The post holder will hold a strategic leadership role for Youth Practice within Family Action and will lead on the development of an inclusive youth model.

This is a national role, which will support the implementation and ongoing development of our existing and new youth services, across the organisation. We are looking for an individual with sound knowledge of the youth framework, a dynamic individual, with a creative approach, who can drive and lead change and effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels with key stakeholders.

· Lead the development of youth services in the organisation.

• Ensure youth participation at Family Action is at the core of the service delivery, ensuring young people voices support and shape organisational planning.
• Contribute towards developing policies and procedures for the organisations youth services, ensuring they are translated into practice with support and training.

Key info 

Annual salary: £16,000 (£32,000 full-time equivalent)

18 hours a week, including 7.5 hours of teaching split over Mondays and Wednesdays (between 9.00am and 3.30pm) 

14 days’ annual leave (28 days full-time equivalent), to be taken during school holidays, plus additional time off between Christmas and the New Year. Occasional term-time annual leave can be agreed with line manager. 

7% employer pension contributions

About ESOL learning at CARAS 

For many years now, ESOL learning has been essential to our holistic offer. Community members typically tell us that learning English is their top priority when they join us. The CARAS ESOL project won the President’s Award at the 2021 Festival of Learning in recognition of our work. 

The CARAS ESOL project supports people in the early stages of ESOL learning. Our adult ESOL groups prepare learners for entry-level Speaking and Listening or Reading and Writing exams with the English Speaking Board. All classes have rolling admission throughout the year, which means the learner groups are evolving all the time. 

ESOL classes at CARAS are guided by our values and principles, including participatory education, trauma-informed practice and translanguaging pedagogy. The three main aims of the ESOL project are to: 

• increase learners’ communicative competence and confidence; 

• help learners progress into college, training or employment; 

• expand learners’ social networks. 

Main activities 

• teaching ESOL classes (face-to-face and online): 7 hours / 5 classes a week during term time (38 weeks a year), ESOL Literacies, Pre-Entry to Entry 2 level 

• supporting ESOL learners to develop essential digital skills and literacies by embedding them in the lessons 

• preparing groups to take exams accredited by the English Speaking Board 

• collaborating closely with the adult team to develop and facilitate the CARAS employability project  

• planning for and accompanying ESOL groups on educational trips once a term 

• assessing learners during their engagement in the programme and planning for move on support with college applications, volunteering opportunities and signposting to other ESOL provisions 

• completing admin tasks such as class records and learner enrolment 

• developing participatory and creative lesson plans to inspire and meet the needs of the learner group 

• meeting new community members to do an intake meeting with them once a month.

• recruiting and supervising a team of volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants as and when required 

• communicating with learners between classes to support their engagement and provide signposting or referrals to casework and external services

Person specification 

We expect applicants to meet most of the criteria below, but not everything. We value experience from volunteering, unpaid work and lived experience as well as from employment history.

• have a recognised ESOL teaching qualification, minimum Level 5 (e.g. CELTA or CertTESOL), preferably Level 7 (e.g. PGCE with ESOL specialism) or equivalent 

• have a minimum one year full-time (or equivalent part-time) experience of teaching ESOL to adults or young adults 

• have a track record of successfully teaching beginner-level ESOL learners and providing differentiated support 

• have any knowledge or experience in providing literacy support to learners new to reading and writing English

• take a creative and participatory approach to learning 

• have experience of teaching preparation classes for ESOL exams that include reading and writing components 

• can support learners to develop their literacy & digital skills 

• know a variety of ways to assess learners, including diagnostic and formative assessment

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference through the playing a vital role in our Philanthropy Team.

Shaw Trust provides support to young people across London funded by Local Authorities, Schools, SFA that include providing information advice, guidance and support to ensure young people are able to assess their attributes and circumstances, planning to meet learning goals, supporting them to implement their plans and keeping these under review.

We would like individuals that are committed to supporting and engaging with young people to ensure they develop resilience and are able to make positive and sustainable transitions through education and training into employment. Job Description

• Provide direction and organisation to the on-site learning programme
• Recruit appropriate students with disabilities for the programme / conduct education assessments for those who have applied
• Plan and deliver (including virtual) daily classroom activities and lesson plans in line with agreed units to achieve the Pearson’s employability award (Entry Level 3 – Level 2),
• Deliver daily classroom support in literacy and numeracy.
• Support interns to develop the Pearson’s portfolios to achieve the accreditation and skills attained, letter of recommendations from internship sites, etc.

