What you’ll be doing …

The Geological Society Publishing House has an exciting new opportunity within the publishing operations team for a Publishing Operations Assistant to implement workflow and development updates across our range of publishing operation systems. This is an early career role with the opportunity to progress current skills and understanding.

Overall responsibilities / requirements …

To collaborate with the Head of Publishing Operations (HoPO) and the Publishing Platform Manager (PPM) working on the range of publishing systems utilized in-house for the successful publication of the Society’s portfolio of titles, from submission through peer review to final online publication.

Key accountabilities

Manuscript submission system administration:

• Implementing workflow and development updates within our chosen ‘manuscript submission, reviewing and production tracking’ system.
• Overseeing and troubleshooting day-to-day issues with the manuscript submission system and its linked third-party vendors.
• Work with colleagues to assess any new opportunities for digital solutions (such as research integrity tools) within the STM publishing arena.

Publishing platform support:

• Ongoing maintenance of, and updates to, our publishing platform system, and downstream workflow operations to third-party aggregators.
• Work with colleagues to gain a greater understanding, and opportunities for development of, our publishing platform system.

Safeguarding: 

The role-holder will have experience working according to ethical and good practice safeguarding principles. How Will you Make a Difference?  

The Executive Assistant (EA) will provide high-level administrative support to Amna’s CEO, Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board of Trustees. This includes administrative help such as managing calendars, drafting communications and briefings, planning, and organising meetings, inbox support, travel, office administration and personal assistance. It also includes working on and managing special projects including research, data analysis, preparation for public speaking, writing and research. 

This dynamic and creative position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills including strong written and verbal skills, the ability to work with little supervision, and manage simultaneous priorities within the leadership team.

The role holder will report to the CEO. 

Key areas of responsibilities: 

CEO/SLT Support 

• Work closely with the CEO to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Act as a "barometer", staying attuned to the internal and external environment and keeping the CEO updated on relevant issues. 

• Anticipate the needs of the CEO and SLT in advance of meetings, conferences, and public appearances. 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the CEO and SLT team, including those of a highly confidential or critical nature. 

• Liaise between the CEO and SLT to ensure regular communications and smooth decision-making. 

• Provide sophisticated calendar management for Amna’s CEO and the SLT. Prioritize inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts and exercising tact; make judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth day-to-day engagements. 

• Prioritize and determine appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect CEO’s and SLT members style and Amna’s values and policies. 

• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to coordinate the CEO’s outreach activities. Follow up on contacts made by the CEO to cultivate ongoing relationships. 

• Writing and managing documentation and data sets for the CEO and SLT as needed, including briefing papers, correspondence and talking points. 

• Leading and managing special projects including research for Amna’s, CEO’s and SLT’s contribution to future books, podcasts and articles. 

• Maintain an organized filing system for documents, records, and correspondence related to the CEO, SLT and board. 

Admin and travel management

• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures in all administrative functions 

• Assist in the preparation and execution of organizational events. 

• Research and propose the most efficient and cost-effective travel options, including flights, trains, and accommodations.

• Prepare detailed travel itineraries, including transportation, accommodation, meeting times, and addresses. 

• Book accommodations that suit the requirements of the trip, ensuring comfort and proximity to meeting venues. 

• Manage group bookings for team members traveling together to streamline costs and logistics. 

• Handle travel expense reports, ensuring compliance with Amna policies and timely reimbursement. 

• Occasional travel may be required.

Board support 

• Manage due diligence and onboarding processes for new Trustees, ensuring compliance and accurate record-keeping. 

• Organize tailored training sessions for Board members. 

• Maintain up-to-date records of Board members, including contact information, terms of service, and compliance documents. 

• Assist Board members with travel expense claims and ensure accurate processing. 

• Compile, organize, and distribute materials for Board meetings, including reports and presentations. 

• Edit and format Board papers to ensure consistency and professionalism. 

• Coordinate logistics for Board meetings, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and required technology or equipment. 

• Attend Board meetings to provide administrative support, take minutes, and document actions and decisions. Distribute minutes promptly and track follow-up actions. 

• Develop and implement comprehensive induction plans for new Trustees. 

• Facilitate introductions and provide orientation materials to integrate new Board members effectively. 

Governance and Compliance 

• Support the CEO and committee chairs in adhering to the organization’s governance framework. 

• Maintain a centralized, up-to-date register of governance documents for easy access by senior staff and Trustees. 

• Ensure the organization complies with GDPR regulations in relation to all Board activities. 

• Work with the CEO and Chair to ensure the Board is informed about safeguarding practices and remains accountable. 

• Support emerging governance practices and Trustee development in partnership with the CEO and Chair. 

