Our Migration Fund was established in 2015 and has since awarded over £30 million and supported 160+ organisations. We currently grant c. £5 million per year to organisations working towards ‘a world in which everyone is free to move, and no one is forced to move’.
In close collaboration with migrants and those working towards migrant justice, our team has recently reviewed our priorities and criteria, which includes an updated analysis of how positive change might happen, our role in facilitating that change, and the types of work we are keen to support across the UK. This current iteration of the fund was launched in April 2024.

We have since introduced a Steering Group, made up of six external individuals with complementary skills, knowledge and experience who help our team review and shortlist applications to be considered by our decision-making panel, a mix of independent advisors and PHF trustees. This group also supports our overall work, ensuring our funding strategy responds to the opportunities and needs emerging in the field, helping us identify gaps in our portfolio, and expanding our networks.
In addition to our grant-making, the Migration team supports a range of learning exchanges and events to strengthen relationship building and collaboration within the movement. This includes financial and strategic support to emerging collaborations, exploratory and thematic events in the UK and beyond. Every year, we host the Migration Residential, a 2.5-day retreat to support our partners and the wider field to recharge, connect and strategize together.
What will be my main contribution?
As a Grants Manager, you will act as the primary point of contact between applicant organisations and Paul Hamlyn Foundation, undertaking enquiry calls to learn about their work, assess their alignment with our strategic priorities, advise them on the application process, and providing tailored feedback, where needed. You will also review applications alongside the Migration Steering Group and make funding recommendations to our decision-making panel. You will work closely with a portfolio of funded organisations in our migration theme, primarily the Migration Fund. There is a current portfolio of c. 50 live grants that you will manage and be the key point of contact for. You will build strong relationships with funded organisations, responding to emerging needs, providing advice where relevant, and supporting them to achieve their learning and impact goals.
Who will I report to?
You will be supported by and report to the Head of Programme – Migration.
Who will I line manage?
You will not have line management responsibilities. However, you will be expected to work in a small and fully interconnected structure that relies on collaboration, flexibility, and the ability to operate within both formal and informal reporting relationships.
What other key internal relationships will I have?
You will work closely with colleagues in the Grants and Strategic Learning, Insight and Influence teams to share intelligence, develop an understanding of the impact that our funding and support are having, and highlight and celebrate best practice more widely to help drive the change we would like to see. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Finance and Resources team to ensure good and effective grant management.

Main Responsibilities
· Alignment with the values and aims of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and in particular its commitment to social justice and equality, to tackling disadvantage, fighting prejudice, supporting youth voice and participation.
Grant-making and Management
· Provide prompt and helpful support to potential applicants enquiring about the Foundation’s work, the Fund’s criteria and the organisation’s alignment with it.
· Work alongside the team to proactively identify potential applicants and enable them to apply to the Migration Fund.
· Assess grant applications, analysing their alignment with the Fund’s criteria and priorities, fit with our portfolio, and participating in discussions with the team, Migration Steering Group, trustees and senior leadership to agree on successful applications. Support the team to provide tailored and constructive feedback on applications and hold relationships with applicants throughout the whole process.
· Prepare written reports with detailed analysis and recommendations to present at decision-making panel meetings.
· Manage and monitor a portfolio of grants awarded, which includes supporting organisations to identify their learning goals; reflect on lessons, impact and challenges; review learning reports; respond to emerging issues and needs; authorise and generate grant payments in a timely fashion.
· Support the Head of Programme to continuously review and improve our grant-making processes to ensure that they are accessible and do not perpetuate existing structural inequalities.
· Maintain our grants database (Blackbaud Grantmaking), ensuring that records are accurate, reporting and payments are completed so that we know the status of applications and awarded grants at any time, and so we can better analyse and learn from our portfolio.
· Carry out visits to funded organisations to learn more about how the work is going, their context and help identify gap areas across our portfolio. Visits may be virtual or in person, with some local or national travel across the UK, where needed.
· Support with grant-making and management of the Foundation’s invitation-only funds, where relevant.
Learning
· Take an active and supportive role with funded organisations, helping make connections with potential partners and/or funders, advise them on emerging and strategic issues, and to strengthen learning within and across grant themes.
· Participate in learning and knowledge sharing activities relevant to the team and wider migration field including keeping up to date with relevant policy and practice to inform our strategy and acting as the team lead on specific issue areas, where relevant.
· Take on specific research or development roles within the team as appropriate, which might include maintaining strong relations with partner foundations, supporting funder collaborations, and the development of strategic initiatives.
· Help develop and actively contribute to cross-departmental and multidisciplinary working, supporting continual improvement and professional development.
· Support the Head of Programme to design, deliver and learn from our events and learning exchanges, where needed.
General
· Represent the Foundation at external events, where required.
· Support the work of the communications team to ensure that news stories, grants’ listings, etc. are kept up to date.
· Liaise closely with the grants administration team.

