Job description
About the team

We have big goals over the next few years.

We're going to be fighting for mental health in a way we never have before.

Together we'll be working to make sure everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the support and respect they deserve.

Team information

Will you join us?

Are you passionate about producing high quality, user-centred information? Want to apply your content skills to meaningful work that helps millions of people each year?

We're looking for a senior editorial officer to join our information content team.

Our information service aims to help people:

-Live with and recover from mental health problems

-Understand and access their rights

-Make informed choices

We do this by producing high quality, user-centred content on mental health topics.

We work to:

-Listen to our audience to understand their needs, behaviours and preferences

-Develop the content people need, in a way they can find and use

-Keep all our information current, accurate and informed by lived experience

You'll play an important role in helping us to achieve these goals.

Key duties and responsibilities

As our senior editorial officer, you'll get to:

-Co-ordinate scheduling, production and quality control for our publications list

-Edit a range of content projects (usually digital, sometimes print)

-Brief and work with authors, freelancers, experts

-Gather research, evidence and data to discover user needs, and guide decisions

-Plan and lead user research and user-testing opportunities

-Help develop content production processes, policies and guidelines

About you:

-Passion for creating accessible, inclusive, user-centred content

-A great editor and copywriter - you can put any idea into concise, clear words (and you can spot a typo a mile away)

-A strong project manager who can keep schedules on track

-Skilled in analytics, user research and user testing methods

-Experienced working with experts and other stakeholders

-Advocate for best practice in content design, UX and SEO

-Can engage with people in a respectful and sensitive way - whatever their background

About the team:

We're a warm and friendly team - serious about our work and passionate about supporting one another. You'll be responsible to the Editorial Manager.

Vacancies at this level within our team are rare, and we're excited to welcome a new person.

Plus working at Mind comes with plenty of benefits. Like flexible working. And 30 days of annual leave - which includes 5 'Mind' days, where we close the office for an extra day after Bank holidays.

If all the above sounds interesting to you, we can't wait to hear from you!

Mind's equity statement

Mind is committed to equality of opportunity for all staff, and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.

Please refer to the Job Description while completing your application as candidates will be shortlisted based on how closely they match the criteria in the personal specification.
