Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will play a key role in the oversight of the daily financial operations and line management of the finance team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy across all financial functions. This includes producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts, budgeting, and reforecasting, as well as providing guidance to finance and non-finance colleagues.

Additionally, the role involves preparing annual accounts, supporting external audits, and fostering a collaborative team environment. The Finance Manager encourages knowledge sharing and multi-functional working to maintain seamless operations, particularly during high-demand periods or team absences.

Financial Management and Reporting 

• Manage and oversee day-to-day finance operations.

• Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Complete and submit quarterly VAT returns in compliance with HMRC regulations.

• Maintain and update the fixed asset register for accurate financial reporting.

• Assist with year-end financial processes and external audit requirements.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Develop management reporting packs, budgets, and reforecasts.

• Provide financial insights to support decision-making across departments.

• Process and post nominal ledger journal entries, including payroll reconciliations.

• Support funder reporting requirements in collaboration with delivery and core teams.

Leadership & Team Development

• Provide effective line management to a small but busy finance team.

• Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring team members develop confidence and skills.

• Foster a supportive team environment that encourages cross-functional working.

• Document and improve finance processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Projects & Compliance

• Lead ad hoc finance projects, including Gift Aid claims and fixed asset reviews.

• Ensure compliance with charity financial regulations and HMRC requirements.

Reporting to the Director of Programme Delivery and working in close collaboration with subject matter experts responsible for the four workstreams of the programme (Advocacy & Policy, Research, Scalability and Construction), your role will be responsible for all aspects of programme management and coordination, reporting and monitoring. You will also work closely with the Fundraising & Partnerships team to support high quality partnerships and strategic relationships.

To support Habitat for Humanity GB’s (HFHGB) vision of a decent home for everyone, the organisation has recently completed a strategic review, resulting in a new National Strategy and an organisational restructure, to ensure the organisation is able to deliver the Strategy impactfully, efficiently and effectively.

The Empty Spaces to Homes Programme Manager will work across the organisation to coordinate and monitor delivery of activities sitting within the programme. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Programme Management and Coordination:

•  Responsible for programme management of the ES2H programme. Working with the Director of Programme Delivery, and with Subject Matter Experts who are responsible for the four workstreams of the programme (Advocacy & Policy, Research, Scalability, Construction).
• Responsible for the development and utilisation of high-quality programme management tools and internal coordination forums, including for programme planning, performance monitoring, communication, internal and external reporting.
• Working with others, support the development of appropriate Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks.
• Work with Subject Matter Experts, the ES2H Coalition and other partners on the continuous improvement of the ES2H Toolkit, supporting new ideas to fruition, developing content into engaging and appropriate documents and other required communication and programme tools.
• Support Subject Matter Experts and others where appropriate to develop programme and project related reports, to develop proposals and communication content, support impactful partnerships and provide project-related administration capacity.

External communication and partnership management:

• Support external events and activities as well as high quality partnerships and strategic relationships.
• Work with the Fundraising & Partnerships team to support high quality partnerships and strategic relationships through provision of content for external communication, programme updates and reports, and the maintenance of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks.
• Lead the coordination of the ES2H Coalition and support the development and management of other programme related networks and groups.

Budget management, reporting and monitoring:

• Support the Director of Programme Delivery to develop the ES2H programme and project budgets.
• Coordinate with subject matter experts to monitor and track programme spend, flagging issues and risks, and ensuring regular reports are available for budget holders and the Finance Team.
• Provide regular inputs and updates for relevant sections of the organisational Performance Framework, Risk Register and any other operational requirements.

Person profile:

• Strong experience of programme and project management, coordination and monitoring.
• Experience of working in a similar organisation, collaborating across teams and operating in a highly effective way across a diverse, networked structure.
• Experience of producing impactful content for programme tools and reports, external events, website and other digital platforms.
• Good budget management skills, and a working understanding of Excel.
• Understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning tools and approaches.

The Quality and Performance Manager will be responsible for cultivating a culture of excellence, emphasising high performance, quality, and compliance to exceed targets across the external licensed bodies. In this role, you will utilise your skills in stakeholder management, influence and coaching to enhance performance within the licensing area.

Your primary focus will involve collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the seamless and efficient delivery of the professional registration process, tailored to meet the specific requirements of our users and participants. Collaborating closely with external partners and the internal professionalisation and wider Council team, you will enhance and streamline performance by identifying, developing, and assisting in the implementation of innovative and impactful solutions. To support these responsibilities, the role holder should possess knowledge and experience in reporting, analytics, data management, budgeting and enabling comprehensive and robust performance optimisation. Main Duties and Responsibilities

Quality

· Develop, implement, and manage quality practices that meet the requirements of the license, as well as requirements set by Government (NCSC and DSIT) to ensure that processes and procedures are compliant. 

