Romsey Mill is looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic Trusts and Statutory Fundraiser to join our team and play their part in helping to make our vision of a transformed society, where all young people, children and families fully belong, positively contribute and thrive, a reality.

Romsey Mill is a Cambridge-based charitable organisation creating opportunities with young people, families and local communities, across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to overcome disadvantage, promote inclusion and develop personal, social and spiritual wellbeing. Established in 1980 by local churches and working in partnership with a range of other organisations, Romsey Mill is a charity with a Christian ethos, working openly and inclusively with people of any faith and none.

We want to appoint a fundraiser who will work alongside the team to help secure and grow income; and who will be responsible for researching and writing funding applications to charitable trusts and statutory bodies to fund our programmed work to transform young lives,  and preparing outcome and impact reports for funders.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraiser, or somebody with strong transferable skills, to make an impact with a creative and compassionate local charity making a lasting difference for good with vulnerable young people, children and families in Cambridgeshire.

To be successful in the role you will have an understanding of what is involved in securing grants from Trusts and Charitable Foundations and proven experience of making compelling cases for support.

Rehab Assistant

35 hours per week

£12.50 per hour

3% contributory pension

25 days holiday pro rata per annum in addition to public holidays.

The post-holder will be based at Headway Surrey’s centre, at Headway House, 21 North Road, Guildford, GU2 9PU.  Occasional remote working may be offered either permanently or ad hoc with Services Coordinator’s prior agreement. 

3 months probation

On the job training will be provided at all times to help develop your skills and knowledge. 

After successful completion of probation, the post holder will be required to undertake a self-study Brain Tree Training Course, called Cognitive Rehabilitation for Professionals which will be paid for by Headway Surrey.  Assignments, exercises, and self-tests are included throughout the coursework—some of which are mailed or emailed to a course tutor for feedback.  Headway Surrey will provide 2 hours a week paid study time.  The course should be completed within 6-12 weeks.

Training on Headway Surrey’s CRM database, Charitylog will be given.

A clean driving licence must be held. Car mileage allowance for travel to meetings in connection with work

JOB PURPOSE:

The main purpose of the role is to:

• Carry out tasks allocated by the Services Manager;
• assist the Rehab Coordinators with a range of administration tasks and session support.
• support clients during workshops and with other admin tasks.

A Rehab Assistant will play a key role in achieving Headway Surrey’s objectives by supporting the Rehab Team to achieve our vision and mission:

Vision - To be known as the go to place for acquired brain injury in Surrey.  Supporting people in Surrey from all circumstances with traumatic and acquired brain injury, their carers, and families, are supported to improve their quality of life by optimising recovery and maximising independence.

Mission – Headway Surrey supports people with head injuries, their families, and carers, and promotes understanding of the implications of head injury throughout Surrey.

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The key areas of responsibility include:

To support Centre Day Workshops which run on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-2.30pm.  Under the direction of a Rehab Coordinator and with the assistance of volunteers:

• Prepare worksheets for clients.
• Support clients to complete worksheets.
• Help to present sessions.
• Stimulate conversation and managing correct behaviour in a classroom environment.
• Oversee other sessions throughout the day, which may include art, boardgames, discussions, brain injury education workshops etc.

To attend team meetings as required, either in-person or zoom.

To provide administration support to enable new enquiries (clients and carers) to access Headway Surrey’s rehab services. Undertaking assessments after training has been completed.

To record accurately all details on CRM (CharityLog), eg. documents, medical evidence, client contract forms, GDPR consents, details of phone calls, emails etc. 

To support clients to complete Brain Injury ID Card application forms, issued by Headway UK. 

To support clients by liaising with adult social care or Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) and signposting where appropriate.

As part of the team, you are required to clean and tidy the centre, as necessary.

INITIALLY

To undertake an induction program given by the Services Manager and other members of staff.  Observation of sessions, training on CRM, telephone system and other processes/systems.

OTHER TASKS

As a small organisation we plan carefully, but sometimes, medical and unplanned absences may present themselves.  We may need you to cover / help the team.  Training will be given, so that you are prepared for these eventualities.

To provide occasional support in the wider administration duties of the organisation as directed by the Service's Manager.

We set up and manage inexpensive grant-giving funds for families, individuals, companies, national funders and the public sector, and we revitalise historic grant-giving trusts that have become dormant or onerous. We specialise in giving grants to vital local charitable groups that help keep our area thriving. We have given over £1m in grants every year for the last few years.

Overview of the Role

The Grants Officer will work the one other Grants Officershare the workload of managing the grant-giving of donors and funders to achieve their giving aims, and help support local charitable groups meet the needs of the communities they serve.  We currently manage around 50 grant-giving funds, most named and directed by different families, individuals, companies, and public sector bodies e.g. the NHS. We have well-established grant giving processes. We plan to keep increasing our impact on and support of local communities.

We have mandatory Monday team meetings in person, and then work at home or our small offices as preferred, with external meetings as required. You’ll have access to the national network of Community Foundations

We are a place-based funder.  A consistent presence in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and access to personal transport, are important.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1)  Grant Giving Processes

1. Help manage our Making Local Life Better Fund, which combines a number of donor funds who wish to give responsively, and which is open to groups to apply for any (charitable) support, at least three times a year.

