Job Title: Partnerships & Evaluation Manager (Maternity Cover)

Contract: Fixed term contract for 13 months

Start date: December 2024

Reports to: Luminary Limited CEO

Hours: 40 hours per week 

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Job Purpose: To help graduates of Luminary’s training programme  to move towards independence and employment; and to ensure Luminary is achieving maximum impact for women through strong monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement.

Summary of the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join Luminary Limited, an award winning charity supporting women who have experienced multiple disadvantages to achieve independence and employment. The Partnerships & Evaluation Manager plays a key role in helping graduates of our training programme to build confidence and skills and move into work. You will do this by coordinating and expanding opportunities for work experience both with external partners and within Luminary’s social enterprise, Luminary Bakery Ltd. You will lead our mentoring programme, which links volunteers with our graduates to help them for a 6 month mentoring relationship. You will also ensure that we are doing everything we can to help women succeed, through ensuring strong monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement across our activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

MENTORING: 

• Coordinate the Luminary mentoring scheme – recruiting,  pairing & managing volunteer mentors to ensure they offer graduates the best possible support for their first steps towards employment & independence
• Managing issues from graduates or mentors relating to the mentoring programme
• Delivering training sessions to prepare mentors for their role

PARTNERSHIPS: 

• Network & broker relationships with suitable external partners to create work placement opportunities for our training programme graduates, overseeing and coordinating these opportunities, and accompanying women to interviews or placements where necessary to help them gain confidence
• Design and create procedures, written agreements & employer checks to solidify partnerships & opportunities, ensuring our graduates are well looked after on placements and safeguards are in place.
• Support delivery of work experience, apprenticeships and paid opportunities in the Luminary Bakery social enterprise by liaising effectively with business team members, Luminary Support Workers and women on the programmes – including delivering relevant sessions and training.
• Coordinate progression opportunities for Luminary women including the Lifelong Learning Fund and other upskilling opportunities post-graduating
• Delivering training sessions and making presentations for Luminary trainees and  external partners

LINE MANAGEMENT & LEADERSHIP: 

• Line Manage the Women’s Involvement Champion and the Team Assistant
• Play an active role in the charity’s Senior Management Team, contributing to joint decisions, strategy development and supporting other managers to deliver collective impact
• Managing an annual budget for your area of work

MONITORING & EVALUATION:

• Responsible for ensuring that Luminary is tracking and reporting impact effectively, designing creative impact collection methods and ensuring team are inputting in a timely manner, working with expert partners or consultants where needed
• Analyse data, understanding trends & key stats to report on, anticipate and mitigate barriers to Luminary achieving its KPIs
• Lead on creating Luminary’s Impact Report, working with the CEO to design content and messaging, coordinating with colleagues to gather content, and coordinating with photographers and designers to create the finished product
• Support Fundraiser with data to inform grant reports, by pulling data from our existing impact database and coordinating with colleagues to gain supplementary information where needed
• Working with other managers to conduct internal evaluations and reviews of programme activities, and coordinating external evaluations where needed. 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Experience in coordinating or managing projects

• Understanding of monitoring, evaluation or impact measurement, ideally in the charity sector

• An understanding of barriers to employment faced by women who have experienced multiple disadvantage and the importance of trauma informed approaches
• Qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis skills (we are open to bringing in external support where needed to assist with technical aspects of monitoring and impact measurement)

Schools Coordinator

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Schools Coordinator (Impact Officer) to work as the primary link between partner schools and the CYUK programme.

This youth social action charity challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time social action. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Position: Schools Coordinator (internal title School Impact Officer)

Location: RM8 3EX. 2 days per week from this location

Training Location: E1 6EG  -1 day per week, Friday, at this location. With occasional working from home.

Hours: Part - Time, for 3 days per week. Normal working hours are 8:00 - 4:30, Monday to Friday. Working Fridays is essential, the other days are flexible.

Work Schedule: Term-time working (except the second half of August)

Salary: £29,144 per annum pro rata

Duration: Permanent

Start Date: January 2024. We hope to include ad-hoc induction days/half days (all paid) in December 2024, to be agreed upon with the candidate.

The Role

We have a rewarding opportunity for a School Impact Officer to train, support and develop volunteers and monitor the programme through effective administration, data management and to build a deep partnership between the school and the charity.

The Impact Officer is based predominantly in a school and is the primary link between the partner schools and the programme and is the enabler of the programme delivery.  You will support a team of volunteer mentors, who support school activities by coordinating, managing and evaluating the programme.

The Volunteer Mentors also complete a Leadership and Development programme and you will work with them on a professional development plan to chart their continuous professional development and ready them for employment.

The role is primarily a school-based post from Monday to Thursday and is office based on most Fridays. See locations above.

Our prior Program Manager has moved up to the role of Chief Programs Officer on our executive team. As such, we are looking for a deeply impact-motivated Program Manager to run our flagship Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program. In this role, you will train, advise, and pair exceptional potential founders through a twice-annual, two-month training program. This culminates in supporting the founders through a seed fundraising round and the launch of new charities delivering exceptionally cost-effective programs at scale across global development.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program is a twice-a-year intensive training program enabling cohorts of 8-16 exceptionally talented international entrepreneurs and nonprofit professionals to launch outstandingly cost-effective, evidence-based new nonprofits in the space of two months. 

