How Will you Make a Difference?
As an Operations Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the effective functioning of our organization. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including human resources, recruitment, HR administration, office management and providing general support to the Operations team. The Operations Officer will work closely with team members to ensure the smooth execution of daily operations and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities include:
Human Resources:
- Assist the People and Culture Manager in implementing HR policies, procedures, and initiatives, including performance management, staff wellbeing, and employee engagement.
- Handle HR-related inquiries and administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws.
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding candidates. Collaborate with hiring managers and People & Culture Manager to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and engage with external recruitment agencies.
- Coordinate staff training, professional development programs, and workshops to enhance employee skills and growth.
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth transitions in collaboration with the People and Culture Manager and the Employer of Record.
- Work closely with the Employer of Record to ensure accurate processing of contracts, payroll, and adherence to local labor laws. Prepare and update HR-related documentation, such as contracts, offer letters, and policy manuals.
Admin and Logistics:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the coworking space management team.
- Implement and improve administrative processes for increased efficiency.
- Arrange and manage staff travel, including flights, accommodations, and transportation, ensuring compliance with organisational policies, budgets, and safety protocols.
- Monitor travel expenses and coordinate reimbursements with the Finance team.
- Provide pre-travel briefings in collaboration with the Head of Operations and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Provide administrative and logistical support to the Operations team.
- Handle general inquiries and requests to facilitate smooth operations.
- Support the Head of Operations with IT needs, maintain knowledge management systems, and ensure effective workflows and internal communication platforms are up-to-date.
- Manage office assets, including inventory tracking and maintenance.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Remuneration Package
Remuneration: 32,000 GBP per annum.

The Role

About the role
Our influencing work is changing the UK conversation about domestic abuse, with both national and locally based elected representatives and the officials and colleagues who work alongside them. Our PPAC Officer, reporting to the PPAC Manager, will be crucial in helping us to develop our engagement, as well as deepen our policy influencing capacity to support our roll-out of ground-breaking interventions to end domestic abuse and ensure support for the whole family to keep people safe sooner.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of a 3-year Train the Trainer pilot programme in the chosen pilot locations in England or Scotland.
The pilot will train and equip local health care professionals, health promotion workers and local community workers with the knowledge and resources to promote breast awareness, breast screening and risk reduction messages in their own communities.
You will support the 2 public health development managers, train the trainer, with the development and delivery of the in-person programme, including, marketing materials, resource packs and ongoing support for trainees. About the role: Transform Justice is seeking a research and policy officer to play a vital role supporting its work for a better justice system. Working closely with the charity’s director and deputy director (and alongside our communications officer), you will conduct high quality research, draft policy briefings, and organise and participate in meetings and events. This role will support a range of projects including the next round of our innovative courtwatching project, and our research into victims’ experiences of the criminal justice system. You will also work closely with the director on a piece of research and policy work into the single justice procedure.
We are looking for someone inquisitive, flexible, and organised. The role is home-based using your own equipment, so you will need to be able to work on your own with minimal day-to-day supervision. The team meets regularly online and for in-person meetings in London, with the option to work together for a half day in a cafe on a weekly basis.

