Our partner, an impactful international charity, seeks a Finance & Admin Officer to undertake a range of accounting and administrative responsibilities to support the smooth running of the organisation, as they seek to grow. Responsibilities
- Responsible for day to day accounting, including posting transactions and undertaking reconciliations, making supplier payments and managing staff and company expenses.
- Issue payslips, and ensure that timesheets are completed in accordance with organisational and donor funding requirements.
- Assist in grants financial management, including in reviewing expenses and the preparation of donor reports.
- Assist in office administrative matters, including assisting with logistics/events planning, office supplies, premises and supplier management, and maintaining the fixed asset register.
Requirements
- Accounting professional, studying towards an accounting qualification, with at least three years of experience working in an accounting role within the not for profit sector.
- Astute, able to manage a varied workload, with a strong attention to detail.
- Competent IT user, with experience in Excel and Sage.
- Good communication skills and relationship management skills, both verbal and written.
- Interest in international development and human rights

About the role
The Head of Alumni Engagement is a senior role within the Development Office, which will focus on encouraging a positive experience for our global community of 500,000 alumni. Often via telephone or email support, though we also have a thriving and complex Casework Service, helping bereaved navigate the inquest or investigation into their loved one’s death.
This new position will provide first-hand support to the existing team of 3, learning from their experiences and expertise about how we support people bereaved by epilepsy, and how this way of working influences the work we do across the charity.
You’ll be learning the ropes from day 1, getting stuck in with any tasks needed to help support the Bereavement Services team – this could range from admin tasks, answering initial enquiries from bereaved supporters (via phone or email), and will eventually lead to you taking initial calls with bereaved supporters, sharing with them the different ways the charity can support them, and helping us understand how best we can help them. There is a real potential for this role to grow and develop with the right candidate.

JOB PURPOSE
The Children and Young People’s Mentor will work within the CYP team to deliver services relating to children and young people affected by Domestic violence and Abuse.
They will hold a caseload for direct 1-1 work with young people/ girls and deliver a programme of groups in schools to adolescent girls. Responsibilities will include recording of data, reporting and completing evaluations.
They will be expected to promote the work of the Rising Sun and take a share of responsibility in delivering or assisting with promotional work within the organisation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Service delivery
- Work 1-1 with young people (aged 11 to 15 years) affected by Domestic violence and Abuse
- Build positive working relationships with local schools to deliver this programme
- Hold own caseload and respond in a way that understands the needs of the young people the Rising Sun supports
- Work in a mentoring capacity with children and adolescents with a specific focus on domestic abuse and its impact
- Recognise the impact of domestic abuse on young people and families; showing empathy and understanding in working with these families and developing the capacity to adopt a trauma informed approach to the work
- Support and facilitate groups in schools and in the community focusing on healthy relationships, spotting red flags etc
- Work flexibly with young people and meet with them in a variety of settings such as schools, colleges and community centres, depending on their needs
- Work creatively and flexibly to help support a vulnerable and at times challenging client group.
- Build relationships with partner agencies such as social care, early help, schools, police and health services
- Attend meetings on behalf of the Rising Sun where necessary, promote multi-agency working and build positive working relationships with external agencies at all times

- A relevant qualification in working with children and young people (Desirable)
- A thorough understanding of violence against women and girls with a particular focus on domestic abuse (coercive control, sexual violence, so-called ‘honour- based violence’, forced marriage and FGM)

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. In 2024 we embarked on our new 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.
It is an exciting time to be joining us at Crisis as we launch our ambitious new 10-year strategy. Our services will be key to helping deliver its aims. We work with thousands of people across England, Scotland, and Wales each year so they can leave homelessness behind for good. We have recently adapted the way our services work to maximise our impact in ending homelessness. We have increased our capacity to work with people one to one and strengthened our ability to support those people facing the most barriers to preventing or ending their homelessness.

You will be able to work from home one day per week in line with Crisis’ Hybrid Working Policy. You will be expected to travel around London on a regular basis to meet with partners and stakeholders. National travel i.e., to other Skylight Centres will be required on occasion.

Crisis Skylight London has a strong presence in the capital, working to end homelessness and delivering trauma informed services to our members, all underpinned by our commitment to Psychologically Informed Environments and supported by Clinical Psychologists.

