Job Overview

• The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women is mid-way through delivering its Ready for Business 2023 - 2026 strategy. We are seeking to dramatically accelerate growth to achieve our target of reaching one million women entrepreneurs by the end of 2030.
• The Finance Director’s role is critical to the strategic and operational financial management of the charity. They will be part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), along with the CEO, COO, Director of External Engagement and Director of Programmes and Impact. 
• The Board and CEO are looking for an experienced and qualified finance professional, with the ability to lead and shape the Foundation’s approach to financial planning and financial management, lead a financial improvement programme, and ensure the Foundation’s on-going financial sustainability.

Job Purpose

• To lead strategic and operational financial planning with responsibility for achieving and executing financial objectives, budgeting, investment opportunities and oversight of annual budget processes, including the annual audit.
• To provide strategic financial insight and be an effective business partner to guide organisational and departmental decision-making.
• To drive excellence and efficiency across Finance, strengthening and embedding the right financial systems and processes, integrated with other processes where relevant to enable the organisation to scale.
• To ensure robust financial control frameworks are embedded within the Organisation and to achieve financial compliance with all requirements from Companies House, Charity Commission, HMRC etc.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Director will lead all finance processes and will have the following responsibilities:

• Working in partnership with the CEO and other members of the SLT to ensure robust and strategic financial management, effective and efficient controls, transaction processing and financial management reporting.
• Provide strategic financial insight and data to inform decision making and financial growth and sustainability of the organisation.
• Provide an excellent finance business partner service to the organisation, to shape and improve financial capability and capacity, improving visibility and rigour around forecasting income and expenditure. 
• Lead and be accountable for reporting to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC).
• Lead on the preparation of statutory accounts, audit and tax requirements of the Foundation including returns to HMRC, Companies House and the Charity Commission.
• Co-ordinate the development and deployment of the annual budget, using zero-based budgeting techniques where relevant; and working with the COO to ensure alignment with yearly Operational Plans.
• Serve as an internal leader of the organisation: provide staff with a strong day-to-day leadership presence, and model a culture of performance, openness and accountability.

Strategic and Operational Financial Planning

•  Lead on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities and policy matters and keep the Board, CEO and SLT informed of all critical issues.
• Lead the development and production of financial management reports for the Board, SLT, budget holders and donors.
• Working closely with the CEO, COO and SLT, manage and mitigate financial risks in line with the Foundation’s risk register and strategic risk assessment.
• Lead on production of the annual statutory accounts, audit and filing of financial statements.
• Lead on treasury management including foreign exchange and cashflow, and maintain banking, payroll, and bookkeeping services.
• Ensure effective relationship management with auditors, and all other financial suppliers, representing the organisation externally, e.g. in banking negotiations.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget and re-forecasting process; working with the COO to align planning and budgeting.
• Provide oversight of funders’ commitments, funding gaps and funding ratios to drive effective decision making.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the Foundation’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organisation.

Financial Insight, Business Partnering & Financial Process Improvements

• Provide strategic financial insight to drive financial performance and effective decision making (e.g. overall financial ratios, programme costing models, RoI, Value for Money etc).
• Consider commercial opportunities to support the diversification of income streams and financial growth.
• Working as an effective business partner with key departments, support and build staff capability and capacity in financial management.
• Ensure the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation run efficiently  and smoothly.
• Assess, streamline and improve financial processes including but not limited to  invoicing and payments, supplier, partner management, cost recovery, expenses management, purchasing and/or procurement processes and the introduction of an internal audit function.
• Lead on system and technology requirements for financial systems in line with the overall technology roadmap.

Financial Control and Compliance

• Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
• Serve as the management liaison to the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARC); effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at Trustee and committee meetings.
• Advise on organisational legal issues; oversee legal contracting and partner due diligence, ensure due diligence on money flows, overseeing compliance with contract and donor reporting. Lead on the implementation and review of the  Foundation’s reserves policy.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria: Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Qualified Accountant with executive level experience within (or with a good understanding of) the charity sector including experience of international payments.

Ability to cover all aspects of the organisation’s strategic and operational financial management needs.

Commercially astute with a good understanding of income generation and investment opportunities.

Ability to provide strategic financial data and insights for decision-making.

Experience working in a Board-facing role highlighting key issues and risks for a Board audience.

Excellent financial technical skills combined with knowledge of financial software including Quickbooks.

Good understanding of, and ability to advise fundraising and externally funded programme portfolio(s).

Proven ability to develop organisational level budgets and plans and the systems to monitor and manage progress against them.

Good business partnering skills; ability to understand Fundraising and Programme departmental needs and build staff’s financial capacity and capability.

Experience of driving improvements in financial processes.

Commitment to excellence with an exceptional work ethic and creating a high performance and accountable organisation.

Ability to negotiate and influence at strategic level with excellent people skills to build strong relationships internally and externally.

Experience of risk management and mitigation, and a good working knowledge of the regulatory environment for UK-registered charities working internationally.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working with statutory and institutional donors and knowledge of donor reporting, compliance, and contract management issues.