· Manage and improve the quality framework that delivers an excellent standard of assessment, ensuring that the outcomes are exceeded and improving applicants’ experience. 

· Take a lead role in developing the Councils approach to understanding and measuring quality and outcomes through the whole professional registration process being administered by licensed bodies. Highlight areas of improvement, identify solutions and put plans in place,

Performance

· Responsible for the performance management of contracts, ensuring internal and external reporting requirements are adhered to, KPI’s are set, managed and continuously reviewed and reported to LT.

· Oversee all renewal and extensions for client contracts, which will include financial and system performance based KPI’s, including the need to be accountable for the accuracy of financial tracking, cost control, overhead management, and invoicing. 

· Managing audit requirements in relation to the contracts, including preparing documentation, coordination, addressing findings and maintaining records.

· Working with various internal and external partners to identify and define solutions for complex issues, working with the appropriate stakeholders to design and implement positive outcomes.

· Work with the marketing and comms lead to ensure that Marketing and comms plans meet the requirements of the license, and that the Council strategy is aligned to support. 

· Work with the events and membership co-ordinator to highlight opportunities for collaboration with stakeholders and partners that will support Council strategic objectives.

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Managing Director to ensure the charity operates effectively. The Operations Manager will lead on the development of policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, and robust management processes.

The Operations Manager will add to the staff team by bringing a skillset that is grounded in administration processes, excellent IT competence, and a numerate, systemising and detail-orientated mindset.

Our partner is seeking an Interim Director of Finance to offer a 12 month maternity cover. Your appointment will come at an interesting time, and your leadership will support their expansion plans and new projects, whilst leading on business as usual activities.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the organisation’s scale and income-generation strategy. This includes developing flexible cost models, developing budgets for pilot projects and new projects, and identifying alternate funding opportunities.
• Lead in the development of the organisational wide budget, and budgets for donor/funder proposals.
• Provide oversight on the organisation’s systems, controls, procedures and policies; ensuring these are robust and strengthening them as required.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the finance function, and the production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the management team, donors and the board.  
• Lead on full grants cycle management from developing budgets for proposals, grants management and compliance, and reporting. This also includes supporting country offices and implementing partners in strengthening their processes and controls, and grants requirements.
• Lead in the preparation of statutory accounts for the UK and overseas entities; and lead in the organisational and project audits.
• Ensure that the UK and overseas offices remain compliant with tax, legal and regulatory compliance.
• Attend trustee and board meetings .

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years post qualification experience. Finance leader, with a strong all-round technical background in developing and strengthening controls, financial accounting, management accounting & reporting, forecasting/modelling and offering financial advisory support to the senior leadership team and board of trustees.
• Experience in managing a complex multi-currency, muti-year, multi-country grants portfolio and in fund accounting for charities.
• Experience of leading the finance function of a charity working internationally.
• Advanced MSExcel skills, including a high proficiency in financial modelling.
• Wiling to be hands on, working effectively with staff based in overseas and offering guidance and mentoring as required.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written) catering to a range of finance and non-finance audiences.
• Willing to travel to the overseas offices; there will be at least 2 trips a year.

This is a 12 month fixed-term contract that offers remote working from anywhere in the UK. Please note, that the successful candidate will need to be based in the UK and work from the UK for the duration of the contract, and therefore would need the right to work in the UK.

1. Our Supply Chain Transparency Programme delivers a step change in the transparency of the trade and financing of high-risk commodity supply chains – like soy, palm oil and cattle (see Trase).

3. Our Nature-related Finance Programme creates the tools and frameworks to help Financial Institutions, corporates and governments to shift global financial flows away from nature-negative outcomes and toward nature-positive outcomes (see ENCORE and TNFD).

Our tools and platforms are used by Fortune 500 companies, major financial institutions, national and regional governments, and some of the world’s most effective campaigning organisations.

GC is supported by governments including the UK, Norway, Germany and Switzerland; by major trusts and foundations including the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation,  Quadrature and the Waterloo Foundations; and by a growing group of individual major donors and family offices. We have deep partnerships with the UNEP Finance Initiative, Stockholm Environment Institute, UNDP, WWF and ZSL among others.

Purpose

Global Canopy (GC) is looking for an experienced Earth Observation Specialist who can step in and work with the team to deliver an ‘Earth Observation for Nature Finance’ pilot. The pilot project aims to explore and strengthen the role of open access earth observation (EO) data towards leveraging financial mechanisms for nature finance. The pilot will focus on agricultural portfolios, with scope to include forestry portfolios to conduct analysis leveraging ESA Sentinel data on a use case to be defined by a financial service institution project partner. The exact use case will be specified over the coming months and can both be to conduct an analysis leveraging satellite data to assess land use change linked to financed companies and their supply chains or to assess sustainable practices of financed companies in the forestry sector.

