Recently our members voted to create a new u3a Council to act as a conduit between the national body and the over 1000 independent u3as throughout the UK. The new Council will be the vehicle by which members’ views and priorities will feed into and shape the overall work of the u3a national body.
The Council Officer will support the implementation and running of the new u3a Council and play an integral role in embedding the Council into the existing structures of the Trust. They will work with the CEO and the Council Chair to ensure the Council has the support and resources it requires. The role will bring external ideas into the movement by identifying research, reports and speakers that might help inform its work. The officer will also prepare reports, agendas, minutes and be responsible for the general administration of the council and its working groups.
The role would suit someone with an interest in community engagement and participation or policy and research in these areas. The right candidate will be able to work flexibly across a range of responsibilities and develop and implement ways of working as the Council develops, whilst having the ability to work with and manage a large group of volunteer's wide range of views and opinions.

About the role:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Philanthropy Officer to join our small, ambitious team and help secure the funding that makes our work possible. Our Philanthropy team builds meaningful relationships with supporters—particularly charitable trusts and foundations—to secure a significant proportion of Future Frontiers’ income.
Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build a sustainable pipeline of high-value supporters. You’ll focus on researching new funding opportunities, crafting high-quality funding applications, writing tailored reports, and ensuring excellent donor stewardship.
You’ll bring exceptional writing skills, outstanding attention to detail and a proactive, people-focused approach. You may have fundraising experience, or bring a strong understanding of relationship-building from another sector. You’ll thrive on spotting opportunities, shaping persuasive cases for support and connecting with supporters.
You’ll also be highly organised, keeping accurate records and ensuring our funders feel appreciated and connected to our work. Your responsibilities:
Identify new funding opportunities:
You’ll lead on identifying charitable trusts, foundations and major donors with the potential to support Future Frontiers. Through proactive research and collaboration with other teams, you’ll build and qualify a strong pipeline of prospective funders, matching them with appropriate asks. A key part of the role is ensuring a steady flow of new prospects, with regular research and outreach to grow our portfolio of supporters.
Build and manage a portfolio of supporters:
You’ll develop a strong understanding of existing and prospective supporters, enabling you to provide thoughtful, tailored relationship management. With guidance from the Head of Philanthropy, you’ll help build and maintain relationships with a range of grant-making trusts and foundations, securing donations and delivering proactive stewardship to encourage continued support. You’ll also act as an ambassador for Future Frontiers, creating opportunities for supporters to connect with our work.
Write applications for funding:
You’ll craft high-quality funding proposals that make a persuasive case for how each supporter’s contribution will make a difference for young people facing disadvantage. Every application will be tailored to the funder’s priorities, and your exceptional writing skills and attention to detail will ensure each one is clear, accurate and compelling.
Report on impact:
You’ll demonstrate the difference our supporters make by delivering high-quality reports, updates and case studies that bring our impact to life. You’ll work closely with teams across the organisation to gather the right information and write clear and engaging updates that reflect each funder’s interests and requirements. You’ll manage reporting timelines and ensure our commitments are met, helping to secure future funding and strengthen relationships.
Keep accurate and detailed records:
You’ll make sure all fundraising activity is recorded promptly and accurately, helping us track relationships, deadlines and progress. You’ll support the team’s efficiency by keeping organised records and helping to manage key administrative processes. You’ll also ensure we meet data protection and fundraising regulations, including GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
Contribute to wider organisational priorities:
You’ll be a collaborative team member, supporting cross-team projects and organisation-wide initiatives as needed. From time to time, you may also be asked to take on other duties in line with your role.
About you
Experience and knowledge:
● Experience communicating clearly and effectively in different formats, including long-form writing, emails, presentations and conversations with stakeholders (essential).
● Experience conducting research and presenting findings, such as identifying prospective supporters, gathering information from a range of sources, and summarising insights for different audiences (essential).
● Some understanding of trust and foundation fundraising and how to build relationships that lead to 4- or 5-figure grants (essential).
● Experience contributing to relationships with high-value supporters, or strong transferable skills in relationship or account management (desirable).

