This role is being advertised as a Shop Manager but on appointment your job title will be Community Shop Manager.

We’re looking for confident and influential people who want to be at the heart of their local community looking for an opportunity to have control of creative merchandising within managing a Shelter shop. You will need to have good communication skills to engage with the local community to seek out new opportunities to increase the shops contribution to help further Shelter’s cause. You will develop your own and your teams’ interests in merchandising the shop attracting customers and continually develop yours and your team’s knowledge of Shelter, who we are and what we do.

As Shop Support Manager, you will provide key operational support on defined areas, working alongside the Shop Manager in Teddington to understand the shop, community, and proposition.

Working closely with the Shop Manager, you'll assist in the delivery of the shop's potential. 

You'll play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, helping to embed best practice ways of working and support the Shop Manager in empowering the volunteer team to help drive the shop forward.

The Role 
 
As our Deputy Shop Manager, you will raise funds to invest in achieving the charity’s goal to save lives in Yorkshire and portray the charity as a professional, credible brand which acts with integrity. Reporting to the Shop Manager, you will provide excellent customer service, ensuring volunteers, donors and customers know how their contribution is helping the people of Yorkshire. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Play an active part in running our shop in Ripon, supporting the Shop Manager in implementing processes and ways of working.

• Provide cover for days off, holidays and sickness as required, with possible occasional travel to other shops to provide support if needed by the charity. 

• Support the Shop Manager to maximise the income and profit of the shop through active stock management, replenishment, and rotation. 

• Manage a team of well-trained volunteers in the absence of the Shop Manager and take every effort to create a happy retail environment. 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate accounting and handling of assets (items donated and money received). 

• Support the Shop Manager to ensure accurate record keeping of items donated and the amount paid for each item for Gift Aid tax reclaim purposes. 

• Create a welcoming professional atmosphere and deliver high standards of customer service for all customers and supporters. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent but not essential. 

• To have experience of managing people/volunteers including recruitment and development.

• To have previous retail experience in charity sector or commercial sector is desirable. 

• To be highly organised with good time management skills.

• To have the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

• To have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• To have the ability or willingness to travel occasionally across the Yorkshire region for training and team meetings.

As a Store Manager you will manage the day to day running of our Flint Store, leading a team of colleagues to maximise store sales and profits. Working Pattern: As the store is open 7 days a week, the successful post holder will be required to work 5 days out of 7 (total of 35 hours per week) on a rota basis which will include weekend, evening, and bank holiday working.

 Some but not all key responsibilities are:

• Ensuring stock is generated over the door by members of the public and donors sign up to the Gift Aid scheme.
• Ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by Barnardo's is maintained at all times.
• Implement promotions in the Store as directed by Head Office or your Area Business Manager.
• Maintain a high standard of presentation, both in the windows and the interior of the Store.
• Ensure there is adequate stock available on the shop floor, at all times, on all key lines

• Create an organised and pleasant working environment for staff and volunteers.

• Hold the shop keys, ensuring that the shop is secure whenever it is left unattended.

You will be someone with exceptional people skills, a leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering.

We're looking for an inspirational people person to join us as an Assistant Manager and work in some of our shops in East Scotland, providing cover in busy periods or for staff absences. Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join SJA’s Bid Team, managing and producing tender responses across a variety of business areas including Commercial Training, First Aid and Health & Safety Supplies, Events, Urgent & Emergency Care, and other services. The role of the Bid Manager is to support the organisation in achieving revenue targets, business growth and strategic objectives through managing the Bid process and ensuring completion of high-quality tenders within the stipulated timeframes. About the Role
