What you’ll be doing …
The Geological Society Publishing House has an exciting new opportunity within the publishing operations team for a Publishing Operations Assistant to implement workflow and development updates across our range of publishing operation systems. This is an early career role with the opportunity to progress current skills and understanding.
Overall responsibilities / requirements …
To collaborate with the Head of Publishing Operations (HoPO) and the Publishing Platform Manager (PPM) working on the range of publishing systems utilized in-house for the successful publication of the Society’s portfolio of titles, from submission through peer review to final online publication.
Key accountabilities
Manuscript submission system administration:
- Implementing workflow and development updates within our chosen ‘manuscript submission, reviewing and production tracking’ system.
- Overseeing and troubleshooting day-to-day issues with the manuscript submission system and its linked third-party vendors.
- Work with colleagues to assess any new opportunities for digital solutions (such as research integrity tools) within the STM publishing arena.
Publishing platform support:
- Ongoing maintenance of, and updates to, our publishing platform system, and downstream workflow operations to third-party aggregators.
- Work with colleagues to gain a greater understanding, and opportunities for development of, our publishing platform system.

About the role
You will ensure we deliver high quality legal services and manage our Legal Aid Contract, with your main focus being to manage and supervise the legal teams who are advocating for clients with housing issues, as well as bringing about systemic change. You will be dealing with personnel issues, providing professional support and supervision to your team as well as carrying your own caseload of housing litigation.
Contributing to the strategic direction of Shelter legal services nationally will be an important aspect of the role too, as will taking the lead on delivering strategic change aligned to Shelter’s strategy and ensuring Legal aid contract requirements and performance targets are met.
You will be able to identify test case opportunities to address systemic bad practice and so achieve change for a greater number of people and will work closely with the Head of Legal Services, the Hub Management Team and teams within Communications, Policy and Campaigns and Business Development.
As a key member of the management team, you will also get to play your part in the management of our offices, including attending management team meetings and collaborating with other teams.
About you
You will be experienced in working under a housing legal aid contract, court advocacy, carrying your own caseload as well as managing and supervising others. You will have a minimum of 4 years post qualification legal practice experience, have supervisor status and have substantial knowledge of housing and homelessness law. Independent File Reviews, time recording and good case management will also be part of the role.
You are able to carry out research and policy analysis in the areas of housing, homeless and welfare law, produce reports and presentations.

As a Resilience Worker – Youth Justice Service, you’ll be working within an Integrated, Whole Family Recovery Service, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside our partners in the Youth Justice Service. We are looking for a Funding Officer to join our team in Wales. This is a fixed term, full time post until March 2026 (open to a conversation on flexible working and job share)
Depending on your location and preference, you will be based in either the Cardiff or Newtown office. You are welcome to be based in the office full time, or a combination of home and office working. You will need to travel within Wales to work with community groups and charities, and to other offices across the UK to work with colleagues.
As a Funding Officer serving our Mid & West Wales region, (Bridgend, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys and Swansea).
- You will assess requests for funding and manage grants using local knowledge, best practice, thematic expertise, and the experience of customers and stakeholders to improve our grant making and inform our decision making. By working closely with people and communities, you will understand what matters to them and where our funding can make the biggest difference.
- You will be responsible for supporting local people and communities in Bridgend and Neath Port Talbot, and have a strong understanding of our vision, being able to adapt your approach to the wishes of the people you are working with.

About the role:
You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. The family caseworkers provide in person support to families who have experienced the sudden and traumatic death by Homicide (Murder/Manslaughter/Corporate manslaughter/Gross Negligence manslaughter). The Family Caseworkers also offer specialist support to direct Eyewitnesses of Homicide. They provide a systematic, trauma informed approach to care and undertake a comprehensive needs assessment which will create a bespoke support plan for each person they support. The caseworkers are responsible for ensuring the needs identified are met, that each person being supported receives guidance, advise and practical support as well as emotional support and advocacy. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills essential to managing a diverse workload, and be committed to supporting the caseworkers to deliver support.
We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. We support staff to keep them safe within their role and you will lead on the importance of personal and professional resilience and wellbeing for the team.
You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. You will be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. We value our teams and their welfare

About the role:
- You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. The family caseworkers provide in person support to families who have experienced the sudden and traumatic death by Homicide.
- The caseworkers are responsible for ensuring the needs identified are met, that each person being supported receives guidance, advise and practical support as well as emotional support and advocacy. You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills essential to managing a diverse workload, and be committed to supporting the caseworkers to deliver support.

- Manage your own caseload of service users which will include safety planning, risk and need assessing and completing an action plan with the service user

The Role