About the role:
The Digital Officer is a key member of the Marketing and Digital team. We are a friendly, creative, and supportive team, responsible for raising awareness and growing the brand of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, as well as our website, email, social, direct mail, paid advertising and more. As Digital Officer you'll work closely with Marketing and digital colleagues, as well as fundraising teams across the organisation. You will be a key player in maintaining and improving the charity’s digital presence, focussing on website management and web content, keeping our supporters and audiences at the heart of everything you do.
It is also an exciting time to join our digital team, as this role will begin part way through a redevelopment of our website. The Digital Officer will play a vital part in supporting the wider digital team to QA and deploy the new site, and support the Digital teams efforts to embed new ways of working and processes for the new site and ongoing roadmap.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support day-to-day management and improvement of the website. Includes content updates to ensure information is correct and up-to-date, and editing pages as needed across the site, following digital best practice.
- Support with the blog content calendar and blog content creation. Writing, building, publishing and optimising digital content, then measuring performance using tools like GA4 and Hotjar.
- Embedding and promoting digital best practice. Ensuring new content developed follows digital, SEO and UX best practices and supporting colleagues within the charity to understand and deliver the best digital experience across key campaigns by providing advice, recommendations and feedback.
- Supporting the wider Digital Team in delivering a training programme across the organisation, which will embed our new content creation process and build digital skills across the organisation.
To be successful in your application you'll need:
- Professional experience using CMS (Content Management Systems) and knowledge of website management, on-page and technical SEO and digital best practice. Knowledge of UX is desirable but not essential.
- Experience using data tools, such as Google Analytics for reporting and identifying actionable insights.
- Excellent copywriting, editorial and proofreading skills.
- Experience in writing for the web or digital channels and creating content tailored to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to communicate, work collaboratively and build good working relationships.

About the Role
You will be joining at an exciting time for Ataxia UK as we celebrate our 60th anniversary year.
This brand-new role is an important part of our new strategy to sustainably grow our unrestricted income. Working closely with the Director of Fundraising & Communications and the wider team, the Senior Philanthropy Manager will lead the work to build a pipeline of major donors and family trusts and foundations.

The Senior Brand Manager will play a crucial role in the strategy, planning, development and implementation of brand activity across the charity, leading a Brand team of two Brand Managers and a Brand Officer. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Ensure our public affairs work reflects the needs and aspirations of people living with dementia and identify opportunities to involve our supporters in our political influencing work.
· Work with team to develop and implement Public Affairs products, processes and ways of working to maximise impact and efficiency.
· Ensure the Public Affairs team is delivering timely monitoring and successfully identifying, creating and leveraging parliamentary opportunities and securing influencing opportunities to achieve policy change.
· Ensure appropriate system of tracking engagement is in place and ensure the Public affairs Team are updating it regularly.
· Provide regular updates and advice to the team, senior staff and wider organisation so they are up to date on our advocacy, engagement with key stakeholders and wider changes in the environment.
· Ensure regular evaluation of our engagement and a constructive approach is taken to how we learn and improve.
Influencing
· Work with the Senior Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager to implement and further develop ARUK’s external affairs strategy, working with policy colleagues to ensure an aligned public affairs function that delivers on our influencing goals.
· Work with wider department to devise and deliver influencing plans for priority areas, ensuring PA involvement in strategy development from the outset.
Stakeholder management
· Work across the organisation to develop stakeholder management processes and mechanisms that help us to manage and derive insights from key organisational relationships.
· Play a key role in developing ARUK's influencing stakeholder contact programme and identifying opportunities and strategies to improve engagement.
· Build effective personal relationships with other organisations, political parties, parliamentarians and their offices across both Houses and relevant Government departments.
· Ensure the team are effectively managing relationships and tracking stakeholder information, and key stakeholders are informed of relevant media stories, reports and consultation responses etc.
· Identify opportunities to partner with other organisations in order to maximise our impact as an organisation.
· Deliver expert political insight and sense making to help the team and wider organisation navigate the external environment.
· Represent ARUK at parliamentary and other events and conferences, potentially including national party conferences.
· Co-ordinate and attend meetings with parliamentarians and stakeholders alongside senior staff and to provide briefings for staff.
Management Responsibilities
· Oversee the work of two public affairs officers and contribute to their learning and development.
· Provide guidance, coaching and support to wider team development as required.