Today, few corporations disclose geolocation-specific supplier lists for key high-risk commodities including soft commodities and timber. If and when they do disclose, the data is often at jurisdiction or municipality-level, lacking asset-level detail. As a result, land conversion is difficult to link to corporate supply chains. If the final use case will be to analyse land conversion in financed agricultural supply chains then the EO expert will use Sentinel data to conduct an analysis which enables identification of land conversion events alongside potential underlying drivers, allowing FIs to engage with financed companies and support disclosure. This approach aims to improve FI understanding of land conversion dynamics, enhancing engagement with investees towards more sustainable land management practices. If the use case instead will focus on the forestry sector, then the EO expert will conduct analysis using Sentinel data to identify what types of insights on sustainable forest management practices can be generated from Sentinel data sets and conduct that analysis. The results will be shared and discussed with the financial service institution and the EO expert will need to conduct and lead the technical presentation.

The consultant will be responsible for researching geolocation specific datasets, available open source and in proprietary databases. If the final use case will be for agriculture then the consultant will leverage the supply shed approach, utilising datasets such as the TRASE database and the Universal Mill List to determine supply shed sizes. This will serve as a starting point to address current challenges. If the final use case will be on sustainable forestry then the EO expert will leverage geolocation data from  the financial service institution to overlay with satellite data to conduct the technical analysis.

What work do we want a consultant to do?

Global Canopy is seeking a supply chain EO expert for two to three days a week over the course of 14 months to conduct technical hands-on data analysis work for the specific final use case to be selected. The EO expert will work collaboratively as part of a small team, predominantly collaborating with the project coordinator and the piloting bank to deliver this pilot. The EO expert will be responsible for undertaking the technical data analysis applying Sentinel data to the use case. The successful candidate will research relevant datasets to be tested and support the financial institution to utilise the supply shed approach, if the final use case will be in the agricultural sector, and other relevant approaches if the final use case is for the forestry sector. 

The EO expert must have previous experience dealing with earth observation data.

Applicants should be able to complete the work remotely between May 2025 until the end of June 2026, with the work being completed during 8-6pm UK time (hours are flexible within this period). 

Key Responsibilities

1. Pilot design 

The EO expert, in collaboration with the FI, will be responsible for designing the pilot, identifying the methodology to be used for the purpose of the analysis. 

2. Research, analysis and measurement of supply sheds 

The EO expert will research geolocation specific datasets available open source and in proprietary databases. The EO Expert will conduct the technical analysis using Sentinel EO data to answer the key questions of the use case for either financed agricultural or forestry supply chains. This analysis will link the company data sets with the EO data sets to generate key insights and results to answer the use case questions. The EO expert will write a technical specification report of the analysis as a key output including specification of any data quality issues to be aware of in the use of the results. 

3. Drafting and publication of final output

The final is a paper describing the results of the EO analysis to answer the key use case questions. It will be packaged as a use case for publication detailing the pilot journey, methodology used, technical analysis output, the findings and challenges encountered during the course of the pilot project. This output will be developed to be used as a replicable example by other organisations to illustrate a financial institution’s nature journey. 

Note: The above-mentioned tasks are intended as a guide and may be modified following discussion with the selected consultant. 

Lines of communication 

The consultant will be part of Global Canopy’s Nature-related Finance programme team, working closely with the pilot project coordinator within the Nature-related Finance team, Nature-related Finance Director sitting within the consortium leadership team, as well as external piloting partners and other consortium members.

Location 

The Consultancy is able to be completed on a remote basis but location is required to be within 3hrs of CET.

Timeline 

May 2025 to the end of June 2026. 

Outputs: 

A technical analysis leveraging Sentinel data to answer the questions specified by the use case in either financed agricultural or forestry supply chains. The key questions will be on the nature-related impacts of financed supply chains, either negative or positive impacts for nature. The deliverables include a technical EO analysis answering the use case questions, the technical specifications of methodology and description of algorithms use, description of data leveraged for the analysis. This information will be used by the EO expert to collaboratively draft a use case with the team. 

Requirements

As a successful applicant you will have a strong background in spatial data and analyses, linking agricultural production systems and environmental and social impacts, preferably with a focus on tropical ecosystems and supply chains. You will be motivated by making data and research accessible to a diverse range of audiences, including the private sector, governments and civil society, and ideally have practical experience in how to drive uptake and use of data products by different users. 

Global Canopy is looking for an individual consultant with the skills and experience as detailed below.

