An exciting opportunity to become part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) at Schoolreaders, a dynamic and fast-growing charity based in Bedford. Schoolreaders is a national charity tackling poor literacy through a network of volunteers who provide one-to-one reading support to children in primary schools across the country. We are the largest national in-school child literacy charity, supporting over 28,000 children in over 1,400 schools every week. We have ambitious plans to grow and support many more children in future, so it’s an exciting time to join us.
We are looking for a committed individual to join Schoolreaders to be part of the SMT and wider charity, delivering this vital support to children. As Head of Business Support, you will be coming on board to develop and manage the structure and team that deliver the support functions for the charity, helping keep everything running smoothly. Your team will consist of employees, contractors and third parties where necessary, and you will co-ordinate them to deliver a seamless set of services. At this time the role will line manage two officer roles within the charity, manager several third parties (including HR and IT) and work alongside the Head of Finance.
The Head of Business Support will oversee compliance, governance, HR, IT, facilities, and administrative functions. We don’t expect you to be an expert across all these areas – you might have a strong background in one or two but have the ability to manage these functions and others in the team and have a meticulous eye for detail. You will be expected to have a good understanding of compliance, IT, health & safety and HR to enable you to lead the day-to-day delivery across these disciplines.
Reporting into the charity’s CEO, you will be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT). As part of this you will directly input into the charity’s strategy and annual planning process. The Head of Business Support will also manage the delivery of change within the organisation, tracking projects and raising risks and issues to the SMT.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Day to day oversight of the delivery and development of corporate services functions, to include:
a. Compliance, ensuring that Schoolreaders is compliant with all relevant legislation, data management and safety standards. (H&S, GDPR etc)
b. Risk, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place for managing risk, owning key policies and their review, engaging with staff with information and training, liaising with the Board and with the Director responsible for Safeguarding and being the main point of contact for whistle blowing.
c. Business Support, monitoring and driving forward internal projects, overseeing the review and management of policies, and managing administrative and other support functions.
d. IT, supporting and maintaining systems, hardware and software, ensuring they are secure and up to date, continuing to develop new functionality in partnership with our external IT providers
e. HR (managing both internal and external resources) to support recruitment, starters and leavers, staff welfare, processing payroll, leave and sickness and the training and development of people.
f. Facilities, managing office spaces, supporting home workers and overseeing health and safety.
g. Producing and leading on the annual Culture Review, collating scoring and feeding back to trustees.
h. Finance, assisting the Head of Finance, approving spend where necessary.
2. Line management of two Business Support Officers, covering
a. Compliance
b. HR Support
c. IT Support
d. Finance
3. Development of yearly plans and budgeting for all corporate services.
4. Manage relationships with external suppliers and ensure value for money.
5. Owning the programme of change across all services to ensure we remain on track to deliver our ambitious growth objectives.
6. Establishing and maintaining office procedures.

Since 2018, Connect: North Korea (CNK) has grown from a small community start-up into an effective and impactful organisation with an annual income of approaching £500,000, mainly through grants from Trusts and Foundations. We now want to develop our individual giving programme to build our unrestricted income and secure our long term growth.
As our new Individual Giving Officer, you will play an exciting role in growing income from our individual and corporate base to help us reach more vulnerable members of our community. You will lead on individual fundraising relationships and initiatives, including appeals, fundraising campaigns, and all direct marketing activities and communications. You will position us in our supporters’ minds and encourage them to actively support CNK in 2025 and beyond.
Responsible to: Head of Fundraising and Communications
Based at: Our offices in New Malden KT3 with some remote/home working. We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate the right candidate.
Contract: Permanent. Full-time (35 hours per week) with occasional evening working required. Flexible hours/days possible whilst respecting core hours of 10am-4pm
Salary: £36,000 - £39,000 + 5% pension, health insurance and gym membership
Benefits: 28 days holidays exclusive of public holidays. We also offer 2 additional days on top of this – 1 recharge day where the whole charity closes and 1 day in the week of a staff member’s birthday.