The program chiefly consists of a twice-annual sequence.

• Preparing the upcoming cohort and running the initial book club where participants deep dive into our handbook and the recommended idea reports

• The two-month program itself, which includes a 2+ week in-person section and consists of training and coaching participants to select co-founders and ideas

• Post-program support to the new founders, providing ongoing guidance and facilitating connections with our networks of mentors and alumni.

• Evaluation and improvement work for the program itself,  and the post-program support and evaluation plus improvements period. In between, the team 

The Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program team chiefly consists of ~two FTE preparing and running the program and  interacting regularly with the recruitment team (for finding and selecting the ideal program candidates), the research team (for selecting and adapting the ideal charity ideas for the program participants), and the operations team (for supporting the incubated projects immediately upon launch through the program). This role reports to Samantha, our Chief Programs Officer, and works closely together with Steve, the second Program Manager who focuses mostly on participant training and coaching.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

The exact %s of these will depend on what will be most impactful and the interests and skill areas of the successful candidate, but will likely look something like this:

Direct Program Management - 40%

• During the preparation phase:

  • Clearly and proactively managing timelines and communications with internal staff, external partners, and program participants

  • Improving systems such that running the program becomes more efficient and effective round over round

• During the program phase for 8 weeks twice a year (February to March and August to September):

  • Facilitating training sessions  - discussions, presentations, workshops - with participantsbased on best practices

  • Providing key feedback on participant project work on short timelines, including on materials such as cost-effectiveness analyses, geographic assessments, theories of change, budgets, pilot plans etc.

  • Mentoring participants directly in 1:1 calls and chats

  • Guiding participants through two intense in-person weeks in our London office, including in their co-founder and charity idea testing and decisions

• Towards the end and immediately following the program:

  • Helping participants develop our raw researched top nonprofit ideas into organisations ready to implement a first pilot within mere months of graduating

Alumni/Community Management & Development - 40%

• Managing a growing extended community of mentors, advisors, and service providers that could support our charities at different stages of their development (e.g., seed, pilot, scale-up, external evaluation)

Program Improvement / M&E - 20%

• Carrying out and improving our internal program monitoring & evaluation:

• Identifying priority gaps in program curriculum and structure based on M&E, proactive research, and later charity outcomes

• Designing or adapting existing content, including applied projects, workshops, or written material, to support program goals

FUTURE GROWTH TRAJECTORIES

This is a senior role within AIM, but future growth and expertise development trajectories for excelling hires could look like:

• Focusing on charity strategy development and advising: a hire with more experience and expertise in launching, piloting, and scaling could play a more active hand in revamping our content and mentoring charities on their strategies from the outset; i.e. advising closely on plans, giving more feedback on early project plans, mentoring directly post-program, etc.

• Leaning into building out a thriving alumni ecosystem: optimising our post-program coordination, expanding our partnership work, spending more work on post-program content and community, coordinating our networks of alumni and mentors, creating digital/in-person events, and other strategies to help our charities and their staff reach & expand their potential

• Becoming an expert in M&E: playing a heavier role in the impact assessment & optimisation of Charity Entrepreneurship as the key impact arm of AIM. This would involve more collaboration with our research and recruitment teams to improve our systems and feedback loops, and/or our M&E specialist working to create early internal evaluations of our charities and later external evaluations

• (At some point) going through our Charity Entrepreneurship Incubation Program themselves as a participant, bringing all the built skills and expertise to bear in their own nonprofit

ABOUT YOU

The role is most suitable for a mid-level professional (3-5+ years of experience) with a background in running programs or nonprofit organisations. An ideal candidate may bring experience in launching and implementing new or early-stage programs or in conducting earlier stage intervention research or monitoring & evaluation work, particularly in LMIC contexts. The applied experience will be invaluable in training, pairing, and advising the next generations of incubatees who are aiming to launch some of the most impactful nonprofits in the world.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Our application processes aim to be highly predictive, time-effective, and informative for you. Our process consists only of stages that our best evidence suggests are predictive of success on the job (such as test tasks) rather than more common but less predictive stages (such as cover letters). We only invite candidates to the next stage if we think they have a good chance of passing it, and take care to choose tasks and interview questions that will also give you a good sense of the role and our culture.

Applicants will be asked to complete the following stages:

1. Submitting our general application form (30 minutes to 1 hour),

2. A general test task (2-3 hours) with the top 10 to 30 candidates,

3. An initial interview (15 minutes) with the top 10-20 candidates,

4. A test task simulating the work you would do in your role (2-3 hours) with the top 5-15 candidates,

5. A final, more in-depth interview (~60 minutes) with the final 2-5 candidates.

We will also conduct a reference check before making an offer. Each stage typically takes 1-2 weeks from the end of the application deadline, and we hope to make an offer within ~8 weeks of the application deadline. Ideally, the candidate will begin onboarding as soon as possible after an offer is made. We strongly prefer candidates to join the team by January 2025, but we would consider a different date for an ideal candidate.

