The role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the delivery of River Holme Connections’ (RHC) strategy and operations. They will be responsible for all the operational activities and financial management. They will work closely with the Chair and Trustees to ensure the smooth and efficient management of RHC, to lead an innovative, respected and financially sustainable organisation. The CEO will also be the principal external ‘face’ of RHC and is expected to play a leading role in strengthening relationships with partners, supporters and other organisations.

About you

We are looking for an inspiring and dynamic individual with a passion for nature conservation, our river ecosystems and wildlife within the wider landscape and who also has knowledge and appreciation of the charity sector and its ethos. They will have a proven track record of strategic leadership and delivery of complex programmes of work and have the confidence to represent RHC externally at the highest levels. The successful candidate will build on our solid foundations of a successful and highly respected local charity, shaping the path for RHC in the face of modern day and future challenges in both the natural and economic world. They will be supported by a highly functioning and knowledgeable Board of Trustees and will lead a team of skilled and dedicated staff and volunteers.

Overview

JOB TITLE: Programmes Officer 

LOCATION: Home-based with bi-monthly team meetings in London. Some travel within the UK will be expected. 

SALARY: £26,471- £28,683 (depending on skills and experience)

Main duties

Programme Support 

• Provide support across Causeway's broad portfolio of programmes, such as online mentoring, insight days, work experience weeks and university and employer outreach schemes

• Organise programme-related events, such as workshops/webinars 

• Deliver workshops to students and stakeholders, alongside other members of the Programmes Team 

• Look after our shared inboxes and share queries with relevant team members 

• Support the collection of information as part of programme reporting requirements

• Support in the design and creation of new programme resources

• Support other team members with management of external communications including the Causeway website, Twitter account and newsletters 

• Develop and implement strategies to promote student engagement with Causeway’s programmes (for example, student 1-1 calls and emails) 

General 

• Provide administrative support to other members of the organisation as required

• Liaise effectively and efficiently with other members in the organisation

• Lead by example, promoting the organisation’s values and expected behaviour 

• Undertake any other duties required by the CEO or the needs of the organisation

What's this role about?

This exciting position is responsible for delivering our fundraising programme to the public, with support from our Deputy Head of Fundraising.

You will focus on delivering key fundraising activities and an exceptional experience to a wide range of supporters, ensuring that you deepen relationships and maximise value. To fulfil this role, we believe you will need the following skills and experiences:

• Strong copywriting skills with experience targeting various audiences, channels, and activities.

Role and Job description

Job title: Communications Officer

Responsible to: Fundraising Manager

Location: Flexible – home based with regular time at HTV’s base in Henley/across Thames Valley to cover events (some evening/weekend work may be required)  

Hours: 12 hours per week

Salary: £26,600 pro rata

Contract: Permanent

This is a role within the charity with the purpose of developing our digital communications to increase awareness of our vital work with people with brain injuries and to grow our supporter/ donor base to help fund this work.

Main purpose of this role:

The focus of this new role will be on digital fundraising and communications initiatives and raising the profile of the charity across the Thames Valley. An important aspect of the role will be to contribute to the delivery of the digital fundraising strategy to diversify our income streams, creating regular online giving, increasing the donor base in a way that is long term and sustainable. The post holder will organise an agreed portfolio of events and campaigns – with a specific focus on digital initiatives and virtual events – to generate income and build more awareness which will enable Headway Thames Valley to support more people affected by brain injuries. The role will also help to develop consistent messaging to be used across the wider charity to raise awareness of our vital work and communicate our need for donations. 

Key relationships:

Headway Thames Valley General Manager and staff team, Fundraising Manager, clients, families/ carers, Trustees, volunteers, supporters, donors, local community and other stakeholders.

Principal tasks and accountabilities:

Organising Campaigns and Events

Devise engaging digital awareness raising campaigns to appeal to wide range of new and existing supporters.

Create content showcasing all Headway Thames Valley services.

Plan, deliver and manage fundraising events & campaigns, both online/ virtual and offline – to generate funds and raise awareness of Headway Thames Valley’s work.

Create compelling cases for support for use on digital platforms.

Draft and manage e-newsletters and email communications to individual supporters.

Ensure consistent communications messaging across all platforms for all stakeholders.

Co-ordinate the production of fundraising and other information materials.

Identify opportunities to market new and existing events outside the existing supporter base, for instance, social media and local media.

Manage virtual fundraising events and projects within timeframe and budget.

Develop good working relationships for Headway Thames Valley with relevant event promotion companies and other suppliers.

Development and Stewardship of supporters

Motivate supporters in their efforts to raise funds for Headway Thames Valley.

Attract new supporters and new audiences to engage with existing and new fundraising initiatives.

Assist supporters by providing suitable materials tailor made to their needs.

