The Human Rights Fund gives grants to progressive groups and organisations which actively promote and defend human rights and seek transformational change.We don’t fund the fashionable and well-endowed, but rather seek to identify where there is real need and where we can make a genuine difference.We typically fund organisations which may be doing unique or unusual work, often in challenging circumstances.We are sympathetic to new and recently-founded organisations and those which have difficulty in raising funds.We are pro-active and do not accept unsolicited applications for funds (which explains why we do not have a website).

We are looking for someone who is a self-starter, well organised and numerate.You should be well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of the issues which our grant-funding programme addresses, namely:

• Palestinian rights
• Alternative media
• Violence against women and girls 
• Social justice 

You are likely to have experience in either grant giving, working for an NGO or campaigning.  You will research potential grantees, conduct due diligence, monitor grantees (which includes developing good relationships) and review grants.

Key Tasks

• Within agreed parameters, identify and research potential grantees including due diligence and meeting with leadership of potential grantees 
• Considering core versus restricted or project funding 
• Monitoring grantees and ensuring compliance with grant requirements 
• Annual reviews of grantees including reviewing annual reports etc. 
• Keeping an account of grants using Excel

Experience and Skills

       Essential

• Understanding of and commitment to human rights 
• Experience with an NGO, charity or campaign, preferably in areas relevant to the Fund’s work
• Well-informed about, and have an understanding of, one or more of our funding tracks – Palestinian rights, alternative media, violence against women and girls, and social justice

• Good communication skills – both written and verbal
• Good level of numeracy and the ability to understand a basic budget
• Good IT skills including good working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and other relevant software

• Well organised self-starter, methodical and accurate with good attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative

Terms

• The position is 2 to 3 days (up to 21 hours) per week, working from home.We are flexible on working hours and will discuss exact hours and working patterns with candidates at interview.

About the role

We're looking for a Virtual Fundraising Officer with strong project management skills, a data-driven mindset, and a passion for innovation to join the Virtual Fundraising Team. 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning, delivering, and growing our portfolio of virtual fundraising events, engaging thousands of supporters each year.  As part of a small, dynamic team, you’ll need to excel in managing multiple priorities, bringing energy, creativity, and a drive for continuous improvement.

You’ll use data insights to analyse performance and optimise processes, ensuring our challenges are impactful and supporters are inspired to reach their fundraising goals. By designing exceptional supporter journeys, you’ll play a vital role in enhancing the supporter experience, building strong relationships, and maximising engagement.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the South West and Channel Islands engagement team to support the charity’s exciting work in Guernsey. 

This is a part-time role offering remote working.

Position: S11234 Engagement Officer

Location: Home-based, Guernsey, as part of the South West & Channel Islands locality team. However, extensive national travel will be required as part of this role (may include team meetings or other work related meetings)

The Role

Reporting to the Engagement Lead for the South West and Channel Islands, the Engagement Officer will work with colleagues across the locality to deliver against engagement activity.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the involvement of people affected by stroke to prioritise our work and improve the experience of people affected by stroke.

• Development of the Stroke Group Network in Guernsey.

AMF profile

Against Malaria Foundation (AMF) was founded in 2004 and is a charity that fights malaria in a highly effective, accountable and transparent way.

We do this by purchasing and distributing multiple millions of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) at a time in nationwide universal coverage campaigns. This is the most cost effective way of preventing malaria. AMF receives donations from the public and in the current financial year to date have received over US$125m. AMF is particularly data-focused and monitors and reports on net use and drives and supports innovation to improve the effectiveness of malaria programmes.

AMF is the world’s third largest funder of nets.

AMF has been rated a top charity for all of the last 16 years by independent charity evaluators GiveWell and The Life You Can Save who focus on cost-effectiveness and impact.

We are a team of thirteen highly motivated individuals with different skills and experience. Each person has an important role to play. All team members work remotely with constant communication between them. While the team is small, the impact is big - our net distributions protect millions of people. Our largest programme is in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we are funding 55 million nets to protect 100 million people for distribution during 2024 to 2026. We have ongoing multi-million net programmes in other countries including Chad, Guinea, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda and Zambia.

Role Description

Our activities and commitments are steadily increasing, and 2025 and 2026 will be particularly busy years of distributions, with over ~100m nets planned for distribution. In light of this, AMF is recruiting a Senior Operations Manager to join the operations team and play an important role in ensuring the success of the net distributions. We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills who is able to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking on significant responsibility by leading on several of AMF’s programmes.

The role will include involvement in all stages of a distribution campaign (pre-agreement, net procurement, post-agreement, during distribution, and post distribution) across two main areas:

1. Work with National Malaria Control Programmes (NMCPs)
2. Work with AMF’s independent monitoring partners

Further information

The Senior Operations Manager will lead on several of AMF’s programmes. They will work closely with NMCPs, in country partners, AMF independent monitors, the AMF Operations and Technology teams to ensure the success of AMF distributions.

More specifically, they will manage the distributions through the following stages:

1 - Pre agreement

• Establishing the funding gap
• Establishing the net need, malaria burden, insecticide resistance data
• Working with the Ministry of Health to negotiate and put in place an agreement for the programme

2 - Net procurement

• Working with AMF’s procurement lead to order nets in time for the distribution

3 - Post-agreement

• After signature of the agreement, working with countries to put in place the plans for key elements, in particular: electronic data collection, 5% re-visits, net tracking
• Tender for and select an independent partner for distribution monitoring, and work closely with this partner that will be AMF’s eyes and ears in country

4 - During the distribution

• Track information coming from monitoring partners
• Analyse with the Head of Analytics registration and distribution data and take actions if needed
• Account for all AMF nets

5 - Post distribution

• Tender for and select an independent partner for post distribution monitoring, and work closely with this partner to carry out surveys at 9, 18 and 27 months post-distribution
• Share results with in-country partners and encourage appropriate actions to be taken

Through these stages, it will be important to maintain strong relationships with the key partners, notably the National Malaria Control Programmes, distribution partners and cofounding partners to ensure that distributions are carried out according to the agreements signed between the Ministry of Health and AMF.

