We have worked in Birmingham for five years and the need and urgency for our work is greater than ever, with the many live grassroots campaigns across Birmingham mobilising people to come together to save libraries, youth services and social housing. We know that a shared root cause of all of these crises is the city’s economic system.
This role leads our work across Birmingham to help build our collective capacity to analyse, strategise and take action for economic system change in the city. It will coordinate our Programme team to deliver different initiatives that support a growing movement for economic justice across the city - particularly focused on building support and engagement amongst grassroots changemakers and communities experiencing economic injustice. It will manage projects and resources, conduct programme development and delivery, oversee outreach and partnerships, changemaker recruitment and contribute to fundraising - ultimately play a key role in shaping our regional impact. This position is crucial in coordinating our work across Birmingham and driving meaningful collaboration with local and national stakeholders, in particular working collaboratively with Economic Justice Brum, a long term initiative working on local economic systems change.

Job Description
Birmingham Programme Development
- Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, lead the translation of People’s Economy’s strategy into a programme of work in Birmingham
- Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, identify the resources People’s Economy needs to deliver its strategy in Birmingham and contribute to fundraising for the organisation’s programme of work in Birmingham
- Working closely with Programme Director lead outreach and relationship building with community and civil society partners, including members of the Economic Justice Brum
- Working closely with the Head of Community, lead the development of People’s Economy’s programme of outreach and relationship building with changemakers in Birmingham including current grassroots campaigns such as Save Birmingham, Save Birmingham Youth Service (SBYS), Ladywood Unite, Save Druids Heath and the Birmingham Fair Housing Campaign.
Birmingham Programme Delivery
- Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the delivery of People’s Economy’s programme of work in Birmingham and ensure it is well embedded, integrated and supportive in the local economic justice landscape
- Play a leading role in our collaborative work with Economic Justice Brum ensuring consistent coordination, support and relational working
- Lead our work on developing and delivering a creative communications plan for Economic Justice Brum, as People’s Economy is its appointed communications partner

The Movement Collaboration Lead or Senior Movement Collaboration Lead (depending on experience) will work closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team to lead the development and delivery of an exciting emerging programme of work building collaboration for economic system change between grassroots groups and new economy organisations.
We are looking for people who are: passionate about addressing economic injustice, are excited about the role of collaboration in creating systems change and capable of creating partnerships and strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
The first twelve months of this programme will take an action inquiry approach to facilitate a mixed group of new economy organisations and grassroots groups through a collaborative process that will develop shared knowledge and practice about how we can effectively and equitably collaborate on economic systems change work through practical experiments, facilitated dialogue and collaborative research.
The role will involve responsibilities for project managing and delivering this work including programme development and delivery, developing partnerships, changemaker recruitment and support, conducting desk research and interviews, managing and running events, supporting project related fundraising, conducting project learning and evaluation and writing a learning report about the project.
Following this first year we plan to scale work on supporting collaboration between grassroots groups and new economy organisations, subject to funding we hope this could become a permanent role.
All programme roles in the People’s Economy team support work across the programme team and we see a postholder likely working on the Action Inquiry for 0.4 FTE and supporting other work strands depending on their relevant skills, experiences and interests for 0.2 FTE.

Role overview
The Senior Programme Manager will lead our delivery team and work closely with the Partnership Manager to ensure that we’re designing and delivering mentoring projects that meet our partner objectives. The postholder will line-manage key staff in the delivery team, delegate programme activity and oversee quality across our portfolio. The postholder will be accountable for engagement across our portfolio and for ensuring we meet targets and key performance indicators set by our partners for project outcomes.
The postholder will also lead the delivery of Brightside Mentoring, our London based mentoring project that’s currently funded until 31 December 2025. This will involve leading the ongoing design of the project as we learn from each cohort, recruiting young people to take part from across our London networks and reporting to the funder on project progress. Our ideal candidate will therefore be based in or around London, as frequent travel will be required.
Responsible for (our partner portfolio)
- Overseeing project deliverables across our portfolio, ensuring tasks are delegated across the team and that deadlines are met
- Chairing weekly delivery team meetings to stay on top of project launches, delivery updates and upcoming evaluations
- Ensuring that roles and responsibilities for project delivery are clear across the delivery team
- Collaborating with the Partnership Manager to manage our approach to risk across the portfolio
- Collaborating with the Data and Insight Manager to ensure recommendations and learning are embedded into future projects

