Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.
• Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice.

You will undertake assessments, fit practical energy saving measures and then offer energy saving advice to residents.

It’s a unique and challenging role that gives you the chance to make a difference to people’s lives every day.

Appropriate qualifications in energy efficiency would be useful but not vital as we will provide full in-job training for the successful candidates.

About the Role:

As a Stalking Caseworker you will:

• Manage your own caseload of service users which will include safety planning, risk and need assessing and completing an action plan with the service user
• Complete in depth needs assessments to complete actions such as advocating with the police or other criminal justice agencies, voluntary sector or statutory sector services
• Signpost or refer service users to other services and may signpost to online tools and resources
• Work with the service manager to upskill external colleagues, promote the service and raise awareness about the service and about stalking more generally