These relationships will ensure that solutions can be found constructively to issues that arise during implementation of AMF’s programmes. Aside from the areas above, there will be other work related to AMF Group Operations, dependent on the candidate’s skill set.

Characteristics of the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal and intellectual skills, who works collaboratively in a team and relishes responsibility and the opportunity to learn and develop their abilities. The ideal candidate will be motivated to help improve the lives of those affected by the wider impacts of malaria.

• Fluent French and English

Your purpose

To deliver a high quality experience to schools in your region through expert relationship management and delivery of specific project outcomes: driving high levels of engagement, retention and renewal and enabling Voice 21 to have the greatest impact in each Voice 21 Oracy School.

Your responsibilities

Relationship management and Group Project delivery

• Build and manage strong relationships with member schools and key stakeholders at all levels, across your region in order to add value to their membership, driving engagement, long term loyalty and ultimately impact in our schools.

• Use your understanding of member schools in your region to create ‘wow moments’ across the membership journey (e.g. dropping in to meet with key stakeholders or setting up virtual networking opportunities).

• Manage and deliver projects in your region, specifically our large and highly successful Voice North East group project. This includes working as a leading member of the project team, effectively managing project risks and progress toward milestones, sending communications, and reporting to group commissioners or funders on progress. 

• Represent Voice 21 effectively to external audiences in meetings and events. Develop our regional network through events. Arrange & attend open mornings with current member schools and support with additional event organisation and delivery as required with support from product and events leads.

School journey and experience

• Provide an excellent customer experience for member schools and key stakeholders (e.g. Local Authorities and Multi-Academy Trusts) from sign up through to renewal, acting as the first point of contact for your Voice 21 Oracy Schools.

• Own the membership journey and school experience for your region, including the underlying processes, activities and comms that support membership.

• Gain frontline insights from listening to member schools in your region - collect, track and analyse data about their patterns of behaviour and use these insights to improve their experience.

• Use your understanding of our membership offer to support and guide schools in your region to access member benefits that best meet their needs, are most impactful for their students and steward them towards accreditation (e.g. use diagnostic tools to set action plans for the membership year and signpost to Voice 21 products, resources and events).

• Bring together data (from our CRM system, our Programme team and impact and engagement monitoring) to understand and own the ‘complete picture’ of each school’s member journey in your region - use insights to manage and increase engagement; proactively share insights gained, internally (e.g. with the Programme team about attendance or school feedback) and externally (reporting to a group project commissioner or funder). 

• Own membership renewals in your region, helping the Engagement team to deliver our annual school renewal targets (70%+).

Family Support Lead

As Family Liaison Officer, a big part of your role will be providing tailored support, information and advice to families from diagnosis onwards.  This will include:

o Providing face-to-face support at occasional clinics (normally based in London)

Emotional Wellbeing Lead

As our lead emotional wellbeing practitioner, you will assist in the design and delivery of several of our projects and events.  These will include:

o Providing support and facilitating daily group sessions with young people aged 11-25 at our annual USHthis! summer camp (in 2025, the camp will take place from Friday 25th July - Friday 1st August and you will need to be available for these dates)

o Help to deliver our one-day events in the spring and autumn

o Co-create the Empowerment Programme for 17-25 year olds with Usher syndrome.  This is a pilot programme that aims to support our young adults in developing self-advocacy and identity alongside mentoring through the key milestones in young adult life

o Facilitate 1:1 and group sessions on the Empowerment Programme

o Facilitate monthly virtual USHchats for parents and carers (these take place one evening a month)

Across all aspects of the role, you will need to ensure the safeguarding of and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk who are engaging with Usher Kids UK.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Business Development at Refugee Council

We operate two main service departments supporting refugees (resettlement, employment, and integration) and people seeking asylum (casework, therapeutic support, and social support for adults and children. We also have a smaller Practice Development team supporting Refugee Community Organisations and frontline practitioners to develop their skills and capacity to meet the needs of people seeking asylum and refugees. Our Business Development team sits within our Fundraising and External Affairs team and works closely with our services directorate.

• Our Business Development Officer will lead the researching and mapping statutory commissioners, service delivery partners, and providers to produce a clear picture of service delivery landscape, commissioner interests, and commissioning trends to inform business development strategies across our geographical hub areas.
• They will identify appropriate and influential statutory commissioners (via internal colleagues, LinkedIn, online searches, and related sources) for Business Development colleagues to contact. Through their detailed research they will build an in-depth understanding of commissioner roles and remit, interests, and priority areas of work that will help us influence statutory commissioners.
• They will lead on developing and maintaining content-rich, in depth evidence-based summaries on clients’ and commissioners’ evolving needs for use in proposals, tenders, service models, and strategy documents. These summaries will be highly persuasive and enable to team to influence funders. They will be required to analyse complex data and evidence presenting asylum and refugee trends and figures as well as statutory funding available across a range of sources.

Contract: Fixed term until 31/10/2025.

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (would be open to part time working of 28 hours for the right candidate).