Maintain contact and do everything possible to ensure their experience is positive and that we retain them as supporters and for future events.

Be alert to potential clashes of interest or ethos which might be of a sensitive nature to Headway Thames Valley.

Planning

Investigate and implement new opportunities for digital fundraising initiatives.

Prioritise activities to maximise opportunities.

Contribute to the long term development plans as part of the wider team.

Maintain a diary of events and action points ensuring that others can see progress on any one event at any time.

Ensure that all fundraising for events complies with charity law, by asking for support from the wider team appropriately.

The role 

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a small but highly effective charity Fundraising and Partnerships team, generating income to deliver initiatives that will make a real impact on the lives of vulnerable energy consumers?

We have experienced an exponential growth in income from public fundraising leading to an increased awareness of fuel poverty. To build on this success and maintain increased unrestricted income from a wider fundraising mix, we are recruiting a Fundraising Officer to join our knowledgeable and caring team. 

The new Fundraising officer will join a small, friendly, but hardworking team who raise funds from a variety of sources including trust and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, events and community fundraisers and individual giving.

What you will need to succeed 

You will have a strong knowledge of fundraising and income generation, and you will play a major part in significantly increasing income growth. Reporting into the Fundraising Manager, you will be a motivated and talented Fundraising Officer who will help us grow our unrestricted income and expand our pool of donors.

You will be required to lead your own portfolio of work, researching and identifying potential new funders, submitting applications and pitching for partnerships and support, as well as building strong relationships with donors.

You should have demonstrable experience of working in a Fundraising role, with the ability to cover the whole spectrum of fundraising duties, thinking strategically and working operationally. 

Your base location is negotiable, but you will be expected to travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland with overnight stays as required.

Hybrid and home working is subject to necessary H&S and GDPR checks. Post holders must be resident within the UK and be able to provide their Right to Work in the UK. Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be subject to a Basic DBS check.  

We are offering:  

• £29,778 to £34,546 per annum (Scale 6 - SO1, Points 18 – 25) plus London weighting of £3,300 if applicable. New appointments will usually begin at the starting point of the scale.  

• 11½% non-contributory pension.

Shine Cancer Support is a small but impactful national charity. We want every adult in their 20s, 30s and 40s diagnosed with cancer to know they’re not alone, and to have the support, knowledge, and confidence to navigate whatever cancer throws their way.

Main purpose of the role

This is a key role supporting the delivery of the online and in-person programmes that we run at Shine Cancer Support. Our programmes are a vital means of support for the Shine community, enabling younger adults to cope with cancer, no matter the type or stage of cancer.

As a Programme Officer, you will play an important role in working with the Programme Delivery Manager to ensure that the content of the programmes meets the needs of our service users, and that they are delivered in a way which empowers younger adults and builds Shine’s community across the UK. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme delivery:

• In collaboration with other team members, facilitating a range of Shine programmes, both online and in-person. This will include Shine’s current programmes: Break Out and Shine Circles, as well as in-person programmes such as Shine Shake Ups. Training and supervision will be provided for both. Travel may be required to cities across the UK to facilitate programme delivery.

• Facilitating regular online ‘meet ups’ for Shine service users from across the country.

2. Programme administration:

• Managing programme applications from application to enrolment on the programme.

• Conducting pre-programme discussions with applicants, ensuring they know what to expect from the programmes, answering questions they may have, and keeping relevant, confidential notes.

• Sharing upcoming programmes with other charity contacts and/or healthcare professionals.

• Working with other members of the Shine team to oversee programme-related administration

• Assist in maintaining databases of confidential participant data.

• Responding to enquiries from programme participants throughout the course of the programmes and beyond.

Evaluation and Reporting:

Person Specification

As a Governance Officer, you will provide high quality governance and operational support to the senior executive and Board and Committees as well as other stakeholders both across the Fund and externally.This opportunity is a 12 month fixed term contract.

The successful candidate will join our core Governance team of five, reporting to the Head of Governance and working closely with another officer and two senior officers. A team player you will take pride in your work and the work of the Governance team. 

Ideal candidates will have a good understanding of governance in the public or voluntary/charity sector and be able to quickly familiarise themselves with the Fund’s complex governance framework. 

You will be expected to use your judgement and knowledge to provide prompt and high-quality support, advice and feedback. 

You will also be confident in identifying, implementing, and maintaining governance processes and best practice, suggesting changes where needed. 

You will be able to develop and maintain a complex schedule of Fund-wide corporate meetings and providing seamless support to the senior leadership of the Fund.

Responsibilities:

• You will work strategically, scheduling meetings throughout the year, and managing complex diaries to ensure availability and smooth coordination.
• You will attend various meetings, taking accurate and comprehensive minutes, and ensure that all key decisions and actions are documented and communicated promptly.
