Job Summary:
As Secretary General of the NRA and Chief Executive of the National Shooting Centre Limited, the NRA’s commercial enterprise subsidiary, you will be responsible for leading the management and operations of the organisations, as well as implementing the overall vision for the charity working with the Trustees. The role involves a high level of responsibility, with pivotal decision-making that affects the future of the charity and its beneficiaries.
Working closely with the NRA Board of Trustees and NSC Board of Directors you will develop the long-term strategy, and business plans of both entities and ensure they comply with the law and regulations applicable to each, but in particular the relevant Charities legislation.
As the main driver of the organisation, the Secretary General is ultimately accountable to the NRA’s council of trustees and works closely with them to achieve the charity's objectives.
Within this role, you will be expected to oversee all operations, including financial management, programme development, and stakeholder engagement. The Secretary General and Chief Executive will also be expected to develop and approve strategies for the charity and communicate them to internal and external audiences.
Acting as ambassador for the NRA and NSC, you will provide and be the public face for campaigns and build relationships with stakeholders in national and local government, the wider shooting community, media and business.
You will play a key role in motivating and engaging staff, membership, volunteers, and affiliated organisations.

Main Duties:
- Lead the development and execution of strategic plans, aligning objectives with annual budgets.
- Build and manage relationships with political, military, and governmental stakeholders.
- Monitor key performance indicators to assess financial health and organisational impact.
- Oversee all operations, including financial management and HR policy adherence.
- Represent the NRA and NSC as a national governing body and an important voice for the shooting community.

Personal Responsibilities / Duty Holdings:
- Range Safety Certificates: Oversee the safety of the Bisley rifle ranges with guidance from professional staff.
- Competency & Training Certificates: Ensure shooters’ qualifications on Bisley and MoD ranges.
- Registered Firearms Dealer / Explosives Licence: Manage the possession and use of firearms, ammunition, and components. The successful candidate will need to meet the application requirements in line with relevant firearms and health and safety legislation, including police background checks and medical assessments.
- Home Office Authorities: Maintain permissions for specialised firearms use.
- Member Director, British Shooting: Represent the NRA in the Olympic and Paralympic Shooting activities.
- Council Member, British Shooting Sports Council: Represent NRA interests in the wider shooting community.
About You:
The successful candidate will have a commitment to the NRA’s mission, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work collaboratively with the Board, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
Knowledge / Experience

The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified Accountant, part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively produce information for financial stakeholders across the Trust.
- Be an experienced treasury and accounting professional who can confidently monitor cashflow, lead in liquidity reporting and forecasting, and manage working capital and analysis.
- Have experience working with banks, bank accounts, purchase ledger and procurement teams to promote effective and strong relationships.

The Role

About the role
Working as a member of Groundwork’s Local Programmes Team the postholder will develop, deliver and sustain programmes of waste education activity and learning and with communities across South Tyne and Wear. The post will be based at the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership’s (STWWMP) Visitor and Education Centre at the Campground Waste Transfer Station. This facility is operated by SUEZ and is the regions first centre for dedicated waste education opportunities. This post will provide a valuable resource for Groundwork, the Waste Partnership and SUEZ to achieve their respective organisational objectives.
A bit about you
We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced staff member to develop and lead a programme of community waste education activity across the South Tyne and Wear Partnership area as part of the South Tyne and Wear Waste Management Partnership PFI.
You will have a proven track record of successful project development and delivery backed with appropriate qualifications. Excellent communication skills and an ability to build positive working relationships with a diverse range of partners are essential. Experience of waste and recycling initiatives and a passion for working in local communities, ideally in educational and awareness raising settings, are required.
Based in a purpose built facility you will work largely autonomously to engage and encourage school visits and community ownership. You will develop and deliver an exciting programme of waste education sessions suitable for a range of centre users. Working five days a week the post will require outreach work across the South Tyne and Wear area as well as regular evening and weekend work.

Last year, 136,000 young people approached their council for help as they were homeless or at risk of being homeless. Even more alarming is that figure represents an increase of 58% from six years ago. Youth homelessness costs the UK economy an estimated £8.5bn, largely due to unemployment, and so the challenge can feel huge. But we already have the resources to solve it within the built environment sector. And that is where LandAid comes in.
We use our links to the UK’s property industry, harnessing its members’ direct capital, assets and skills to help tackle youth homelessness by awarding grants and investing in frontline charities, providing financial support, and brokering free advice and expertise to increase the impact of their support.
The Chief Financial and Operating Officer is an important new role for us, created to ensure we achieve our ambitions over the coming years by focusing on delivering better quality of management information, insights and analysis to the Board and leadership to inform decision making. A key early component of the role will be to develop a detailed four-year financial plan in line with our organisational strategy. You will also look to invest in our internal operations by driving continuous improvement and exploring emergent technologies that offer us the ability to deliver greater real-time insights to and efficiencies for our teams. Role Description
The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) will lead in the development and implementation of the Cathedral's financial strategy and objectives, providing expert financial guidance and support to Chapter and senior colleagues to develop strategy to deliver Chapter's vision. The postholder will ensure law and regulatory compliance and that all aspects of financial planning and management are conducted to provide accurate, relevant and timely financial information to the Cathedral, Chapter and St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
The CFO will play a lead role in advising the Chair of Finance and Chapter. They will attend all Chapter and Finance Committee meetings.
The CFO is a member of the Cathedral's Senior Management Team and will deputise for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on occasions.
Key Responsibilities
The CFO will support the Facilities Manager in the development of the Cathedral's Property portfolio and our Net Zero Carbon Strategy.
Strategic:
- Overall responsibility for the finance function ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of management accounts, budgets and cashflow reports and annual accounts for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
- Work with the COO and senior members of staff and clergy in developing the Cathedral’s commercial strategy and delivery of Cathedral Master Plan.
- Providing strategic business planning support to all commercial and charitable operations.
- Be a part of the Senior Management Team taking a leadership role across the whole of the organisation, supporting Chapter and Heads of Departments, and working constructively with the COO and Chair of Finance, Finance committee and Risk Audit and Review committee.
- Proactively asses the impacts on finances to identify and mitigate any significant risks
- Communicate the Cathedral finances to a range of stakeholders as required (e.g. Cathedral congregation, volunteers, funders, donors etc).

