An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced social and digital media professional to join the leading international horse charity World Horse Welfare.
The Social and Digital Media Officer plans, creates and publishes the charity’s social media and digital communications, ensuring accurate content and the right brand look, feel and messaging. Working to the Head of Communications and with the wider team, you will organise and proactively seek out stories and other content from across the charity to engage audiences through our digital media channels, including social platforms, the website and email. A key part of this role is testing and refining approaches to increase reach, engagement, website traffic and donations and to rigorously monitor and evaluate results to inform further activity.
We are looking for someone who has experience in the management of social media channels, a passion for social and digital media with a creative approach to engaging online audiences. You will possess first-rate written and oral communications skills, digital content creation including images and video, excellent attention to detail and the ability to write quality copy in a variety of styles quickly. You must be proactive, confident and capable of working with people at all levels in a variety of spheres. You must have a flexible approach to your work and be willing to work outside of normal office hours where necessary. Equine knowledge and experience is highly desirable.
The role is based in Norfolk and is a hybrid split of 2 days in our head office in Snetterton and 3 days at home. You may be required to attend events around the UK and visit the charity’s four rescue and rehoming centres to gather content.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Response are looking for an enthusiastic & creative individual to join our Communication & Fundraising team as Senior Digital Marketing Manager. The Senior Digital Marketing Manager will lead the development and implementation of Response’s social media strategies, overseeing both paid and organic content to raise awareness of the organisation’s work, connect with key stakeholders, and drive digital fundraising. Your role

About the candidate

THE ROLE
This is a senior leadership role at The Girls’ Network with strategic and operational responsibility for the successful delivery of our mentoring and ambassador programmes. You will lead a geographically dispersed, home-based programme team, ensuring high-quality, girl-centred delivery that meets our organisational goals and supports our long-term impact. As the charity’s Safeguarding Lead, you’ll oversee safeguarding strategy and decision-making, and play a vital role in championing best practice across the organisation. You’ll also be accountable for the mentor journey - from recruitment and engagement to retention, and act as our in-house expert on mentoring and impactful interventions for girls and young women. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and data-driven decision making, this role is key to shaping and evolving our programme offer to meet the needs of the girls we serve.
Key Activities
Programme Delivery
- Operational ownership and accountability for the successful delivery of The Girls’ Network programmes, in line with our strategic aims and operational targets.
- Ownership and accountability for operational safeguarding decision-making in relation to programme delivery.
- Leadership of implementation and compliance of processes and procedures in the programme team, to ensure best practice, quality and consistency.
- Be accountable for our volunteer mentor community, including the mentor experience, engagement and retention. Ownership of our mentor recruitment retention strategy and ongoing activity.
- The organisation’s subject matter expert in relation to mentoring programmes and impactful interventions for girls and young women more widely, to inform the work we do.
- Ownership of data utilisation for effective ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the programme, to inform continuous improvement and progress to enable reporting to key stakeholders, including the CEO and trustee board.
- Oversight of the Ambassador Programme, including developments and enhancements to our delivery, in line with our strategy. This includes improved integration of the ambassador community to the rest of our programmes, enabling wider participation and great long-term impact.
Design and Development
- Develop and implement the programme’s operational delivery plan, in line with broader strategic objectives.
- Introduce an effective way of making iterative programmatic changes to enable continuous improvement and ensure we deliver a programme of consistently high quality, that remains current and flexes to the needs of the girls we support.
- Ensure a girl-centred approach to all programme delivery and development.
- Work closely with the Fundraising team to align partnership activities, managing high profile relationships relevant to the programme and identifying opportunities for joint-working and income generation.
- Identify needs and opportunities for innovation and growth and pilot new programme elements to deliver impact and, when appropriate, revenue
Team Leadership
- Effective leadership and direction of a programme team who are entirely home-based and widely geographically dispersed.
- Line management of senior members of the programme delivery team, the Programme Co-ordinator and MERL Manager.
- Foster a team environment in-keeping with our organisational values.
- Ownership of the professional development of programme delivery team members. This includes enabling new members of the team to have the tools to deliver effectively, as well as the ongoing development of existing staff.
- Ownership of recruitment of programme team roles, with support from the People & Culture Manager.
Safeguarding
- Named Safeguarding Lead for the charity with ultimate accountability for Safeguarding decisions.
- Working with Safeguarding Officers, ensure policies are kept up-to-date and reflect best practice.
- Review any key training and material, especially that which is shared externally.
- Ensure all staff and trustees undergo the appropriate training needed to meet their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Overall responsibility for the safeguarding phone, and any rota established for this.