Primary duties and responsibilities will be:
Planning:

Translate our strategic individual giving goals into reality. Plan and deliver an action plan with measurable KPIs to raise £80,000 in 2025

Use online analytics, social media insights and other metrics to report on progress, capture learning, refine, improve and grow our income from individual givers.
Communications and Individual Giving:

Work with CNK team members to gather information, case studies, quotes and images and convert into compelling and engaging content for social media and our website. ‘

Regularly update our website and social media platforms with insights, opinions, case studies, calls to action, to build our community of supporters

Use social media platforms to build brand awareness and drive traffic to our website

Engage with fiscal sponsor to support income from US funding sources

Plan and deliver innovative well thought out funding campaigns to convert existing supporters from once off donations to regular givers, nurture and steward donors to increase the value or frequency of their current donations

Inspire our mailing list subscribers to give to us for the first time with the aim of increasing our new donor pool by 15% in 2025

Report monthly on individual giving progress, income raised, number of new supporters/followers, conversion rates, offering insight on ROI, learnings and incorporate this learning to improve how we do things in future.
Fundraising compliance:

Save all profiles, donations, giving history, gift aid agreements, correspondence, and communications with supporters on CNK CRM database. Uphold GDPR and comply with fundraising best practice.
Staff & Volunteer Management

Create and manage volunteers to gather case studies, compile research, develop content for social media and organise events with an eye to increasing awareness and income for CNK.
The role has no direct line reports at present but there may be in future, along with the prospect of promotion, budget permitting
Essential skills and experience:
You will have at least three, and ideally five, years experience of:

individual giving fundraising for a small charity, with a track record of developing and delivering successful individual giving campaigns that have generated 4 to 5 figure sums

building a community of followers and converting them into donors

gathering information, case studies, data and finances, distilling and crafting high quality, well articulated compelling funding asks

growing charity brand and positioning, thorough consistent approach, campaigns, asks,use of language and artwork

Chance to Shine is a national children’s charity. We change young people’s lives through cricket giving them the opportunity to play, learn and develop through the sport. We keep them physically active, teach them vital skills like teamwork, communication and leadership. And above all, they have fun.
Chance to Shine takes cricket to new places and uses it to ignite new passions, teach vital skills, unite diverse groups, and educate young people from Cornwall to Canterbury to County Durham.
Since 2005 our Chance to Shine Schools programme has helped reverse the decline of cricket in state schools with millions of boys and girls in over 13,000 state schools playing and learning through cricket. Chance to Shine Street supports young people in under-served communities to access and benefit from cricket in a free, inclusive, fun and fast-paced tape ball environment.
The Fundraising Team is tasked with helping Chance to Shine achieve its ambition, securing new funding partnerships and the stewardship of existing donors across a range of funding streams: Corporate, Events, Trusts and Foundations, Individual giving, and statutory funding to support the delivery of Chance to Shine programmes.
We are looking for an individual with experience of prospect research within the charitable sector, who can lead the prospect research, pipeline management, and information management function within the Fundraising team. The person in this role will have excellent attention to detail and a keen analytical eye to enable the fundraising team to succeed.
The role does not require an understanding of cricket but does require an enthusiasm towards changing children and young people’s lives.
Purpose of the role
We are seeking a Prospect Research Officer working 3 days / 22.5 hrs per week, who will work across the fundraising team to research and identify individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporates whose values and interests align with Chance to Shine’s mission. By doing so, you will be making a major contribution to growing the charity's high value supporter base; and to maximizing its engagement with existing and potential supporters.
The post holder will:
- Lead on the research for new business prospects across all fundraising streams (individuals, trusts and foundations, corporates)
- Create detailed briefs for key stakeholders at Chance to Shine events
- Lead on the pipeline management process, ensuring records are up-to-date

This is an exciting and challenging position, which will be pivotal in growing the acquisition programme as part of our 5-year strategy. Working closely with the rest of the A&W team and wider stakeholders, such as the Communications team, media and creative agencies, you'll help to optimise acquisition activity as we scale up investment in this area. This is an opportunity for someone to help make a real difference to a varied programme using a test and learn approach.
In addition to leading DRTV, this role also involves delivering a variety of other important activity as required, such as inserts and welcome journeys. There are opportunities to turn your hand to a range of channels and product promotion as we aim to scale up channels such as inserts.
Criteria
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual with excellent communication and analytical skills. You’ll enjoy looking for ways to optimise all elements of campaigns from creative, content and media testing and able to act as a key point of knowledge in this area. Experience of DRTV is required, with an understanding of individual giving fundraising KPIs, including in relation to: DRTV, print, telemarketing, email and landing pages. You will be confident working with data with attention to detail and accuracy, from briefing data criteria for emails to using excel to review and share results. You will also be able to engage wider stakeholders in our acquisition testing plan development, providing clear regular communication to update on progress and learnings.

The Mental Health Foundation is recruiting for a Project Officer (Mental Health Awareness Week) to support our Marketing and Communications Team.

