OVERVIEW AND JOB PURPOSE

Pump Aid is a dynamic, award winning and growing organisation, which is promoting a radically different approach to aid and development in the WASH sector by establishing Malawi’s first social impact business (Beyond Water) focused on delivering reliable access to clean water for rural communities. We challenge conventional development programmes by taking a business-based approach that ensures long term sustainability and impact for the communities we work with. Clean water results in better health, increases educational attainment and reduces inequality for women and girls across Malawi.

To support our mission we are recruiting a Communications and Fundraising Officer to help deliver on our ambitious growth plans to reach 2 million people by 2030. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated person with strong communication and interpersonal skills, who can plan and create compelling communications to increase awareness of our work and engage new and existing supporters. Furthermore, you will lead on key areas of our fundraising strategy including annual fundraising campaigns, individual giving and small trusts and foundations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• You will lead on defined elements of Pump Aid’s fundraising strategy: scoping, applications, reporting and management (to largely small to medium sized trusts and foundations, community funders and individuals.)
• You will develop and manage a schedule of compelling communications across a number of channels including social media, web and print that will grow engagement with Beyond Water’s mission.
• You will support the Head of Development to pitch to social impact and philanthropic investors by finding creative ways to differentiate ourselves from traditional approaches to international development.
• You will take responsibility for managing and administrating fundraising income, using Salesforce CRM to keep up to date records of donations, keeping donors updated through regular reports and leveraging annual campaigns including the Big Give Christmas Campaign to maximise individual giving donations.
• Maximise the value and duration of donor support through excellent stewardship and relationship management.
• While office hours are notionally 9:00am to 5:30pm, the demands of a business focussed on Africa, with donors in the UK, USA, Europe and Asia mean a degree of flexibility is required.

Candidate Profile

1. Strong experience in planning and executing communications plans across a variety of mediums (social media, website, blog posts, impact reports) to grow awareness and engagement with the work of our social enterprise

2. Demonstrable success in fundraising within the charity sector; scoping, prospecting, proposal writing and reporting.

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present to a variety of audiences

4. Experienced in home working and able to self-motivate and develop and execute personal work and action plans with limited face to face supervision

5. Demonstrable ability to prioritise and manage conflicting outcomes and objectives and ensure the right job is completed at the right time

6. Works well in a small, dynamic team

7. High level of computer literacy – Canva, Microsoft Office, Salesforce or similar CRM software

8. Well organised and can prioritise work to meet deadlines

9. Experience working in international development is preferable.

What you’ll do

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with a pipeline of donors and prospects 
• Deliver pipeline activity and income targets
• Secure and deliver a high volume of donor/prospect in-person touchpoints, involving Parkinson’s UK senior leadership in key relationships 
• Deliver first-class stewardship by maximising engagement opportunities within our stewardship programme
• Manage the day-to-day activity of our fundraising board and secure new gifts through their networks
• Work with our Nurse Appeal senior volunteer donors to build your pipeline
• Lead on prospecting projects, collaborating with the prospect research and wider colleagues across the charity

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a refuge worker within a refuge service, supporting women and their children fleeing domestic abuse. Your responsibilities will include supporting and advocating for women and children, taking part in the on-call rota, managing day to day running of the refuge; health & safety, safeguarding, supporting the service and deputy manager. 

Some of the key accountabilities are: 

• Providing practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse in accordance with Refuge’s philosophical principles. This will include conducting  key work sessions on a regular basis and keeping casework records up to date.  

• Welcoming new residents, explaining and arranging for them to sign occupancy agreements, ensuring that they are aware of their options for moving on to more permanent accommodation and to develop a proactive move on strategy for individual residents.  

• Establishing the risks to, and the needs of survivors of, domestic violence and their children through assessing their practical and emotional support needs throughout their stay at the refuge.  

• Developing individual support and risk management plans which address the risk of harm to survivors of domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse and their children, and to ensure that such plans are in place for each resident.  

• Ensuring that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the service manager, or if unavailable another manager.  

• Working in partnership with other agencies and to advocate for survivors to ensure their needs are met.

Main purpose of the job:

The CEO is responsible for the growth, development and performance of the charity and for shaping and delivering an impactful and sustainable strategy in line with our mission and aims. Person specification:

• Proven track record as a CEO or Board-level senior leader, ideally in a non-profit organisation

Working Well Trust is a mental health and employment charity in London.  All of our projects share the aim of improving the lives of people with mental health support needs, physical disabilities, learning disabilities and/or complex issues through training and employment. This role will be working with clients who have mental or physical health support needs, wanting to gain paid employment.

We are recruiting employment support workers for a new primary care Individual Placement and Support (IPS) employment service in the London Borough of Enfield.

Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training on the IPS model and in supporting people with mental and physical health issues. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental and physical health challenges, either personally or through a close contact.

