About the role 

As our Employee Communications and Engagement Lead, you’ll be supporting more than 600 colleagues across England, Scotland, and Wales. 

Our colleagues work in a huge variety of roles and are based in lots of different locations. It’s our job to help make sure everyone has access to the information and tools they need to do their best work, regardless of where they’re based or when and how they work. This might mean making sure they have access to guidance to help them support a vulnerable member (the people we support); sharing information on a new staff benefit, such as our network of Mental Health First Aiders; or an invitation to learn about our latest campaign or fundraising event. 

When it comes to sharing information and bringing people together, your role will be key. We’re well networked across the organisation and have a wide range of communication tools and channels in place, but we know we can do better. You’ll be encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas and to explore your curious side. 

Day to day you’ll work with stakeholders across Crisis to help raise awareness and understanding of our strategic goals and to build engagement and excitement around our cultural ambitions. You’ll contribute to the wider work of the Employee Communication and Engagement team and our priorities for 2024. This includes the ongoing development of a new intranet, embedding Crisis’ new values, building awareness and understanding of Crisis’ strategic aims, and carrying out an audience segmentation exercise. 

You’ll report to the Head of Employee Communications and Engagement and will be supported by our Employee Communications and Events Assistant, as well as colleagues across the organisation who will share their expertise and knowledge and help you to build your own network of peers.

Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK. 

Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as providing social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to legal, medical and educational services. Our Legal Access Department in the UK, provides access to critical legal representation for people seeking asylum and, more than this, supports people through the hostility and difficulty of claiming asylum.

In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, working alongside communities in Calais and Dunkirk to provide warm clothing, bedding and service provision to displaced people who live in appalling and dangerous conditions. 

All of Care4Calais’ operations are supported by a small, dedicated team of staff who supervise large volunteer teams to provide much needed support to communities seeking asylum and on the move in the UK and France. 

About the role: 

Care4Calais are recruiting two Operations Coordinators to support their French operations. 

The aim of the Operations Coordinator role is to support the Care4Calais’ French operations to continue to deliver vital humanitarian NFI (non food item) distributions and essential services. We distribute 6 days a week and provide daily services which include  phone charging sessions, access to hairdressing, bike repair and sewing equipment, activities such as games and language lessons as well as information sharing and refreshments to communities living in northern France. Whilst this is a challenging position you will be given a thorough induction and work alongside experienced team members. 

The successful candidate for this role will be proactive and hardworking with the ability to problem-solve and prioritise effectively. The role would suit someone who is a self-starter, strong team player and excels working within a varied role. Candidates will need strong organisational skills and must have the ability to make numerous important and compassionate decisions each day.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent judgement, initiative, integrity and strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate to a diverse group of people. You will be part of Care4Calais’ core team in France and will report directly to the Head of Field Operations in France. 

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly-committed team of game changers dedicated to improving the lives of refugees.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Providing core operations support for Care4Calais’ operations in northern France 

• Supporting a team of logistics and purchasing specialists to manage new and second hand clothing stock and feed into operational planning for field activities.

• Managing and delivering Care4Calais’ NFI aid distributions and service provision with people on the move at the French/British border

• Managing and supporting teams of up to 40 volunteers each day to provide daily services in Calais and Dunkirk. Including leading daily briefings and health and safety training. 

• Supporting the smooth running of a warehouse and donation storage facility. 

• Working alongside a small staff team to develop processes, procedures and documentation to support the effective running of Care4Calais’ humanitarian operations. 

• Attending external meetings, building and maintaining relationships with partners and key stakeholders which allow Care4Calais’ operations to continue to run smoothly and effectively.

 Essential Skills and Experience: 

• 1 - 2 years experience working in an humanitarian context, for a human rights organisation or with people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds;

• Professional or voluntary experience of working on projects concerning risk management, health and safety, safeguarding and compliance. 

