Ealing and Hounslow Community Voluntary Service (EHCVS) is a registered local charity with over 30 years of experience supporting voluntary and community sector (VCS) groups in Ealing and, since 2012, in Hounslow. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for less advantaged individuals by empowering local charities and volunteer organisations.
In this rapidly changing world where our sector continues to face many challenges and take on new opportunities, it is highly appropriate that Ealing CVS undertake reviewing and planning for the next three years. Consulting with our stakeholders has been a refreshing process. Ealing CVS is a second-tier organisation that works with local charities and voluntary organisations in Ealing and Hounslow. The Freelance Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication and marketing strategies that enhance the visibility and impact of Ealing and Hounslow CVS. This role will support our mission by effectively promoting our services, programs, and events to a broad audience, including local communities, stakeholders, and potential funders.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Communication Strategy:**
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy to raise awareness of EHCVS’s work.
- Create compelling content for various platforms, including newsletters, press releases, websites, social media, and other marketing materials.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
**Marketing Campaigns:**
- Plan and implement targeted marketing campaigns to promote EHCVS’s programs, services, and events.
- Use digital marketing techniques to reach a broader audience, including SEO, email, and social media advertising.
- Analyse the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.
**Content Creation and Management:**
- Write and edit content for newsletters, blogs, reports, and promotional materials.
- Manage and update EHCVS’s website and social media accounts with engaging and relevant content.
- Coordinate with team members to gather information and stories that highlight EHCVS’s impact.

Fine Cell Work (FCW) is a charity and creative social enterprise committed to the rehabilitation of people in prison, and post-release. Our innovative Open The Gate (OTG) programme at our Battersea Hub offers work experience, volunteering opportunities, accredited training, mentoring, and signposting support to participants at any point on their resettlement journey, and we are looking for an ambitious and dynamic Engagement and Support Officer (ESO) to join our team.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by people in contact with the criminal justice system and will work proactively to establish meaningful and sustainable cross-referral pathways with external agencies. They will nurture an aspirational, inclusive, creative, and safe working environment; use their knowledge, insights, and expertise to support tangible outcomes for all OTG participants; and develop the wider programme offer in line with our organisational objectives.
The role
As well as offering person-centred support and helping to shape our post-release programmes, you would be responsible for:

Nurturing an aspirational working environment where participants/Apprentices are inspired to achieve their potential.

Working to build and maintain referral partnerships with external agencies [including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and community-based organisations supporting prison-leavers] to increase participant numbers and sustained engagement with Open the Gate.

Coordinating referrals and assisting with the development of risk management plans, including information gathering, and dissemination.

Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.

Action-planning and goal setting with all Apprentices, in consultation with the Workshop Manager, supporting them to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.

Providing day to day practical, pastoral, and sign-posting support to a caseload of Open the Gate participants, or Apprentices, and providing ad-hoc support to graduate Apprentices when required.

Working with the wider team at FCW to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.

Supporting small grant application processes on behalf of OTG Apprentices.

Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with FCW policy and procedure.

Providing remote support via telephone and online to FCW experienced prison-leavers who are not regularly attending the Hub.

Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with the delivery of the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.

Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and delivering training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting OTG Apprentices.

Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the OTG Mentor Offer including as the first point of contact for Mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions.
The person

- Up to date knowledge of housing support, the benefits system, barriers to employment and other challenges facing people post-release.
- Experience of IT systems including Salesforce or other database management platform.
- Experience of working alongside volunteers.
- A willingness to seek support when needed and an interest in pursuing professional development opportunities.
- An interest in, or appreciation of, the value of creative education.
This role is full time and based in our offices in Battersea, South London. Whilst we offer a supportive and flexible working environment, the successful candidate will need to be in the office full time (with occasional working from home)

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with Sustrans as part of the Delivery team.
As the Active Travel Project Officer, you will support six schools in Derby to increase the number of pupils travelling actively to school by walking cycling or wheeling. You will deliver a programme of activities, both educational and physical, providing the pupils and the schools with the skills to increase activity.
You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as Local community leaders, as well as Senior Leadership teams with the schools, parents and pupils
This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

Work Pattern: This role is being offered at a minimum of 14 hours (2 days) per week and a maximum of 21 hours (3 days) per week, to be worked during office hours Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm.
Location: Hybrid, St Philip’s, Bristol City. Working from home is available for this role. On-site working will be required at our animal rescue centre, we request a minimum office attendance of one day per week for the first three months of employment. Following this, a minimum of one day a month office attendance will be required, with flexibility to work on-site if charity business requires it.