St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response, Falls response and Night Time Economy) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). There is also a buoyant social enterprise network which delivers first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.
Job Summary
Young Responders is an exciting project that started delivering street first aid sessions during 2023 as part of St John Ambulance. The project was created to engage and empower young people from diverse communities who face the greatest health inequities to become active health citizens, through practical physical first aid and mental awareness sessions relevant to the challenges they face.
The programme is aimed at young people aged 11 to 25, who would not typically come through our doors delivering first aid training to young people from under-served communities. In 2023 the Young Responders team delivered session to almost 16,000 Young People and over 2024 they aim to reach a further 20,000 Young People, if not more.
Working as part of the team as a Facilitator you will support the growth of the service and be responsible for directly leading and delivering first aid training sessions with community organisations and educational settings. This role will also offer pastoral support to our growing Volunteer team offering mentoring and guidance to those delivering sessions supporting their welfare and wellbeing.
This is a 35 hours per week role and we are looking for someone who is empathetic and feels passion about supporting Young People. The role is to cover London so travel is essential.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience in Youth Work or working with young people in a community context
- Experience of planning and/or the delivery of community-based training
- Experience of safeguarding and willing to undertake Safeguarding training relevant to the role

Role Summary
The Communications and Fundraising Manager is a critical role within the organisation, working collaboratively with colleagues across Together Women to increase awareness of our work, grow our external communications presence, increase digital engagement and increase public fundraising.
This is an exciting and dynamic role which will balance operational delivery of communications and fundraising activity, with a strategic approach to growing the impact of our communications and funds raised via public donations.
We’re looking for a talented and creative communicator, with previous success in the growth of communications engagement and/or fundraising, and experience implementing strategies and working to targets.
You will have experience creating compelling written, visual and verbal content for a range of audiences, and be confident managing digital channels and platforms.
You will be a positive and effective collaborator, who can build relationships internal and externally, with the skill to spot opportunities and make the most of them.
You will also have experience implementing and adhering to key compliance frameworks, such as UK GDPR, PECR and/or Fundraising Code of Practice, and experience of working with databases or CRM systems.
Key Accountabilities
External communications strategy and planning

Public Fundraising
- Develop and implement a new public fundraising strategy, in collaboration with Centre Managers, Directors and our CEO, with an initial target of £200,000 in the first 2 years, and ambition to significantly increase over the long term.
- Build a pipeline of opportunities, develop pitches and secure new supporters and funds, with a particular focus on Corporate, Grant Funders, Philanthropy and Community supporters.
- Increase Gift in Kind donations to support Centre and Central operations
- Develop and deliver donor stewardship strategies, to engage and retain donors long term.
- Ensure robust fundraising compliance, processes and procedures in place, and ensure regular review of this, including processing, recording and thanking donors
- Work closely with our Data and Impact team, to ensure any fundraising data is processed and stored in line with UK GDPR and Data protection principles.
Internal Communications
- Support delivery of our internal communications strategy in collaboration with Directors and Managers.
- Create and maintain all staff communications on SharePoint.
- Create and distribute regular staff updates, quarterly newsletters and staff surveys.
- Support planning and delivery of key staff events, such as our annual staff away day.
PR and media
- Identify media opportunities, and support Centre teams to generate local media coverage, and identify opportunities for national media coverage.
- Ensure robust processes are in place for securing and recording media permissions.
- Draft press releases as required, and create PR templates.

- Ensure clear processes in place for managing emergency media responses.