• Self-motivated and used to managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines;

• Able to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders including those from displaced communities;

• Good decision-making and negotiation skills;

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

• Experience working with displaced people or communities on the move, ideally with NFI distribution experience

• Experience leading and managing volunteer teams from varied backgrounds 

• Experience managing warehouse or storage spaces and/or complex logistical and purchasing projects. 

• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English and at least a B2 level of French proficiency. 

• Strong digital literacy, including ability to work on Google Workspace and Office 365;

• Full clean driving licence and experience or willingness to drive vans

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with teams from different cultural backgrounds;

• Baccalauréat, A Level or equivalent academic qualification

• Experience delivering mass distributions of NFI or other aid items in an humanitarian context. 

• Proficiency in one or more of the languages spoken within asylum seeking communities, such as but not limited to: Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Dari, Kurdish Sorani, Tigrinya or Amharic.

It is the RSPB’s belief that respectful stewardship of personal data is essential in retaining the trust of our supporters. You will provide specialist advice on Data Protection (UK GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018) and Fundraising laws and regulations across the UK, EU and internationally. This includes advice on systems and process changes to ensure RSPB operates in a compliant way. The DPO will provide advice in respect of the development of RSPB internal processes, policies and associated functional strategies, programmes and projects.

The Data Protection Officer will lead on investigations and complaints about data breaches and responsible for the management, administration and delivery of matters in relation to Data Subjects Rights, including Data Subject Access Requests, Right to be Forgotten requests. Join Big Local Works (BLW) as our Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement.

Based on a recently refurbished historic market, we want to develop a people-powered regeneration, led by and for local residents, to sit alongside extensive property development happening in the area. 

This new post, funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Charity, requires a skilled and energetic individual to harness and stimulate community energies.

Our approach focuses on involving people from diverse backgrounds and encouraging them to develop their own enterprises and initiatives, especially (although exclusively) related to micro-enterprise and economic participation. We want local people's voices to be heard, but more than that - we want them to take an active part in a community's regeneration..

General Information

Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and community in which everyone can participate.

To make this happen, we maximise local people’s financial and economic wellbeing to reduce poverty and hardship, and give them support to find sustainable, active routes out of poverty, including through employment and enterprise.

We deliver our support in the community through three main services:

• Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
• Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
• Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’

People Powered Regeneration

As well as continuing to offer an ever-wider range of individual support, we now have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment by property developers.

In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local market place, the Blue Market in South Bermondsey.

Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries. We need to pay special attention to BAME, and recent migrant, communities who have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion.

Through our work, we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, and support the regeneration of an area that has long suffered from the effects of deprivation. Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.

Our key goals are:

• Local people have more say over the changes in their local community.

This means that local people are actively involved in the development of place-based community assets, enterprises and projects. Local people will have more influence on local development and regeneration.

• ·A more diverse range of local people work together to improve their community.

This means community members from a wider range of backgrounds become active citizens. There are better relationships and increased collaboration between local stakeholders.

• People feel proud of their local area, and hopeful for the future.

This means stories and messages about the area are more inclusive and welcoming of diverse perspectives and communities. People are better informed, and know more about the opportunities and assets in their local community.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement

Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area's needs, assets and lived experiences.

This role has three key responsibilities:

1. Outreach and engagement with local communities to help them build a stronger voice during regeneration

2. Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people, focused on microenterprise and wider community activity

3. Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities

Key Tasks include

Role overview:

• Apply recognised community organising principles and practices to support the development of new initiatives in the local area.
• Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop a shared voice during regeneration.
• Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives, including those focused on enterprise and wider community activity
• Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
• Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders (including, for example, local councillors, community networks and leaders, and partner organisations), communicating assertively, and with diplomacy and tact.
• Organise Events: Plan and host events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.
• Work closely with the Business Improvement District, local charities and businesses and key strategic partners to help us achieve the overall aims of the People-Powered Regeneration
• Build and maintain a network of contacts among our priority groups and communicate efficiently with each one
• Lead on day to day local communications and marketing, supporting the development of newsletters and online content, with appropriate support and resource
• Contribute to research and evaluation across activities to ensure our work has the best possible impact

ASH Co-op is a thriving tenant-managed housing co-op in Cambridge. We have two part-time staff and are looking for a focused, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic person to take the role on to cover for maternity leave to start from late September. 

