Age UK are offering a fantastic opportunity for a professional Policy Manager to influence decision makers, develop public policy proposals and manage policy projects. You will be the lead and main point of contact providing specialist support to colleagues on all issues affecting older people relating to fuel poverty, energy markets and warm homes. There will also be opportunity to lead work on other consumer issues, such as scams.
The Policy Team
You will be joining Age UK's Policy team, which is a small unit of five staff led by the Head of Policy and part of Age UK's wider Influencing Division. The post holder will be responsible for leading Age UK's policy and influencing work on the areas outlined above and will work closely with other policy staff and with research colleagues.
You will also work with colleagues in other parts of the organisation including Parliamentary Affairs, Media, and Campaigns. The job is varied - for example, it may include writing a response to a government consultation, working with colleagues to develop a research project, meeting with external stakeholders, speaking at a conference, and responding to urgent media enquiries.
Age UK operates hybrid working between home and our London office. The Policy team all come to the office every Wednesday, on the other days the location is flexible depending on the requirements of your job, which will encompass meetings and events taking place in London.

About the Role
The Marketing Manager (Acquisition) will plan and deliver effective direct response campaigns across paid channels, to build consideration, prompt action and drive income through the acquisition of new individual donors.
A key part of this role will be to lead on the day-to-day management and development of direct response TV (DRTV) and online video which are pivotal channels within our acquisition programme. By identifying the right supporters to target and inspiring them to commit to a regular monthly donation, you'll be a key driver of our Individual Giving supporter base growth and income.
Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you'll build strong relationships and cut through boundaries, in a fast-moving and dynamic environment. Leveraging agile principles, you'll flex and adapt - learning rapidly and responding to change, while keeping our supporters at the heart of everything you do.
In this role, you will:
• Plan and execute direct response TV and online video marketing campaigns, across a range of channels (e.g. direct response TV, bVOD, CTV), with a focus on audience, to drive ambitious income targets.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to attract new supporters – using insight and data to understand our audience's needs and motivations to build long term relationships.
• Work closely with our media buying agency to approve, buy and optimise media. Manage and monitor budgets, analyse daily results and metrics to drive change as needed to ensure marketing performance against KPIs.
• Collaborate cross-squad and with partner media agency to align DRTV and online video with the broader multi-channel paid media plan and integration with our Brand campaign where appropriate.
• Plan and collaborate with in-house and/or external creative and production agencies on the development of new DRTV creative, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Develop and execute creative testing strategies to inspire audience engagement and action.
• Regularly analyse and report on performance across DRTV and online video channels and audiences, providing expertise to optimise results and deliver growth.
• Support and assist with training and supervision of Marketing Executives within the team. Manage, develop and motivate members to retain, and develop capacity, creative capability and talent to provide for succession and ensure delivery of business objectives.
• Partner with Analyst squad members to assess marketing effectiveness, using data-driven insights to foster a test-and-learn approach and ensure learnings are effectively shared across the team, and recommendations implemented.
• Work with Senior Marketing Managers to manage budgets, including planning, reporting, and reforecasting.
• Partner with CRO Specialist and others, to create a seamless supporter experience by ensuring consistency across all touchpoints, driving engagement, conversion and lifetime value.
• Keeping abreast of changes within the direct response TV and online video marketplace, and ensure learnings feed into quarterly planning.
• Collaborate with Save the Children International and other member countries, sharing best practices and insights on the trends of the various activities under its responsibility and helping drive the global production of new content for TV and online video.
To be successful, it is important that you have:
• Demonstrable experience in managing and delivering marketing campaigns across direct response TV or other online video channels.
• Experience in direct response marketing including developing marketing campaigns, data analysis and audience planning.
• Project management experience with a proven ability to plan and manage activity that delivers complex projects on time and to budget.
• Experience of effectively managing external partners to drive performance and continual improvement, such as working with media agencies to plan, buy and optimise media, creative and production agencies.
• Experience of developing fundraising and/or marketing assets to drive action.
• Experience of effective management of campaign budgets, implementing most effective investment decisions in real time.
• Strong numerical and critical thinking skills, specifically the ability to analyse complex data and translate it into tangible information for strategic decision-making.
• Demonstrable expertise in managing budgets efficiently.
• An understanding of attribution and the different models that can be used.
• Strong understanding of the fundraising DRTV media landscape.

About the package and benefits
- Salary range: £35,000 - £42,000 (pro-rata)
- Location: We’re a national organisation with an office in London. All of our team work in a hybrid way, which varies depending on role and location. This role requires at least 1 day per week/fortnight in the office during the induction period. Beyond that, you are required to come to London at least once every 6 weeks.

