We are offering a salary of circa £55k, a 5% contribution to our auto-enrolment pension and 24 days annual leave.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WRCC is responsible for leading the organisation in achieving its mission and strategic goals. The CEO will provide visionary and operational leadership to ensure the charity's growth, sustainability, and impact. This role involves working closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, donors, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the organisation's strategic plan in alignment with its mission and vision.
- Identify and respond to emerging trends and opportunities in the charity sector.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of programs and services.
- Implement policies and procedures to maintain high standards of governance and accountability.
- Manage the charity's human resources, including recruitment, development, and retention of staff and volunteers.
Financial Stewardship:
- Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
- Secure funding through diverse income streams, including grants, donations, and partnerships.
- Ensure robust financial controls and reporting mechanisms are in place.
Fundraising and Development:
- Lead fundraising initiatives, cultivating relationships with donors and sponsors.
- Oversee grant writing and reporting processes.
- Explore innovative funding opportunities and partnerships to diversify income.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent the charity to external stakeholders, including government agencies, media, and community organisations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners and supporters.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for the charity, effectively communicating its mission and impact.
Governance and Compliance:
- Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure effective governance and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide regular updates and reports to the Board on the charity's performance and strategic direction.
- Ensure the organisation adheres to its ethical standards and values.
Program Development and Delivery:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services.
- Ensure programs align with the charity's mission and effectively meet the needs of beneficiaries.
- Promote best practices and evidence-based approaches in program delivery.
Communications and Public Relations:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to raise the charity's profile and engagement.
- Oversee the creation of marketing materials, annual reports, and digital content.
- Manage crisis communications and protect the charity's reputation.

In the role of Personal Assistant (PA) you will work alongside the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees as they lead Church Army forward. You will be a trusted and valued colleague who will help the CEO to make the most impact with their time by managing a busy diary, multiple projects and tasks with a flexible approach to the role and an ability to respond to needs as they present.
Initially, you will be working with the interim CEO, Jude Davis. Church Army are currently recruiting for a new permanent CEO which is why we are recruiting for a new PA now so that they can learn about the role and get settled in so that when the new CEO is appointed you will be able to support them from their first day in the role.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide a highly efficient and confidential administrative service to the CEO.
- To coordinate events and meetings that sit within the CEO’s Office.
- To optimise the working potential of the Chief Executive Office team through the effective organisation of time, information and resources.
- To provide a highly efficient and confidential administrative service to the Board of Trustees.
- To liaise when required with the CA Patron and patrons of individual projects.
- To provide a highly efficient and confidential administrative service to the President and Vice Presidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- The successful candidate will have:
- Experience of diary management of senior colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills to be able to deal with a range of people and positions on the phone and face to face.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Basic knowledge of GDPR.
- Confidence in using IT.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Initiative and the ability to work independently.
- The ability to stay calm under pressure.

What you will do:

To be successful in this role you will have:
Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities
A proven track record of networking and building and managing effective relationships, tailoring the approach to meet the differing needs of the audience
Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience
Experience of using your own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work

Main responsibilities
- Lead on the coordination of our volunteer leaders and volunteers to ensure we can deliver our volunteer tree planting, tree care days, and other activities, for example outreach volunteering or fundraising volunteering. Volunteer coordination includes:
- Managing volunteer leader rotas and calendars
- Ensuring all volunteers are provided with timely, accurate and clear logistical information ahead of volunteer days

- Putting in place suitable contingency plans in the case of a volunteer leader having to pull out of a commitment
- Administering our volunteer management system
- Work with the Chew Valley Project Team and the Engagement, Communications & Fundraising team to recruit new volunteers and volunteer leaders, and ensure the ongoing engagement of our current recruits. This includes:
- Communications focused on volunteer recruitment
- Coordinating volunteers along the recruitment process
- Ensuring our web and digital assets are accurate and up to date
- Producing high quality communications outputs targeted at our volunteers and volunteer leaders, for example, volunteer news bulletins
- Volunteer focused project promotion on social media and other channels