This is a varied front-line role involving collecting rent and taking enquiries, including maintenance requests and applications for membership. It also involves monitoring budgets, some basic accounting and general office administration. You must be IT literate with a good working knowledge of excel and will ideally have previous experience of housing work, or a similar office environment.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To be responsible, with our other housing co-ordinator/s, for the day-to-day running of ASH Co-op in co-operation with the membership; deal with outside bodies on behalf of the co-op; keep computer records; maintain and develop office and financial systems; and provide administrative support for working groups.

REPORTING TO 
The Employment Co-ordinators, who are elected by the members on to ASH Co-op’s committee.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All tasks are to be carried out with the relevant Co-ordinators and Working Groups where appropriate.  As a volunteer led organisation, the Housing Co-ordinators will be expected to liaise with working group co-ordinators from time to time to agree how tasks will split between them.  A key responsibility of the Housing Co-ordinators is to provide continuity where volunteers are unable to do so.

The successful applicant will be able to work Tuesdays and spread remaining hours across other weekdays between 8am-7pm when needed. The core office opening hours are 9.30am- 5pm. This role is being offered on a 13 month fixed contract.

ABOUT US
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a world where trees and woods thrive for people and nature. The Trust engages and inspires people to make their difference tackling the nature and climate crisis helping protect, restore and create our vital woods and trees.  

THE ROLE
The Tree Equity Officer will lead on our vision that by 2030 we would like to see the added protection of existing trees and en route to 1 million more trees established in Scotland’s urban areas that currently have a low Tree Equity Score (TES). They will be responsible for establishing and developing partnerships with others to deliver exemplar projects across Scotland that demonstrate and communicate benefits of improving TES. The Tree Equity Officer will Advocate to embed use of TES in Local Area Plans/LA strategy of city authorities and encourage city authorities to raise funding for improving TES in their cities. 

As part of the Scotland Team, they will be responsible for working together collaboratively with other colleagues across the Trust to develop and oversee the delivery of a Tree Equity strategy. They will work with policy and advocacy colleagues to influence local and national government and others to embed Tree Equity as a tool to inform and direct urban forestry and green space delivery and preferably embed within policy.

This is a Hybrid working role, where you’ll work part of your time at home and part of the time from one of our Regional Offices based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our Hybrid Working Policy is flexible, and the frequency of time spent in your contracted office will vary across teams and job roles.

THE CANDIDATE
You will have excellent knowledge, experience and passion for urban forestry and/or urban green infrastructure.  You will also have experience and understanding of the operation of local government and planning. You’ll be able to inspire and influence others to promote and embed Tree Equity delivery. 

A key part of this roles requires programme and project management skills and experience in developing strategies and plans to deliver outcomes, particularly in urban greenspace.

You will have the ability to collaborate with other teams and colleagues to develop and lead the delivery of a Tree Equity strategy to ensure woods and trees are valued and recognised in key policies and decisions at a national level. You’ll have great research and analytical skills being able to communicate and tailor complex information to different audiences, building positive relationships internally and externally using your skills to influence stakeholders.

• Experienced HR or People Partner advising Senior Management Teams and working internationally on recruitment and employee relations.

Job Purpose

This is a critical role, sitting at the heart of hyh, the purpose of which is to provide high quality administrative support to the CEO, coordinate and administer the leadership and governance of the organisation and oversee the smooth running of the office.

Administration and Support for the CEO

• Be a step ahead at all times in providing executive support to the CEO including: diary organisation, making appointments, responding to invitations, dealing with correspondence, and liaising with external partners and arranging travel.
• Conduct research, prepare papers and briefings, produce PowerPoint presentations.
• Project support for organisation wide projects.