This development is key to the success of Alzheimer’s Research UK, and we are looking for a dynamic trainer/facilitator or join the L&D team to cover a period of Maternity leave.
The Learning and Development Trainer/Specialist plays a critical role in designing and delivering a broad range of learning and development programmes and catalogue of courses which support and enable individuals. We deliver a wide range of training from Masterclasses, EDI, Values and Culture, Psychometric profiling and Leadership and Development programmes and this is where you will spend approximately 80% of your time. Most of this training is delivered face to face at our offices in Abington Cambridge.
Responsible for the delivery and evaluation of facilitated classroom-based and virtual learning training, this role will help to create an environment of continuous learning and provide opportunities for individual and team development. This role will work closely with the Learning and Development Co-ordinator and will liaise with training venues, manage bookings, and oversee internal data to evaluate training requirements.
As part of the wider HR Team, the Learning and Development Trainer/Specialist will also work effectively as an integral part to the team by providing input and support into the organisational wide initiatives and projects. In addition, the Learning and Development Trainer/Specialist will proactively contribute to the development of policy, processes and procedures, along with providing comprehensive guidance and support across the charity.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
· Work alongside internal stakeholders to deliver and embed a bespoke Leadership Development Programme, Management Development Programme and various Masterclasses which enables employees to build on their skills, knowledge and capabilities and enhances performance at an individual, team and organisational level.
· Continue to review, evaluate and build upon the L&D programmes offered, identifying and making recommendations to the Head of Learning & Development to ensure the content remains current and aligned to the strategic direction and business needs.
· Provide support in identifying strengths and opportunities to further develop the skills, knowledge and capabilities of individuals and teams. Make recommendations to the Head of Learning & Development which are evidence-based and underpin both the Learning & Development and Organisational strategies.
· Foster and develop an embedded culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Training - Design & Delivery:
· Create and deliver up to date, engaging and professional training content.
· Facilitate and deliver a variety of training programmes to new and existing employees, through face-to-face, hybrid (blended) and virtual learning.
· Create and build resources that support our current learning catalogue.
· Create, build and manage LinkedIn learning content to support all L&D initiatives.
· Research training delivery options and resources including digital / online and hybrid (blended) solutions.
· Present learning solutions, logically and with credibility and authenticity, to gain buy-in from stakeholders.
· Confidently engage with learners of varying abilities, using a broad range of training methodologies and questioning techniques.
· Provide support with a learner’s progress by delivering motivational and developmental feedback.
· Manage participation and ensure learning objectives for each training session is achieved.
· Use effective coaching skills to encourage learners to define their personal development plans and achieve their learning objectives.
Training - Course Administration:
· Work with a variety of internal stakeholders to plan and prepare the implementation of any L&D programmes/courses, including advertising courses and dates, monitoring bookings and taking a proactive approach to increase attendance numbers when they are low.
· Complete evaluation mechanisms for learning outcomes including the use of quantitative and qualitative feedback where appropriate.
· Working closely with the L&D coordinator and Head of L&D to collate and analyse data from L&D programmes, courses and initiatives, producing reports for key stakeholders, when requested.
· Measure and assess all L&D programmes and courses for their effectiveness and business relevance and continually seek ways to improve learning solutions.
· As and when required, provide support to the L&D Co-ordinator with the administration of training courses, including diary management and database management.
What we are looking for:
· Learning & Development qualification or experience of working within a Learning & Development environment.
· Demonstrable experience in delivery and facilitating a wide range of learning and development initiatives at all levels.
· Experience of developing and implementing training programmes/workshops (including designing a variety of learning materials).
· Experience of delivering in-person and virtual training to a variety of stakeholders with different learning styles and levels of understanding.