Skills, knowledge, and experience
· Alignment with the values and aims of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, in particular our commitment to equitable grant making and being an anti-racist funder. The ability to apply these principles to ensure good decision making and support for those we fund.
· Demonstrate experience of working in the migration field or on migration issues, in particular migrant communities who experience intersecting forms of exclusion or oppression, and with organisations and groups who work alongside them.
· Demonstrable experience of project / client management skills to support stakeholders throughout the process – from assessments to monitoring within a focus on migration issues
· Evident understanding of the main issues and practices that support or hinder relational, transparent and accountable grant-making.
· Knowledge of the key political and legislative environment affecting migrants and diaspora communities in the UK, with the capability and interest to acquire it in other areas of our current work.
· Interest in how social change happens, including some knowledge of the existing diverse ecology working to tackle systemic and structural inequality and injustice, and how they relate to one another.
· A good understanding of organisational dynamics – such as business planning, financial reporting, performance management and governance – and how these apply to developing the business models, capacity and longer-term sustainability of organisations, ideally within the public or voluntary sectors.
· Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to constructively engage with disagreement and conflict, and give empathetic and constructive feedback to unsuccessful applicants and grant partners.

Terms and conditions
· Salary circa £39,000.
· 25 days leave per annum, plus statutory holidays.
· The Foundation will contribute a sum equivalent to 10% of your basic annual salary to the group pension scheme (Aviva) and will match up to an additional 2.5% (optional) of your contributions from the date your employment begins.

· Office hours are normally 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday, but flexible working is possible around core hours of 10am – 4pm. Some flexibility is required from team members around evening work and travel to and from events and meetings.
· PHF operates a hybrid working policy and you will be expected to work at least 40% of your time in the office with the option to work up to 60% of your time from home. The contractual place of work for this role is 5- 11 Leeke Street, London WC1X 9HY.

Our fundraising team bridges the journey of the animals in our care with the wider public, demonstrating how their contributions enable us to support every dog and cat. We now have several new roles within this team to further our mission.
We are seeking a Face to Face Fundraising Project Manager to aid the development of Battersea’s face-to-face programme across our regular giving, sponsorship and lottery products.
The postholder will use their experience of face-to-face fundraising to analyse the existing programme and ways of working, identify improvements, contribute best practice, upskill the team and develop a long-term plan for face-to-face fundraising.
The key objective of this role is to quickly get to grips with the current face-to-face programme and rapidly identify opportunities for improvement/uplift and operationalise any recommendations. The postholder will not be responsible for day-to-day management of face-to-face activity, volume or income targets or agency relationships.
Please note that this opportunity is for a fixed term of 3-4 months.

About the role
This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in two of our schools in Darwen, Lancashire, delivering two of our programmes – Ignite (Key Stage 4 only) and our new Accelerate programme.
The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors and coaches, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of our programmes is optimised.
Role responsibilities
- Work directly with students in a professional and safe manner.
- Engage with school staff, your Programme Manager, and students in school to ensure that you have fully enrolled cohorts across both programmes.
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful Key Stage 5 and university applications.
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database in a timely manner (training is provided).
- Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programmes.
- Present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on our programmes progress.
- Support the wider team by attending university site visits which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

