Vision for the role
Migrant Democracy Project (MDP) envisions a society where all migrants at home in the UK hold collective, political power to shape a society rooted in justice, freedom, and solidarity.
We are looking for a full-time Community Organiser to organise first-generation migrants in the UK towards migrant justice through electoral and community organising. The organiser’s work will connect across 3 streams: voter registration; advocacy & campaigns; and political empowerment.
Whether it’s engaging migrants at a voter registration stall, supporting migrant communities to organise in the electoral space, or strengthening a local campaign - the lived experience of first generation migrants is at the heart of all our activities.
We are looking for an experienced organiser who is passionate about migrants’ rights and democratic reform to start working as soon as possible.
Who funds the role?
The role is funded by a grant from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Contract
This is a fixed term contract, 2 years (with the possibility of extension depending on future grants), £32,000 pro rata, with an immediate start, including NI and 3% employer pension contribution.
We are looking for an organiser who can work full-time hours flexibly, including evening and weekend time where events require. When work is carried out by any Migrant Democracy Project employee outside normal working hours, time off in lieu is applied.
Location
Migrant Democracy Project does not have a physical office. The Organiser will work flexibly from home on administrative tasks and be expected to work in-person when necessary to deliver voter registration, training, informative, advocacy and campaign activities, as well as representing MDP at relevant events.
Responsibilities

Build and implement an organising strategy for MDP in collaboration with members of our community.

Identify and lead on outreach activities and events with first-generation migrant communities where there is scope for building power in their local areas.

Identify, train, and support community leaders to participate and shape MDP’s Our Home Our Vote campaign for the extension of the right to vote.

Support the delivery of our MPower - Community Organising Programme training and empowering migrant communities to best achieve their campaign aims by engaging in UK democracy and politics.

Support the electoral prospects of MDP leaders and the organising scope in their communities.

Manage a stakeholder network including local and national migrants’ rights groups and keeping a contact database.

Lead on the co-production and dissemination of physical and digital materials on democratic rights and participation, such as production of leaflets and infographics in different languages and with different purposes.

Collect and produce content for social media following activities delivered with the community.

Keep track of engagement and contribute reports for our projects’ evaluation.
Qualifications
We are looking for a proactive and confident organiser with the following essential skills:

Good people skills and ability to manage the needs, priorities and differences of a diverse range of communities.

Excellent knowledge of the UK political system, in particular of voter eligibility and the roles and responsibilities of elected representatives.

Natural problem-solver who is able to work both independently and collaboratively in a startup environment.

Excellent and motivating verbal and written communication skills. You will be expected to speak in public, engage migrants on voting rights, communicate political and electoral topics engagingly and succinctly.

Knowledge of the UK immigration system and experience working with migrant communities, including campaign or support groups.
-
Experience organising in the political space, such as conducting voter registration drives, supporting political candidates, turning people out to vote, informing politicians at election times.

Excellent administrative and planning skills, including dealing with last-minute changes to events.

Experience producing and posting content using a range of social media platforms, including X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
-
Experience delivering or facilitating training and/or informative sessions.

Good data skills, including for evaluation and monitoring purposes.

We are seeking a Senior Strategic Funding Specialist working across all income streams within our Philanthropy and Partnerships team. The role holder will develop and have oversight of donor communications and strategies that support the generation of unrestricted, co-financing and emergency funding. This role manages two team members.
This role will provide the opportunity to lead a small team to produce inspiring communications to secure the most strategic income for the ActionAid Federation: unrestricted, humanitarian and co-financing funding. - Produce compelling communications for a range of high-level supporters, including Trusts and Foundations, Individuals and Private Sector donors and prospects. - Coordination of emergency appeals, oversight of all co-financing and development of strategic proposals and reports. - Work with colleagues across the ActionAid Federation to understand and communicate funding needs to potential supporters.
To be successful in this role you will have
- Significant experience in producing high quality, compelling written materials for an external audience displaying a high level of copy writing skills and attention to detail
- A proven track record in writing successful high value fundraising proposals and securing significant donations from major donors, charitable trusts and foundations and/or corporate donors
- Proven experience of developing appropriate strategies in line with organisational and departmental objectives
- Experience in leading a cross team project or strategy which involves multiple stakeholders
- Proven experience in managing a varied workload, delegating work effectively, taking initiative and meeting deadlines