• Plan and execute Trustees’ regulatory obligations, including registering them with appropriate bodies. 

  Qualifications and Experience:  

• Minimum of 4-7 years of progressively responsible and diversified administrative experience, experience as an Executive Assistant or similar role. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. 

• Excellent research skills and experience in writing briefing papers 

• Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail. 

• Ability to work both independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. 

• Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software; ability to design and edit graphic presentations and materials. 

• Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. 

• Demonstrable commitment to Amna values and mission. 

• Legal understanding or experience with the Charity Commission is preferred. 

• Non-profit board experience is preferred.

Remuneration Package  

Remuneration: 38,000 GBP per annum.

Are you passionate about early help, emotional health and wellbeing support for children?

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic practitioner who shares the ambitions and values of both The Children's Society, our partners, and BBC Children in Need to work directly with children aged 8-13 and their families where appropriate. We're looking for someone who has excellent relational skills and who is familiar with ways of engaging younger children and their families specifically in relation to improving children's emotional health and wellbeing.

The funding is going to create a early support programme which will support children aged 8 - 13 years-old across England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland with a strong focus on those children and families who are not represented in emotional health and well being and mental health services. Our ambition is to support children and their families as early as possible to help prevent children developing and experiencing and mental health difficulties as they become teenagers.

The programme will offer one-to-one time-limited wellbeing interventions to children and their families. We will utilise solution-focussed approaches to provide children and their families with a toolbox of strategies to help support the child's emotional health and wellbeing and manage their feelings. The direct work with children and families will be supported by digital interventions, through the use of our own wellbeing site “Me Time”.

The role will be responsible for holding an agreed caseload of children who are struggling with their emotional health and wellbeing, working alongside other agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes and recording the impact you've been able to make on children's lives. You will also utilise The Children's Society digital offer as part of this programme.

What will I be doing?

About the role

The Children's Society (TCS) has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. As our Senior Supporter Insight Analyst you will play a pivotal role in The Children's Society's transformation into an ever more audience centric and insight led organisation.

This is a pivotal time to join The Children's Society as we are about to embark on the biggest fundraising campaign in the charity's history to ensure we can meet our 2030 goal to overturn the damaging decline in children's wellbeing.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that we our able to track and automate our campaign KPIs and translate that data into robust insight for our stakeholders. We are about to migrate our data to OneLake in Fabric and you will be pivotal in gathering stakeholder requirements for tracking the performance of our major appeal and work together with the supporter insight analyst to generate a suite of live dashboards in PowerBi. You'll work together closely with stakeholders to ensure that dashboards meet requirements and help to increase data literacy by running regular sessions with stakeholders to review and interrogate the data.

Alongside delivering automated reporting you will also be responsible for delivering deep dive analysis on key fundraising activities, campaigns and supporter journeys. This is so we can continually optimise our activities and communications and ensure that we speak to our supporters about the things that they're interested in, in the right media and with the right frequency and evaluate responses so we can deepen our supporter engagement.

You will become an insight partner for colleagues across the Social Impact domain (who focus on fundraising and marketing) and will help to upskill colleagues to become confident data users to help create an insight culture at TCS. You will also look outward and keep the Audience Insight Team abreast of new development in data analytics.

About the role 

We The Curious is about to enter an exciting new phase in its mission to connect and empower everyone through shared creative science learning experiences. It is now a year since we reopened and there is plenty to celebrate in our 25th Anniversary Year. We have exciting projects which range from community and educational outreach through to preparing for some major capital projects for which we must develop and cultivate support. 

The Development Team is responsible for fundraising across the whole organisation and the stewardship and development of our donors and supporters. The other members of the team are the Development Team Manager, Development Manager, Trusts and Foundations Manager and the Development Team Account Manager. The 999 Club is a small charity doing big things with local people facing homelessness. For over 30 years we’ve been in the heart of Deptford providing warm welcomes and wraparound services ensuring those who need us are given the best chance of leaving homelessness behind for good.  

Our Gateway Drop-In Centre offers nutritious meals, laundry and medical facilities, showers, IT access, phone charging , a safe space to rest and a dedicated Women’s Sanctury.  

When members feel ready, our team of expert staff are on hand to support them into suitable accommodation where possible, secure income via paid work or benefits, and provide immigration signposting for those who need it. Once housed, our Move+ programme continues to work with them to ensure they settle into new accommodation with the knowledge, skills, community and hope required to thrive in their new life.  

We also run The Bridge, a free six-week evening mental health course open to anyone in the community experiencing mental distress. The programme provides a practical toolkit to support long-term mental wellbeing.  