1. Help manage intermittent standalone funds of over £50k, within agreed timescales, for donors and funders who wish to make a specific impact.

c. Most donor funds work in one or other of these two ways, but there are some who work differently to make their grants, and you will help manage these

This work includes some or all of the following:

i. Direct contact with some donors and/or funders

ii. writing fund criteria based on donor/funder aims in ways that applicants can easily understand

iii. promoting funds on the website, networks, funding fairs, etc

iv. offering basic support where groups need help with applying

v. reading and assessing grant applications thoroughly, against the criteria of the fund, for governance and legal requirements, viability impact etc, asking questions if necessary

vi. writing brief accurate summaries of applications that donors and funders understand, and that can also be used in reports.

vii. setting up and supporting decision-making panels in person or online

viii. ensuring grant offers/agreements/payments are made

ix. arranging interim visits to groups if needed

x. in some cases, setting up and managing formal monitoring

xi. creating reports as required for Board and other audiences

xii. some line management in terms of briefing and supporting freelance or administrative staff who help our grant giving

2) Strategic and Stakeholder Work; Local Intelligence

a. Maintain and develop our knowledge of and reach to local charitable groups, via visits, workshops, briefings and other methods

b. Ongoing streamlining of systems, balancing safeguarding (of money and people) and maximising impact

c. Develop our Advisory Group, and pool of assessors and panellists

d. Develop/maintain relationships with external stakeholders e.g. councils, external working groups, infrastructure groups, other funders, 360 Giving, the Community Foundation network

e. Start to contribute to our local needs analysis, and impact measurement, for understanding of how our grants create change for the better

3)  Administration and Teamwork

1. Manage our grant giving and your own administrative needs by maximising our CRM system (a version of Salesforce), and Microsoft Office tools

2. Work with the constraints and opportunities of a small charity 

3. Help maintain the Community Foundation’s good reputation, offering equitable access and timely communications

Skills and Background Needed

1) Considerable experience of grant-giving (particularly between £1000 and £10,00000) in the local charitable and voluntary sector, or related sector

2) Strong organisational and administration skills: you will use Microsoft Office applications and our bespoke Salesforce database daily

3) Excellent “people” skills; you need to be very organised, but this is not a purely an administrative role; communication and teamwork are needed to work with all staff in the small team, as well as with donors, funders, trustees, and other stakeholders

4) A strong understanding of inclusion, equity and diversity, and the ability to work effectively with people from a range of backgrounds, proactively seeking to include eligible groups from all areas in the city and county

5) Skills in writing and summarising information

6) Ability to manage workloads constructively

7) Ability to research relevant information and keep up with key developments

8) Ability to learn internal and external policies and processes, in line with GDPR, Charity Law, and our own rigorous Quality Accreditation process

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment.

We are recruiting for an Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Employment Specialist in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in mental health, and the role it plays in the workplace. The successful candidate will need to become comfortable in approaching employers, persuading them to use our service, working with them to recruit our clients to fill vacancies and sustain employment.

We are a Centre of Excellence and adhere closely to the principles of the IPS model in supporting people in to employment. No prior experience in IPS is required. The role we are recruiting for is as follows: 

One Full Time: 35 hours per week - this roles will be based onsite/in the community 4 days per week and work from home 1 day.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment. You will work as part of a mental health team (NHS Trust) maintaining positive and integrated relationships, fostering a holistic approach to recovery through employment. You will work closely with clinical teams, providing a coordinated approach that always remains client led.  You will also be working to targets whilst maintaining a high-quality service.

The Role

As our Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will build and sustain our major gifts programme, driving our income stream and ensuring our work can continue.

The Role 
 
As our Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will identify and approach businesses that wish to support a Yorkshire charity and contribute to the advancement of worldwide research to find cures for cancer. You will build strong, ongoing partnerships with businesses and their employees based upon a mutual desire to help each other meet goals and objectives 

Supporting the Head of Fundraising, you will develop Yorkshire Cancer Research’s portfolio of business partnerships and deliver exceptional levels of tailored engagement and stewardship.   

Specifically, you will: 

• Build an in-depth knowledge and understanding of businesses motivations and requirements of a charity partner. Translate these insights into compelling and attractive offers for potential charity partners.

• Work with colleagues across the charity (e.g. in the marketing and the events teams) to create offers that can be clearly and convincingly presented to businesses (e.g. Corporate Social Responsibility fulfilment, charity of the year, employee talks about cancer, team-building fundraising events, support for cancer awareness months and payroll giving). 

• Oversee the delivery of events and campaigns, ensuring the needs and expectations of businesses are properly understood by internal stakeholders and can be achieved. 

• Research Yorkshire businesses to identify those (target organisations) that share the charity’s values and ethos, then approach these organisations to develop a pipeline of partners with the potential to form lasting, mutually beneficial relationships. 

• Meet with leaders of target organisations to listen to what they require of a charity partner and establish whether Yorkshire Cancer Research can fulfil their needs.  

• Develop high quality proposals and plans to support business partners with activities that will appeal to them based upon their needs and specify the support Yorkshire Cancer Research expects so that the partnership will prove mutually beneficial. 

About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, or 
  proven experience working in a similar role at a similar level. 

• To have experience of relationship-building, preferably with senior business leaders. 

• To have experience of planned and delivered activities and events for third parties. 

• To have experience of working collaboratively and effectively in a matrix-management organisation. 

• To have experience of listening to customers to understand their pain points and needs and developing manageable and profitable solutions to address their needs. 

• To have experience of working with databases and CRM platforms (e.g. Access or Raiser’s Edge). 

• To have excellent customer service delivery. 

• To have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and ongoing partnerships.

About the role:

As a Supporter Care Lead, you will be the primary contact for all fundraising supporter enquiries, ensuring every interaction is handled with empathy, care, and attention to detail.