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to lead our Programmes Team whilst our current Director of Programmes is on maternity leave. The role will be fixed term from December 2024 until January 2026, although there may be further opportunities beyond the length of the contract depending on organisational growth.
The Director of Programmes will be a key member of CoachBright’s Senior Management Team, and will have input on both operational and strategic decision making. Whilst we will expect your input on matters relating to programme delivery and impact, all members of SMT are expected to contribute to decision making across the organisation. As a result, the role is an excellent opportunity to get genuine leadership experience at an educational charity, with the opportunity to report directly to our board of trustees depending on growth in the role.
The primary responsibility for the Director of Programmes will be to recruit school partners for our EEF trial, with delivery beginning September 2025. This trial is to test the impact our Peer to Peer coaching programme (Y10s coaching Y7s) can have on the maths attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The trial will require us to recruit 100 participating schools, 50 of whom will receive the intervention, with another 50 allocated to a control group.
Working alongside the CEO and the Programmes Team Leader, you will create and execute a strategy to recruit new schools as participants to this trial. As a result, experience of managing sales or partnerships with schools, or existing connections with senior leaders at secondary schools and multi-academy trusts, would be beneficial.
Alongside this, you will line manage our current Programmes Team Leader, who directly line manages our team of Programme Managers. From Sept 2025, we are expecting our Programmes Team to grow, and you will play a key role in recruiting for that expanded team. At that point, we would expect you to begin line managing a small number of Programme Managers directly.

Write and execute the strategy to deliver our EEF trial. This will primarily involve recruiting and onboarding 100 schools to participate from January 2025 through to July 2025, for programmes to begin in September 2025.

Location and travel

Leading People’s Economy’s approach to training
- With support from the Programme Director, lead the development of People’s Economy’s approach to training and workshops to create an approach and set of standards to be applied across the organisation.
- Stay abreast of developments in training best practice across similar organisations and use this knowledge to further develop People’s Economy’s training approach.
- Develop resources (e.g. types of training exercises) that can be used across People’s Economy’s training work
- Support colleagues and freelancers to implement People’s Economy’s training approach, including through delivering ‘train the trainer’ training and creating learning resources

The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.
In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system.

As our Training & Engagement Manager, Parents & Education, you will be an active member of our programmes team and will work across our portfolio of programmes, with particular focus on the education and parental engagement programmes.
You will have responsibility for stakeholder engagement, developing relationships and promoting Ygam training in the North-East of England (Education) and nationally (Parents). You will recruit suitable delegates to workshops, working closely with a range of stakeholders from schools, youth organisations, children’s services to parents and carers.
You will also provide training both face to face and online and will be responsible for the delivery of our assured workshops and promoting the work of Ygam at conferences and events. You will work with organisations to collate case studies and evidence, supporting the programme's achievements and our overall impact.

An exciting new role to work within the Project Management Office (PMO) team; the Project Support Coordinator will support the Project Manager and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in delivering a vast range of projects across the business. The role will include the maintaining project and programme documentation including project plans, risk and issue logs and reporting dashboards.
You will be reporting to the Head of PMO.
What you will do:
Project/Programme Support:

To assist in the production and maintenance of project plans, risk registers, issues logs, lessons learnt reports and other project related documents.

To support all Programme Boards – including managing agendas and ensuring the actions, issues, risks and decisions are logged appropriately.

Co-ordinate short-term projects/campaigns with the support of a project manager.
General PMO Support:
-
Develop a strong understanding of our project management tool (Smartsheets).
-
Fulfil requests from across the organisation to build sheets, forms and reports (using Smartsheets).

Organise, attend, and participate in supplier meetings where required.

Providing ad-hoc support to project managers and teams as required.
About you:

Excellent communication and organisational skills and will involve liaising at all levels internally as well as working externally with external suppliers.

Strong analytical abilities – proficient in using tools to support delivery of effective processes, identifying the optimum way of implementing a solution.

Key Skills & Experience:

At least 1 years’ experience in a project support management role and/or business-related experience with relevant qualifications.

An understanding of project management and delivery methodologies.

Ability to cope in a complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation.

Ability to work to tight deadlines.

Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation.

Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Previous experience working with project management software is desirable