The ME Association is dedicated to supporting people affected by ME/ CFS (Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome). We fund biomedical research, campaign for change and provide a wide range of support services to help those with ME/CFS.

As Fundraising Officer, you’ll play a vital role in securing funding to help people with ME/ CFS.  You can make a positive difference to thousands of peoples lives.

We are looking for someone who

• has experience of fundraising ideally in community or challenge event fundraising
• has excellent written and verbal skills – with experience of building strong relationships
• Is an open and friendly person who takes pride in being a positive change in the world
• has excellent project management and time management skills

• has a sound understanding of the principles of fundraising including ethical fundraising and GDPR compliance
• has used Raisers Edge or equivalent fundraising database

You will be responsible for:

• Providing a high standard of stewardship for supporters, nurturing existing supporters, thanking donors, and supporting charity events, such as our supporter reception.
• Developing our charity fundraising appeals
• Developing and promoting the challenge events portfolio.
• Keeping the fundraising pages updated, helping to design and produce fundraising materials (flyers and fundraising packs). 
• You will be working closely with the Fundraising and Development Manager and will be required to support the wider Communications team where needed with additional fundraising activities.

This position is home-based with occasional travel for fundraising events.

Initially a 12 month contract, but with the possibility of becoming a permanent position for the right candidate.

A driving license isn’t essential.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events.

The successful candidate will be IT literate, an excellent communicator, highly organised with a strong attention to detail.

A background in fundraising is required, although this could be from voluntary work.  An understanding of ME/CFS is desirable.

Stewardship

• Monitoring the fundraising inbox, acting as a first point of contact for a wide range of supporters and enquirers.
• Developing individual giving income through enhanced communications, great stewardship and supporting on fundraising appeals.
• Nurturing our regular givers and looking for ways to grow our regular-giving donor base.
• Completing thanking processes efficiently for donations.
• Developing and managing tools and resources to support fundraising events such as sending out t-shirts, posters, flyers, donation boxes and fundraising packs when requested.
• Liaising with the communications team to create promotional materials to advertise events through the website and social media channels to increase engagement.

Administration

• Keeping accurate records of all prospect and supporter interactions on our CRM system, Raisers Edge NXT.
• Optimising fundraising and donation opportunities at key charity events, researching and recording information.
• Supporting the Fundraising and Development Manager as and when needed.
• Working with colleagues across, communications and services teams to ensure a smooth flow of information to support fundraising promotion and engagement.

The Evaluation Team work to enhance a data-driven culture at Frontline, where evidence is at the centre of decision making. At Frontline, evaluation aids learning and improvement of our programmes, to ensure we create social change for vulnerable children and families and demonstrate our impact. 

Evaluation Officers primarily focus on the second phase of our evaluation strategy, practice and implemented learning. They support the Evaluation Manager in the analysis and presentation of data and share findings to internal and external audiences. They will also advocate for and support teams to ensure that data collection, analysis and reporting is of a high quality across the organisation.

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about data and how it can be used to further understand and improve quality and demonstrate impact. We will encourage you to learn and grow in this role and you will have access to training and support to further develop your knowledge and skills.

Some key responsibilities include:

• Support with setting up data collection tools and reporting for new programmes
• Improve insight into our existing programmes through quantitative and qualitative analysis 
• Promote the use of data across the organisation

The successful applicant for this role will be used to working with data, with high-level analytical ability, attention to detail and Microsoft Excel skills. The Evaluation Officer role will suit someone who wants to support others with data and analysis, and so will build excellent relationships, and can be supportive to those who are non-experts.

40% of children from disadvantaged backgrounds leave primary school in England each year unable to read to the expected standard. Many children fall behind with reading simply because they lack the opportunity to practise: Chapter One works to ensure that every child has 1:1 reading support at the time they need it most. We have a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills they need to thrive.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,000 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 140 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

We set ourselves ambitious targets. We want to support 3,900 children by 2025/6 and this Business Development Officer role, with responsibility for building new corporate partnerships, will be crucial to ensuring that we have sufficient volunteers to achieve this target.

The Role

As a news driven, creative and ambitious Senior Media Officer, you will lead on a wide range of media activities including timely statements, ground-breaking research reports, fundraising appeals and events, and key policy and advocacy moments.  
 
You will also work on projects with celebrity ambassadors, corporate partners and staff from across WaterAid's global federation - all in support of WaterAid's mission to change normal for millions of people living without water, decent toilets and good hygiene so they can unlock their potential, break free from poverty and change their lives for good. 
 
You will drive, develop and implement proactive and reactive media strategies, use your warm media contacts and build new contacts to achieve organisational communications objectives, including increasing awareness of the global water and sanitation crisis as well as our work around the world and our policy, fundraising and campaigning activities.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Write audience centric media strategies for advocacy research and reports and campaigns, with political and public stakeholders in mind.  
• Build and ensure effective media relations by establishing and nurturing relationships with key journalists and media outlets, maintaining media lists using relevant media databases.

About You:

Reporting to the Public Engagement Manager, the Public Engagement Officer will work as part of a team to deliver our mission of meaningfully involving patients and the public across Academy activities and in the way we work.