Main purpose of the role:
As Team Leader you will line manage a team of adult social care Support Workers who support adults with learning disabilities, in a supported Living house.
The Team Leader supports the Registered Care Manager in creating and promoting community and a sense of home, leading the service delivery in line with L’Arche values, traditions and standards, and the requirements of the Care Quality Commission [CQC].
As our Team Leader, you will be responsible for the smooth and safe running of one of our supported living houses. This will include managing and creating the monthly rotas, updating and managing digital care plans and risk assessments, supporting and supervising assistants (including inducting new team members). Also, overseeing reporting such as medication records, health and safety, and quality assurance checks, implementing the planning and undertaking of meaningful activity, taking part in support reviews, ensuring training is relevant and up to date, and working as part of the senior leadership team to maintain a high quality of care.
Essential Criteria
- Experience of leadership in adult social care in a supported living or care home setting;
- A record of accomplishment of effectively leading and managing team performance, such as providing clear objectives, reviewing outcomes, putting in place develpment plans, and taking appropriate action to deal with poor performance;
- Ability to guide, support and teach the essential skills of supporting people with disabilities;
- Supportive of the identity, mission and values of L'Arche and enthusiastic about working within a community organisation rated Outstanding by the CQC;
- Level 3 Health & Social Care Diploma (adult care) or equivalent, or proven ability and equivalent experience combined with willingness to study at this level in accordance with community policy;

About the role
Ever wondered what it means to work at a grassroots organisation, working hard to fight poverty in the community? Well, this is your chance. We have a unique and exciting opportunity for someone interested in gaining first-hand experience working on the frontlines of a fast-paced, guest-facing charity.
Sufra has always been #MoreThanAFoodbank, and this role is key to Sufra’s journey in trialling different methods of supporting residents. We are partnering with SALIENT, a team of researchers who are working with the public, partners from local and national government, food charities, community support teams, and the food industry on a range of food-related trials. In particular, they will be conducting a trial at Sufra where a range of different support is offered to Food Bank guests. The aim of the trial is to assess the impact of these different methods, and hopefully come closer to learning what support our guests prefer to receive from our food bank service.
The ideal candidate will work well in a busy environment and will have great people skills. They will have some experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the public and potentially vulnerable individuals. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for members that register with the pilot project and will be confident answering queries confidently speaking about the trial. The candidate will work closely with the Food Aid Manager and SALIENT researchers to ensure accurate data tracking once participants are registered, including collating receipts, supporting with feedback interviews, capturing case studies and logging visits. The role will also include supporting the distribution of both parcels and vouchers and ensuring meticulous financial records of this are kept.
People skills are crucial to success in this role, as the successful candidate will be working alongside a range of people, ensuring that they are supported throughout the trial. Due to the diverse nature of Sufra guests, it would be beneficial for this candidate to speak Arabic, Somali, Farsi, or another community language.
This is an immensely rewarding role working in a dynamic charity built on an ethos of sharing, hospitality and inclusivity. Through your activities, you will be able to convey the charity’s passion and commitment to supporting vulnerable people and demonstrate the impact of our interventions in transforming the lives of beneficiaries. Role Description
Supporting the smooth running of the SALIENT Food Trial, conducted at Sufra NW London. Supporting across the trial, focussing on participant recruitment, distributing different support methods and maintaining data throughout the trial. We hope to have this candidate in place by mid-August.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Guest Recruitment
• Sharing information about the research trial
• Leading the recruitment of the trial, checking guest eligibility and contacting Sufra Food Bank guests and clearly communicating the trial in a non-biased and informative manner.
• Answering queries and concerns from Sufra guests and current participants and obtain consent to share data with researchers.
• Anonymising data sets for sharing with researchers.
• Creating awareness of the study amongst Sufra Foodbank volunteers through briefings, sharing links to the study video and information sheets so they are informed of how the study will operate.
Pilot data collection and tracking
• Work alongside SALIENT researchers to maintain a dataset to track participation in research.
• Distributing different methods of support for participants, during usual Food Bank collection hours.
• Implementing financial tracking of transactions made, and ensuring all financial monitoring is up to date and accurate.
• Exploring methods to reengage and support participants with low attendance.
Other Duties
• Joining staff meetings once a month and updating the wider team on the progress of the trial.
• Ensuring that our health and safety protocols and policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensuring that the service reflects the ethos, values and core principles of the charity and oversee the project’s development, so it is continuously and sustainably meeting community needs as they evolve.
• Attending regular supervisions with your line manager and staff meetings with the wider team.
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties to support the operations of the charity.