JOB OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES 

This newly created role will play a vital role in advancing 999 Club’s ambitious plans to enhance its status, reputation, and support among both existing and wider audiences. At this pivotal moment in the charity’s history, the postholder will work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Members’ Committee to co-develop and implement a bold new communications and marketing strategy. 

Building on last year’s extensive rebrand, this role will ensure that the voices of those with lived experience remain central to the organisation’s messaging and identity. You will be responsible for managing the financial transactions of the organisation. Working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure all financial systems are implemented effectively while ensuring data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.  Accounts Payable

Sitting within the Supporter Led Fundraising (SLF) department, the Sporting Events Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for securing over £3.5m income from individuals and groups fundraising through mass participation events including The London Marathon, International Marathons, The Great North Run, Threshold Events and more!

As one of two Sporting Event Managers, you will join a busy and successful team of 10 responsible for the delivery and optimisation of our events portfolio. We are looking for an exceptional individual, who will lead on the planning, project management and delivery of ARUK’s flagship third-party events, including London Landmarks, Own Place in Event Fundraising and challenge events.

This is a line management role, currently responsible for 4 direct reports and the strategic oversight of the events they manage. You will work closely with the other Sporting Event Manager to ensure consistency with supporter stewardship, manage budgets and support in financial planning, review team capacity and identify and manage priorities throughout the event calendar year, ensuring efficiency and a first-class supporter experience, with an overall goal of maximising income for dementia research.

You will be an integral part of the SLF Managers Team, helping drive our ambitious organisation growth and ultimately helping us find a cure. The role is managed by the Head of Sporting Events & Volunteering (HoSV).

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Line Management

· Line management of the high performing 2x Sporting Events Officers and 2x Sporting Events Executives; inspiring and driving their success to ensure they remain highly motivated in their roles, achieve their targets and play a key part in the performance of the wider Sporting Events Team, and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

· Monitor, review, and empower direct reports to ensure effective communication across the wider team and with key stakeholders e.g. volunteering, RFO’s and wider SLF.

· Support your direct line reports in their development, helping them to spot opportunities for growth.

 

Monitoring and Reporting

· Manage the Sporting team’s income and expenditure budget, including monthly reporting, and supporting HoSV with monthly reforecasts, and annual budget and operational plan setting.

· Review participation and income against event targets to track impact, ROI and cost income ratio and report back to HoSV regularly.

· Ensure the fundraising CRM (salesforce) is being used effectively to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and financial reporting.

· Use data insights and trends to support the HoSV in budgeting, forecasting and event portfolio reviews.

· Continue to review and be willing to change Sporting Event Team processes and contribute to wider organisational process changes where necessary.

· Support the embedding of our CRM system: Salesforce, including writing processes and ensuring CRM best practice across the team.

 

Relationship Management

· Build and maintain excellent working relationships with our third-party event providers and identify new opportunities and ensure all avenues are being optimised for ARUK.

· Identify and steward alongside the Regional Fundraising Officers’ high-value supporters to ensure we are spotting opportunities beyond their current event.

· Work collaboratively within SLF, to ensure all fundraising opportunities are shared and communicated and resources are available.

· Work closely with the Marketing & Engagement Team to brief in marketing requirements, share trends, learnings, and results to optimise future activities.

· Work closely with managers from SLF Departments and work together as a management team to support on the strategic direction of ARUK, as well as deliver any tactical projects.

· Support and consult with any cross functional teams to deliver our third-party events portfolio.

 

Strategy & Operational Planning

· Work in consultation with the HoSV to develop the sporting events strategy and annual tactical plan for ARUK to continue to build income in this area.

· Work with HoSV to further develop our events strategy for 2026 onwards.

· Stay abreast of sector sporting events activity to ensure effective positioning and marketing of events.

Stewardship and Supporter experience:

· Plan and deliver an excellent communications journey for sporting event participants including exploring new technologies and how we can talk to our supporters in the way most effective and relevant to them- whether that be email, phone, face to face or SMS. Whilst also ensuring it aligns with wider stewardship goals with the charity and future cross-sell asks.

· Attend third-party events and oversee appropriate staff and volunteer representation to give the maximum brand presence and give the supporters the best possible event day experience e.g. Cambridge Half, London Marathon, London Landmarks, Great North Run and any other events where we need staff.

· Work with the wider SLF team to share best practise, ‘surprise and delight’ success and re-engagement activity to help drive long-term loyalty.

· Work with Regional Fundraising Officers, Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships teams to pass over warm and relevant supporters at the best points in their individual stewardship journeys.

· Work alongside Data and Insights Teams to understand the potential lifetime value of our sporting events participants and ensure opportunities are developed for supporters to hold a long-term fundraising relationship with ARUK.

About the Role

Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £42,193 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office.