Leadership and governance support

• Plan and coordinate the efficient running of leadership and governance meeting cycles, including scheduling meetings, booking venues, circulating documents, collating reports, minute taking, maintaining action logs, arranging refreshments etc. This includes the Board of Trustees and two sub-committees (Governance and Finance), Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Leadership Team (LT).
• Provide high level admin support to other members of the SLT as required (Head of Services, Head of Fundraising & Communications, Finance Manager).
• Coordination and administration of internal staff meetings and communications, including monthly Team Briefings and bi-annual Organisation Days.
• Provide on-going support to Trustees, including responsibility for their induction and on-going training
• Maintain and update trustee records and registers, including Charity Commission and Companies House registrations.
• Manage our policies and procedures and oversee the annual cycle of policy reviews.

Office management

• Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the office, ensuring that it is a great working environment for staff where supplies never run out, the office is clean and tidy, and all staff have the furniture and equipment they need.
• Coordinate a small team of office/admin volunteers to provide excellent support to the wider hyh team.
• Build and maintain service and supplier contracts and relationships, including our landlord, telephones, broadband, lone working devices, phones, printers and cleaning.
• Be the main contact for our IT managed services provider and act as the internal contact point for any  IT queries.

Organisational support

• Support the SLT with our day to day health and safety compliance including administering Health and Safety Committee meetings, carrying out workstation assessments and conducting regular H&S checks and annual PAT testing.
• Support the SLT with our data protection including administering GDPR Committee meetings, managing the relationship with our external Data Protection consultant and acting as the internal point of contact.
• Provide staff induction and on-boarding in relation to the office, IT and equipment.

Skills and experience: 

• Significant experience as a senior Executive Assistant at CEO level.
• Significant levels of office management experience.
• Strong administrative background, ideally with experience working in the non-profit sector but not essential
• Experience managing and overseeing contracts, ensuring the service providers are excellent value for money.
• Experience acting as secretariat to boards of trustees or similar governance bodies.
• Experience managing people in paid or voluntary roles.
• Excellent communicator in formal and informal communications, both verbally and in writing, to all stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate sensitively

Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. • Act as a point of contact for Women in Prisons Core Team including monitoring and responding to communications in shared mailboxes

We are looking for a GP with experience of providing healthcare to excluded groups outside of regular healthcare settings to play a key clinical role in the development and delivery of services that will support equal access to primary medical services for people seeking asylum in contingency accommodation in Northeast London. The outreach service will offer initial health and social assessments, urgent care, and will facilitate GP registration and, and support access to wider healthcare and support services within the area through direct referrals and signposting, and coordination with other local services and partners.

You will lead by example, with your demonstrable experience delivering person-centred, compassionate care to people seeking asylum or other excluded community, as well as deploying your effective advocacy, coordination, and multi-tasking skills. The role requires emotional agility, and resilience, especially when dealing with complex situations such as mental health crises, trafficking, and homelessness, where you will draw on your experience to manage complex situations calmly and compassionately. You will be someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, is committed to high standards of care, and will be able to work productively and constructively within a close knit team by demonstrating an open and responsive attitude and using your excellent communication skills.

You will have strong IT skills and ideally a driving licence to be able to support us to deliver our services in our dedicated mobile clinic vans. You will have the skills to work independently and manage your own and volunteers' health and safety, sometimes working alone.

The Hepatitis C Trust has developed projects nationally whereby peers use their lived experience of injecting drug use and hepatitis C, to provide education and training to increase awareness of hepatitis C, reduce stigma, and promote access to testing and treatment for people living with hepatitis C. 

Do you have experience of working in drug services and with volunteers? Have you been affected by hepatitis C, or have you supported anyone who has hepatitis C? We are looking for a passionate and skilled peer lead who has excellent communication and organisational skills. Alongside a growing team, these posts will continue the development and delivery of the Hepatitis C peer project, recruiting and supporting volunteer peers across Bristol, and also Bath, Weston, and surrounding areas.