1. Deep knowledge of earth observation (EO) datasets and tools. Track record in design of algorithms to analyse satellite data to generate desired insights.

The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland are looking to hire a new member of staff to help co-ordinate and deliver the Finding Futures for Scotland’s Churches Project.

Working closely with Scotland’s Churches Trust, this role will collate country-wide information on both heritage and community value of Scotland’s churches. This will include collating existing information and where knowledge gaps are identified, co-ordinating heritage surveys, and engaging community-representative groups to undertake community value assessment applying the University of Stirling’s Social Value Toolkit. Primary Duties:

• Lead on developing and executing our digital fundraising strategy: working with our Digital Communications Manager to make sure it aligns with and feeds into our wider organisational digital strategy, as well as with the Head of Development to make sure it aligns with our wider fundraising strategy.

• Management of our new CRM: we are in the process of selecting a new CRM solution to support fundraising at THL UK. This role will initially take responsibility for getting this implemented and embedded in the organisation, and then take on the day-to-day management and responsibility of the CRM to make sure we utilise the platform to its full potential and resolve any challenges or issues.

• Coordinating our end of year fundraising appeal: our biggest of the year, working with our Digital Fundraiser to develop engaging content and communications, and with our Major Gifts Fundraiser and Head of Development to secure match funds and major gifts, to ensure we secure valuable income each year (this appeal raised over £100k in 2024). You’ll help set and track the targets and metrics for the campaign, and conduct post-campaign analysis to capture what we learn to inform our future activities.

• With a focus on acquisition, retention, and conversion, work with our Digital Communications Manager to map out and develop donor journeys as part of our wider supporter journeys, using technological solutions to ensure supporters are progressing effectively.

• Regularly assess and analyse supporter and donor data, using these insights to shape our strategy and activities. This includes monitoring engagement levels across various touch points, such as donating, volunteering, taking digital actions, or engaging with our communications, as well as evaluating segmentation and targeting of key audiences. Identify the data needed to inform decision-making and establish mechanisms to capture it effectively.

• Work with the Finance Operations Lead to make sure all supporter and donation data in our CRM is accurate, complete and up-to-date: this includes ensuring that Gift Aid claims are regularly made, donation data is regularly reconciled with our finance system, that we have a holistic picture of our supporters, and we have a regular programme of data cleansing in place.

• Ensure our donation processes are optimised: allowing us to minimise any possible friction on our donation pages and increase the percentage of those going on to make a donation. Ensuring that we have processes in place to capture abandoned baskets and failed payments, and any technical issues which could disrupt our ability to collect payments are monitored and resolved quickly, working with our technical partners or external experts where necessary.

• Oversee the development of any new donation pages or donor data collection forms: whether those are created in-house or by an external consult or agency.

• Make sure THL UK team members are getting what they need from our CRM and technical solutions. Ensuring that they are using systems correctly and consistently, to avoid poor practices which might result in bad data or sub-optimal functionality. Including access and user permissions, notifications and alerts for new donors and donations, training and support, and access to dashboards and reports needed to inform their work.

• Manage any external support required to optimise our CRM and technological solutions: including our CRM partner, payment processing partner and any additional consultants or third parties. Work with them to make sure any technical issues or significant architectural changes are addressed.

• Provide day-to-day support to our Digital Fundraiser: offering advice and guidance,  working with them on campaigns and communications to help us achieve the goals as set out in our digital fundraising strategy, including regular pushes for key income streams such as regular giving.

• Make sure we optimise any available budget to increase acquisition and conversion to help us achieve our strategic goals.

• Keep colleagues up-to-date on our digital fundraising plans and make sure those plans are fed into our organisation-wide planning tools.

Hours:

This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week over Monday to Friday.

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. The pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, to be worked across Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

About the role

We are looking for a values-led, senior People professional to provide maternity cover for the role of our Senior People & Culture Manager. The successful postholder will be responsible for providing high quality generalist People & Culture services at SafeLives, in conjunction with a People & Culture Officer. The role will oversee the smooth running of key HR operations and will be instrumental in building a culture amongst our employees that reflects our values through the provision of excellent People support.

As part of a small, ambitious team you will provide a range of comprehensive, and customer orientated human resources services which support the implementation of SafeLives’ People & Culture strategy. You will be the lead operational HR professional, supported by the Director of People and Culture on strategic matters and a full- time People & Culture Officer on transactional matters, and access to external legal and HR consultancy support when needed. There will be a strong focus on supporting the embedding and development of our culture and behaviours; employee engagement; learning and development, and staff well-being across the organisation.

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.

Contract: Fixed term, maternity vover for 9 months.

Location: Remote with occasional travel to London and Bristol offices.