You will collaborate with colleagues across the Academy, our Fellows and our grant awardees to help deliver projects that ensure the Academy connects with patients, carers and members of the public in new and accessible ways. You will organise and evaluate programmes that feed public views into our policy advice and grants and careers programmes. Our current priorities include supporting more diverse communities to take part in conversations about health and research and developing new workstreams on health inequalities and climate change.

You will do this all by building strong relationships with public and patient groups and connecting with individuals to understand and provide the support they need to be involved in our work.

What you will be doing:

• Support the delivery of events, workshops and training to feed public, patient and carer views into our policy, career development and grants programmes.
• Research and scope topics, formats, speakers, audiences and participants for public engagement and involvement activities.
• Assist with data collection, analysis and reporting for programme and event evaluations.
• Develop resources and deliver processes that support participants in Academy engagement and involvement activities - particularly administration for patient payments and arranging individual access and support packages.
• Make connections with people, organisations and communities to broaden participation in Academy public engagement and involvement activities.
• Connect with colleagues across the organisation to encourage and support their participation in engagement and involvement activities and knowledge of best practice.

Your aim will be to support the Museum Director with raising around £500,000 per year from charitable sources.

Person Specification:

• An outstanding fundraiser, with a track record of securing four and five figure donation.
• A fundraising professional, experienced in working within at least one of the main areas of fundraising: membership, individual donors, grant-makers or corporates.

Role Description:

Research and Prospecting - Working alongside the Director, Development Committee and the Board, you will identify and research prospective people, companies and grant-makers that could support Queer Britain.

Pipeline Management - Using our CRM system, you will maintain our pipeline, ensuring records are up to date and accurate.

Cultivation - Using the full resources of Queer Britain, you will create cultivation plans that may include informal meetings, tours of the museum, meetings with key Museum staff, workshop visits and private dinners

Dialogue Earth is an independent non-profit dedicated to producing exceptional environmental journalism and informed conversations on urgent climate and sustainability topics. Our unique model brings local voices to global audiences and global stories of hope, action and change to local communities.

Summary of role purpose

Senior fundraising and development role at a pioneering, mid-sized climate-change journalism non-profit with a seven-figure budget. Overall responsibility for developing, securing and managing a trusts and foundations pipeline – during an important organisational inflection point -- to help grow a sustainable, financially substantial and long-term income stream for our programmes, core and new activities. Working strategically with senior leadership and staff to maximise existing income sources and identify and evaluate new sources of income, including those beyond philanthropic donations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

· Research and recommend funding opportunities for current and planned programmes at a dynamic, climate-change charity with a strong track record, team, and culture. Manage and organise initial enquiries, funding applications, follow-ups, and learnings from feedback.

· Draft clear and compellingly written fundraising materials, including cases for support, funding proposals and concept notes.

· Manage / support relationships with funders, including timely appropriate tailored funder reports and other communications.

· Oversee the preparation of bespoke, accurate and clear grant reports, rooted in our measurement, evaluation and learning strategy, along with other fundraising materials 

· Work strategically with the senior management team (SMT) to develop plans to maximise income to achieve annual fundraising targets and, together with the editorial and leadership teams, meet with funders and donors to understand their interests, priorities and present proposals.

· Chair bi-weekly meeting with the SMT to present opportunities and actions and agree on priorities and approaches to donors.

· Collaborate with colleagues, especially in the editorial and operations teams, to gather information on project needs, aims and deliverables; ensure that what is presented to funders is aligned with the delivery side of the organisation.

· Oversee the management of the grants database and ensure it is regularly checked and updated and that leads are followed up.

· Manage internal fundraising processes.

· Build and maintain positive relationships, both with internal stakeholders and funders.

· Assist in relationship and account management for non-philanthropic income streams.

· Assist in delivering events to update existing and attract new funders ensuring appropriate follow-up.

· Assist in crafting presentations to funders, working with broader team to develop film / materials.

Working Hours

32 hours, 9-6. We offer a four-day working week, with full time pay.

Hybrid working

We work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.  Attendance is mandatory on Tuesdays; staff can choose which other days they attend.

This role sits within the Community Education and Training team, working to support our learners to access, complete and progress through our wide range of adult learning provision. The main focus will be on providing additional support for learners who need wrap-around support relating to a range of additional personal and educational needs. This could include welfare, personal and family support and wider mental health and wellbeing support or additional learning needs such as dyslexia, ADHD, literacy support and other needs.

You will work with the team to implement strategies and support plans for individuals to aid learning and enhance educational experience. You will support the team’s administrator to monitor learner’s attendance, contacting them via phone, email or arranging a meeting in person where pastoral support is needed.

You will work with our Adult Safeguarding Lead to support safeguarding cases across our departments, including keeping safeguarding records, making referrals and building a database of local support services available to learners and other service users.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting learners to ensure they have the best opportunity to thrive on their learning journey.

You will also support wider functions in the team such as contributing to the organisation of our termly learners’ forum to celebrate achievement and attending events in the community to publicise our work.