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous experience of making successful applications to trusts, foundations and other grant making organisations for a charity. The responsibilities include researching potential funding sources, writing compelling grant proposals and maintaining relationships with funders to support the charity’s mission in helping, healing and homing Bristol’s vulnerable animals.
You will work closely with colleagues across the charity, learning about the different services we provide to both animals and pet owners and shaping projects for funding from your findings.
In particular you will:
- Research, identify and prioritise applications to trusts and foundations for which Bristol A.R.C. meets the funding criteria.
- Analyse the trusts and foundations landscape to enable the charity to fully understand the scope for potential funding
- Work with colleagues across the charity to create strong cases for support and shape projects for funding across all areas of our work. Ensure that we are maximising our trust and foundation funding potential by highlighting the lesser-known areas of our work and wide range of beneficiaries (animals and human).
- Write and submit high quality, targeted funding applications, including multi-year funding requests where appropriate.
- Maintain the trusts and foundations prospect and funder records on our fundraising database.
- Work with the Finance Department to ensure trusts and foundation income is administered correctly.
About you:
You will have a creative approach to your work, ensuring that we are maximising our funding potential by highlighting the lesser-known areas of our work and our wide range of beneficiaries both animal and human.
You will take a strategic approach, prioritising your workload to ensure you are balancing your time between researching potential funders, making high quality, targeted funding applications and stewarding organisations who have already supported our work.
What we are looking for in you:
- Proven experience and success in developing and drafting proposals and/or reports raising funds from trusts, foundations and other grant making organisations.
- Experience of research techniques applicable to identifying funding opportunities and framing funding bids.
- Able to convey complex information accurately, succinctly and engagingly.

Job Context
YMCA England & Wales is the national body of the YMCA in England & Wales, supporting, developing and representing just over 100 local YMCA’s, ranging from small community based organisations to nationally relevant specialists.
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to ensure that YMCA has influence with key decision makers through its campaigns and policy positions. The post holder will support YMCAs policy function through ensuring we have a range of public affairs activities to engage and build relationships with Government, Parliament, Civil Servants, other tiers of government and relevant organisations. The post holder will also provide a full range of public affairs advice and support to the YMCA Federation.
Scope and Limits of Authority:
The Senior Public Affairs Officer will report into the Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager. The post will have no formal budgetary or line management responsibilities other than ad hoc volunteers and interns.
The post holder must operate at all times in accordance with the approved policies and procedures of YMCA England & Wales and act in accordance with the values and ethos of the organisation as outlined in the Code of Conduct. In addition, all employees must adhere to the performance management processes and systems approved by the Board of Trustees.
The post holder will support the Safeguarding, health and well-being and safety of staff, volunteers and supporters we work with, some of whom may be classed as vulnerable people or adults at risk. In the event of a risk becoming apparent or if concerns arise about a vulnerable person’s welfare, to immediately report these concerns in line with the appropriate policy and procedure.
The responsibilities of this role will normally include all duties described in this Job Description and any additional or different duties, which the Employer may require from time to time.