About The Rufford Foundation
The Rufford Foundation is a grant-making charity that provides funding for nature conservation programmes and projects.
The flagship Rufford Small Grants Programme awards funding to individuals working in developing countries who are starting on the ladder of conservation research and establishing pilot programmes. Since its inception in 1999, the Rufford Small Grants Programme has given over £37 million through more than 6,100 grants to projects in over 150 countries. The programme identifies scientists and practitioners at the early stages of their careers and provides targeted support to enable them to achieve their goal of making a difference in terms of conservation. In 2023, we started to pilot our Organisational Grants funding stream to provide core, multi-year funding to small local NGOs to help them strengthen their financial and institutional capacity to ensure long-term viability.
This is an exciting time to join The Rufford Foundation, as the postholder will play an essential role in encouraging grantees to apply for further funding. This new role will sit within the conservation team to coordinate the delivery and oversight of Rufford Small Grants.
Rufford Small Grants are renowned for being an important milestone in the careers of conservationists and researchers who may have limited experience in designing and delivering projects. We are very aware that unforeseen issues may arise and are considerate towards requests for project changes. The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer will review all project updates and reports to track project changes and to monitor project delivery against proposed plans.
The Rufford Foundation is involved with other conservation donors and practitioners looking at the evidence of conservation effectiveness and supporting learning from success and failure. We fully understand that conservation projects may not succeed as planned and that evaluating small grant project impacts over short timescales (1-3 years) is problematic. The MEL Officer will take this into account when reviewing project progress and evaluation reports.
The ideal candidate will bring previous experience of reviewing (or drafting) donor reports, have excellent analytical and communications skills and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of biodiversity conservation, ideally with some practical knowledge of conservation in countries where the foundation funds projects. Experience of coordinating work with grantees, including review of workplans, deliverables and budgets, would be highly desirable.
We are keen for the MEL Officer to use their expertise to design a MEL framework to help our grantees with their project proposals, and The Rufford Foundation to evaluate the impact of work across the Rufford Small Grant and Organisational Grant portfolios. The MEL Officer may also support grantees with their own project evaluations.
Principal Responsibilities
Rufford Small Grants
- Review narrative and financial reports for Rufford Small Grant projects, including comparative analysis of results versus original proposals.
- Draft brief summaries of the results of each project, highlighting project changes and outcomes, sharing these with colleagues in writing and at team meetings.
- Compile key achievements delivered through Rufford Small Grant projects.
- Make recommendations for Rufford staff to follow-up with grantees about further Rufford Small Grant funding.
- Work with colleagues to develop reporting guidelines and update our reporting templates.
- Support grantees with understanding and meeting Rufford reporting requirements – this might be done through online or in-person meetings with individuals or groups.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of grant-related activities specifically related to the review of Rufford Small Grant project reports.
- Using background material drafted as part of a recent consultancy, to develop high-level indicators for conservation and capacity building, lead in formalising an evaluation framework for The Rufford Foundation across all grant-making.
- Develop a systematic process to monitor the careers of previous grantees to measure the impact of our funding.
- Produce graphs, tables and short reports on Rufford Small Grants on a regular basis.
General
- Support with monitoring and evaluation of Organisational Grants including review of annual reports and gauging progress against annual plans.
- Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues, grantees and external contacts.
- Explore opportunities for grantees to draft pieces to promote their work through Rufford communications channels.
- Provide administrative support on grant-making processes as required.

Person specification
Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience of working within an environmental or biodiversity conservation NGO.
- Grant-making or project reporting, ideally within the conservation sector.
- Reviewing donor reports for conservation projects, including drafting feedback for grantees to address queries raised.
- Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills.
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluating conservation projects.
- Candidates will ideally have completed an MSc in an environmental/conservation- related discipline.

Their main role is to provide one to one advice to clients referred through the charity’s Warm and Safe Homes helpline and to deliver energy advice presentations to groups. They also get involved in a range of tasks to support these activities. Energy Advisers sit within the Communities Directorate and are part of a dynamic and caring team of professionals who go the extra mile to support their clients, some of whom may be in difficult circumstances.

What you will need to succeed
Working within our Communities Directorate you will have demonstrable experience of delivering Energy Advice and helping others. Therefore, it is vital that you have empathy, confidence and knowledge of the issues facing vulnerable low-income households.
You will have knowledge and understanding of the environmental, social and economic problems of deprived areas and the roles of the public, private and voluntary sectors in tackling them.
You will also have knowledge of assistance available for energy efficiency improvements to low-income households.
You will be an excellent communicator, with proven experience and understanding of how to effectively address the energy needs of low income, vulnerable or disadvantaged householders – with the desire to make a positive difference to people’s lives.

We are offering:
£28,163 – £33,205 (FTE) – Scale 5-6, Points 12-22 (plus £3,300 London Weighting if applicable). New appointments are usually made at the starting point of the scale.
- 11½% non-contributory pension.
- 25 days annual leave plus 3 additional days in between Christmas New Year Period when our offices close; plus, all public holidays per annum for full time staff, pro-rata for part time staff.