The Director of Crisis Skylight London will be responsible for leading and developing strategic partnerships across several London Boroughs. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead the service into our new 10-year strategy, influencing key local and national political, community and business leaders, partners, and providers to drive forward our strategic priorities all with the aim of ending homelessness. You will play a key role as a decision marker on the Client Services Senior Leadership Team, along with your counterparts in other London Skylights, and from across the different regions of the UK.
About you
We are looking for an experienced, innovative, values driven senior leader from the homelessness, health, safeguarding or associated sectors. You will have experience of building relationships with senior leaders to develop strategic partnerships with the aim of achieving strategic objectives and influencing social change. You will have the motivation, commitment, and vision, able to influence a range of audiences and able to articulate a compelling case for change to key decision makers across London. You will be a leader in your field, with experience of operational delivery, ensuring high quality and safe services to vulnerable adults, with the ability to provide clear leadership to your team. We are seeking an operational and people focussed Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Team. You will drive development of all financial and operational management, processes and reporting, overseeing the organisation’s day-to-day operations including the leadership of Finance, People, Governance, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications and Digital.
The successful candidate will have held broad finance and operations positions, with a track record of interacting at Board level and presenting clear financial and management information. Whilst you don’t have to be financially qualified, we do need someone with strong financial acumen and demonstrable ability to monitor, interpret and communicate financial information effectively. You will have experience in implementing new and/or successful improvements to existing systems and processes, with a track record of driving organisational change. The post holder will have a good understanding of regulation and best practice alongside the ability to develop efficient processes and controls in line with our governance framework. Ensuring that people are at the centre of the Florence Nightingale Foundation (FNF) you will play a key role within the Executive team supporting the charity to achieve sustainable growth and delivery of efficient and effective services ensuring plans are developed and implemented, and targets are met.

Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility
Operational Leadership and Governance
- Overall accountability for the operations of the foundation
- Oversee and optimise internal processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Evaluate and improve overall performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics
- Oversee robust risk management processes and protocols proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks
- Oversee the development of all necessary policies to ensure safe and healthy working environments
- Ensure FNF is compliant with all financial, tax, charity and legal requirements
Financial Management
- Oversee the development and monitoring of the financial strategy for the organisation, providing recommendations, information and guidance to the Trustees and Executive team to inform decision making
- Maintain and review polices and processes to ensure good financial controls are in place that meet both legal and tax requirements. This includes maintaining appropriate records and controls over restricted funds to ensure that these are used and reported appropriately
- Support the Finance Manager and Executive team in setting FNF’s annual budget, with robust analysis and justification of intended expenditure, financial forecasts, cashflow etc. securing active engagement and ownership from all internal budget holders
- Oversee the financial reports required to review progress against plans and forecasts throughout the year and ensuring these are disseminated and understood across the organisation
- Accountable for regular financial updates to Trustees including the Finance Investment Committee (FIC) and Board meetings along with the preparation of the financial aspects of the annual report and accounts
- Oversee the management and development of VAT reporting for FNF and trading subsidiary
- Oversee the financial aspect of FNF Global delivery to ensure compliance with HMRC
Systems and controls
- Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of effective procurement systems and procedures, ensuring that FNF achieves best value and drives efficiencies through our external contracts
- Lead on the annual audit in accordance with current practice and the Charity Commissions Standard of Recommended Practice (SORP), liaising and managing the relationship with the auditors
- Oversee the operation of the payroll process and related HMRC contract ensuring that payments are made in an accurate and timely way
- Work with the Finance Committee to manage the investments for FNF, overseeing regular reviews of the investment policy and portfolio, liaising with external partners as necessary
Fundraising, Events, Marketing and Communications
- Provide leadership around income generation, making sure that this is located within the strategic framework and day to day thinking of the Foundation
- Provide leadership and direction for Marketing and Communications, ensuring that overall plans are in support of our strategic objectives
- Ensure all income generation activities from within this team are fully integrated across the Foundation, recognising the importance of inter departmental relationships
- Lead the team in the planning, communications, income generation and execution of the annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service and any similar high profile events.
Digital
- Provide strategic leadership in overseeing digital initiatives, guiding the development and execution of a comprehensive digital strategy
HR
- Provide expert professional judgement, advice, and guidance to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams in developing, monitoring, and implementing people strategies, policies and procedures, workforce and training that meet service needs.