About The Felix Project
The Felix Project is London's biggest food redistribution charity and the largest end-to-end food redistribution charity in Europe.
Our vision is a London where no one goes hungry and good food is never wasted.
We rescue surplus food from businesses, supermarkets, restaurants and farms. This food is nutritious, in-date, and safe and includes a high proportion of fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish. If we did not rescue this food, it would be at risk of going to waste. Instead, we deliver it free of charge to London charities, schools, food banks, COVID food hubs and other organisations serving people in need. Our food is a vital lifeline for children and families, people on low incomes, people who have lost their jobs, the homeless, refugees, domestic abuse survivors, the elderly and keyworkers.
We were founded in 2016 in memory of Felix Byam Shaw, by his father, entrepreneur Justin Byam Shaw.

The main purpose of the role is to identify and secure new surplus food supply and develop long-term supply partnerships while growing the relationships we hold with existing suppliers. You will play a big part in ensuring that the charity is successful in achieving its objective to rescue and secure a growing supply of surplus food that will take us to our ambitious future meal targets.

We are now looking for our next hire - an experienced Senior Producer - to help us support our ambitious plans.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Senior Producer will support SCA’s Artistic Director in the effective delivery of all SCA activity, from planning to delivery review, whilst providing effective event support. You will supervise and manage a small team.
As Senior Producer you will work collaboratively with creative organisations and practitioners; be skilled at building relationships with speed and credibility with people at all levels, cultivating strong relationships with UK, international partners and venues alongside developing new partnerships. You will also support the Artistic Director to oversee and manage events and projects.
You will be a creative, collaborative and ideas driven individual, confident in managing people and multiple priorities, with extensive experience of producing complex productions with a range of partners.
What you will be responsible for:

Identify artistic opportunities that further SCA artistic ambitions, nationally, internationally and digitally by developing partnerships and prospecting leads

Work with the wider SCA freelance team (production manager, tech etc) to deliver diverse commissions, programme strands and ideas across multiple interdisciplinary artforms.

The work that we do at the RSPB makes a real difference to the world we live in, and we can't do that without our people. Our Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) Team are at the heart of this, and we are looking for two experienced, talented professionals to join us.
One role focuses on Management Development and will focus on supporting managers develop their own skills and with developing their teams. This will involve scoping of topics, creating and delivering workshops (in-person and virtual), facilitating action learning sets, as well as creating engaging content and materials such as workbooks, topic guides, worksheets, and job aids.
The other role focuses on our Core Skills area of work and as well as the production and delivery of general core skills content and materials will be involved in developing and delivering content for a development programme aimed at site managers, delivery of career workshops, and will work closely with others in the L&OD team and more widely across the organisation to support local inductions.
Both roles will provide coaching to colleagues within the organisation. The posts will also be working collaboratively with other L&D and HR Advisers, the wider L&OD Team and colleagues across the organisation to create interventions that are engaging and help managers translate theory into practice.

Reporting to the Compliance Lead, the Data Protection Adviser will drive the development of an improved Compliance culture throughout the charity whilst ensuring that we adhere to all relevant regulations and laws. The Purpose of the Role

Are you passionate about supporting older people to develop and maintain their physical wellbeing? We are looking to recruit an Exercise at Home Coordinator, sitting within the Wellbeing & Connections team, to deliver a programme of activities that can support older people with mobility challenges through exercise at home.
The desired candidate will have a Level Three Fitness Qualification (PT) and will assist clients to gain confidence through movement, including chair-based exercise, and walking support for older frail clients in their home. The role is pivotal in enabling people with chronic conditions to become more active, and for people who have temporarily lost mobility to regain the confidence to walk. To ensure the ongoing effectiveness of this programme offer, the role will include training and supporting volunteers.
Role functions:
- Running our Exercise at Home programme – assessing new clients in their homes, prescribing exercise programmes for clients that align with their needs and goals, training volunteers to deliver the programmes, and managing the day-to-day running of the project.
- Delivering walking support sessions - these will be tailored to be accessible by those who have either recovered from a fall or have had surgery and need the confidence to access the community. These sessions will enable people to increase their mobility, whilst also having an opportunity to socialise with others in the local community. Training volunteers to assist clients with walking support will be a key part of the role.
- Co-ordinating other community-based physical wellbeing activities, including our monthly Flaneur Walks during the warmer months, and any new projects that arise.
- Networking with relevant local bodies, NHS trusts, GP clinics, and social services to make them aware of the services we provide and to strengthen our presence in the field.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and have at least one year’s experience of working with older people. A Level Three Fitness qualification is compulsory and a qualification in delivering exercise programmes for those with mobility issues would be advantageous.