- Oversee the introduction of a coherent pay scale for the Cathedral and Enterprises.
Operational:
- Line manage and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure the effective management of the Cathedral finances including areas such as payroll and pensions.
- Oversee the preparation of year-end reports and financial statements for the Cathedral, St Edmundsbury Cathedral Trust and Enterprises Ltd.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manger to review the presentation of our Annual Report and Accounts.
- Produce and oversee the annual budget.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Responsible for ensuring an effective routine of internal and external audit.
- Helping Chapter with the process for re-tendering for new auditors from time to time.
- Oversight of the various requirement of HMRC, including VAT, PAYE, and NI.

- Oversight and authorisation of claims for Gift Aid, and projects under the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
- Ensure effective financial controls are in place.
- To ensure that the Cathedral's restricted funds and investments are effectively managed and accessible to support cash flow or key projects as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, financial policies, regulations and all relevant legal frameworks, together with appropriate management and financial controls and reconciliations are in place, and that the Cathedral has effective banking arrangements.
- Critically assess whether the Cathedral’s accounting software SAGE is appropriate and fit for purpose.
- Support departments across the Cathedral with project development by advising on financial and commercial plans and help develop capital projects and generate business cases and financial forecasts for major developments, undertaking effective tendering for works, and to fulfil the reporting requirements, and their terms and conditions, for donors and grant-making bodies.
- Work with the COO to effectively manage contracts held by the Cathedral (e.g. maintenance, utilities, IT, etc) and ensure value for money.
- Be the lead liaison on the Cathedral’s relationship with our Bankers, Insurers and Investment Managers.
- To support the COO and Director of Enterprises in ensuring that the activities carried out by Enterprises are properly costed, and that all business plans are robust, generating positive returns, with stocks correctly accounted for, reducing the risks wherever possible.
- To ensure the Cathedral invests and prioritises its commitment to the Cathedral's Net Zero strategy.
Governance:
- Attend Chapter meetings and provide regular written and verbal reports.
- Work with the Chair of Finance, Dean and COO to ensure that management information is presented in a transparent way that enables strategic decisions to be taken by Chapter.
- Attend the Finance Committee meetings, liaising with the Chair of Finance to ensure the committee functions well with papers being sent out in a timely way.
- Attend the Risk, Audit and Review Committee meetings.
- Review any governance arrangements related to finance (e.g. Statement of Delegated Authority) at appropriate intervals.
The Abbey of St Edmund: a Millennium of English History of West Suffolk:
St Edmundsbury Cathedral along with its partners West Suffolk Council and English Heritage have been awarded a grant by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
- The CFO must work closely with the project manager to mitigate any financial risks to the Chapter.
- To oversee and authorise financial claims to the project.
- To attend project board meetings if and when required.
Property:
- To provide support to the Facilities Manager in the production and implementation of the property strategy ensuring that it is well considered; investments in the property portfolio are proportionate and effectively delivered; and the returns from rented property are maximised.
- Oversee financial claims and grant funding processes for fabric work.
- Be responsible for developing and implementing our strategy in relation to residential property.
- Oversee residential commercial property leases and transactions.
- Ensure that our property assets are maintained effectively.
- To support and deliver the Cathedral’s Net Zero Carbon Strategy to include reducing energy costs on the Cathedral Carbon Footprint.

You will be a Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead who is passionate about supporting MAC-UK’s objective of working collaboratively with young people, innovating services and systems and their approach to mental health, to address health and social inequalities. We aim to support services to be more accessible, flexible and responsive to excluded groups, and to change the systems that lead to and maintain inequality. This role will have management responsibilities and is ideal for someone who is looking to apply their proven management and therapeutic skills alongside the area of social action.
We are very excited to be part of a pilot service, new in England working as part of a consortium of four organisations, alongside Lambeth Council. This will be a residential support service for young people aged 16-24 years at risk of serious youth violence, who are already caught up in the criminal justice system and at high risk of remaining part of the system. You will be working across three London properties alongside a large multi-agency staff team made up of experts by experience/profession in psychology and therapy; youth work; offending; education, training, and employment (ETE) and housing. The service will work creatively and holistically to enable young people to exit environments involving youth violence, identify and reach their goals and aspirations, move on successfully to appropriate independent living, and importantly to sustain this life. Wherever possible staff and young people will co-produce what this service looks like and what activities the young people engage in.