This role is based at the Victim Support office in Gloucester (Eastgate House) with travel expected throughout Gloucestershire.

As the Multi-Crime Team Leader you will:

Ensure the delivery of excellent services to victims of crime and retain and develop contracts for services by supporting and managing operational staff

Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager and management team, in order to achieve the implementation of work force plans and the development of the service to maximise positive outcomes for those that access the service

Proactively promote the service, raise awareness of services & work with professionals collaboratively to improve the access to and quality of services

You will need:

An understanding of the Criminal justice system and the impact of crime on victims and witnesses

An understanding of legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments

A practical understanding of the requirement for confidentiality and safe working practice and maintenance of records in accordance with the Data Protection Act and other legal requirements

Experience of working in a challenging and changing environment with an emphasis on customer focus and excellence in service delivery

Demonstrable experience of providing crisimanagement, support and guidance in sometimes stressful and difficult situations to a team with a client service focus

Excellent communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting professionally with a range of agencies and individuals.

About You

Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of large-scale nature restoration projects driven by private and public investment into nature’s recovery? 

In Wales, the Trusts are setting an ambition to scale up and increase the pace of natures recovery. They have a proven track record of delivering nature conservation projects. However, they now need to scale this to all Wales programmes. They now have support teams from political advocacy, green financing and corporate engagement to match our unique ability to deliver nature restoration at the local level. In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector as well as maintaining close links with funders. These are exciting times and they are building on their unique position to develop major programmes with partners across Wales. 

They need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with Trusts to bring this work into coherent programmes and develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide the expertise and capacity to work alongside Trust staff who are already committed to developing these programmes. 

You will be from a nature restoration background with an ambition to drive forward a step change in scale and pace of action. You will be organised and motivated, able to take the initiative and lead the effective delivery of nature restoration programme development in Wales. You will have an understanding of issues facing nature. You will likely have experience in project development work and, ideally, an understanding of Welsh partners. You are used to keeping accurate records and can present clearly and professionally. You will be a great communicator, with a personable style who can work with many different people across the wonderful variety of geography and activities of the Trusts.

About you

As a Supporter Services Officer you’ll be part of a busy team delivering an outstanding multi-channel contact service to Practical Action’s existing and potential supporters and donors. You will have a passion for people and will always be looking to go the extra mile to help others.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Supporter Relationship Management

• To provide the best possible experience for our supporters, at all points of contact, including email, phone and postal channels.
• To keep informed and up to date about all relevant activities of Practical Action in the countries of operation, retaining and managing information needed to respond to supporters.
• To make outbound telephone calls and emails as required to new supporters, follow up queries, verify details or thank donors, acting as an ambassador for Supporter Services and Practical Action at all times.

Income Processing / Database Management

• To deal with incoming and outgoing post, all donations made online via the Practical Action website and other charitable giving platforms, ensuring all donations are handled accurately and in line with agreed procedures.
• To process cash donations effectively and accurately onto our database. 
• To produce and send out letters of acknowledgement to supporters, personalising these communications appropriately.
• To set up Direct Debits/Standing Orders, handle upgrades and other changes to committed gifts, issuing appropriate communications to supporters.
• To accurately process and commit Direct Debit claims.
• To manage Gift Aid on supporter records. This will include setting up new declarations, ending and cancelling declarations and sending out notifications to supporters.
• To deal with new supporters’ welcome communications.
• To liaise with supporters regarding cancellation of donations.
• To update supporter information on the database such as personal details, communication preferences, and other indications of interest or activities to ensure that all our donor information is up to date.
• To undertake manual data entry where required, and to work to avoid the need for duplication of data entry, and ensure automation where possible.
• To pull information required, download and process third party donations ensuring that they are compliant with GDPR.

Compliance

• To keep abreast of all legislation relating to charitable giving such as PCI DSS, Institute of Fundraising guidelines and best practice, Data Protection and Gift Aid Regulations.
• To ensure data is managed to appropriate standards of data protection and security.
• To be aware of and consistently using organisational policies and procedures

Team Working

• To undertake and participate on projects as directed by the Supporter Experience Manager.
• To work closely with the team to review and improve practices and procedures, implementing positive changes and improving efficiency.
• To contribute to organisational meetings e.g. Stand Up, team away days etc.
• To be proactive in joining cross functional working groups.
• To work closely with the finance and fundraising teams to ensure that all processes are working to the highest standard.