This exciting Project Officer role will support the planning, development and day-to-day delivery of the charity’s flagship annual campaign, Mental Health Awareness Week. Working with the Marketing and Communications Team, this role will assist the Campaign Leads and other colleagues with organisational and administrative duties, ensuring deadlines are met and work plans are keep up to date.
What does the role involve?
- Support the management of the campaign timeline, progress, and project documentation ensuring that campaign staff and others are aware of upcoming deadlines and activity.
- Schedule and attend project meetings with internal and external stakeholders, take comprehensive notes and share updates and actions.
- Respond to enquiries from stakeholders.
- Contribute to the management of partnerships and events.
- Create and maintain PowerPoint decks outlining campaign activity for partners and other stakeholders.

Are you ready to support a dedicated team of expert practitioners supporting young prison leavers to transform their lives? Switchback supports young Londoners to live life differently after prison with award-winning results. At the heart of the organisation, our Delivery Team has grown quickly over the last four years to ten Switchback Mentors with two Delivery Managers and a Pathways Partnership Manager.
The Delivery Manager role leads on ensuring our team of Switchback Mentors, who work within prisons and the community, have the support, systems and processes in place to deliver the Switchback programme effectively, maximising the impact for Trainees. Caseloads are deliberately small; Mentors work with no more than five Trainees at a time, with an annual Trainee minimum target of 10-12.
The post holder will be responsible for line managing Switchback Mentors, providing support, development, and motivation to ensure the delivery of the Switchback programme to a high standard, in line with the organisation's approach and values. Additionally, they will ensure that the Delivery Team’s operational processes are well-developed and effectively implemented.
Working alongside the Head of Delivery, CEO and one other Delivery Manager, you will ensure that the insights from our work with Trainees inform the continued development of our programme and methodology. You will also support the Head of Delivery to implement improvements to our model, including piloting and assessing new approaches and adaptations, so we can continuously strengthen and grow our offer to reach more men in the justice system.

Position Overview
As a people professional, you will develop initiatives across the charity’s volunteer base to ensure a positive and educational programme for volunteer development. You will organise initiatives and volunteer events that foster positive volunteer engagement nationwide. All Volunteers at My Black Dog have lived experience of mental health challenges. Ensuring the wellbeing of volunteers as they deliver our web-chat service to Guests, is an important part of this role. You will work with volunteers on both a collective and individual basis to ensure they feel supported.

You will work collaboratively with the CEO and COO to ensure an excellent, nurturing environment for volunteers and assisting the SMT with general administrative duties.
Responsibilities:
- To be primary contact for all volunteers, providing support and assistance, dealing with all enquiries from start to successful completion, escalating when necessary.
- To manage the process of volunteer recruitment using the charity’s database to manage the volunteer pipeline, from application, to selection and training and retention.
- Develop My Black Dog’s understanding of trauma-informed practice through briefings, training & support to volunteers
- To support volunteer leaders and mentors with training, guidance and structure for their roles through meetings, feedback and group sessions.
- To implement a high-quality volunteer training programme for regular volunteer roles, including: organisation of a training schedule, facilitation of training and reviewing training processes and facilitation
- To deliver guidance and training to support volunteers
- To manage volunteer and guest enquiries and feedback.
- Ensure volunteers have access to adequate support services and resources during their volunteering.
- Drop into shifts to remain present and interact with volunteers.
- Provide debriefing for all volunteers outside of their shift hours.
- Facilitating regular feedback from volunteers
Administration:
- To support CEO and COO with administration both in relation to the management of volunteers within the organisation and for the Charity’s general administration
- Manage all volunteer paperwork and records
- Arrange staff and volunteer DBS checks
- Arrange meetings and co-ordinate diaries for the Senior Management Team
- Manage all correspondence to volunteers
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven HR knowledge and expertise
- An understanding of, and positive attitude towards, mental and physical health; community and social inclusion; and a strength and assets-based approach to engaging participants
- Confident communication with people at all levels, with a style that is clear, engaging, supportive and collaborative whilst at times of challenge can hold your own.
Required experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a HR role
- Experience in providing psychological safety in a work culture

- CIPD qualified

- Show a strong understanding of housing supply and availability in Northern Ireland, particularly in relation to social housing, the private rented sector, and people at risk of homelessness. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders.
- Hold a full, clean driving licence (or alternative means of travel if a disability prevents driving), as regular travel across Northern Ireland will be essential.
Desirable Criteria:
- A Level 5 or above CIH qualification in Housing or a postgraduate degree in a related field such as Property Management, Housing Policy, or Social Work.
- Previous experience working with individuals at risk of or transitioning out of homelessness, particularly in a supported housing or tenancy sustainment role.
- Familiarity with social housing allocation systems in Northern Ireland, including the Common Selection Scheme.