You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in health, and the role it plays in the workplace. The successful candidate will need to become comfortable in approaching employers, persuading them to use our service, working with them to recruit our clients to fill vacancies and sustain employment.

No prior experience in IPS is required. The role we are recruiting for is as follows: 

Full time: 35 hours per week - these roles will be based onsite in the community 4 days per week and work from home 1 day.

You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental or physical health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences. You will deliver the IPS approach (for which training will be given); providing person centred support and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment. This role sits within the Community Education and Training team, working to support our learners to access, complete and progress through our wide range of adult learning provision. The main focus will be on providing additional support for learners who need wrap-around support relating to a range of additional personal and educational needs. • The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering a workforce development plan to grow and maintain a workforce to enable an all year-round multi-sport offer in our priority places.
• The post holder will be responsible for leading the design, development and delivery of the StreetGames Workforce Development offer for the network of over 400 locally trusted organisations (LTOs) in London & the Southeast.
• The post holder will work with LTOs in the StreetGames network to enable them able to access workforce development opportunities that helps them to build capability and capacity, so they are better able to utilise the power of sport to transform young lives & underserved communities – which is core to the StreetGames mission and collective End Game.
• The post holder will work together with the StreetGames training academy and the network support teams to ensure that all LTOs in the network can access the StreetGames core offer appropriate to their workforce needs.
• The post holder will be supported by and work closely with the Development Director of London & Southeast, the Sport 4 Good Development Manager, National Training Academy and the wider StreetGames team.
• The post holder will adopt a ‘learning approach’ and regularly gather, and share, learning and good practice with LTOs and other strategic stakeholders from across the region. The post holder will require a blend of interpersonal skills, youth work, workforce development and sport specific knowledge.
• The post holder will showcase and demonstrate the positive impact that the StreetGames Training Academy & Workforce Development programmes will have on the network of locally trusted organisations to cement our reputation as an action-taking & doing national charity.
• The post holder will work with other regional leads and the central team to review, evolve, innovate and create our training academy offer to ensure it grows and develops so we can continue to meet the needs of our network & our young people in and out of our main priority places.
• The post holder will be required to engage and support LTOs through a range of approaches, including digital engagements and face-to-face meetings.
• The post holder will work with the fundraising and sustainability lead to review potential pipelines for more investment to deliver more training and workforce development opportunities across the region.
• The post holder will prioritise workforce development in our main priority places (Brent, Tower Hamlets, Barking, Lambeth, Haringey, Thanet) but also make sure organisations from elsewhere can still access a quality training and workforce offer to help them support young people through Doorstep Sport delivery.

A lot of people know NCT for our antenatal classes, and we want to continue to support as many parents and families as we can to access evidence-based information. But we are also much more than this. We are a charity that campaigns on the issues that matter to parents. We run breastfeeding and infant feeding support, provided by specialist counsellors. We run thousands of free community activities and events across the UK, led by our fantastic volunteers and peers. And we support women and families facing specific challenges, such as social isolation, feeding difficulties or poor mental health.

Our Hackney Parent Support project is commissioned by Hackney Council, to offer infant feeding support across the region in both community and hospital settings and parenting courses for families throughout the Hackney region. The support is delivered by staff and volunteer peer supporters.

We are seeking a capable service delivery manager who is passionate about supporting parents and infant feeding to lead this project.  This role is community-based and will include travel across the Hackney region with some homeworking (expenses will be reimbursed).

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing the parent support project in its entirety across the region. Some of the key responsibilities of the role include:
 

· Leading on perinatal peer support across the region.

· Managing the project staff team.

· Having a good working knowledge and understanding of the local demographics in the Hackney area and ensuring all services are accessible and inclusive.

· Engaging with communities through networking with other local organisations.

· Report progress on project status, timelines and delivery against key performance indicators.

· Participate in local perinatal networking/task and finish projects, so that the programme is an integral part of the local perinatal and infant feeding provision landscape and is able to advocate for and chaperone perinatal service users at a strategic level, raising the profile of NCT’s perinatal offer locally and nationally.

You must have good communication skills and be able to build relationships and create a rapport with a wide range of people easily. This is a large project and covers multiple locations so you must be able to confidently prioritise your own work, be highly organised and able to work independently.

Being able to make decisions and respond appropriately to our commissioners, staff, peer supporters and parents and other external stakeholders is essential, alongside good IT skills– including Outlook, Word, and Excel – and you must have good attention to detail.
 
It is essential for this post that you undertake the training to become an NCT Breastfeeding Peer Supporter. This requires lived experience of breastfeeding. The training can be undertaken within your working hours. There will also be training on the EPEC (Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities course) provided by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The role is between 28 - 35 hours per week which will be predominantly Monday to Friday within the working day, however, will include occasional evening and weekends. This is a community-based role travelling across Hackney borough, with some home working.