The role

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for working with Cruse in partnership with the Southern Gas Network (SGN) to support people experiencing a bereavement, with help and information to alleviate fuel poverty, enabling them to maintain a safe and warm home.

The Project Coordinator will work collaboratively across Cruse with our communications team, finance team, data team and service teams, to help extend the reach of these valuable services to bereaved people. This includes upskilling staff and volunteers with regard to fuel poverty, with training information and resources. Develop and support drop-in sessions, groups and community events. Raising awareness through communications / digital / newsletters etc and Providing monitoring reports to evaluation the services provided.

Job Summary:

The Executive Assistant to the Deputy Director of Programmes will provide high-level administrative support, ensuring the efficient operation of the office and supporting the Deputy Director in managing their workload. This role requires a proactive individual with excellent organisational, communication, and multitasking skills, capable of handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. The Executive Assistant will act as a key liaison between the Deputy Director, internal departments, and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall effectiveness and impact of the Programmes Department.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Administrative Support:
   • Manage the Deputy Director’s diary, schedule meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
   • Prepare and organise meeting agendas, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
   • Draft, edit, and proofread correspondence, reports, presentations, and other documents on behalf of the Deputy Director.
   • Handle incoming communications (emails, calls, etc.) and respond or redirect as appropriate.
2. Project Coordination:
   • Assist in the coordination of projects and initiatives led by the Deputy Director, including tracking progress, deadlines, and deliverables.
   • Conduct research and compile data to support project planning and decision-making.
   • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless execution of cross-functional projects.
   • Maintain and update project documentation and files.
3. Liaison and Communication:
   • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Deputy Director and internal/external stakeholders.
   • Facilitate communication and collaboration between the Deputy Director and team members, ensuring information is accurately conveyed and deadlines are met.
   • Represent the Deputy Director in meetings or events when necessary.
4. Office Management:
   • Organise and maintain the Deputy Director’s office, ensuring it is well-equipped and efficient.
   • Manage office supplies, equipment, and budget as needed.
   • Coordinate with IT and other support services to ensure the Deputy Director has the necessary tools and resources.
5. Event and Meeting Coordination:
   • Plan and organise departmental meetings, workshops, and events, including logistics, catering, and materials preparation.
   • Assist in the preparation of presentations, speeches, and other materials for events or conferences.
   • Ensure all event and meeting details are flawlessly executed.
6. Confidentiality and Discretion:
   • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
   • Manage the Deputy Director’s files and records, ensuring secure storage and easy retrieval.
   • Adhere to organisational policies regarding data protection and privacy.
7. Personal Assistance:
   • Provide occasional personal assistance to the Deputy Director as needed, including managing personal appointments or tasks.
   • Assist with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required by the Deputy Director.
8. Other:
   • To demonstrate Muslim Hands’ values and ethics in own working practices, approach and conduct
   • To support with Fundraising activities from time-to-time, committing to partake in approximately 5-Live-TV-Appeals during our peak periods.
   • To undertake any reasonable responsibilities as required by Line Manager

Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an executive assistant or senior administrative role.
  • Experience in a non-profit or international development organisation is advantageous.
• Skills:
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Purpose of the role

To support Lifelites’ Services team in designing, developing and delivering the multi-channel Lifelites Learning programme. Assisting the Lifelites trainer to deliver training for staff across children’s palliative care in person, online and through e-learning. Lifelites Learning complements the provision of Lifelites technology packages, increases confidence and skills of staff and provides high quality, accessible learning resources to maximise the impact of assistive technology.

The role will also provide vital support and resilience to Lifelites technology provision Lifelites 25, our exciting expansion programme, which will take Lifelites’ services to the wider children’s palliative care sector.

Main duties and responsibilities

Training Development

- To support the Lifelites trainer with the design and development of Lifelites’ high quality installation and ongoing learning and development programmes

- To assist in producing bespoke training itineraries, handouts and user guides for installation and ongoing training sessions aligned to Lifelites technology installation schedule

- To support the development and implementation of Lifelites e-learning platform, including course modules and interactive learning

- To assist in creating and publishing simple, intuitive and accessible user guides on Lifelites’ Learning Hub

- To work with the Head of Services, Trainer and Lifelites technology service provider to identify and evaluate new assistive technology solutions suitable for implementation within children’s palliative care settings

Delivery

- To support the delivery of Lifelites face to face and online training sessions

- To deliver ad hoc face to face training, super user and showcase training sessions for Lifelites staff and other partners as required

- To deliver training for new services supported through the Lifelites 25 Programme.

Co-ordination and monitoring

- To work with the Trainer to respond to queries and training requests and schedule installation and ongoing training sessions for children’s palliative care partners

- To capture and record training monitoring data, contributing to internal and external communications, evaluation and reporting processes

- To represent Lifelites within children’s palliative care settings and forums, providing feedback for Lifelites’ staff on emerging issues as required

General

The Role

We now seek a Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Research Manager to deliver a step change in organisational capacity in the MELR space, develop our approaches to data collection, and coordinate planning and reporting processes.