About the Role:
As our Senior Marketing Officer (Supporter Activation) you will project lead our highly successful water bill insert campaign (managed in close collaboration with the Water Industry Partnership Team). Overseeing the delivery of these campaigns from briefing through to post-campaign analysis, as well as the development of new ideas to maximise the opportunities offered by this relationship.
You'll support the Marketing Manager and wider team in the day-to-day development, management and delivery of a number of fundraising campaigns. In particular our successful DRTV programme, managing the relationship with our telemarketing agency and support in planning and delivery of new creative.
You'll also:
- Managing our response handling agency to ensure effective conversion of response for our DRTV campaigns through regular monitoring and testing; providing training and development and analysing results regularly.
- Manage agency relationships; overseeing the management and development of any campaigns from briefing through to post-campaign analysis, collaborating with external partners, taking responsibility for resolving queries, trafficking all stages of the project and escalation of potential problems.
- Help develop and manage expenditure and income budgets. Help create the budget, to monitor monthly management accounts and key performance indicators and to undertake reforecasts as required.
- Regularly monitor, evaluate and analyse campaigns, providing regular results and recommendations for strategy development based on reviews and analysis.
- Liaise with team leaders and project managers in other departments to identify and implement new cross-working opportunities utilising specialist knowledge and experience in direct marketing.
- Remain up-to-date about developments in the external market-place and assess the suitability of new, innovative approaches for recruiting supporters to remain competitive.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that all supporter communications are consistent with the WaterAid brand, working closely with the International, Policy and Campaigns, and Communications teams.
About You:
- Successful track record of working in a direct marketing role, including proven experience of planning and executing campaigns across different channels, including digital.
- Experience of managing telemarketing, call handling and large-scale print campaigns
- Experience of managing creative development, including writing creative briefs, working with creative agencies, ensuring the correct sign off procedures are followed, and appropriate stakeholders consulted.
- Project management experience including identifying opportunities and managing through to implementation.
- Ability to work flexibly and independently, to manage varying competing priorities and meet strict deadlines with often changing priorities.
- The ability to work as part of a team and collaboratively with a diverse group to deliver cross-organisational projects or objectives.
- Excellent numeracy skills with attention to detail and experience in monitoring, evaluating and analysing campaigns.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrable experience managing external suppliers.
Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:
- Experience of working in the voluntary / fundraising sector.
- Experience of delivering supporter direct mail and communication programmes.
- Experience managing new product development and/or innovation projects.
- Empathy with and understanding of overseas development issues.

As Chief Revenue Officer, you will play a key role in realising the charity’s vision and mission of expanding its activities and impact. The overall purpose of the role is to lead the development and implementation of the charity’s revenue strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimise existing revenue streams, identify new business opportunities, and drive the organisation's overall growth and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:

Establishing short, medium, and long term income targets and business plans in line with the charity’s strategy and growth ambitions.

Providing oversight of the charity’s current and future income streams, their relative value, impact and sustainability

Development and execution of revenue generation tactics including sponsorship, business and charity of the year partnerships, commercial sales & licensing, government contracts, lottery funding, trusts & foundations, and individual giving

Business development within the charity and through its trading subsidiary harnessing existing properties and developing new assets.

Maximising the charity’s intellectual property and pursue a pipeline of new business opportunities, partnerships, and alliances.

Working across the senior leadership team to develop new properties and partnerships which generate revenue for the charity while contributing to the mission, and aligning with charitable objectives.
The successful candidate will have a track record in establishing and growing revenue streams and organisational income, with proven experience in diverse leadership roles, driving and implementing revenue growth. Experience in a senior leadership role driving revenue growth is key, for example from activity, commercial activity, corporate partnerships, commissioned services and fundraising and demonstrated experience in business development, sales, and customer/member retention is a must.

The Research Officer will join our Applied Research and Evaluation division to contribute to work and projects of the Child Outcomes Research Consortium (CORC). CORC brings together organisations and individuals committed to using and improving evidence to improve children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. The post-holder will be skilled in the R programming language in order to validate, clean, analyse and visualise data for reports. They will be involved in interviewing research participants, so the ability to build and maintain relationships with project participants is key. Experience of research design, ethics approval and data collection is essential.
The successful candidate will join a friendly, cross-disciplinary team in which staff are continually developing their quantitative and qualitative research skills. They will liaise directly with practitioners and partner organisations to discuss data, analysis and findings. They will also have the opportunity to contribute to reports and academic publications. Other training and personal development needs will be determined in collaboration with the post-holder, e.g. further training in the R programming language or qualitative research.