THE ROLE
The Tree Equity Officer will lead on our vision that by 2030 we would like to see the added protection of existing trees and en route to 1 million more trees established in Scotland’s urban areas that currently have a low Tree Equity Score (TES). They will be responsible for establishing and developing partnerships with others to deliver exemplar projects across Scotland that demonstrate and communicate benefits of improving TES. The Tree Equity Officer will Advocate to embed use of TES in Local Area Plans/LA strategy of city authorities and encourage city authorities to raise funding for improving TES in their cities.
As part of the Scotland Team, they will be responsible for working together collaboratively with other colleagues across the Trust to develop and oversee the delivery of a Tree Equity strategy. They will work with policy and advocacy colleagues to influence local and national government and others to embed Tree Equity as a tool to inform and direct urban forestry and green space delivery and preferably embed within policy.
This is a Hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from one of our Regional Offices based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible, and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.
THE CANDIDATE
You will have excellent knowledge, experience and passion for urban forestry and/or urban green infrastructure. You will also have experience and understanding of the operation of local government and planning. You’ll be able to inspire and influence others to promote and embed Tree Equity delivery.
A key part of this roles requires programme and project management skills and experience in developing strategies and plans to deliver outcomes, particularly in urban greenspace.
You will have the ability to collaborate with other teams and colleagues to develop and lead the delivery of a Tree Equity strategy to ensure woods and trees are valued and recognised in key policies and decisions at a national level. You’ll have great research and analytical skills being able to communicate and tailor complex information to different audiences, building positive relationships internally and externally using your skills to influence stakeholders.

The post holder will lead on the Foundation’s research communications activities, working closely with the Comms and Digital Lead to execute a research communications strategy. This will ensure that our supporters are kept informed on the latest research developments and enable us to demonstrate the impact of our research.
The post-holder will also support the delivery of our annual grant schemes, as well as helping to manage our portfolio of funded projects. This will involve close working with our Research Programme Managers and include administering, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the performance of awards, ensuring the outputs are of the highest quality and supporting the charities activities.
The post-holder will have an important role to play in our busy and small-knit research team. They will be exposed to all aspects of grant management and use their communication skills to effectively share more information about the research we fund with our key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Research Communications

Work closely with the Communications and Digital Manager to oversee our research communications strategy and programme of activity;

Lead on the development of all external research communications activities to communicate the impact of our research and ensure our supporters are kept up to date with the latest developments. This includes developing news stories, blogs, newsletter content, infographics, research webinar series and our annual research impact report;

Liaise with our funded researchers to secure pictures and other content (e.g. video) for use on socials including making site visits to labs across the UK;

Liaise with our communications team and PR agency to take advantage of any press opportunities that arise for our research communications, supporting the development of position statements and press releases.
Research Funding Administration

Support the Research Programme Managers by ensuring our research grant rounds are effectively administered in line with Association of Medical Research Charity (AMRC) policy, including coordinating comprehensive internal and external peer review, supporting research review committees, drafting feedback for applicants, managing the contracting and financial monitoring of awards;

Assist the Research Programme Managers in managing the research programme budget including planning, monitoring and forecasting;

Support the ongoing development and implementation of our online grant management system, Flexi-Grant;

Track and assess progress of funded awards, building and managing relationships with award holders and maintaining regular communication through the project life cycle;

Assist the Research Programme Managers in preparing reports and correspondence for the Board of Trustees related to funded awards.
General Responsibilities

Contribute to the team being proactive and supportive, and working effectively and efficiently to achieve agreed objectives;

In this role you will deliver and grow the legacy fundraising and in-memory giving programmes through managing legacy and in-memory campaigns and providing exceptional stewardship to supporters to build long term engagement and support.
Your key responsibilities will include;
- Developing and implementing the legacy fundraising strategy, focusing on raising awareness of gifts in wills and growing the number of people who remember the hospice in their Will.
- Developing and implementing the in-memory giving strategy, focusing on providing excellent stewardship to bereaved families, developing appropriate campaigns, products and events.
- Collecting personal stories and quotes from donors to develop case studies to be used in fundraising materials
- Managing the legacy fundraising budget, ensuring all activities are delivered to budget and meet agreed objectives
- Managing relationships with external suppliers and providers such as Funeral Directors, MuchLoved, Will writing partners
This position would ideally suit a candidate who;
- Has experience in delivering legacy and/or in-memory fundraising campaigns