The post holder will be a source of support and expertise to Helpline Volunteers during a shift, providing emotional support and signposting options to bereaved people in their initial contact with Cruse Bereavement Support, (in call / Email / Casework). This role will be working closely with a Project Team in Cruse who are managing our Southern Gas Network (SGN) partnership. We would like this role to participate in the development of the partnership to ensure effective rollout within our National Helpline. This would require you to attend National Energy Action (NEA) Fuel Debt Advice in the Community Training and become the point of contact for the National Helpline staff and volunteers for SGN related queries.
Due to the nature of the role, you would be expected to work flexibly on a shift basis (with availability to work between 9am and 8:15pm), including some Bank Holidays.

The purpose of your role
We are looking for a personal assistant with some previous experience, who is keen to support Police Now’s mission of community transformation and culture change in policing, and to undertake a meaningful role supporting the executive leadership team in a busy, agile and ambitious organisation.
Police Now’s executive leadership team currently includes the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Marketing Officer and Programmes Director. Together, the Executive is responsible for the organisation’s overall health and success and is accountable to the board of trustees.
This role will work both independently and collaboratively to ensure that the executive team works efficiently and effectively. This will primarily be achieved via swift and thoughtful diary management, meeting support (for example, taking minutes of formal meetings and actions from informal ones), management of email inboxes, drafting and responding to correspondence, and similar administrative and support duties. Over time, there are opportunities to develop and add additional activities and responsibilities to the role.

Key responsibilities
- Board and board committee governance: be a point of contact for trustees, partners and other external stakeholders and plan and coordinate board meetings, sub-committees, and the senior leadership team meetings. This includes ensuring papers are circulated in advance, meeting room bookings, attending meetings and producing timely, concise and accurate minutes and actions. You will work with the Company Secretary to update our records on Companies House and the Charities Commission to ensure that Police Now is always compliant as well as manage and maintain databases and systems relating to governance.
- Executive team diary management: support the executive team with day-to-day diary management to help ensure that they are effectively utilising their time in the most impactful ways. This includes arranging and coordinating meetings, booking rooms in our London office, arranging travel and accommodation when required and in some cases, sourcing an external venue while being cost effective, all while ensuring that digital infrastructure is available to support hybrid working.
- Financial processing: you will process invoices relating to the executive through our financial system and reconcile the executive teams monthly credit card statements and personal expenses in a timely manner as well as occasionally process expenses for trustees and committee members.
- Project support: assist and support the Executive team and Strategy, Stakeholders and Governance Manager as needed with strategic projects and other ad hoc tasks as required.
- Inbox management: manage the general enquiries inbox and some individual executive inboxes to effectively direct queries and escalate risks as appropriate.
Key Requirements

We are looking for a committed individual to join Schoolreaders to be part of the SMT and wider charity, delivering this vital support to children. As Head of Business Support, you will be coming on board to develop and manage the structure and team that deliver the support functions for the charity, helping keep everything running smoothly. Your team will consist of employees, contractors and third parties where necessary, and you will co-ordinate them to deliver a seamless set of services. At this time the role will line manage two officer roles within the charity, manager several third parties (including HR and IT) and work alongside the Head of Finance.
The Head of Business Support will oversee compliance, governance, HR, IT, facilities, and administrative functions. We don’t expect you to be an expert across all these areas – you might have a strong background in one or two but have the ability to manage these functions and others in the team and have a meticulous eye for detail. Reporting into the charity’s CEO, you will be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT). As part of this you will directly input into the charity’s strategy and annual planning process. 1. Day to day oversight of the delivery and development of corporate services functions, to include:

b. Risk, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place for managing risk, owning key policies and their review, engaging with staff with information and training, liaising with the Board and with the Director responsible for Safeguarding and being the main point of contact for whistle blowing.

d. IT, supporting and maintaining systems, hardware and software, ensuring they are secure and up to date, continuing to develop new functionality in partnership with our external IT providers
e. HR (managing both internal and external resources) to support recruitment, starters and leavers, staff welfare, processing payroll, leave and sickness and the training and development of people.
f. Facilities, managing office spaces, supporting home workers and overseeing health and safety.
g. Producing and leading on the annual Culture Review, collating scoring and feeding back to trustees.