About the Bureau
The Bureau is the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative journalism organisation. In the last year, our investigations were published in over 100 countries across local, national, international, specialist, TV and digital platforms. Our four global investigative teams work with reporters around the world on priority cross-border issues – environment, health, dirty money and big tech. In addition, our UK-focused Bureau Local team uses an innovative community-led approach to cover issues like insecure work, migrant rights and family courts, amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. Founded in 2010, we’ve grown from a small group of journalists to a diverse team delivering hard-hitting investigations that have prompted inquiries, sparked legal challenges and informed policy change in the UK and across the world. This role will initially focus on the work of our Bureau Local and Dirty Money teams.
Our fundraising
At the Bureau, our funders and supporters are vital. We are almost entirely funded through grants and donations so – put simply – without their support, we wouldn’t be here.
Although our supporters may come from different backgrounds or have varied priorities, they all share a common goal: tackling the issues across our society that are eroding democracy and driving inequality. They support our work to hold those in power accountable, uncover new evidence to support positive change, and empower citizens.
The Bureau has experienced significant growth over the past three years, increasing our annual income to £2.8m and expanding to a team of more than 40 people. While the majority of our income comes from grants, there is strong potential for further fundraising growth, and we are actively working to diversify our funding streams beyond trusts and foundations.
This is an exciting time to join the Bureau as we continue to build on our strong relationships with existing supporters while exploring new funding opportunities.
Role and Responsibilities:
Support from trusts and foundations is our main source of philanthropic income so we are looking for somebody with experience in grants fundraising who can quickly apply their skills and expertise. You’ll work closely with our Development Director to report to and liaise with current funders, manage a pipeline of prospects and submit successful applications to secure new grants. You’ll also work closely with our other Fundraising Manager, who manages a pipeline focused on our environment, global health, and big tech work, and may be asked to work on these areas from time to time. In addition, you will support in building a major donor programme to diversify and strengthen our funding base. You will collaborate with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, from impact producers to reporters to finance and operations, in a supportive and welcoming culture that values teamwork and shared success.
As an excellent communicator, you will be able to take complex issues and translate them into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with funders and stakeholders. You will also be passionate about building strong relationships with our funders and supporters.
While experience in high net worth fundraising would be a valuable bonus, it is not essential. You don’t need to have raised funds for non-profit media before, but you do need to be excited by our work and able to express the Bureau’s key areas of work and impact in an accessible, accurate and compelling way. We’re a small team, so you’ll need the willingness to pitch in on fundraising tasks – big or small – to ensure the Bureau is in the best possible position to pursue its mission.
We envisage this as a full-time, primarily hybrid working role, working from our London office two/three times a week.
Skills and Experience
• Excellent fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of 3+ years’ experience successfully raising significant funds for charities or non-profits and managing relationships with funders (foundations - essential, high net worth individuals - desirable);
• Strong background in managing grants admin, including due diligence and processing agreements;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to speak and write English fluently;
• Great analytical skills, with experience of researching and identifying new funding sources for various projects;
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
• Experience of working with databases and funding pipelines;
• Exceptional time management skills, a professional attitude and meticulous attention to detail;

About Tender
Tender is an arts charity working with children and young people to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, age-appropriate spaces where young people can engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to be both consumers and producers of learning through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse.
Role Purpose
The main purposes of the Projects Coordinator role are to:
- Coordinate the delivery of Tender’s educational programmes to and for children and young people in schools and youth settings in East England (with an initial focus on Norfolk)

Administration

The purpose of this role is to lead the delivery of the Climate Change Aim. The incumbent will provide technical support and oversight and lead in achieving its influencing outcomes. WASH and Climate Programme development:

- Analyse the evolving political economy of climate-resilient WASH to guide WAEA for adaptive programming and planning.
- Support WAEA in developing the capacity of the relevant staff and partners on Climate change, water security and its links with WASH.
- Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive climate-resilient WASH five-year strategy for the East African region, considering local climate challenges, vulnerabilities, and available resources.
Technical and operational support for programme implementation
- Provide technical and operational support to CPs, NGO partners and other relevant actors to implement WASH and Climate programmes

- 10+ years’ experience in climate-related programming at a senior level.
- Strong expertise in WASH, water resource management, and climate adaptation.
- Proven ability to develop and lead policy and advocacy strategies.
- Experience in securing climate funding and developing donor proposals.
- Strong networking and partnership building skills across governments, NGOs, and agencies.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel regularly within East Africa and occasionally beyond.

This is an exciting new role to both support the coordination of existing ‘leaders in advocacy network’ and to coordinate and lead the project developing a membership body for the group to transition to. The postholder will work with the Advocacy Programme Lead, members of the leader’s network and other key stakeholders to understand what is most needed from a membership/professional body for advocacy providers, develop and launch that offer.
Our nationally recognised advocacy programme seeks to support best practice in the commissioning and delivery of independent advocacy, so that people who draw on advocacy get the support they want and need, in the way they want and need it, when they want and need it.

Street Child (SC) is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian, and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over 1.5 million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors.
Street Child has been operating in Mozambique since 2019, focusing on Cabo Delgado province. Its portfolio currently includes around $1 million dedicated to child protection and education in emergencies programming. Sector and Capacity Development Manager
MCF has a small, diverse team, but our impact is far-reaching. The Sector and Capacity Development Manager will play an important role in supporting members and the wider British Muslim charity sector, reporting and working directly with the CEO. As our Sector and Capacity Development Manager, you will be responsible for managing change management, organisational development and capacity building support to the voluntary, community and third sector in 4 core areas including governance, organisational development, volunteering and fundraising.