The Choir with No Name (CWNN) run choirs involving people affected by homelessness across England and Wales. We were founded on the premise that singing with others makes you feel good; it distracts you from all the nonsense in life and helps you to build confidence, skills and genuine, long-lasting friendships. Each choir gets together to rehearse every week and share a meal together at the end of rehearsal, welcoming everyone, regardless of background, characteristics or idiosyncrasies. We want everyone involved in the Choir with No Name to feel they belong in our community.
The Sheffield Choir pilot is being established in partnership with the Archer Project and Sheffield Cathedral, who support homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield. Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm at Sheffield Cathedral. Our rehearsals follow the usual Choir with No Name format of tea, biscuits and a chat before rehearsal, then 1 ½ hours of joyful singing (mostly pop and rock, arranged for mixed ability in 3- and 4-part harmony) followed by a free hot meal for members. Splendid!
We are committed to co-production. Co-production means that people with lived experience of homelessness work alongside others to deliver all aspects of our work. Our Sheffield Choir Manager will be vital in helping us achieve this aim, working alongside choir members to develop the skills needed to steer their own choir projects and fully share the control and direction of the organisation.
The Sheffield Choir pilot aims to run for three months (12 weeks) with space either side for training and evaluation. We hope to be able to continue the pilot beyond the 12 weeks and are actively fundraising to make the Sheffield Choir a permanent fixture in the Sheffield cultural scene.
The Choir Manager will take a central role in the creation of this exciting new choir in Sheffield. The Interim Database Manager role:
As our Interim Database Manager, you will be responsible for the management and ongoing development of our CRM system and all associated data. As a member charity having been established almost 60 years ago and with over 63,000 active members, we have significant volumes of valuable data. We are looking for an interim Database Manager to deliver existing projects and progress future development plans.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in database and data management, a natural interest in data analysis and ideally be an expert in WorkBooks. Citizens Advice Hammersmith & Fulham (CAHF), part of the national Citizens Advice network, is a thriving local advice organisation that provides information, advice and casework support to 12,000 local people per year. We are participating in a GLA funded project to deliver crisis prevention support to those most in need.
At CAHF, we have a Crisis Prevention Adviser who is the first port of call for advice for referrals from community groups. Where the advice required is complex or specialist and a casework approach is required, the client will be referred to you, one of our two part-time Specialist Advisers. We also take referrals from our partner Citizen Advice offices in Westminster, Camden and Islington.
We require an individual who can deliver in-depth and complex welfare and housing advice to vulnerable clients with multiple issues. As our Commercial Projects Officer, you will provide administrative support to the Commercial Projects Team for commercial projects and income generation initiatives.
Acting as project administrator for commercial tenders and projects, you will attend and take minutes at meetings, produce presentations and updates, collate data and update and maintain project logs.
Within our busy Commercial Projects Team, you will undertake project planning activities, organise various work streams and complete admin to enable multiple projects to be progressed. You will support the drafting of tender and project documentation, business case development and the accurate production of a variety of reports to ensure successful project delivery.
Additionally, you will:
- Collate analytical and statistical information
- Support with day-to-day financial administration
- Undertake research and provide briefings on a range of subjects
About You
To be considered as our Commercial Projects Officer, you will need:
- A background in project delivery or support
- The ability to anticipate and adjust for issues, risks or changing requirements, keeping project delivery on track
- Exceptional planning and organising skills
- Good interpersonal skills

The person we are looking for will be well organised, motivated and aware of the nuanced issues affecting diverse and disadvantaged communities. Their duties include arranging training, workshops and outreach visits to create awareness of human rights legislation and the practical impacts in areas with large, transient communities.
The Outreach Worker will act as primary contact for the project and policy work and ensure good working relationships with a range of key contacts including policy and programmes partners.

Duration: 4 year fixed term contract (with a 3 month probationary period)
Hours: Part-time, 21 hours (3 days) per week
Salary: £22,000 per annum (FTE salary = £36,500)
Location: SCA offices at Southall Town Hall, 1 High Street, Southall, UB1 3HA
Holiday entitlement: 15 days
Duties:
- Developing and delivering Human Rights Act based rights training workshops and support sessions
- Analysing human rights law and development in cases and communicating the practical impact of these through outreach visits to local community sector
- Develop and improve our resources and support sessions on the practical use of UK human rights law
- Plan and develop human rights information resources, including guides, handbooks, factsheets
- Arrange short talks for a range of audiences
- Provide commentary via a range of means including blogs and news pieces (for SCA and for other groups and media), research papers, social media, etc.
- Use initiative to identify and forge relationships with new partners and forums
- Act as primary contact for the programme and policy work and ensure effective relationship management and development.
- Ensure good working relationships with a range of key contacts including policy and programmes partners
- Attend training courses and sessions, as may be required
- To ensure inclusion and diversity in all aspects of SCA's operation and work
- To carry out other duties including outreach work, as may be assigned by the Director, from time to time
Person Specification:
Essential characteristics:
- Have at least two year’s experience of working in the charity sector, voluntary sector, or the public sector in a role with some similar role and functions
- Experience of developing and delivering outreach work to build the capacity of people to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to bring about social change
- Understanding of working in the charity sector, and in particular what it means to work for positive change whilst not being a campaign group
- Understanding of human rights law and practice and implications for diverse communities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of people
- Able to receive visitors and to deal with their queries, signposting to other agencies, where required
- Experienced in dealing with work of a confidential nature, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulatory requirements
- Experience of report writing, preparing newsletters, project monitoring reports, publicity and promotional material
- High standard of computer literacy, including experience of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc
- Able to work with project partners and service users from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds within an equal opportunities’ framework
- Work related experience of conducting research either desk-based/legal research and/or participative research directly with stakeholders
- Excellent self-administration and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to a high standard
- Gather monitoring data and produce progress reports and work summaries
- Recruit and train volunteers to assist with project delivery
- To attend meetings and prepare agendas, minutes and other relevant materials
